The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it will include farming and crop production as part of the one year primary assignment for corps members from the next service year.
Mr Bello Ballama, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.
He said that the move was to help address corps rejection by some corps employers through the engagement of more corps members in all aspects of farming and crop production.
The coordinator said that the move was also aimed at boosting the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme.
Ballam said the scheme was therefore putting all its farms in good condition in readiness for corps members to commence its use.
“Corps members will be involved in all aspects of farming and crop production.
“This will not only support skills acquisition of NYSC but also governments plan of boosting agricultural production to improve self-reliance and achieve national growth and development.
“From this 2018 Batch ‘A’ Stream I set of corps members who are commencing orientation on April 19, we are going to look into all the farm formations and centres to be able to post corps members there.
“We have farms in the FCT and many other states of the country; the present leadership of the scheme is poised to ensuring the revival of all NYSC facilities including the farms.
“The NYSC is faced with the challenge of engaging the increasing number of corps members mobilised every year.
“We therefore, have to take proactive steps towards achieving our mandate and supporting the federal government’s plans for youth development,”he said.
So, there’s a video currently making rounds of Big Brother Naija Housemate, Cee-C, where she revealed she “was the cause of her best friend’s death”, during her school days.
The video has since gone viral on social media, and it’s generated a lot of hate comments for CeeC.

First, it was the rumor that Cee-C failed law school twice. BUT THAT WAS ALL A LIE. When faced with burden of proof, all of them ran to their mother’s hut. We let that slide.
Then next was a fake WAEC result that went around, obviously done by a nose-sniffing amateur. A lot of people believed that but it was TOTAL LIES. The picture they used was obviously taken from her Facebook profile. Even a toddler could pick out the irregularities. We let that slide too.
Then there has been lots of other attack on tarnishing her image.
Even Instagram accounts of fellow housemates have joined the bandwagon in the calumny.
But today’s post by @instablog9ja is the straw that has broken the carmel’s back. They have tactfully misrepresented Cee-C’s conversation with few housemates to further tarnish her image. Why these bloggers want to ruin Cee-C’s reputation, I’m yet to understand why.
In the entire conversation where they were discussing about the power of words, she recounted where she wished a relationship that was threatening her friendship would end.
But unfortunately the friend passed away 2months later which she cried profusely about.
This won’t be the first time anyone had wished they had good thoughts of a person if they knew the their lives were going to be short.
But what do we see? @instablog9ja decides to make Cynthia Nwadiora a villain by splicing the video to suit your campaign of calumny.
Because you know that showing the entire statement will not favor your campaign. In what society has it become accepted that thoughts kills? Even in metaphysics, it’s still a debate.
Let’s assume thoughts kill, what is the relationship between wishing a relationship ends and death?
I’ve tried as much as possible to be civil in this game. I’ve gone high when others have gone low.
Even the vilest amongst us have picked on us but I’ve done it clean. People have called us all sorts of name, but I assumed it’s what comes with the terrain. Because I believe that 85 days is not worth ruining ourselves.

Lanre Gentry, the Estranged husband of Popular Nigerian Actress – Mercy Aigbe, has shaded the latter as he congratulated newly married Actor, Gabriel Afolayan.

Chinese media has reported a surrogate mother gave birth to a baby boy in China four years after his parents died in a car crash.
The deceased were undergoing fertility treatments before the accident occurred in 2013.
The couple’s parents fought a legal battle to gain access to the couple’s fertilized embryos kept in a hospital in the Eastern city of Nanjing.
According to reports from Beijing News, the baby boy nicknamed ‘Tiantian’ or ‘sweet’ in Mandarin was born on December 9 to a Laotian surrogate.
Surrogacy is illegal in China, forcing those who can afford it to look for potential options abroad.
‘He’s always smiling. His eyes are like my daughter’s, but he looks more like his dad,’ new grandmother Hu Xingxian, told the state-run newspaper.
The grandparents had to clear several hurdles to transport the embryos out of China and prove the paternity and nationality of the baby once it was born.
‘First we thought of using air freight, but none of the airlines were willing to take the thermos-sized bottle of liquid nitrogen where the four embryos were stored,’ Liu Baojun, a surrogacy expert who assisted the families, told The Beijing News.
So the families decided to transport their precious cargo by road to Laos, where commercial surrogacy is legal.
The next problem was getting the baby back into China. Children born through surrogacy outside the country need to have a DNA test proving that one of the biological parents is a Chinese national.
To get around the issue, the Laotian surrogate mother was brought to China on a tourist visa and the families arranged for her to give birth at a private hospital in the southern city of Guangzhou.
The child was kept in the hospital for 15 days, until all four grandparents gave blood and DNA tests, establishing the baby was indeed their grandson and that both parents were Chinese nationals.
The landmark ruling that allows parents to inherit frozen embryos created by their children has triggered a wide-ranging debate on Chinese social media.
Dozens of commentators said it highlights the plight of parents who have lost their only child under China’s controversial one-child policy. Others discussed the need to legalize surrogacy.
‘This is a family that is rich and capable. But, there are many others that have lost their only child. Shouldn’t the government offer them any support (for the price they´ve had to pay) for complying with family planning policies?’ asked one commentator on Twitter-like microblog Weibo.
The three-decade-long restriction on family size was replaced by a two-child-rule in 2016.
Tiantian’s grandfather Shen Xinnan told The Beijing News that he will wait until the boy is ‘older and wiser’ before telling him what happened to his parents .
‘In the meantime we will say his mum and dad are living abroad,’ Shen said. ‘We will definitely tell him what happened — what choice do we have?’
The European Union (EU) has inaugurated 956,000 euros (about 4.3 billion Naira) projects in support of Person with Albinisms (PWAs).
The project is also for the provision of water and sanitation management in the Niger Delta, Nigeria.

“This stressed the importance of EU working with the people with Albinism in Africa to improve their rights and to deepen their opportunity,” he said.
He said one of the projects was funded under European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights ( EIDHR ) programme, while the others were funded under component three of the Niger Delta Support Programme ( NDSP ).
According to him, the projects have a total funding of 956,000 euros and to be implemented over a period of five years.
“So this is another example of the close collaboration of EU with CSOs and authority in Nigeria because we know that the chain is as strong as the weakest link.
“So we always advocate for civil society, the international community and the authority alike to approach some of the challenges that we have seen in Nigeria and some other places.”
He said the Component 3 of the NDSP was aimed to increase access to safe, adequate and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene service delivery to an underserved population in five EU approved Niger-Delta states.
The states, according to him, are Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, and Rivers.

A Ghanaian journalist has got himself trending on social media after he asked a Chinese national to pick up a can he dropped into a drain.
Erastus Arase Donkor, who works with Luv FM is seen ordering a Chinese man to take out the can which he had earlier dropped in the gutter in a 27-second video that has gone viral.
He continued to insist and ended up forcing the Chinese man to descend into the gutter to pick the trash with his hands.
Ersatus later took to Facebook to post a video of the incident, insisting Ghanaians must not allow foreigners to come here and litter their drains and gutter with trash.
According to him, such things cannot be done in Europe, Asia or anywhere outside the continent and therefore others should not also be allowed to exhibit such habits in Ghana.
He posted the video accompanied by the comment:

She has come under intense criticism from Ghanaians after an interview she had with CNN’s Amanpour.
In the interview, the actress stated that the economy in Ghana has made many women dependent on men for their upkeep.
She went further to state that she’s having sex with a guy because he can afford to take care of her financial needs.

Susan Peters has reacted to a video showing Khloe Karadashian’s NBA boyfriend, Tristan Thompson cheating on her with two women.
She used the opportunity to slam online trolls who are mocking Khloe with claims that she deserves whatever she got because she also stole Tristan Thompson from someone else.

Nigerian singer Simi has slammed people who love to rely heavily on whatever their Pastor tells them.
The singer made it clear that people have access to God the same way Pastors do.
Therefore, they shouldn’t allow such men bully them into doing certain things like idolizing them.

Cee-C reveal how she caused her best friend’s death
Cee-C has revealed how she inadvertently caused the death of her best friend while in school.
According to a video clip, Cee-C was spotted having a conversation with fellow housemate, Khloe, where she narrated the incident.
She explained it happened far back in school.
She mentioned she was best friends with a boy who was the only child of his parents, up until the time another girl snatched his love from her as they both started a romantic relationship.
The girl in question, sensing rivalry convinced the male student to stop talking to her amongst all other things she told him.
Feeling slighted, she inwardly and silently wished their relationship would come to an end.
Rather shockingly, the boy died. Cee-C added that his father died barely two moths after the demise of his only son as he couldn’t take it.
Khloe who listened with rapt attention sighed, while Cee-C added; ‘i’m serious o no jokes’
