The University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, has said it has conducted a successful facial surgery on a 26-year old victim of acid attack, Fatima Habu Usman.
The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Bashir Tahir, made the disclosure on Monday in an interview with newsmen in Maiduguri – he described the facial operation as successful, adding that the victim would undergo other surgeries on the shoulder and other parts of her body in the coming weeks.
“Fatima Usman is in stable condition now; we shall continue to examine her and assist in her recuperation.” he said
Usman, a final year student of Department of Nursing, University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, Fatima Habu Usman was kidnapped on Friday March 16, in front of the First Bank Plc, Maiduguri shortly after she emerged from the bank where she had gone to deposit some cash.
She boarded a commercial tricycle popularly called Keke NAPEP to Baga Road, but unknown to her, one of the men in the tricycle brought out a white handkerchief and pretended as though he was having cough, but as soon as he touched her face with it, she passed out, only to find herself dumped at the Railway Bayan Quarters area, bathed with a substance suspected to be acid.
She sustained injuries on the face and other parts of her body. She was also dispossessed of her android phone and other valuables.

A final year student of Ebonyi State University, identified as Doris Chinaza Edeh died in her sleep this morning.
Before her death, she was a 400 level Sociology student of the university.
According to reports, Doris was found dead this morning, after she went to bed last night.
Her corpse has already been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre’s Morgue.

The founder of the infamous MMM financial pyramid schemes, Sergey Mavrodi, died of a heart attack on Monday, March 26, 2018, at the age of 62.
The former deputy of the State Duma died in the Russian capital, Moscow, after he felt weakness and pain in the chest area.
Here are a few things you need to know about him:
1. Mavrodi was born on August 11, 1955, in Russian capital, Moscow, and was diagnosed with bilateral heart defect in his childhood.
2. He was first arrested in 1983 for illegal economic activity and was detained for 10 days.
3. In 1989, he launched MMM with his brother Vyacheslav Mavrodi, and a woman Olga Melnikova.
The name of the company was taken from the first letters of the three founders’ surnames.
The Russian company perpetrated one of the world’s largest Ponzi schemes of all time, in the 1990s with different estimates from 5 to 10 million people losing their savings.
4. Mavrodi launched the MMM Ponzi scheme for the first time in February 1994, promising annual returns of up to 3,000%.
On August 4, 1994, he was arrested on tax evasion charges, unrelated to the MMM scheme.
5. To escape prosecution, Mavrodi contested for and won a by-election to replace Andrey Aizderdzis in the State Duma, and with it immunity from prosecution.
In October 1995, the Duma cancelled Mavrodi’s right to immunity as a deputy.
6. Mavrodi tried to run for Russia’s presidency, but his bid was rejected after officials ruled that most of the signatures he submitted had been forged.
7. He was placed on an international wanted list in 1998 when he was believed to be on the run from the tax evasion charges and was eventually arrested in Moscow in 2003.
8. In 2007, a Moscow court found Mavrodi guilty of defrauding 10,000 investors of $4.3 million, and sentenced him to four and a half years in a penal colony and also fined him $390.
Since he had already spent over four years in custody, he was released less than a month later on May 22, 2007.
9. In 2008, Mavrodi published a book titled Temptation. In May of the same year, bailiffs arrested his rights to the book. 7,000 copies of the book were published.
10. A feature film titled The PyraMMMid, based on the story of the same name by Mavrodi, was released in Russia on April 7, 2011.

God saved me from a dangerous horrible looking cobra yesterday night in my toilet Seat(WC) here in Abraka delta state.

Popular Nigerian sportswoman, Blessing Okagbare, has broken a 22-year-old African record at the Wes Kittley Invitational Track and Field Meet.
According to a report by Punch Metro, Blessing Okagbare on Saturday started her outdoor season with an impressive 22.04secs in her 200m race at the Wes Kittley Invitational Track and Field Meet at the Abilene Christian University, which erased the 22-year-old previous African record of 22.07secs set by Mary Onyali at a Meet in Switzerland in 1996.
Cierra White also followed in second place in 23.26secs while Natasha McDonald settled for third in 24.23secs.
Apart from becoming the new African record, Okagbare’s winning time also becomes the new national record in the women’s 200m.
Okagbare’s previous personal best in the event was 22.23secs was set at the 2014 Eugene Diamond League.
With her latest exploit, it means that Okagbare now holds the Nigerian records in the women’s 100m (10.79secs) and 200m.
Okagbare did not compete in the indoor season, which started in January. The Wes Kittley Invitational was her first competition of the season.

According to the Russia media, Sergei Mavrodi whose MMM pyramid scheme deprived millions of Russians of their savings in the 1990s, has died of a heart attack.
Reports said the 62-year-old was rushed to the hospital late on March 25 with pain in his chest and died several hours later.
Mavrodi’s MMM financial pyramid was a typical Ponzi scheme in which earlier investors receive their profits from subsequent investors. Mavrodi promised returns of 20 percent to 75 percent a month, as well as lotteries and bonuses for investors.
As soon as the number of new clients stopped growing, the pyramid collapsed, causing huge financial losses for at least 10 million people, in some cases leaving them destitute.
In 1994, Mavrodi was elected as a lawmaker, a decision he later said was to ensure he received immunity from prosecution. In 1996, he lost his parliamentary mandate.
In 2007, a Moscow court found him guilty of financial fraud and sentenced him to 4 1/2 years in a penal colony.
In 2011, Mavrodi launched another pyramid scheme called MMM-2011, calling on investors to purchase so-called Mavro currency units in a bid to get rid of the “unfair” financial system. Some 15 months later, Mavrodi halted the project.
From 2011-16, Mavrodi launched Ponzi schemes under the MMM brand in India, China, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria.
In many of those countries, Mavrodi’s operations were subsequently shut down or suspended.

Following the report of Second Runner-up of the Big Brother Naija 2017 Reality TV show, TBoss’s dad from Benin, getting married recently, trolls had some nasty things to say and his response to them, has us utterly shocked!
A troll had while commenting on one of his wedding photos, said he looked like “a roasted goat” and replying to this troll, he made a statement, more or less, a curse on the people that’ll marry any of his children he had with his Romanian wife – this includes TBoss of course.
Engr. Vincent Idowu tied the knot to a new wife in a casual ceremony that went down in Edo State recently – according to multiple reports, Mr. Idowu and TBoss’ Romanian mom are separated.
After seeing the reactions of Nigerians on his recent development, he took to Instagram to share,
Ordinarily, I really wouldn’t like to make any comment here knowing how petty and unreasonable most Nigerians are. I am neither a politician, a business mogul nor money ritualist.
I am just a humble, comfortable old man. There was never a time I bragged of my wealth. And I have been a devoted and honest civil servant all my life. S
So, are Nigerians celebrating wealth or honesty? I am proud that I served my country faithfully and with integrity. I never took one kobo bribe as a Civil Servant and as a lecturer I never took one Kobo for blocking.
Those Nigerians jeering at my simplicity should cover their heads with shame. TBoss and her siblings have their lives and certainly without me. I never asked TBoss for one Kobo and I have never seen Wendy for over 13years though she visits Nigeria regularly in the past 10yrs from Romania.

The movie that led to my breakthrough is Sikirat Sindodo.
The name, Sikirat Sindodo, has stuck with me ever since and it is always in the news for the bad reasons.
People see me as a very wayward girl because of the role I played in the movie.
Meanwhile, I am a very calm person. I don’t go out when it is not necessary and I mind my business.
However, I don’t regret playing that particular movie because I was just doing my job.
Misconceptions
People often think that Yoruba actors cannot speak English but that’s not true.
Most of the people coming into the industry now are graduates. Even the ones that have been there before, who were not graduates, are going back to school.
One problem that we have is that the pay in the industry is very poor and that is why I don’t appear in a lot of movies. The only way we make money is when we produce our movies.
Fame
Fame has opened a lot of doors for me. There are some places where some of my friends, who are not popular, cannot go but once I get there, they allow me in because they recognise my face.
Some of the disadvantages are that when one goes to parties or run some chores, street urchins would often harass you.
Break
I took a break sometime ago when I was sick. I had problems with my liver. However, That was a long time ago and I am okay now.
Lessons
I have learnt to always be patient. It also pays to be careful and have a good manner of approach.
Challenges
One of the biggest challenges we have in Nollywood is the issue of piracy.
Nowadays, the Internet has taken over completely, compared to when I got into the industry.
These days, people only watch cable TV, Youtube and other platforms. The number of people who watch terrestrial TV has greatly reduced.
In a way, this has also killed the industry because people no longer buy DVDs and the marketers are complaining bitterly.
We need government to support us so that we can do cinema movies. That way, filmmakers would make money and the audience would also enjoy.
Daughter
My daughter recently turned 20. She is my best friend and I don’t like talking about her in interviews. She hasn’t shown any interest in acting.

I believe that’s an old story. He has dated plenty of actresses after me; I would rather not talk about him.

My career is still on; so, I don’t think I have gotten the highlight yet.

My man must be ready-made. I also like my man to be very prayerful, loving and caring. I am a very jealous person; I like my man to myself. I don’t like sharing. I can marry an entertainer because we are in the same industry. Right now, I’m ‘somehow’ in a relationship.
Relaxation
Whenever I want to unwind, I travel out of the country. Actually, I am a very boring person. I don’t go to clubs the way my friends do and I rarely hang out with people. Even when I travel, I usually stay in the hotel throughout except when I go out to shop. I have fun by shopping.
Fashion
Back in the day, I always wanted to go all out; I usually went for very expensive items.
I still do that though but now, I invest money in other things. I still go for expensive items but I’m moderate.
My favourite fashion items are bags and wristwatches…

Davido took to his Twitter page yesterday to welcome rapper “Sauce Kid” back home after his release from U.S. prison.
Sauce kid had featured davido in a song Titled “Carolina” in 2011.
He wrote saying:

The US Based Nigerian rapper was accused of using stolen bank card numbers to manufacture plastic cards which he then used for purchases after using an automated system to change account PIN between July 23 and 26 in 2016 in court documents.
The rapper was initially charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, eight counts each of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft, and possession of 15 or more fraudulent bank cards.
But he pleaded guilty to one of the counts of aggravated identity theft and the prosecutors dismissed the other charges exchange for the guilty plea.

The former beauty queen, narrated how her anger at her husband, made her get an ugly tattoo.
Her confession below:
“So About 6years ago my hubby and I were having one of those fights (wasn’t serious at all) 2days of not talking to each other, my Brazilian neighbour calls me and said they invited one of the best tattoo artist from Cyprus and some players & WAGs who want to get a tattoo can come over to their home the next day.
“I wasn’t interested but that night of not talking I began to think deep and remembered my hubby hates tattoos and I was like “jackpot”
“I shall deal with him so the next day came, I dressed up and strolled down to the house.
“When it got to my turn the guys assistant asked what I wanted, I said write my son’s name “Joey” immediately, I thought that won’t hurt him as much then I googled brazilian cartoon characters and I saw this character and I said I want this too and they made that “awww” sound I was like this people don’t get that I don’t want cute so I said make it “wink” � and they did.
“Funny part is we reconciled like the next day he saw the tattoo and we added 2 more days of fight and finally reconciled he lived with it but I’m stuck with a tattoo that people ask me the meaning or what the hell it is and I don’t even know.
“I’m always looking for ways to cover it cos I’m too old to be carrying a meaningless winking cartoon character ��� smh! moral of this story ;
