“The housemates are not entertaining us” — Nigerians reacts to #BBNaija Double Wahala

Some Nigerians have condemned the Big Brother Naija (BBN) show saying it is a profitable show, but a cause for alarm.

The third season tagged “Double Wahala,” commenced some weeks ago with 20 contestants competing for a N45 million prize and a brand new SUV.

Some of the viewers of the programme told newsmen that the show was “an insult to their intelligence as it promotes immorality among contestants.”

They condemned how the housemates were kissing each other as if they had been legitimately being married.

Mrs Olabisi Afolabi, a mother of two teenagers said, “BBNaija becomes addictive when one indulges in watching it.

“I always engage my children in productive activities while the show is on. “My children are under eighteen. They should not be exposed to anything that is pornographic in nature.”

For Abimbola Coker, BBNaija shows should be censored by government approved regulatory agencies to remove all obscene portions before transmitting it for public consumption.

“Obscenity and nudity become rampant in the show and such should not be encouraged in our society.” According to Samson Ogunsunlade, “BBN has shaped the perspectives of youths to glamorize or embrace unethical and immoral scenes as if it is a convention. “It is an avenue to make fast money without meritorious cause and a perverse drama costumed with the facade called ‘entertainment’.”

Some viewers said that the organisers of the show should improve on its organisation to make it more educative because many teenagers were watching either legally or illegally.

“A balance should be created between fun and depth.” They, while comparing the 2018 show with the 2017 edition with the theme ” See Gobe”, said that the 2018 show had not been entertaining enough.

This is the second week the show kicked off and many Nigerians had said that it was not entertaining enough.

Cassandra Smith, a banker, said that the housemates were not serious and it appeared that they were more interested in catching some fun in the house than winning the whopping prize money of N45 million.

She said they looked unambitious and were attending to issues nonchalantly referring to when the housemates lost their wager in their first week in the house. “The housemates are not serious, they are there to entertain us, and they are not doing anything serious that compared to the housemates from the 2017 edition. “They should be made to sit up and entertain the viewers because that is the essence of the show,” she said.

Also, Hope Samson, an Accounting student of University of Lagos said that Biggy’s voice which was one of the endearing factors to the show was not audible enough. Samson said that Biggy’s voice was a brand on its own and wondered why such loud and baritone voice would be changed this year to such that was not audible enough.

“Biggy’s voice should be as clear and audible as that of 2017 because we see that voice as an attraction to watch the show,’’ she said.

Mr Alao Lawal said that the scrolling pad on the television screen was not clear enough for viewers to read comments. “ To me, the show has been interesting, mostly at night during their daily task but the information pad on the screen has very tiny characters which make it difficult to read through except one moves closer to the television screen. “I expect that this should be improved on,” he said.

Elizabeth Afolabi, a staff member with a courier service said that the show had been boring as only a handful of the housemates had been entertaining so far. Afolabi advised Biggy to work on them so that they would be themselves and stop being pretentious.

“In my own opinion, I am always finding the show boring each time I watch it because I feel the housemates are still pretending to be what they are not. ” Biggy should think of more tasking activities that will force them to bring out their true persons,” she said.

Mr John Ayilara said that the show should inculcate educative activities and minimise obscene scenes which could influence children negatively. “I see no sense in watching something that will not influence me positively and my children will not be able to come and join me to watch. “Indecent scenes should be avoided so that when children switch on the television set on their own, they should not be welcomed with immoral acts, ” he said. Pastor narrates how a man turned into a python and swallowed his member

A Nigerian pastor Apostle Paul Umoru has narrated how a stranger turned into a python and swallowed his church member in a Keke Napep.

Read Below;

Beloved, on Sunday 4th Feb 2018 a member of our church, while returning home after service around after 1pm joined a kekenapep with her four children.

She handed over one of the children to a male passenger she met in the keke to help her carry due to lack of enough space.

Not long after, the stranger transformed to a large python and was swallowing this young boy right inside the keke in broad day light here in Bonny Island.

The head and part of the shoulders of the young boy had already gone into the mouth of the python. On noticing this frightening scene, the boy’s mother shouted JESUS!

This made the python to vomit the boy and disappeared leaving some teeth bruises on the boy’s body. The boy had fainted but was later revived and prayed over.

See picture below showing the teeth of the python on the boy.

The lesson here is to ensure you don’t handover your child or property to a total stranger. You may never know who you are dealing with.

May the Almighty God deliver us from satanic agents of darkness in the name of Jesus Christ!

Killer wife Victoria Gagariga sentenced to death by hanging

The High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Wednesday sentenced 30-year-old Victoria Gariga to death by hanging for killing her husband, Henry.

The court presided over by Justice Nayai Aganaba said the woman committed the crime on February 4, 2015 at their residence along Ebisam road in Akenfa, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The Nation reports that ,the victim, a lawyer from Sagbama local government area of the state and the convict from Brass were cohabiting for years before they legalised their union in 2014.

The union was yet to produce children before the unfortunate incident. On the fateful day, Victoria stabbed her husband on the neck following a misunderstanding.

He was confirmed dead by doctors at the hospital.

Aganaba while reading his judgement said the prosecution called six witnesses and produced seven exhibits while the defence lawyer had only one witness who happened to be the accused person.

Aganaba, who went through his records, averred that the onus of proof rested with the prosecution in line with the three ingredients to prove a murder case.

He named the elements of murder as the actual death of the deceased, that the death was caused by the accused person and that the action of the accused person was intentional with the knowledge that death or grievous bodily harm was its probable consequence.

The judge asserted that the circumstantial evidence against the accused was overwhelming, adding that all facts confirmed she was the only person with the deceased at the time of death and the only person with the opportunity to kill him.

Victoria Gagariga sentenced

He said Victoria committed a murder of passion caused by jealousy since the couple were obsessed with each other.

He said:

“It is unfortunate that I can only pronounce the sentence prescribe by law. I wish I had the discretion to do otherwise.

“However that discretion rests with the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State. I am only left with the compulsion to pronounce the sentence prescribed by law. I hope that the person with the discretion would look at the circumstance of this case and do the needful.

“I hereby pronounce my sentence. My sentence upon you is that you shall hang on the neck until you die. May the Lord have mercy on your soul.”

“90% of Southern Nigerian women are prostitutes” – Northern Man

A Nigerian Twitter user by the handle @zikirillahi has labelled southern Nigerian women as prostitutes.

In a series of tweets, he claims that the southern part of any country is always the cause of problems in the country. This he said using popular HBO series, Game of Thrones as an example.

In any country where there is South and North all the problem encounter by the state is from the Southern region. Even the famous TV Show “Game of Thrones” characterize South with House of betrayal, Lies, No Mercy, brothel, brother nd Sister intercourse, fake promises, injustice.

While Northerner are full people of integrity, people if their words, No fake promises “i’m no gonna swore an oath i can’t keep, When the North people make false promises words stop meaning anything – Jon Snow”

Charly Boy and daughter looking fierce in motorcycle-themed photoshoot

Veteran Nigerian Singer, Charly Oputa, AKA Charly Boy has released new photos of himself and his beautiful daughter Dewy in a motorcycle themed photoshoot

Dominique ‘Dewy’ Oputa is the last child of the singer and last year, she reportedly raised eyebrows as she seemed to have revealed her sexual orientation when she attended the Atlanta Gay Pride and proceeded to share a video with the LGBT logo.

Dominique, in 2013 also revealed that she is the female version of the area fada.

Here’s what she said during an interview with Vanguard ;

I think I’m just the female version of my dad, we are just the same pretty much, I guess I caught his cold after years of being around him. I have always admired him for his freedom and his tenacity at a time when it was taboo to look that way. In my case, the whole thing just grew on me. I don’t do all I do because I am trying to be like my dad. I am just Dominique, even though I wear tattoos and have piercings, but it’s just because I love them, not because I got influenced by my dad. There are many people who do this stuff, not because anyone, but because they are just comfortable that way.

“I attended a Yoruba wedding alone and I regretted it”

Here’s a story of how I once made the grave mistake of trying to enjoy the pleasures of a Yoruba wedding party all by myself.

I’d gotten a personal invite to the ceremony held in June 2017, alright, but I should have known better than trying to go all by myself.

I really should have known better than pressuring myself to attend, especially after my two friends, with whom I’d been planning to mash up the place, slied me just a week to the big day.

Mind you, we had been planning this gig for two months.

But hey, I wasn’t going to let that deter me. What was a little disappointment to someone determined to get something done?

Plan B

So what did I do? I called up one babe I had just begun being friendly with. I mean, there’s meant to be a silver lining after every dark cloud, right?

I chose to see my friend’s pulling-out of the plan as an opportunity to chill with the light-skin, curvy igbo babe.

She actually loved the idea. She was eager to go and I was really excited that everything had finally gelled and I’d spend time with her, gist, eat good food and maybe even take her back to my place afterwards.

Dreams do come true, don’t they?

Well, apparently not.

On the morning of the wedding, my phone rang and it was her.

You know those hand-falling moments when your phone rings and you’re hoping it’s an alert you’ve been expecting, only for it to turn out to be your network provider letting the devil use them to bring more agony to your raggedy soul?

That was it.

Brothers and sisters, imagine my despair when she apologetically called to say she was cancelling. She said she’d tried to make it happen, but there was no way she could force it.

Damned menstrual cramps!

When there’s a will…

But then, because my village people had planned and were so hell-bent on getting me that day, instead of seeing everything that already went wrong as a sign to just relax myself and sit home, my mind still wouldn’t let go of this wedding.

Maybe because I had just made this nice native attire – one well-tailored beauty like that – and the wedding was just the perfect opportunity to show it off. My body was legit doing me gish gish to just wear the clothe. I wasn’t going to let my guys and menstrual cramps rain on my party.

So off I went.

By the time I had my seat at 2:30pm or thereabouts, the bride and the groom were just dancing into the hall.

I mean, this was a reception that should have begun at 1pm but hey, I thought to myself, “they’re less than two hours late. I like these guys.”

That’s one lesson I’d learnt after being at enough Yoruba weddings. If the couple were not four hours late, you better be grateful.

And I was. In fact, I gave them a mental pass mark. On one hand for their early arrival and on the other because, just as the couple and its squads entered with all the fanfare, jollof rice and its divine smell followed.

Let the party begin as the Lord intended, I thought to myself as I fiddled with my phone, trying to be as cool as possible.

You know how you have to be composed while food is being served at these things so you won’t look like you are actually interested in their food. Smh.

20 minutes after and the smell of jollof had well and truly filled the whole room but none was coming my way. So I stylishly looked around me.

People of God, food was flowing everywhere around me o. Jollof was being murdered en-masse, beer and juice and other drinks were being used to flush the crushed grains further down but I was getting none of the action.

Another look around and I realized what the problem was – I had somehow managed to sit myself in the uncool side of the setting.

Oh my Jesus.

Uncool kids

You know all those cool kids in American high school movies always getting their way and getting away with literally anything? Exactly!

My table was the opposite of that. We were three. An elderly man and one woman who looked like she gatecrashed completed the miserable trio.

We were three at a table meant for eight. Quiet, looking morose and – it actually still breaks my heart to admit this part – very, very hungry.

Yet there was no food coming from anywhere. And it was increasingly looking like none would.

For some reason, it was only the tables where groups of people were gisting that had food. Banter was alive and gist was just flowing. So did food and drinks there.

The loudmouthed and really pretty babes who all wore matching outfits to our right had it all. I hungrily eyed a petite one and somehow our eyes met and held for the briefest moment.

Wait, lemme eat first, I thought and filed the thought of getting her number to a part of my worried mind.

The yuppy mummies directly in front of us had loads of food as well – as in, everything.

Those ones bullied the servers to get most of the food anyway; literally dragging the servers by the clothes whenever they passed till everyone at their table was served everything they wanted.

Then I realized that’s the thing about these Yoruba weddings and maybe about servers – you have to call their attention most times and it is the force with which you call them that they respond to.

It is often the case that they attend to a number of people calling at once rather than just one person or two. The larger the group and the loudness of their approach, the better for the group.

You know, there’s this thing about misbehaving in groups that takes attention away from individuals. Now I had the option to continue being posh and expect them to do normal, or go solo at harassing them to bring the party to my side.

I couldn’t.

“Please give me food na”

So I just sat there humbly, pressing my phone and trying my damnedest best to show a nonchalance I wasn’t feeling at all.

“Haa God, I never chop since morning oooooo!”

Gosh, can this people just serve us without having to call out to them, please? I was screaming internally at this stage.

Hello. Hello? Is anyone out there? Can you hear me?

Ok, you can leave the moimoi out. Just gimme rice, salad and chicken.

No? Oh my Jesus.

I suddenly realized how alone I was in this world.

Lesson: If you ever hope to eat at a Yoruba wedding, be ready to call out, maybe even drag the servers by their clothes.

Dishes were being cleared and mounds of rice and chicken were being brought down to broken bones. I was getting none of the action. My soul was paining me, my stomach was aching. It had been filled all day with nothing but the aroma of jollof.

One whole hour after, I reached a conclusion in my mind that if they didn’t bring anything in the next 30 minutes, I’d be out of there.

Then it happened. Finally!

A ray of hope

One of the servers had one last juice in his little basket and saw us at our table looking depressed.

He must have seen the misery in our eyes when he scanned the table and found nothing but table water. Mine was untouched.

“Ahahn, bros, they never serve una anything for here?”

“No o,” I replied, and the two other people joined in with their voice for good measure.

My voice actually came out a little too strongly than I hoped.

Wow. Where did that flash of anger come from?

Baba, the things wey hunger dey cause for this life ehn…

The serving guy quickly offered us juice and promised to come back with a serving lady – and a tray of all the goodies, of course.

I let the two other people have the juice. More was coming. No lele.

False dawns & unhappy endings

You people, that’s why I’m actually writing this article oooo.

See, that promise was made in 2017. It’s 2018 already and I’m still screaming internally, waiting for the serving guy that served me drink and told me to wait on him for food.

Please if you know that guy that served me drink at Abule Egba and told me to chillax for him, please tell him to come and serve me my food o, I use God to beg him.

I’m in Lekki as I write this.

Can you guys actually believe, there was still small chops served to people; and I think there must have been asun too, because as at the time I and my sunken, shattered, bleeding heart, dry mouth and empty stomach were leaving that wedding, I saw them preparing something that looked like the end product would be asun.

And I had nothing to eat in the midst of all that.

Zilch. Zero. Nada. Not even a grain of rice or morsel of semo.

Fam, the painment!

I have attended three more weddings since then and cancelled two more because there was no one to go with.

It’s crazy that I had to go so far and wait so long to learn a lesson everyone apparently knows in this Lagos – never go to a Yoruba wedding alone.

Even if you are lucky and you get food, enjoy and do all sorts that are done there, the experience is never the same.

I attended a Yoruba wedding alone and it was one of the worst mistakes of my life for that year.

Don’t be like me, people. Do better.

18 year old girl commits suicide after he elder sister caught her sleeping with her husband

A LOVE triangle ended tragically when an 18-year-old woman from Harare committed suicide by downing poison after her sister discovered that she was bedding her husband under her nose.

The tragic incident occurred last week when the teenager, Farai Chirara from Ushewekunze area in the outskirts of Harare, ran away from home before committing suicide by drinking poison after receiving death threats from her sister, Memory Mojoko, accusing her of bedding her husband Obvious Mudemba.

The deceased teen, had been staying with the couple, who are both teachers, while waiting for her A’ Level results when her sister started suspecting an affair between the former and her husband resulting in her running away from home.

A relative who spoke on condition of anonymity said when Farai ran away from home Mujoko started sending her messages insulting her with vulgarities and threatening her with unspecified action accusing her of wrecking her marriage.

The relative said Farai went on to drink poison and was rushed to Parirenyatwa hospital by other relatives where she died just after admission.

“It is sad that Memory pushed her sister to committing suicide after sending her messages insulting and threatening her.

Farai went to stay with the couple while waiting for her A’ Level results. During the long holiday, it is suspected that she started bedding Mudemba who is her sister’s husband.

“When Mujoko got wind of the illicit affair she started insulting and threatening Farai with unspecified action. Farai fled home and found sanctuary at a relative’s place where she later committed suicide by drinking poison.

“She died on Friday (last week) morning at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals,” said the relative.

The relative added that Farai’s relatives are baying for Mudemba’s blood accusing her of causing their daughter’s death.

“When Mudemba went to Parirenyatwa to check on Farai, he was threatened by the girl’s relatives and they chased him away.

What is worrying is that the couple should have resolved the matter amicably because Mudemba might have taken advantage of the girl considering that she was an adolescent,” said the relative.

Contacted for comment, Mudemba confirmed the incident but could not give further details.

“Did you talk to Farai’s parents and hear what they have to say about the issue.

Please talk to them first and I will give you my side of the story. Besides it is not me involved but my wife so talk to her also,” he said.

Mujoko refused to entertain the media.

“Who is this? Please you are talking to the wrong person,” she said before hanging up and subsequently switching off her mobile phone.

Farai’s parents could not be reached for comment.
