Former Paralympic Champion Oscar Pistorius Granted Parole, Set To Leave Prison 10 Years After K!lling Girlfriend

Former Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius has been granted parole and will be released from prison nearly a decade after being incarcerated for the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

He successfully won his case during a parole board hearing, leading to his imminent release.

The South African athlete, who is a double amputee, shot and killed Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013.

In 2016, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison for her murder, claiming that he mistook her for an intruder and that the shooting was a tragic mistake.

The Department of Corrections in South Africa announced today that Pistorius will be released on January 5, following which he will undergo therapy for anger management.

However, he will remain under supervision and will be restricted from leaving the area of Waterkloof, where he will be residing with his family for a period of five years.

Singabakho Nxumalo, spokesperson for the Department of Corrections, emphasized that parole does not signify the end of Pistorius’ sentence, but rather a continuation of it outside the prison facility.

The conditions attached to his release include specific guidelines regarding his presence at home and work, as well as a prohibition on alcohol and drug consumption.

In response to the decision, Rob Matthews, spokesperson for June Steenkamp, Reeva’s mother, stated that the parole board believed Pistorius met the criteria for release.

Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has revealed what the widow of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has to say about the requested DNA test for her son, Liam.

Iyabo shared this during a recent Instagram Live session after being called out by the deceased singer’s paternal aunt for overtly getting involved in late Mohbad’s case.

Recall that the elderly woman lambasted Iyabo Ojo and her colleague, Tonto Dikeh, for allegedly demanding the release of Mohbad’s body for a proper burial. Watch here

Speaking on this, Iyabo expressed shock at claims that she is asking for Mohbad’s corpse and revealed that she also contacted Tonto Dikeh to ask if she did any such thing.

On the DNA test being demanded by the late singer’s dad, Iyabo said she contacted Wunmi to get her comment on this, and she said Wunmi told her that she is not against having a DNA test conducted on her son but nobody has reached out to her.

She also mentioned that Wunmi asked if she would be the one to pay for the DNA test as she is currently trying to manage her funds to take care of herself and her seven months old son. She added that Wunmi said she is open to doing the DNA tests either in Nigeria and abroad.

Chef Dammy invited by police for questioning following a petition from her pastor; granted bail

Viral Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi, better known as Chef Dammy, was invited for questioning by the Ondo State Police Command on Thursday, November 23.

This comes after her pastor, Pastor Adegoke Jeremiah, filed a petition against her with the Police AIG Zone 17 in Akure, Ondo state. However, the details of the petition are currently not clear.

Recall that Dammy became an internet sensation after attempting to cook for 120 hours, days after Hilda Baci broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking hours by an individual.

At the time, she received the full backing of her pastor and her fellow church members. However, things went south between them for reasons best known to them.

A few weeks back, she called him out on social media and accused him of alleged threats to life, but she didn’t reveal details of the conflict.

Well, in a new development, the clergyman has filed a petition against her, demanding that she retract the threat to life allegation.

This prompted the police to invite her for questioning, which she honored. She was thereafter granted administrative bail after providing a surety.

The spokesperson of AIG Zone 17, DSP Hakeem, confirmed the incident on Thursday afternoon, November 23.

In a devastating incident that has sent shockwaves through Taraba State, the wife of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor, Mrs. Oluwakemi Moses Konye, was brutally killed by unidentified gunmen.

The Taraba Youths Transformation Initiative (TYTI) confirmed the tragic event through a Facebook post on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

According to the statement issued by Emmanuel Yakubu, the Executive Director of TYTI, the attack occurred on November 17, 2023, along the Wukari-Jootar highway.

Mrs. Konye, accompanied by her two-month-old child, was on her way from Akure to Taraba to reunite with her husband when the assailants struck.

The mother of one fell victim to a fatal gunshot, leaving behind her grieving infant.

The TYTI urgently called upon the Chief of Army Staff and the Inspector General of Police to address the persistent attacks along the Wukari-Jootar federal highway, which marks the intersection of Taraba and Benue State.

Despite the presence of military and police checkpoints, incidents like these continue frequently.

The statement further condemned the heinous act and spoke on the need for swift action against the perpetrators.

The tragic loss of Mrs. Oluwakemi Moses Konye has further emphasized the urgency of enhancing security measures in the region.

South African Man Receives 15-Year Sentence For Strang|ing His Girlfriend And Dumping Her Body In A Bush

A 26-year-old man, Mojalefa Stoffel Sebashe, has been sentenced to 15 years of direct imprisonment by the Sekgosese Regional Court in Limpopo, South Africa, for the murder of his girlfriend in 2019.

According to Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the Limpopo police spokesperson, Sebashe strangled his 28-year-old girlfriend to death at his parental homestead in Senwamokgope, Vaalwater Village.

He then dumped her lifeless body in a nearby bush.

The tragic incident unfolded on the evening of December 2, 2019.

The following morning, a community member discovered the victim’s body and promptly alerted the police. Murder charges were filed, and an investigation was initiated.

Sebashe was arrested soon after as a suspect in the murder, but the case was temporarily withdrawn pending further police inquiries.

However, he faced multiple court appearances before ultimately being convicted and sentenced to 15 years of direct imprisonment on November 22, 2023.

The conviction and sentencing of Sebashe have been welcomed by Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Limpopo provincial commissioner of police.

She strongly condemned gender-based violence and femicide, emphasizing that such acts have no place in society.

This case serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against gender-based violence, showcasing the need for continued efforts to combat these horrible crimes and protect vulnerable individuals across the globe.
