Following the recent faceoff between some soldiers and IPOB members in Aba and Umuahia on Tuesday, September 12th, the Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has appealed to the Nigerian Army to reduce the presence of its officers in those parts of the state.
On Tuesday, some military officers had a clash with IPOB members when they tried to access a road close to the leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu’s home in Umuahia.
IPOB members who were on their way from Aba to Umuahia to protect their leader had a faceoff with the soldiers, leading to the death of 7 of their members.
Governor Okezie last night, had a meeting with Traditional rulers and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) commanding the 82 Division of the Nigeria Army Enugu, Major General A.B. Abubakar, at Government House Umuahia.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Enyinnaya Appolos, the following are the highlights of the meeting:
1. The Governor and the Traditional Rulers appealed to the GOC to reduce military presence in the state, particularly at Aba and umuahia, as tension in the areas have gone down.
2. That the Nigerian Police and other security agencies should ensure that those who are brought into Abia from other states, in order to cause trouble and engage in acts capable of causing breach of law and order, should be prevented from entering the state.
3. That Traditional Rulers should further liaise with HRH Eze I.O Kanu (father of Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB) to further explore ways of restoring peace and normalcy.
4. That Abians and those who do business in the state should go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation, while desisting from acts capable of causing the breach of peace in the state.
A businessman, Oladimeji Isiaka, has gone bankrupt after losing about N25m to suspected fraudsters who defrauded him under the pretext of curing his headache, Punch Nigeria reports.
Isiaka, who lived in the Sango Ota area of Ogun State, sold his house and five cars to raise the money. However, after realising that he had been defrauded, he reportedly petitioned the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos State.
Investigations by operatives of the command led to the arrest of five members of the syndicate at their base in Ibadan, Oyo State. They are Alasela Ottun; Yetunde Mustapha, aka Iya Aje Funfun; Ibrahim Jimoh, aka Olobe Aye; Akeem Alabi and Oyegbile Lateef.
A police source said Isiaka was an in-law of Ottun and had sought his counsel sometime in October 2016 when he had the headache, which defied medications.
Ottun, from Iwo, Osun State, after defrauding Isiaka of a few millions of naira, passed him to Mustapha, who pretended to be a white witch with answers to all his problems.
Mustapha, 32, was said to have colluded with her boyfriend, Jimoh, who arranged a scheme through which millions of naira were collected from the victim. Mustapaha said she pretended to be a white witch whenever she spoke with Isiaka, adding that she wore white costume at Ottun’s shrine.
The chief herbalist, Alabi, 39, said: “It is whatever the people seek that we use to defraud them. Some talk about business boom, some about making money or moving to a higher level in life. We make some fake concoctions and collect their money.”
Lateef explained that Isiaka had been cured of the headache, but he craved wealth, adding that it was his greed that the gang exploited. He explained that Isiaka was shown a sack filled with fake dollars, adding that he was asked to bring N8m for the preparation of rituals that would enable him to spend the money.
He said, “Whoever is looking for cheap things will run into heavy losses. He thought we cured him of his headache, not knowing it was God. We just took advantage of that to defraud him.”
Mr Eazi is yet again trending on Social media, all thanks to his bold utterances which folks find unpalatable.
The singer, yesterday, on Beat FM radio show, spoke about his early steps, how he quit his job for his musical career, and also how his family reacted the first time they learned of his passion for music.
Here’s what he said:
“After I came back from Ghana, I got a job in oil and gas in Port Harcourt that paid about six thousand dollars per month but I quit because I was not finding fulfillment in it. I mean it was the same thing everyday, the same routine over and over again. The decision to quit the job finally hit me when my boss’ wife left him even with all the money he had.
After I left my job, I got my Masters degree and with all that qualification I started selling phones in computer village and everyone thought something was wrong with me. Even my mother started praying special prayers for me but my father didn’t add that final voice that would have decided my fate. My break finally came after I got an invite to do two shows in London that made me twelve thousand pounds which I used to shoot two videos.
When I told my mother what I did with the money she stopped talking to me for about three weeks. I had to move in with a friend because even my relatives didn’t want me around but everything finally changed when I went back to London for shows that fetched me really good money.”
But folks do not believe his story because they are currently roasting Mr Eazi on social media, with many people calling him a liar.
“Haaaa haaaa. From oil company to computer village. E come sell iPhone get ticket go U.K. do show hmmmm. Where did wiz get him from again?” Said one upset folk, and another added, “I think It’s $6000 per annum he meant??…let us forgive him as we forgave Lai and his jollof saga with Richard Quest Biko. But the problem is Mr Eazi won’t keep quiet, he will soon go and say another one over the weekend!”

Kechi Okwuchi of America’s Got Talent is super grateful to her fans for how much they have supported her all through her journey at the 12th season of the talent show, however, she wishes she would win based on her talent.
The 27-year-old during an interactive session with her followers on Instagram yesterday said she would love to win but feels it would be a little bit unfair if she did.
She said:
“It would be amazing to make it to top 10 but honestly if I make it that far, I think that is probably where I might stop just because I feel there are some people there who are good. There are a lot of singers and a lot of us know how to sing. I am so grateful to get this far but I feel like if I win it might be a little unfair because I don’t want people to vote for me based on my story and how much they like me and feel they are inspired by me. The main part of the show is the talent part and there are such amazing people that have amazing talents and I feel some of them may be more deserving. I remember being on the plane and feeling like everything was fine and I was with my friend who lived next door to me. I remember when the pilot made the announcement that we would be landing like 20 minutes at the airport that we would be heading to. I remember when the plane started really getting crazy and the turbulence started getting like way too much. I remember feeling this out of body experience. It looked like a movie. I remember holding my friend’s hands and she was asking what we should do like should we pray or something. Then there was this loud weird metal sound and I woke up in the hospital five weeks later in South Africa.There were 109 passengers on the plane and 60 of them were fellow students from my school. I was in a boarding school. Two people survived. Myself and the other lady that I did not know before the plane crash”
Nigerian comedian, Akpororo was about a fortnight ago, under fire after he made a joke about singer, Yung6ix splashing N3m on drinks.
Akpororo had joked that the ‘Blessings’ singer should use the money to buy a hit track – a not so calm about this joke Yung6ix then took to Twitter to react to the video, saying he never expected that from Akpororo, a comedian who he looked up to.

Some men of the Nigerian army have been caught on camera humiliating and torturing members of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).
The video currently making rounds online shows the soldiers ordering the IPOB members to swim in puddle mud.
The sad incident took place on Aba-Umuahia expressway on Tuesday.
One of the IPOB members was allegedly shot and died of bullet wounds, according to the video. The soldiers are in the South East to commence operation ‘Python Dance II” which many people have described as a militarization of the region.

The Indian police have arrested a gang of 10 Nigerians (between the age group of 23-37) from Delhi cheated several persons from different parts of the country in the past.
From the confessions and analysis of the material seized from them, it is established that, they have cheated several persons.
According to the police, a 36-year-old victim, who works as a Nurse in a corporate hospital in Secunderabad, accepted a friend request from one Agustin William, who introduced himself as a Pastor working in Northern Ireland.
After chatting for three months, the accused promised to send the victim gifts worth $50,000 along with I-phone, wrist watch and a gold set with pearls.
On March 15, the victim received a call from a man claiming to be a custom official working at Delhi Airport.
He asked the victim to deposit Rs 27,500 as registration fee to claim the courier and then continued to persuade her to spend money citing various other
After the victim paid Rs 9,37,000, she grew suspicious and approached the Cyber Cell, which registered a complaint and began investigations.
Based on the contents of the complaint, a case was registered under sections 417, 419, 420, 468, 471, R/w 34 IPC and Section 66 C and 66 D of IT Act.
A police team raided the hide out of the accused and seized 8 laptops, 26 mobiles/ I-pads, 10 internet dongles, 35 SIM cards used for commission of offence.

A baby girl born on the roadside by a mentally challenged woman in Ondo state has been named after Ondo 1st lady, Morenike Betty Akeredolu.
The baby who is currently receiving care from a local government social worker simply identified as Odunsola has received a birth certificate at Okitipupa local government council on Monday, September 12.

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that over 50 percent of teachers in the state penciled down for re-appointment as teachers, failed primary 4 test set for them as pre-condition for re-absorption into the civil service.
The governor who expressed surprise over what he described as “shameful performance of the students because their academic performance in secondary schools back home were convincing enough that they would do better outside Nigeria” also disclosed that students who were sent on overseas study are being withdrawn for poor academic ratings.
He said:
“This is a clear demonstration of the government’s effort towards improving teachers capacity for effective teaching and learning in public schools”
Recall, early last year, governor El-Rufai awarded scholarships to 30 female students, to study medicine at a university in Uganda.
The governor disclosed this when chiefs and traditional rulers from Southern Kaduna paid him a courtesy call.
The royal fathers, led by Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji Muhammadu Isah Muhammadu said they decided to visit the governor to express happiness over the recent re-opening of tertiary institutions closed down in Southern Kaduna, since December 2016, as a result of insecurity in the area.
The royal fathers, however, pledged that they would continue to support and cooperate with the governor, for peace and development in southern Kaduna and the state in general.
The traditional rulers also assured the governor of readiness to run errands for him as long as it was for the development and progress of the state.
Stakeholders had commended the state government for releasing N312 million for Teacher Professional Development (TPD) in 2016.
A Chinese couple with seven daughters have reportedly spent over 90,000 yuan (£10,345) buying a son from strangers in order to carry on their family name.
The couple, named Mr and Mrs Chen by media, have been arrested and charged by the authority of Fengshun County in China’s Guangdong Province.
According to a local report, the baby boy, just over a month old, had been abducted and sold to the couple, but Mr and Mrs Chen told the court that they had not been aware of the fact.
The incident was revealed by a recent report from a programmed called ‘Mingsheng 820’ aired on the Meizhou Broadcasting and Television Station.
Mr and Mrs Chen had been married for ‘many years’ and were desperate to have a son because of their ‘traditional mind-set’, said the report.
They had been trying to have a baby boy. However, all of the seven children they have are girls and they are aged between two and 18, Mr Chen told a reporter from Meizhou TV.
The couple who decided to buy a son were reportedly introduced by acquaintances to a family who had a baby boy ‘for sale’.
The family had been named the Wangs. On November 24 last year, they travelled from their home in Shantou city to Fengshun County to meet Mr Wang and their potential son.
Mr Chen later claimed that Mr Wang had ensured them that the baby had not been abducted, but asked them to pay 92,000 yuan (£10,586) as the ‘nutrition fee’.
The couple paid the money and signed an agreement with Mr Wang before taking their son back to Shantou, Mr Chen added.
However, it is said that as soon as they arrived in Shantou, they were arrested by the police from Fengshun County. The couple were informed that the baby had been abducted and trafficked.
The report said the baby had first been sold by a couple from Yunnan to a person known as Peng. Peng later sold the baby to another person known as Wu.
It was Wu who sold the baby to Mr and Mrs Chen and gained a profit of around 6,500 yuan (£748). The Fengshun People’s Court has brought charges on eight people involved in the case on suspicion of human trafficking.
Mr and Mrs Chen have also been charged with buying a child who was abducted. The court is yet to announce a verdict on both cases.
The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Lagos Command Detectives have arrested the killer of a Catholic priest serving in Imo State, Reverend Father Cyriacus Onunkwo.
The suspect, identified as Raphael Ndukwe, was tracked down to his hideout in the Ajangbadi area of Ojo, based on a tip-off.
Fr. Onunkwo was kidnapped in Imo State by gunmen on Friday, September 1, 2017 from his car and taken to Omumma, where his body was found the next day.
He was returning home to organise the funeral of his late father when he was abducted. Ndukwe is the leader of a kidnapping gang that had been terrorising Imo State for many months.
He escaped to Lagos after four of his members were arrested in the state. Ndukwe’s gang was also allegedly responsible for the kidnap of one Gloria Emordi who was said to have visited Imo State for a burial ceremony on April 22, 2017.
On arrival in Lagos, the suspect, nicknamed Tiger, settled down with some of his friends who operate as thugs at the Alaba International Market, Ojo, but later fled to Ajangbadi, when the heat on him became hot.
But the police in Lagos finally tracked down the 29-year-old suspect and arrested him on September 10, 2017. Soon after his arrest, he confessed to some of the crimes he committed both in Lagos and the South-East.
The told the police that this was not the first time he would be escaping to Lagos after engaging in a criminal operation.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji has described the crowns given to the new 21 kings in Ibadan by the Oyo State government as one made of carton.
The monarch stated this when the Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis paid him a solidarity visit at his Popo Yemoja Palace on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by the Director, Media and Public Affairs to the monarch, Adeola Oloko, he said that he waited for 40 years before he was made a king, urging the high chiefs who were crowned king by the state government to wait for their turn to become kings.
He said:
“I started as a Mogaji. I was moving step by step before I assumed the throne after 40 years. I thank God for that. We must all love one another. If you love yourself and hate others, your purpose of love is nothing. I was called by the elders of my family to come and become a Mogaji more than 40 years ago. I rejected it and for three years, they were persuading me.
“In trying to convince me, the representative of my family told me that it could be that one day I would become a king. I then accepted it and became the Mogaji of my family. “The Olubadan described as untrue and unfounded the statement credited to a group of Ibadan elders that Kabiyesi had consented to the controversial chieftaincy review embarked upon by the Oyo State Government resulting in the controversial crowning of 21 new kings.
“Oba Adetunji stated that the elders should not mislead Ibadan people into believing what he did not say, as what he said was that Governor Ajimobi, over whom they had come to plead, was his son and that he would not want a third party intervention over the matter. The Olubadan said for the avoidance of doubt, his opposition to the elevation of high chiefs to kingship status without domain remained the same.
“The Olubadan said that he could not see how he would bless the high chiefs who had refused to wait for their turn before stepping forward to take crowns from the government, contrary to our tradition and custom.
“The king said that the same Ibadan Elders’ Forum stoutly opposed the former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala’s move to elevate six baales in their letter dated April 24, 2009. On page two of that letter titled, ‘The composition of Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs’, signed by Ambassador Olu Sanu and Onaolapo Ajibola, they stated, “The (Ibadan Chieftaincy) system had worked for ages and ensured peace and stability in Ibadan land and the forum would therefore not want the government to tamper with the system in order not to create confusion and ill feeling.’
“The first-class monarch has therefore urged the Ibadan elders to stop contradicting themselves and creating confusion for peace and progress of Ibadan land.”

A 22-year-old man who claimed to be a farmer, Usman Jubril, has been arrested for allegedly vandalizing a solar energy system installed in Government College, Ajara, Badagry, Lagos State.
The father of two was apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps after he slept off at the scene of the crime.
The man who rvealed that he is an indigene of Maiduguri, Borno State, said he had gone to have fun on the premises of the school on September 2, after selling his goods and so he acted under the influence of alcohol.
He said:
“I am a farmer and live in Ipokia, Ogun State. I took cassava and corn to Badagry, but I didn’t make enough sales. I took the goods to Seme, where I sold everything. I came back to Badagry in the evening to have fun.
“I bought three bottles of gin and went with them to the school to watch a football match. I drank everything and took 500ml tramadol. In drunken stupor, I threw a stone at the glass housing the solar system and it broke. I went inside the facility and slept off.“I smoke Indian hemp, but that was the first time I would take alcohol. It was the drink that affected my faculty. I didn’t even know how I got to their (NSCDC) custody.”
Three Nigerians have been arrested in Germany for selling certificates to Nigerian men documenting fake marriages with Portuguese women in more than 70 cases, taking up to 13,000 euros ($15,600) each time.
Police in Germany and Portugal raided properties linked to a gang suspected of arranging fake marriages in order to make it easier for Nigerians to come to Europe.
Berlin police say they searched 41 homes and offices in the German capital early Tuesday, arresting five people.
Officers also seized passports, European Union residency permits, cell phones and storage devices.
According to Fox News, simultaneous operations took place in Portugal.
German federal police spokesman, Jens Schobranski said the suspects detained are a 50-year-old Nigerian man, two Nigerian women aged 46 and 50, and two German women aged 55 and 64.
Ghanaian actor, Samuel Nana Yaw Dabo popularly called Dabo, has disclosed that he is set to wed his sweetheart, Vivian Okyere soon.
Dabo told Ghanaian website, Ghpage that he has been dating Vivian for some time now.
In a video recorded in May, Vivian reiterated her love for Dabo, after the public expressed doubts about the authenticity of their relationship.
Vivian professed his love for Dabo, saying:
“My love for Yaw Dabo it’s natural, Don’t underestimate him, He is my heart.”
In a recent interview, Dabo said that he was crazy about Vivian and had accepted her love with alacrity.
He said they two of them understand each other, and dismissed suggestions that Vivian could be after his money.
He said Vivian genuinely loved him and was not in any way drawn to his riches. The actor said he could announce a date to wed Vivian sooner rather than later.

In an exclusive interview with LIB, Veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem has once again spoken about his famous beef with American rapper, 50 Cent.
Recall that 13 years ago, 50 Cent was confronted by Eedris in a Lagos airport. The American rapper was billed to headline the annual Star Mega Jam when a mild drama ensued aboard an ADC airline from Lagos to Port Harcourt.
It was reported that Eedris attempted to sit in a seat reserved for 50 Cent, but was prevented from doing so.
The ‘Jaga Jaga’ rapper who claimed he was protesting to the treatment given to foreign and local acts during the musical tour, said the beef was the revolution that got every artiste respected in the Nigerian industry and outside the country.
