Popular Edo state musician, Osayomore Joseph, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen around 10 :00 p .m. on Tuesday, in his village at Orovie, near Benin City.
His wife sustained gun shot wounds on the head in the process.
The Edo State Police Command Spokesperson , DSP Moses Nkombe, who confirmed the incident said police received report about the abduction around 11 :00 pm.
He said:
‘Security operatives have been drafted to hot spots across the state. The police would do its best to secure the release of Osayomore’
Reacting to the incident, the Edo State branch of the Performing Musician Association of Nigeria (PMAN ) has condemned the kidnapping of Osayomore.
‘Osayomore kidnap was an abomination because the victim was abducted shortly after he performed at the palace of the Oba of Benin’
State chairman of PMAN , Eghenova Willie, in a press statement called for the unconditional release of Osayomore just as he called on Governor Godwin Obaseki to beef up security in the state.

A Lagos hotel where Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) is siphoned from the pipeline of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has been busted by Operatives of the Nigerian Navy attached to the Operation Awatse yesterday, October 4th.
The operatives also arrested eight suspects including a Police Inspector at the premises of Glonik Hotel at 31, Social Club Road, Abule Egba.
Those arrested were Inspector Lukeman Rabiu of the Lagos Police Command X-Squad Unit, receptionist Gladys Daniel, waitress Rachael Oludara, housekeeper, Adegoke Adetunji, tanker driver, Waliu Teller, Oluwaseun Oguntoyin, Victor Vincent, 19 and Bobola Kuti, 28.
Inspector Rabiu allegedly had N1.4 million, a laptop and other valuables in his car. Sources said some police officers were already lobbying for Inspector Rabiu’s release.
It was gathered that three 33,000-litre tankers were loaded overnight with two left. The third one, with registeration number EPE367XE was said to have developed technical problems and was abandoned at an improvised loading bay beside the hotel.
When our Correspondent visited the area with some naval officers, two other empty tankers were seen on the street.
There were broken bottles, chattered windscreens, hoses and fuel-laden jerry cans inside the hotel. Also clips used to hold hoses on pumping machines were seen in Room 209, said to have been occupied by another fleeing policeman.
It was gathered that the hotel belonged to one Bashorun, who comes to meet with the manager, Osipo Chris and some of the vandals.
According to AWATSE’s Maritime Component Commanding Officer, Commander Chris Akokota, the place was uncovered about 8am.
He said:
“At 8am this morning (Wednesday), we got some information from Toplink Security personnel that some criminals perpetrating illegal acts of siphoning PMS products through an NNPC pipeline outside the hotel.
“Upon the information, we quickly deployed our men and when we got here, we realised that most of the top management staff had escaped through the back gate.
“The junior staff and a policeman, who had stayed here in the past six months, were arrested. We tried to investigate the situation and observed all. When we got here, we noticed the smashed screens and broken bottles. Apparently, there might have been a fight before our arrival.
“We discovered that a fully loaded tanker, which still had the hose on it was parked beside the hotel. It seems the tanker developed fault. We learnt that two others had left and they were waiting for the third one to go so that others can be loaded.
“We also saw about 16 jerry cans filled with PMS with six empty ones and they were all embedded in the vehicles parked in the hotel.”
However, Inspector Rabiu denied being a member of the gang, insisting that he only lodged at the hotel to meet up with his bi-weekly unit meetings.
He could however not explain why he chose that hotel, which was obviously off his route and several kilometres away from his office.
Inspector Rabiu also said he never noticed anything strange in the hotel and was not aware fuel theft was going on there.
He said:
“I do not know anything about it. It is not like I stay here permanently. I stay in Ogun State but in order to meet up with our meetings, I lodge here on the days we have meeting and I pay directly to the manager. I never noticed anything strange. I did not survey the environment. I have known this place for about five years and I just come here.”
A yet to be identified Twitter user has claimed that deceased, Tagbo who allegedly died in Davido’s car was Caroline Danjuma’s baby daddy, and father of her third child.

A student of Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Public Administration Department, Chinedu Iromuanya has reportedly attempted to take his own life by drinking a substance said to be ‘sniper’ on October 2 over an alleged carryover he had in one of his courses.
Reports gathered are that Iromuanya was sad because the polytechnic management had allegedly refused to clear him even after he had sat for the paper in 2016.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the student, an indigene of Abia State, has however been discharged from the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia on Tuesday as confirmed by a nurse who did not want his name in print.
Further findings, however, indicated that the management of the polytechnic had yet to report the case to the police station.
When contacted, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Silas Gyar, said he would not speak to PUNCH Metro.
He said:
“I cannot speak to PUNCH Metro because he is not on my appointment list; so, I don’t have time for him.”
The Nasarawa State Police Command said it would investigate the attempted suicide.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Idrisu Kennedy, made the promise on Wednesday in an interview with PUNCH Metro in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.
He said:
“I am just hearing this now and I do not think the management of the institution has reported the case to the police.
“I would confirm from our officers in charge of the area where the incident happened to unravel the reason for the attempted suicide.”

An Australian court is set to sentence a Nigerian post-graduate student, Jackson Igwebuike on October 25, after he was found guilty of importing methamphetamine worth $10million to Canberra.
The drug, worth N3.6 billion was imported by Igwebuike to Canberra in ornate golden fish statues in October 2015, but alert security men intercepted the drugs and substituted the ice before he collected the parcel.
The drug could have had “calamitous consequences” if sold in the community, federal prosecutors told the court.
Lawyers for the 34 year-old Nigerian, a graduate of University of Benin, agreed he acted as “more than just a mere courier” when he accepted delivery of about 8.47 grams of pure ice before he attempted to board a Murrays bus to Sydney with the drugs in his bag.
An ACT Supreme Court jury found him guilty of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug in August.
Igwebuike was caught in a police sting after Australian Border Force officers intercepted packages destined for Canberra in October 2015.
His trial heard the drugs were discovered when three 20 kilogram statues that arrived in a shipping crate from China were X-rayed by officers at Port Botany on October 8.
Inside one statue of a fish they found 43 packages that contained a combined total of 10.58 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Federal police had swapped the drugs with an “inert substance” before the fish statue was put back together and repacked.
Taps of Igwebuike’s phones picked up communication between the accused and another man in Igbo and with a freight company based in Sydney.
Prosecutors said Igwebuike used the name “Solomon David” and asked the company for the package to be delivered to an address in Kaleen.
Undercover police later watched as the packages were delivered to the address and collected by Igwebuike, who took them to a second address in the same suburb.
In a phone conversation with another man soon after, Igwebuike discussed transport and meeting places in Sydney.
He was arrested as he stood in a queue at the Jolimont Centre for a Murrays bus to Sydney on October 17.
Police seized a suitcase filled with 43 packages of the drug substitute.
Igwebuike said he hadn’t known the statues had been filled with drugs.
He said he’d been approached by two men in a carpark and asked to pick up some decorative glass items.
Those men later showed up at his house after he had collected the parcels and broke the statues open, before threatening to kill his wife and destroy him if he didn’t take the drugs to Sydney, he said.
Commonwealth prosecutor Edward Chen told a sentence hearing on Tuesday that Igwebuike had maintained he had been doing a favour for a friend and wouldn’t admit he committed the crime for profit.
“The offender does not seem to demonstrate any willingness to accept responsibility for his actions,” he said.
Defence barrister James Sabharwal said Igwebuike had come to Australia to study at the University of Canberra and the fact he would not now be able to complete his postgraduate studies was a form of punishment.
Mr Sabharwal said Igwebuike had worked in the kitchen at the territory’s jail and used his income to make phone calls to his large family, including his wife, in Nigeria.
Igwebuike, who didn’t “quite gel” with other inmates and was often alone, had been in custody since his arrest and could be deported when he was released, the court heard.
Mr Sabharwal said there was no evidence Igwebuike would have benefited from a large amount of money from his involvement.
Acting Chief Justice Hilary Penfold said some comments in a letter Igwebuike had written to the court, which indicated he did accept some responsibility, raised questions as to why he maintained his innocence to a pre-sentence report author.
The president of Breast Care International Dr. Beatrice Wiafe -Addai has urged men to handle the breast of women with care as it is a very fragile part of a woman’s anatomy.
Speaking on the sidelines of the breast cancer awareness month which is celebrated in October every year, Dr. Wiafe-Addai told Morning Starr host Francis Abban that contrary to claims that the sucking of breast by men reduces the risk of getting breast cancer in women, those claims are untrue.
“It is not true that the more you suck a woman’s breast it prevents the risk of getting breast cancer. What is true is that women who have children should breastfeed, and breastfeeding has some positive effect on the woman as far as breast cancer is concerned. But not adult men to go and suck the breast thinking it will protect the woman from breast cancer, that is not true, it is very fragile so let’s handle it with care…don’t squeeze it like you have some mango or orange that you are squeezing to get some fluid out,” Dr. Wiafe-Addai counselled.
Dr. Wiafe-Addai also advised men not to abandon women diagnosed with breast cancer but rather help to fight it.
“If you find something in a woman’s breast don’t send her to her family home because she has been diagnosed of breast cancer. Give her all the morale even if not financial. So that she knows that someone is with her through the fight. The fight against breast cancer is not an easy one so women need all the support from men, society and the nation,” she noted.
Meanwhile, a breast cancer survivor, Raheema Quaye, has been kicked out of her matrimonial home by her husband after she was diagnosed of the ailment.
“My husband told me to pack and our three children to pack out because he thought Breast Cancer was contagious when I informed him about it. I packed out and informed my relatives about it, but at a point they also abandoned me on reasons that they were going to get infected as well and even brainwashed my own children to abandon me,” she narrated on the Morning Starr with Francis Abban.

A woman, Bose Christopher, has been arrested for alleged involvement in cultism, 24 hours to her proposed wedding ‘introduction’ in Abeokuta.
The police said the suspect was arrested by the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, during the initiation of cult members in a hotel.
They said Miss Christopher had gone to the initiation ceremony with a boyfriend when she was arrested alongside other suspected cultists.
The accused spoke with Premium Times on Wednesday while being paraded alongside 30 other members of the cult group at the police headquarters, Eleweran in Abeokuta.
“It is true, I went with my boyfriend to the party and it is also true that my wedding introduction was scheduled to hold the following day I went to the ceremony with my boyfriend,” she said.
But Miss Christopher denied being a member of the cult group or knowing that her boyfriend, who she claimed she started a relationship with two weeks earlier, was a cultist.
“I met him (boyfriend) about two weeks ago and I never knew he is a cult member. He just called me after I closed from the shop to join him at the party,” she said. Funny!
A new deadly viral epidemic known as “monkeypox”, has broken out in Bayelsa State.
A medical doctor and 10 other persons who came down with the monkey pox have been quarantined in an isolation centre created at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) Okolobiri.
The isolation centre was reportedly created by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the epidemiological team of the state’s Ministry of Health to stop the spread of the disease.
It was learnt that the NCDC and the epidemiological team were tracking 49 other victims, who had come in contact with the infected persons.
The state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Ebitimitula Etebu, who confirmed the development, said samples of the virus, had been sent to the World Health Organisation (WHO) laboratory in Dakar, Senegal, for confirmation.
He described monkey pox as a viral disease caused by a group of viruses that include chicken pox and small pox, adding that the first case was noticed in the Democratic Republic of Congo and subsequently had outbreaks in West Africa.
Saying the virus has the Central African and the West African types, the commissioner said the West African type is milder and has no records of mortality.
Etebu added:
“The source is usually all animals. It was first seen in monkeys and that is why it is called monkey pox. But every bush animals like rats, squirrels, antelopes are involved. So, the secretions from particularly dead animals are highly contagious.”
The commissioner listed the symptoms of monkey pox as severe headache, fever and back pain amongst others, adding that most worrisome of all the signs were rashes bigger than those caused by chicken pox.

13-year-old Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa, sets a record as she got admission into the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana (KNUST).
At age 13, Ruth becomes the youngest student to be admitted into a University in Ghana – pursuing a bachelor of science (Bsc) degree in mathematics.
Ruth who’s a student of Space Workers College, has become the youngest candidate ever to be admitted to KNUST, one of Ghana’s most prestigious government universities.
Born on May 29, 2004 to Mr. and Mrs. Kwadwo Gyan-Darkwa, Ruth hails from the town of Berekum, in the Brong Ahafo Region, Ghana.
According to a report by The Chronicle, teenage Ruth Darkwa lives in Prempeh College, in Kumasi, where her father is currently a senior tutor for the school. Prior to her record breaking admission into KNUST, Ruth is said to have attended the Christ Our Hope International school.
She later went on to attend junior high at Abraham Lincoln International School, where she ended up taking (and passing) the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) held at the Justice International School Asuafua, in the Ashanti Region.
Ruth’s father, Mr. Kwadwo Gyan-Darkwa, disclosed that his daughter received admission into St. Louis Senior High at the tender age of 10, having been offered General Science.

Hollywood actress, Gabrielle Union has poured out her heart as she tells all in her new memoir – one of the things she reveals in the book is her struggle with infertility and failed IVF treatments.
The Being Mary Jane actress, who has been married to NBA star husband Dwyane Wade for three years, revealed in her new book that she’s had about eight or nine miscarriages.
Excerpts from the book titled We’re Going to Need More Wine shows her heartbreaking struggle to have a much-longed-for baby.
Union, 44, writes in the book:
“I have had eight or nine miscarriages. For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle.”
She writes that the hormones and procedures have left her with physical side effects, such as bloating, but that she remains committed to trying to conceive a baby.
In spite of the struggles, Union writes that she and Wade “remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we’ve both dreamed of.”
At first, Gabrielle and Dwayne Wade never saw kids as part of the plan when they got married but after realizing how much joy she felt raising three boys with Wade, Gabrielle discovered she wanted a baby.
She tells People: “I never wanted kids. Then I became a stepmom, and there was no place I’d rather be than with them.”
Gabrielle said she’s constantly reminded of her struggle each time she’s asked by both family and strangers alike when she’s having kids.
She says:
“For so many women, and not just women in the spotlight, people feel very entitled to know, ‘Do you want kids?’ A lot of people, especially people that have fertility issues, just say ‘no’ because that’s a lot easier than being honest about whatever is actually going on. People mean so well, but they have no idea the harm or frustration it can cause.
“Once a month I look like I’m in my second trimester because I’m bloated. It leads to the questions and it leads to the rumors and anytime I go into a doctor’s office I feel like I’m a member of SEAL Team Six undercover because I don’t want people to speculate.”
Gabrielle’s book will be out on October 17. She hopes that the way people approach her about the topic of childbirth changes after the release of her book.

27-year-old rapper, Iggy Azalea was caught on camera, with a deformed butt.. She was spotted going into an office building in Los Angeles yesterday.
The 27-year-old Australian rapper tried to hide her face with her bag as she made her way into an office building but that seemed to make paparazzi leave her face to concentrate on her curves, especially her butt.
One look at her butt and you’ll think it was just molded and plastered there by an amateur.
Also worthy of note is the fact that Iggy parked her Jeep in a handicap parking spot before heading into the building.
She also had a handicap placard hanging from her rear view mirror but it is not known if she has any injury to warrant the special parking space.

Senator Hamman Misau has disclosed that the Inspector general of Police, Idris K. Ibrahim allegedly had an illicit affair with two serving female police officers.
The Senator who represents Bauchi central senatorial district in the Senate, through Order 43 made this startling revelation after he stated that he was being attacked by the IG because he exposed the corrupt activities going on in the police.
According to PoliticsNGR, the senator dropped a bombshell shortly after, saying that the IG was involved in extra-marital affairs with two serving female police officers namely, Amina and Esther.
He said:
“Mr President, distinguished colleagues, instead of the IGP to address the issues I raised in my capacity as the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he was busy attacking me.
The IGP has been in sexual relationship with two female serving Police officers, that is one Amina and Esther. He impregnated Amina and did a wedding secretly in Kaduna.
As a former Police officer, I can say authoritatively that it is wrong for an officer to have a relationship with female Police officer because of the nature of that work.”
Hamman further stated that the manner in which the promotion of police officers were being handled by IG Idris Ibrahim was corrupt, adding that officers paid as high as N500,000 to get promoted.
He also asked the Senate to investigate occurrences where powerful individuals in the country would have up to 30 police officers guarding them, whereas commoners do not have police around them.
It will be recalled that Misau and the Nigerian police have been locked in a battle for some time now over allegations of bribery and forgery.

Nollywood Actress Yvonne Jegede Loses Pregnancy Months After Wedding .
It is no longer news that Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede took in months after she married the son of late Nollywood actress Bukky Ajayi but it seems the good news fans are eagerly waiting to hear is no longer coming.
The beautiful Benin born lady reportedly suffered miscarriage in late August.

A small but highly important ceramic dish from Imperial China sold for a world record £28 million ($37.7 million) in Hong Kong yesterday.
The ‘virtually unobtainable’ brush washer is around 1,000 years old and was commissioned by the imperial court during the Song dynasty.
It was made by Ru guanyao, which is one of the most revered of the Five Great Kilns used during this period.
The dish, which has a diameter of just 13cm and would have been used to clean brushes, has a glowing, intense blue-green glaze and ‘ice crackle’ pattern.
It was offered by Sotheby’s with a guide price of £10 million ($13.24 million), but there was a fierce 20-minute bidding war and the dish eventually sold to an anonymous bidder for £28 million ($37.7 million).
The auction house said the person behind the winning proposition wishes to remain anonymous, it’s unknown whether the buyer is from China mainland or elsewhere.
The price paid for the dish in Hong Kong is a world record for a Chinese ceramics piece, beating the £27 million ($35.7) paid in April 2014 for a Meiyintang Chenghua ‘Chicken Cup’.
A statement from the auction house said:
‘Today at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, a new world auction record for Chinese Ceramics was set when a highly important and extremely rare Ru guanyao brush washer sold for £28.2 million after a 20 minute bidding battle’.
‘While seemingly small and unobtrusive, these understated aesthetics reflect the calibre and meticulousness of its craftsmanship, a quiet metaphor of Chinese philosophy celebrated by erudite connoisseurs and scholars throughout time.’
It is most likely the dish was made between 1086 and 1106 and it is extraordinarily rare for a Ru vessel to be sold at auction.

That if i should marry him now, I will become a Christian, that I still have to take my fiance to Ilorin since my father is still alive but before getting home he had called my dad to tell him, immediately we got home that night, I received my father’s call yelling at me, saying different things, the worst of it all, he said I WILL REGRET IT, IF I SHOULD MARRY A CHRISTIAN.
He called my elder sister and my elder brother also my mum, saying that same thing, now everyone is afraid of him because he is someone who doesn’t care what happened, even if I die, he doesn’t care because he has other children to look up to, and my fiance find it so difficult to change or convert to Muslim, he said his mum won’t be happy besides he doesn’t like the religion and we don’t want to separate or go our different ways ,we find it so difficult to do, even me, I have a Muslim man who is ready to marry be but I don’t love him.
Am confused ,don’t know what to do, should I leave the man I love because of my father,what if I marry a Muslim and i see no peace there, or what if I marry the Christian and become one who is under Christ and with faith and prayer hoping no bad will befall on me. An Unidentified is all thankful to God, and apple, after her rose gold iPhone saved her life, during the horrific Las Vegas shooting on Sunday Night.
According to reports from DailyMail Uk, the woman showed her cab driver her damaged phone after the horrific attack, which has so far left 59 people dead, and ovr 527 injured.
A photo of the pricey and popular device shows the back of the iPhone completely shattered after being hit by a single bullet.
It’s unclear how or where the woman was holding the phone while fleeing the scene of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
Gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, died from what’s believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police say Paddock started firing down on the crowd of 22,000 people at the concert from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino.
His motive for the horrendous attack is being investigated by police and federal authorities.
