Yesterday, viral reports indicated that the Nigerian Army allegedly attacked the home of The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)’s leader, NNamdi Kanu, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The IPOB group, which claimed that the attack carried out by members of the Nigeria Army was an alleged attempt on the life of their leader, Kanu.

Now the, the Nigerian Army is reacting, and they have denied attacking Kanu’s home but admitted that it fired warning shots after being allegedly blocked from going through the FMC-World Bank road in Umuahia.

“It was a group of suspected IPOB militants that blocked the road against troops of 145 Battalion while on show of force along FMC-Word Bank Road in Umuahia town, Abia State at about 6.00-6.30pm, today.

They insisted that the military vehicles would not pass and started pelting the soldiers with stones and broken bottles to the point of injuring an innocent female passerby and a soldier, Corporal Kolawole Mathew,” said army spokesman, Major Oyegoke Gbadamosi.

The army which maintained that no life was lost in the incident urged the public to “disregard the rumours going round and the fictitious photographs of purported victims of attack.”

“Both the soldier and the innocent female passerby have been evacuated to the unit’s Medical Inspection Room and are receiving treatment,” Gbadamosi said.

The attention of 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, has been drawn to fictitious news going round especially on the social media that troops have invaded the home of Nnamdi Kanu and killed 3 persons.

This is far from the truth. A terrified mum thought her house had exploded when she woke after an Audi ploughed into her kitchen in the middle of the night.

The high-powered A4 soft-top smashed into the row of houses in the early hours as she lay in bed upstairs. Houses shook along the street when the car hurtled into the buildings at around 4am.

Dawn Jowett said she feared for her life thinking there had been a gas explosion which ripped through her house.

The 54-year-old raced downstairs in her pyjamas and found that an Audi A4 had driven through the wall of her kitchen in Stockport, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Water gushed from the damaged pipes as Dawn clambered over rubble and debris to escape through the hole in the wall.

But the ordeal could have been worse as her 15-year-old son’s bedroom is located directly upstairs from the kitchen but fortunately he was staying with a friend.

Dawn, who had returned home from a family party, said it was lucky her brother had not come back too as they would have been sitting in the kitchen having a cup of tea.

Witnesses who rushed over to help Dawn described seeing a bleeding man and another person running from the wreckage of the white Audi 2-litre cabriolet at around 4.20am.

The crash shook the row of terraced houses so hard that the neighbour’s cupboard doors flew open.

Police are now hunting the driver of the car and a bloodied man who was seen walking from the scene.

Two conflicting accounts have emerged about the incident that played out at the home of separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in Abia State on Sunday.

While Mr. Kanu said the soldiers stormed his residence and injured occupants in an attempt to take his life; the police said military personnel were only carrying out a procession to test a new armoured carrier.

“There was no attack on the home of Nnamdi Kanu,” Abia police commissioner, Leye Oyebade, told PREMIUM TIMES by telephone Sunday evening.

“What happened was that the military was parading a new armoured carrier and passed through Nnamdi Kanu’s residence.

“It was while they were passing that some people threw stones and other things at them,” Mr. Oyebade explained.

The police chief said normalcy has been restored and no life was lost during the minor skirmish and Mr. Kanu was neither targeted nor arrested.

But Mr. Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had painted a different account of what transpired at the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, saying there was a siege.

In a statement Mr. Ejiofor accused the Buhari administration of attempting to take his client’s life.

“Just to alert the world that the Nigeria military personnel under the command of Chief of Army Staff is presently laying a siege on my client (Nnamdi Kanu) country home in umuahia.

“They had continued to shot sporadically into the air through which assault, about five of his family members were brutally wounded and some unfortunately killed. There is no doubt that the present deployment of troops to the South East is to haunt for my client and possibly eliminate him,” the statement said.

Mr. Ejiofor added that if something goes wrong with his client’s life, the international would hold the country’s president responsible.

“Let the whole world know that if anything untoward happen to my client, that President Buhari and his Chief of Army Staff should be held responsible by the international Community.

” We are presently counting the number of casualties as the onslaught progress. The world should be immediately notified about the tension in Biafra land, created by the government in power. We must adopt all know legal mechanism to resist the unconstitutional but violent approach in dealing with unarmed people merely operating within the confines of law. Buhari must be held responsible.

“We are ready to present our case once more before the International Court of Justice. The families that lost their beloved ones in the last year may 29th violent attack by the military are yet to recover from the shock of losing their love ones. This situation must be arrested in time. ”
The Army spokesperson, Sani Usman, did not respond to calls to seek the Army’s official reaction to the incident.

The Nigerian government is currently pursuing revocation of Mr. Kanu’s bail, after the IPOB leader allegedly breached the conditions of his bail which was granted to him by the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, where he faces treason charges.

The revocation motion, which was filed by the Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, is expected to be heard in October.

Barely 24 hours after the Nigerian army said it would begin its second phase of Operation Python Dance II in the South Eastern states.

Video shows soldiers in armored tank and some patrol vans allegedly invade the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu while some IPOB supporters tried to resist them.

The video also shows one of the IPOB supporters who was shot as the military personnel kept shooting live bullets to disperse the irate youths.

Joseph Akilo, a guard with the Aviation Logistics and Management Limited (ALML), on Saturday morning, returned the sum of $3,338 (about N1, 218,370) of a passenger on Virgin Atlantic Airways flight out of the country to London, at the Lagos airport.

The money, which was in two separate envelopes, was left behind by one Frank Abenemi, after going through profiling at the counters of the airline. Akilo, however, discovered the envelopes when he was clearing the check-in counters of the airline, after the closure of boarding at around 8:35 am.

He then took it to the Station Manager of Virgin Atlantic (Gloria). SaharaReporters gathered that the second envelope contained the details of the owner of the money. The pilot was said to have called out the name of the passenger through the cockpit address system.

Upon inquiry from the owner, Abenemi insisted he didn’t lose any money, but when he was asked about two envelopes with some dollars, he immediately checked his hand luggage, but could not find the money there. It was then it dawned on him that he had misplaced the two envelopes.

He was probed on the exact amount of money in each of them, which he answered correctly. Then, the envelopes were handed to him.

Reacting to the news, a source said: “Without telling anyone, as some of the workers there might want to convince him not to report it, Akilo secretly took the envelopes to the Station Manager of Virgin Atlantic (Gloria).”

It was gathered that Akilo is one of the junior staff of ALML and earns N25, 000 monthly as a salary.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s childhood classmate and former senator, Abba Alli, has declared that the president should run for a second term in 2019 in order to fully sanitise the political system.

Alli made this comments in reaction to the calls by some politicians that the President should not contest in the 2019 general election, or that he should even resign as a result of ill-health.

In an interview with Punch, Ali maintained that the President was full of life when his childhood classmates of 1953 paid him a visit in his hometown, Daura, during the Sallah holidays.

He said;

“President Buhari is hale and hearty; let me first clear that impression on his health,”

“Those urging him to resign on health grounds have forgotten that God is the creator of mankind and he has the final say on when one will die.

“I have seen an old man in Katsina here who was in coma for four months, yet the old man thereafter lived for another eight years before he eventually died.

“I have also seen a situation where a man was seen today in good health and died the following day not as a result of accident but normal natural death.

“President Buhari should go for a second term in office. He has started a good job which is acknowledged both within the country and globally. And it is better he contests again for a second term in office so that he can finish the good job he has started.”

Alli maintained that there is scarcely any politician in the country today who compares to Buhari in terms of sincerity and love for the people.

He described the President as a man who is;

“not out to accumulate wealth but to put Nigeria in its appropriate place in the comity of nations”.

“Based on my experience in politics and with my age, I am saying it with all seriousness that I have not seen anybody among the current crop of politicians in the country who has a good intention like President Buhari,”

“Many of them have amassed enormous wealth meant to take care of their people. Many are still stealing blindly.

“President Buhari stands out among the current political class in Nigeria. I will rather encourage him to go for a second term so that there will be sanity in the political sphere.”

After weeks of warning and planning for its arrival, Hurricane Irma finally made landfall in Florida this morning.

It made landfall in the Florida Keys with 130 mph wind gusts and already, more than 1.35 million people are without power and according to weather experts it’s all just beginning for the state.

Construction cranes in downtown Miami were a major concern ahead of the storm because officials didn’t have time to take them down before the storm. Now, it has cracked and fallen in the downtown area.

The crane is over a building under construction, according to Rick Seara with the City of Miami. It’s located across from the Federal Prison but luckily there are no injuries.

Wife of Hector Jobarteh has paid a tribute to her late husband, who was brutally murdered by unidentified assassins.

On Thursday, September 7, 2017, Oseyi Jobarteh wrote a post titled “Happy Birthday My Love” on her blog, “thesecretlifeof678”.

It was Hector Jobarteh’s posthumous birthday. The Season 3 winner was murdered on Saturday, September 2, 2017, happened shortly after the deceased returned from the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Ikeja.

In her post, Oseyi Jobarteh wrote

“We were going to grow old together, be that crazy old couple that terrorised the street kids and banged our canes on iron structures just because we could.

“You said you’d shun my tradition and get a plot somewhere in Ibadan or yonder so we’d be buried side by side and frolic the afterlife together.

“You never mentioned anything about leaving me with the kids you so desired, making me a widow before our 5th wedding anniversary and depriving me of the will to live.
“It was always me before you cause we agreed you’d be able to cope better.”

“People call and ask how I’m doing.
I’ve lost my freaking better half, how do they imagine I am doing?
The truth is I am not “okay”, “fine” or “doing better”.
I am angry with a lot of people and at you too Hector.
Royally pissed, enraged… Heartbroken.”

Oseyi Jobarteh ended her post saying she is going to bury her husband in one of his finest suits.

Three suspects had been arrested in connection with the murder of the Gulder Ultimate Search winner according to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole.

He said, “The residents picked the faces of some of the suspects, which aided police investigations. Three suspects have been arrested.”

According to Punch Metro, it was gathered that the assailants had lost track of the deceased at first when he entered his apartment, but after threatening one of the tenants of the residence, he directed them to his apartment, where he was shot.
