Doyin Okupe, the former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and former member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced his switch to the Accord Party in Ogun state.
Doyin Okupe shockingly declared exit from PDP about three weeks ago on the reason of not been functional at the present dispensation.
Okupe revealed his new step in a Press statement posted in his Facebook page this evening.
Read the Press release:
“Following various consultations with political associates, family and friends I have decided to formally join the ACCORD Party.
My decision is based on deep reflection on who I am and what I want from politics.
To me politics does not begin and end with winning or losing elections. It’s not about big or small parties either. It’s also beyond personal relationships or endearing associations or friendships.
There exists in our communities several platforms on which such affiliations and sentiments can be sufficiently gratified.
To me, Politics is about, Service to the people, policies and ideologies that will serve the best interests of the greater majority of the society, Forthrightness and accountability, Honour and Integrity.
I am not desperate to be anything anymore. But I am desperate to find and work with other Nigerians especially our young and vibrant upcoming politicians, to establish a political incubator to breed a new generation of leaders who will do things right, maintain high ethical standards and abhor greed, avarice, selfishness and impunity.
Most of our national parties presently and in the past were put together with a false sense of national spread but majorly, irrespective of how they came to power, end up being inequitable and manifestly exists to serve the interests of a minority few and/or that of a tiny section of the country.
I want to belong to a political party that will be able to publicly state it’s position on troubling national issues like, requests for self determination by a section of the country, resource control, federalism and Restructuring, Religious intolerance, atrocities of fulani Herdsman, unequal standards in national university admission policy, and many more.
Any political party that does not have an openly stated position or Stand on these issues is a mere association of elites coming together only to feather their own nests or at best a deceptive political contraption put together by a few to seize power for a few and for the benefit of a few.
An official date of declaration by me and my numerous supporters in Ogun state will be announced shortly.
Accord Party is the political party formed by the former Governor of Oyo state, Chief Rashidi Ladoja at the verge of last Gubernatorial election in Oyo state.

A distraught father caught his 17-year-old teenage daughter having sex with her first cousin, who has been identified as Mustapha.
The angry father filmed the confession of the 21-year-old young man, and the video is currently trending online. In the video, the 21 year old confirmed the sex has been happening between them for a long time now.
The man also blasted his young daughter who was involved in the act, as she felt remorseful. He later asked his nephew to apologize to her for taking advantage and convincing the teenage girl to have sex with him.
After Lai Mohammed announced plans of the Federal Government to impose a ban on shooting music videos, movies outside Nigeria, it has of course generated a lot of negative buzz by entertainers.
In a long note, Veteran rapper, Ruggedman highlights reasons why the move is not only wrong but totally out of place.
Read;
Sir,
You can not privatise what you do not own or have control over.
Meet with real Nigerian entertainment stake holders and not people who have milked our entertainers with their platforms. Meet with the real stakeholders and discuss the way forward. Discuss how the Federal government can get involved with the Nigerian creative industry the right way.
It is wrong to try to bully your way into the Nigerian entertainment industry you did nothing to help build.
It is absurd to say you will ban entertainers from shooting music videos or movies abroad. Your reason being that we go there to enrich their economy with Nigerias money.
Not while government officials have their children schooling abroad.
Not while government officials all go abroad for medical treatment and vacations .
Not while government officials continue to import bullet proof cars that are not made in Nigeria.
All these amount to billions of Nigeria’s money being spent abroad.
IF YOU WANT ENTERTAINERS TO STOP GOING ABROAD TO SHOOT MUSIC VIDEOS AND MOVIES, THEN GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SHOULD STOP GOING ABROAD FOR HOSPITALS,VACATIONS AND SCHOOLS.
WE CAN USE ALL THOSE BILLIONS SPENT IN FUNDING FOREIGN ECONOMIES TO EQUIP OUR SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS AND OTHER PARASTATALS.
They are our leaders and so have to lead by example
Trying to ban private owned businesses (entertainers) from doing part of their business abroad will go against the democracy your party preaches.
THINGS YOU NEED TO DO:
1. First of all, shelve the talk of banning entertainers working abroad. It is not what the creative industry needs from the government and it is a terrible look for you. Nobody likes a bully.
2. NO STRUCTURE MEANS NO ALTERNATIVE:
Since we do not have a proper structure yet, put a hold on your $1m venture capital for the creative industry.
You say the money is seed money for young and talented Nigerians to set up businesses in the industry. How do you know the young and talented ones if you do not work with the registered Music and Movie bodies?
You will only be enriching a few and wasting money our country needs.
So you need to help the existing Music and Movie unions set up a proper structure that can be monitored before you talk about giving money out.
Money is needed, but a structure is needed more urgently.
3. PMAN AND AGN VISITED YOU
I for one know that The President of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN ) Mr Pretty Okafor and the President of the Actors Guild Of Nigeria ( AGN ) Mr Emeka Ike along with a few executives met with you in Abuja and discussed a beautiful plan to put a proper structure in place for Nigeria’s creative industry.
One of the plans that was discussed with you was a conference tagged “Creative Industry Summit” and I see you were involved in a similar event recently tagged “Creative Industry Financing conference”.
We are surprised that nobody from the movie or music industry was present to speak at a conference for the ‘’CREATIVE INDUSTRY’’.
Sir, the stakeholders who spoke ath the just concluded Creative Industry Financing conference are not Nigerian veteran musicians or Nigerian record label owners. Neither are they from the Nigerian movie industry.
4. DISCUSS WITH ENTERTAINMENT STAKEHOLDERS 1ST, BEFORE BUSINESS STAKEHOLDERS.
We did not see the likes of Kenny Ogungbe “Kennis Music” , Tade Ogidan, Obi Asika “Storm Records”, Tunde Kilani, or Eldee “Trybe Records”.
These are some of the people who suffered and played great parts in building our Nigerian music and movie industry.
But the men at the Creative Industry Financing conferenceare you were part of are individuals who schooled “abroad” and own platforms that have made and are still making money using Nigerian entertainment.
But most of the artists whose works they deal in do not have half the money these men have made with our interlectual properties.
Sir, these intelligent businessmen can be in an advisory board to help build a structure to enrich both the owners of the intellectual properties and the Nigerian economy.
4. Revisit the plans the new PMAN president Pretty Okafor discussed with you when he and some executives met with you in Abuja some months back. Plans which involve setting up a proper structure to encode and barcode all intellectual materials by Nigerians.
WE NEED POLICIES TO
5. GET RADIO AND TV STATIONS TO PAY ARTISTS ROYALTY:
For eons, Nigerian radio and television stations have amassed billions of Nigeria from using Nigerian artists hard work without paying the artists. This is where you can come in and set up a policy that will make sure they start paying artists whose work they use.
They already make a lot of money from adverts placed by companies.
Sir, this move will be a ground breaking one in the Nigerian entertainment industry and it will be to your credit.
6. STOP TELECOM COMPANIES TAKING 70% OF ARTISTS MONEY:
Sit quietly with REAL Nigerian entertainment stakeholders and discuss the way forward. Not with individuals who have milked entertainers through their platforms for their personal gains. Especially the TELCOS.
TELCOS sell our songs/ringtones and take 70% while the owner of the work gets to share 30% with a content provider. IF YOU ARE TO BAN ANYBODY, IT IS THE TELCOS WHO DO THIS.
6. CURB PIRACY:
Follow the guidelines to curb piracy that the PMAN President Pretty Okafor introduced to you. Which included, setting up a task force empowered to deal with people found dealing in pirated entertainment materials.
PMAN is the recognised parent body for Nigerian Music, just as The AGN is to the Nigerian movie industry.
Both Presidents are veterans in their fields and are also businessmen. So sir, they undertand both worlds.
I am an entertainer and I know a lot of what we lack and what we need. Placing a ban on Nigerian entertainers going abroad to shoot music videos and movies is the last thing we need from our government.
Helping our creative industry to build a much needed structure, thereby creating a conducive environment for both local and foreign investors to do business is what is needed.
Lets work together to further grow and capitalize on a Nigerian creative industry that has managed to boom without any government policy..
Let the government make policies that will protect and expand our creative industry to benefit the entertainers and the Nigerian economy.
But it can not be achieved by brute force.
Or sir, you do not want them to come to Nigeria to shoot parts of Furious 9?
Sincerely yours
Ruggedman

Peter Okoye and Ruggedman has reacted after Collins Edwin, the APC youths National Secretary, described Peter Okoye as the “son of darkness”, and urged security agencies to arrest the PSquare brothers for Peter’s comments against the Federal Government.
The Statement signed by Collins Edwin reads;
“We read the scurrilous remarks credited to Mr Peter Okoye of the Psquare group against the Federal Government’s job-saving policy in the entertainment industry with great anger and vexation.
“Least of all persons to make scathing remark against the government is the Psquare group which the local content policy of the Federal Government dusted-up from the valley of obscurity.
“Where was Peter Okoye or Psquare brand in 1999 when foreign music dominated our airwaves? If not for the government policy which mandated all broadcast stations in Nigeria to pay attention to Nigerian music by playing 95 percent of Nigerian songs every day, would Peter Okoye or Psquare be known to anybody in Nigeria today?
“Or would they have competed with better American music which dominated our airwaves then?
“After the government have used its policy to brush them up from nothing to something; instead of giving opportunity to other people, they are taking Nigerian jobs to foreign countries through the shooting of music videos abroad.
“Now that government have intervened to raise great and better entertainers again, Peter Okoye has the gut to insult the entire Federal Government by calling our great leaders ‘Ndi Ala’ which means mad and stupid people. How dare you say that Psquare?
“We, therefore, urge the security agencies in the country to arrest Mr Peter Okoye for disrespecting our government and bringing it to a disrepute.
“If you cannot produce in Nigeria and hire Nigerians, then leave the industry. We must export Nigerian culture to the outside world through our music and videos.”
Well, Ruggedman has fired back at Collins, while Peter Okoye joined in the banter, mocking the National Secretary of APC Youths.
Peter said: “Abeg make him Oder Egusi, pounded yam and goat meat join for the arrest??? I knw those youth will start from 70 and above?? Onye ala?”

A 55-year-old woman who killed her mother by giving her an overdose of drugs and smothering her with a pillow has been found guilty of causing her death.
Shirley D’Silva of Morland Road, Croydon pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Monday, 17 July to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. She will be sentenced at the same court on Tuesday, 18 July.
On 25 October 2016 at about 16:10hrs, D?Silva dialled 999 and told the operator that she had just killed her 77-year-old mother Martha Pereira at the home they shared.
When the operator asked what happened, she replied:
“Erm, nothing happened. I just decided to take her life.”
When the operator asked D?Silva “what made you do this today?” she replied:
”It’s the world we live around. We’ve been suffering too long. Nobody’s doing nothing about it. Somebody has to come forward and do something about it.”
She told the operator her mother had been unwell for a long time. Later on in the call when asked by the operator “did you do it because you don’t think you were getting the help you needed?”
she replied:
“No, no. It’s not, it’s not that. It’s about the world, the war around the world going on.’
D?Silva remained on the phone until officers arrived at the scene.
She remained calm at first and when asked what happened, D?Silva told officers:
“I have just killed my mother. I have given her an overdose of insulin and I have suffocated her with a pillow.”
Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service carried out CPR on Mrs Pereira but she was pronounced dead a short time later at a south London hospital.
A post-mortem examination showed the cause of death was consistent with an insulin overdose and smothering.
D?Silva was arrested on suspicion of murder at 16:18hrs on 25 October. She was charged on 27 October.
When interviewed by officers D?Silva told them a man had told her to kill her mother, and he was now telling her to kill her husband and son.

“As far as I’m concerned, I’m richer than Aliko Dangote because the little I have is enough for me. I have never put myself in a very tight situation.
“This is my sixth year as a senator and I’m still living in a rented house. I don’t have a house in Abuja but I believe when the time comes I’ll have it.”
“People voted me into this office. So, I should not just come here to serve myself and my children.
“What I promised people was that I’m not going to be perfect but on every naira I get, I’m going to spend 60 kobo on them and the remaining 40 kobo on myself. This is the principle that I operate. “
In her conversation with The Cable, Malala has now revealed her reason for coming to Nigeria and basically with the meeting that started around 6pm yesterday.
She said:
“I met the acting president of Nigeria, and the goal of the meeting was to highlight that the government on the local level, on the state and on the national level must be united in the fight for education. It should be the top priority, so I asked him to declare a state of emergency for education. I had three specific asks, one was to increase spending by 300 percent; to triple the current spending.
The second was to make all the spending public, and then my third was to implement the child rights act in all states, so they should make sure it happens. These were my three asks from the acting president.”
Malala, who had once been in Nigeria in 2014, led a campaign to the then President Goodluck Jonathan for the release of the Boko Haram abducted Chibok girls. After her visit, the Federal Government necessitated the successful plans to recover more than 100 Chibok girls.

Rapper Yung6ix has berated Lai Mohammed after he revealed about the proposed ban on Music Videos, Movies shot abroad.
Seems like Lai Mohammed has angered some people..
Since the news of the proposed ban on Music Video shoot, Movies abroad.. Folks have condemned the proposed ban, with many saying the Federal Government have gone too far.
Peter Okoye also reacted to this news, and he totally condemned the act. In a series of tweets, he wrote;
Even his Elder brother, Jude Okoye reacted to the development;
‘Smh. An industry they NEVER encouraged, supported or empowered is what they now want to control. Let all of you stop running to abroad when you are sick as na naija money una dey use patronize oyibo hospital dem. You people are the ones refusing to fix our health facilities so u travel out when mosquito bite una.
So why tell us where to record when u can’t provide uninterrupted power here in Nigeria. Sometime I wonder how we got it all wrong. Una children when dey sch for abroad na which money una dey use patronize them? Abeg stfu!’
Now, Rapper Yung6ix isn’t having any of it, and he’s taken to Twitter to air his thought.
Of late, cases of women raping men in Zimbabwe has become rampant. A father-of-four, kidnapped and raped by two women for days to the extent that his penis became bruised, has come out to tell his story and it’s really pathetic.
People have been sceptical about the stories being told of an increase in female rapists and this is because the victims prefer to be silent due to shame. However, the latest victim, a 48-year-old father agreed to speak to The Standard on the condition of anonymity.
The victim, Chivamba (not real name), is a teacher from Mashonaland East who lives in Chitungwiza. He said he never believed the stories about female rapists until it happened to him.
Chivamba had tears in his eyes as he recounted the incident, saying it left him “confused, traumatised and dejected.” He said he still relives the nightmare and hopes the women will get caught soon and be brought to justice.
?No man would ever want such an experience and as for me, I would give anything to avoid a repeat, even in a dream,? he said.
Recalling the sad incident, he said:
“My family stays here in Chitungwiza and I was on my way back to Macheke after a weekend visit when this tragedy happened.
I usually prefer to use buses when travelling but as fate would have it, that day I flagged down a private car, a BMW and it stopped. The driver told me that he was going to Mutare via Marondera and that was perfect for me.
There were three women already in the car, one sitting on the front passenger seat and the other two on the back seat. I got in and sat with the two women at the back and we took off.”
He said everyone was very friendly and the driver seemed to be in a romantic relationship with the woman sitting with him in the front.
“They were all drinking beer which was in a cooler box and when we got to Ziko shopping centre they stopped to refill. One of the ladies offered me a beer and I politely turned her down since I was not feeling well. I settled for a cascade which she handed over to me.”
Chivamba said as they approached the Dema toll gate the driver took the dust road which many other drivers used to avoid paying toll fees. At this time, he said he had finished his drink and was already feeling dizzy.
“I thought maybe it was the effects of the tablets that I had taken that day since I was having a running stomach. I fell asleep and the next moment I found myself in a small room with a small bed. I screamed but no one came to my rescue. My manhood felt itchy and when I looked down I realised I was bruised.
I felt weak and I was confused. Then the two women who I was sharing the back seat within the car entered the room. They appeared to be much younger than the one who was seated at the front. They began removing their clothes and told me that they wanted me to have sex with them. I refused but one of them who appeared very drunk produced a pistol and told me that she would not hesitate to kill me.
“They tied both my hands, and began caressing me like what happens in a porn movie. They would take turns to suck my manhood and forcibly having sex with me. I was made to take another drink and soon after I had an erection. They would not stop raping me despite my pleas for mercy. One of the women used a condom but the other one wanted unprotected sex.”
The next day the women, while masked with a woollen hat, brought food for him into the room where he was locked. Later that day, they bundled him into their car and they drove for some time before he was dumped along Wedza-Murambinda road.
“That was my first time to be in Wedza. I was assisted by some young men who directed me to Wedza centre where I reported the matter to the police. The police then took me to hospital where I was given treatment for the bruises on my manhood and also medication to prevent infection. I am grateful to the police and the staff at the hospital,” he said.
Chivamba sustained injuries on his manhood, suffered chest pains and was put on 30-day medication to prevent him from contracting the HIV virus, a medical report shows.
He now moves around with the aid of crutches, and each time he goes to pee, the scars on his manhood bring back the memories of how he suffered at the hands of the female rapists.

In a video clip that has gone viral on social media, an Indian woman was viciously beaten by her in-laws for giving birth to a girl amid a dowry dispute.
The disturbing clip, taken from the top of a flight of stairs, shows the woman screaming as she is lashed with hockey sticks from the front and back by two men, her brother in law and one of his friends.
According to Local reports, The victim, identified as Meena Kashyap, was beaten last week after her husband’s family heard she had made a previous violence complaint in April.
The 35-year-old from Patiala, Punjab, gave birth to a girl whom her husband’s family refused to accept and a number of beatings followed.
The pair were also involved in a dispute over 700,000 rupees (£8,300) that was given by the bride’s parents to her new husband’s family at their wedding.
A dowry was traditionally given to a bride going to live with her new husband as a means of supporting herself with her new family and in lieu of regular inheritance.
Today the system is mainly used as a means of income for the husband’s family, with additional demands being made even after a wedding, and often around the birth of a child according to the Daily Beast.
Dowries are technically illegal, as thousands of women are killed and abused over the payments each year by their in-laws, but are still widely practiced.
Charges are being brought against her husband Daljit Singh, his brother Kamaljeet and friend known as Gaurav for a number of crimes such as ‘trespassing’ and for ‘voluntarily causing hurt’.
The victim’s father told local news outlets:
‘We had complained about the issue last year itself but nothing was being done regarding that.
‘They have been married for the past two years now and have a girl child. Their family asked for 700,000 rupees for dowry.’
The incident was brought to the public’s attention when the video went viral on social media platforms across the country.
The issue of dowry, which has long been a controversial issue in rural India, has also become a hot topic since the video surfaced.

Her words: “My husband of 17 years was a good man who took care my needs and that of our three children”.
“He didn’t offend me, I was just mad at him and after having sex with him, I took a pillow and covered his month and Oladapo Dolapo, the guy I hired for the job stabbed him to death”, she lamented.
Olafimihan Adeoye, Osun state police commissioner, while parading the suspects said the incident occurred on May 27, 2017.
But, the woman said the deceased did nothing to her to warrant the killing, saying that though she regretted her action, it was just her desire to kill the husband.
Dolapo, the 24-year-old suspected killer also explained that the woman enticed him with promises of a befitting accommodation and other largesse to punish her husband by killing him.
The Osun police chief further explained that one Engr. Salawudeen Adesina Jimoh of No 3, Engr. Adesina Salawu Street, Osogbo reported the incident on May 12, 2017 to the police.
“Engr Jimoh told the police that on that fateful day at about 3:00am, two unknown persons entered his brother’s house at No 11, Adeniran Street, Alleluyah Estate, Osogbo and stabbed him to death with knife and nothing was carted away”.
Based on the report, police directives and other officers on patrol visited the scene of the incident where inscriptions: “No Price No Pay, Aye Axe And Forgiveness Is A Sin” were found on the wall of the house of the deceased.
Adeoye said the police arrested Dolapo first and when quizzed confessed that he was hired by the wife of the deceased to kill the husband with promises of a better life.
However, investigations by the police revealed that Omotayo participated actively in the killing of her husband, even as the police chief assured that the case could be charged to court, soon.
