“Not everything that glitters abroad is gold” – Reno Omokri sparks debate with advice for people who want to “japa”

Social media influencer, Reno Omokri has stirred a heated debate on social media with his message urging Nigerians considering emigration to think twice before pursuing the idea of greener pastures abroad.

In a thought-provoking tweet, Reno cautioned against falling for the rosy picture painted by friends who have successfully “japa’ed” (emigrated).

Reno highlighted a common occurrence experienced by those who manage to travel abroad, he claimed that there is a change in attitude from friends already settled abroad. He pointed out that some friends may avoid contact as they never truly expected their friends to secure visas, fearing that they might be burdened with accommodating them.

Moreover, he emphasized that many immigrants who thrive overseas are financially independent, engaging in businesses that do not require physical presence or leveraging intellectual property, e-commerce, or monetized social media.

The influencer shed light on the harsh reality faced by numerous immigrants who find themselves caught in the relentless rat race. Working multiple jobs, often enduring a grueling 9-5 schedule, they risk losing their possessions should they miss three consecutive payments.

Reno argued that owning a bungalow in Lugbe, FCT, or a flat in Oworonshoki, Lagos, places individuals in a better position than many of the social media personas whose lives are heavily mortgaged.

Reno’s message has triggered a lot of reactions on the internet, with some commending his frankness, while others criticize him for interfering in their personal choices.

Regardless, his words serve as a reminder for those who plan to JAPA to approach the decision with caution, as a lavish lifestyle abroad shown by their peers may not always match the reality.

“If a woman is playing hard to get, she most likely doesn’t like you. Walk away!” – Wale Jana reacts to Will Smith and Jada’s marital crisis

Wale Jana reacts

Nigerian businessman, Wale Jana, has taken to social media to react to the marital crisis of American superstars, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

The Hollywood couple was recently in the news after Jada granted an interview where she disclosed that she and Will have been separated and living apart for 7 years after growing tired of trying to save their marriage.

She also referred to the late rapper Tupac Shakur, who passed away in September 1996, as her soulmate, sparking mixed reactions from those who felt slighted by her statement because she has been married to Will for 27 years.

Wale Jana reacts

In reaction to their marriage saga, Wale Jana took to his Instagram page to offer a piece of advice to men, using Will as an example.

He advised men to distance themselves from any woman who is playing hard to get because they are most likely not physically, mentally, and emotionally attracted to them.

“Proverbs 12:4 “ A worthy wife is a crown for her husband, but a disgraceful woman is like cancer in his bones.”

All of us know Will Smith, he has been one of the iconic figures on our screens for the past 20 years and every year he just gets better!

However I think he made one mistake in his life; he married the wrong woman and he loved her obsessively and passionately and all she gave him back in return is embarrassment, disgrace and shame. Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars because he insulted his wife (now we know they had even been separated for 7 years)

How do you deal with a wife who keeps telling everyone that the real love of her life is Tupac and that if Tupac was alive, she would never have married Will Smith! How do you deal with a wife who told the world she cheated on Will Smith and that she was forced to marry him?

Will Smith on the other hand has never spoken a derogatory word against her, he has treated her with so much honor and respect.

The big lesson for this is that not all women can be loved! Your sacrifices, devotion, success and years of commitment will not change anything if you are with a woman who is determined to disgrace you at all costs.

Men please watch out for the red flags if she’s playing hard to get she most likely doesn’t like you! Walk away! Don’t be a mumu and let her trample all over you! Because once you set that pattern you may have to live that way throughout the marriage.

May you hug this wisdom in Jesus name.”

“A woman you did not meet and marry as a virgin has no business wearing white gown on the wedding day” – Nigerian man says

Nigerian man says

A Nigerian man, identified simply as Neo, has expressed the opinion that a woman who has lost her virginity has no business wearing a white gown on her wedding day.

Neo shared this controversial view on the microblogging platform X on Saturday, October 15, in response to a post asking netizens to share their unpopular opinions about weddings.

According to him, a non-virgin woman shouldn’t wear white on her wedding day because the color symbolizes purity, and she is no longer pure.

Nigerian man says

He also added that a non-virgin woman has no right to demand an expensive wedding.

Read his full post below,

“A woman who you did not meet and marry as a virgin has no business using a white wedding gown on the wedding day. White Signifies purity, so a non-virgin has no business wearing a white wedding gown,” he said.

“Your wedding should never cost more than 20% of your annual income. If you make 150k monthly, that’s N1.8m annually. Your wedding should not cost more than 360k.

“Any woman who will not align with your budget for a wedding has no business being your wife in the first place. 3b)A woman who you did not meet as a virgin is not even in any position to demand an expensive wedding.

“Insanity is having a dream wedding that you wouldn’t be funding or contributing a dime to. As a man, it is not your duty to fund the teenage wedding imaginations (dreams) of women

“Irrespective of all the billions you spend on your wedding day, you will not satisfy all your guests, and it will not have any bearing whatsoever on the success of your marriage

“More than 70% of women are much more interested in the wedding than they are the marriage.

“Stop allowing the media and society to brainwash you into believing the wedding is all about the bride. The wedding won’t hold if the groom is not in attendance. It’s not her day anything, it’s a day for both the groom and the bride”

“Why I agreed to film our intimate moment” – Moyo Lawal opens up on leaked tape

Popular Nollywood actress, Moyo Lawal, has finally talked about the leaked tape she recorded with her ex-fiance.

Recall how the actress gained attention on social media last month with the release of a video showing her engaging in sexual activity with a man.

Taking to her Instagram page, Moyo said that she only engaged in sexual activity twice in 2017—one of which led to the leak of the tape.

She said that despite the fact that he doesn’t reside in Nigeria and that they were already planning a wedding, she agreed to record the tape with him.

She stated she had to break up with him because of a lack of communication, noting how she generally puts her life on hold for every man she encounters.

In her words;

“Until a lioness tells her story, every hunter will continue to be a hero. People always take quiet, non-problematic people as fools. However, I think it is time for me to start talking.
One thing… I can tell you for a fact however that things are never what they seem to be. I only had xxx twice last year, one of those times is the video.

That I agreed to because he started recording after the fact, he doesn’t live in Nigeria, but he put in a lot of work winning my trust over the years and I mean a lot. So much so, we were already working towards a house, marriage, and all. That is why I had to break up with him last year, when I started having communication challenges with him because I put my entire life on pause with any man I am dating.

I have not made so many sacrifices by turning down so many dating offers, sleeping alone 90% of my entire adult life, choosing to be alone .. to having an ugly video that happened when I was ill, hanging over my head ( meanwhile to the set of unbelievers who actually thought that video was released by me, because of a foolish narrative that started because I didn’t point fingers or start trash talking or blaming anyone and stayed quiet to end it all quickly …

I honestly don’t know what to tell you ) The rest of my caption is in my slides)
P.S. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and changes you. I pray I become carefree and outgoing because doing life the right way has shown my enemy shege.”

“My romance with Venita was not a strategy” – Adekunle reveals

Reality TV star, Adekunle Olopade has declared that his relationship with Venita Akpofure was not a strategy to get votes.

Adekunle disclosed that, despite not being in a relationship last year, he was a finalist in the “Level Up” season in a recent interview with Miracle OP.

According to him, Venita’s intelligence attracted him to her.

He said,

“I don’t think we both navigated around ourselves as a strategy.” Because, as you may have noted, we were constantly present in the room. We constantly took ourselves away from everything that was going on in the house. So, in the back of my mind, I don’t think that’s a strategy.

We were just at ease with ourselves. Because there was more craziness in the House. “We were like, no, this isn’t going to affect us.

Thank God we found ourselves. But, you know, real-life events, we’ll see what happens as time passes.”

In other news, Adekunle Olopade has spoken out on his justification for refusing presents from fans addressing his relationship with Venita outside Biggie’s house.

“I’ve worked in Hollywood, but I prefer Nollywood” – Actor, Wale Ojo

The Nollywood actor who began his acting career there in 1986 said that he likes Nollywood because of the vibes and camaraderie.

In an interview with The Punch, Ojo made this claim and said that, despite Nollywood still having a ways to go in terms of high production quality, he always learns something from the movie industry.

He said,

“The industry in Nigeria is growing very fast. . We are just a different set of people, right from the way we work and relate with one another. The vibes and camaraderie of Nigeria is just unique. Yes, we have a long way to go in terms of high production values but I prefer to come back to Nigeria after I have worked in Hollywood and other industries across the globe. I always learn something whenever I work in Nigeria. I cannot even remember how many movies I have shot in Nigeria.”

The 55-year-old actor also discussed how his mother’s influence on his profession and choice to pursue acting were significant.

Ojo said,

“My mother helped with the decision, but she did not know I would take it seriously. I remember about 50 years ago, she told my uncle that he should be coming to pick me up to the TV station– Western Nigeria Television, which is now NTA, Ibadan, Oyo State.

My mother’s picture is on the cover of ‘Wedlock of the Gods’, a book (play) written by her best friend, Zulu Sofola, who was a great female writer. The play was first performed in 1973. I am trying to shoot a documentary to mark the 50th anniversary of that play this year. We are hoping to do it at Mokola, Ibadan.”

Additionally, he recalls working with “Godfather” co-star Al Pacino in Hollywood, saying it was one of his most memorable acting experiences.

“There are so many and they are all over the world. One of them was featuring alongside Malon Brando and Al Pacino in ‘The Godfather’. The other I wished happened but it didn’t was working with Hubert Ogunde in the movie ‘Mr Johnson’. I was one of the three actors who were considered to play the role but they went for another actor. Nevertheless, I was still very happy to have gone that close. That would have been a dream come true, because I grew up watching Hubert Ogunde on TV in Ibadan.

Also, I remember featuring in a movie titled ‘Streets of Calabar’. At the start of the movie, we used the Calabar Carnival in Cross River State as part of the film. I went on stage and performed in front of a huge audience. It was lovely. Another memorable moment was performing ‘Wedlock of the Gods’ in London. In addition, I love the character I played in ‘Blood Sisters’. I also did ‘Phone Swap’ with Kunle Afolayan. One of my big projects till date was ‘Foundation’ for Apple TV, which was shot in several countries, including Northern Ireland and Malta. It was the pay check from ‘Foundation’ that served me for seven months during the COVID-19 pandemic in Dominican Republic,” the actor said.

The 34-year-old TV host stated this during a recent episode of the Bahd and Boujee podcast, which she co-hosts with reality TV star Tolani Baj.

Media personality, Moet Abebe

She explained that she can’t date someone who lives on Lagos mainland because of the distance to the Island. She wants her man to be able to come to see her anytime she wants, without excuses.

In response, Tolani, on her part, said she can date any man, no matter where he lives, as long as he is wealthy and can afford to move around with their own security.

“Apart from that, I noticed that a lot of people are getting married for the wrong reasons. A lot of people are doing it because of the pressure [from the society].” She said.

“Why I converted to Christianity” – Singer Khaid

Nigerian singer and rapper, Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon, professionally known as Khaid, has revealed that he converted to Christianity from Islam.

The “Anabella” crooner said he was raised in a mosque and was born to a Muslim father and a Christian mother.

Khaid asserted that his father compelled him to attend the mosque when he was younger and that he eventually converted to Christianity because he disliked visiting there.

The 19-year-old stated during a discussion on the Zero Conditions podcast that his parents gave him and his brothers the freedom to practise whichever religion they wanted.

Aside from his father, the singer also disclosed that his older sister and younger brother are Muslims, while the rest of his family is made up of Christians.

Khaid said;

“I was a Muslim before because my dad was a Muslim and my mum was a Christian. So, I just felt the connection to Christianity more.

Right from time I didn’t like going to the mosque actually. My dad forced me. But my parents were free minded people.

They told my siblings and I that we can choose any religion we want. But we live among Muslims and my dad doesn’t want it to seem like he doesn’t have control over his children so he used to force me to go to the mosque.

At that time I was trying to please him so I was going to mosque. But after some time, I switched and started going to church. My elder sister and younger brother are Muslims. But me and the rest of the five are Christians.”

He said,

“I was sitting somewhere doing my thing. Mercy Eke was here, and Pere was there, and they were just having a farting competition. That’s when I knew that this thing is definitely solid.”

In other news, Cross Okonkwo revealed that the All stars season was dark and toxic and he almost took a voluntary exit as a result of it.

The Season 6 and Season 8 finalist made this claim during a recent interview with fellow reality star, Miracle OP.

The Anambra-born brand ambassador, however, claimed the entrance of house guest, Kim Oprah on the show helped stabilize him.

He said;

“A lot of things happened over the time I was in Big Brother House. I was a bit sad for about two or three weeks.

There was a period of time that I actually wanted to go to Big Brother and tell him that I’m done. I really wanted to leave the house.

The House was so dark; fighting, arguments, toxicity. It was just a different energy that I could not see myself happy. I could not see myself really doing much.

There were a lot of strong energies and they were dimming me. I couldn’t be myself…The House got to me certain times compared to my first season.”

“I was 4 years old when my father left us” – BBNaija star, Pere

Big Brother Naija All Stars housemate, Pere Egbi, has stated that because his father has never been a part of his life, he dislikes being associated with his state of origin, Delta.

The former US military officer disclosed that his mother raised him and his sister and that this is why he is from her state, Bayelsa.

The Nollywood actor said this in a recent interview with TV and radio personality, Hero Daniels. Pere disclosed that his father left the family when he was just four years old and his sister was only three.

However, he claimed that the absence of his father had little impact on him since other men in the family had stepped in and effectively filled the fatherly position.

Pere said;

“I like to say I’m from Bayelsa State because my mum is from Bayelsa. My dad, however, is from Delta State. My father has never been a part of my life at all.

He left when I was about 4 and my younger sister was 3. He used to live in America before I was born. He came from America and married my mum, and then went back to America. A bunch of things happened, and my parents ended up separating. So, I was raised only practically by my mother.

I’m the first child and the only boy. My mum was the only one who did everything to make sure we had shelter, good education. She paid our school fees from kindergarten to secondary school. And then, I left Nigeria for the United States to do a nursing degree.

But before that, I joined the US military and served for six years. After serving, I came out and started my degree. I grew up in Warri because that was where I was born.”
