A total of five people, including two women and three men, were on Monday, caned outside a mosque in the conservative province of Aceh in Indonesia, which adheres to Sharia law.
A 34-year-old woman (pictured) was flogged with a rattan cane at least seven times for being in close proximity to a man who is not her husband.
The 32-year-old male who was with her was also flogged seven times.
“It hurts so bad,” the woman said, as cited by AFP, raising her arms into the air.
Two university students, both 19, received 100 lashes, after confessing to having sex outside marriage.
A man found guilty of sex outside marriage was also flogged at least 22 times by the person delivering the punishment, who was dressed in long robes and a hood.
His partner, who is two-months pregnant, is still waiting for her fate to be decided.

An accident victim, James Omase, was reportedly refused medical attention for three hours on Saturday by the Kubwa General Hospital, Abuja over his inability to pay a N3, 500 bill, reports Punchng.
Omase, 20, was taken to the hospital around 6pm but the medical personnel refused to attend to him until around 9pm, when his employer showed up and paid the bill. He was riding a motorcycle along Arab Road, Kubwa, when another rider rammed into him, causing him to fall and sustain injuries.
The victim, who worked as a security guard in a residential building, lost two teeth and also sustained an injury on his upper lips, had bruises on his head, right upper arm and on both hands.
Omase said, “I was on the ground in pains and people were passing by, nobody volunteered to take me to the hospital. It was a friend who saw me lying along the road, that took me to the hospital. But when I got there, the nurses said they won’t attend to me until I paid N3,500 for treatment. .
I told them I had N2,500 but they refused to accept it or attend to me. I was lying on a bench in pains for many hours. It was a neighbour, who learnt that I was involved in an accident, that went to inform my employers, who came to the hospital around 9pm and paid the money before I was treated.”
The acting Secretary, FCT Hospital Management Board, Mrs. Alice Odey-Achu, expressed disappointment over the conduct of the nurses, saying their action was unacceptable.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Monday November 28, 2016, docked one Okwara Victory before Justice I.B Gafai of the Federal High Court Awka in Anambra State, for charges bothering on obtaining by false pretense to the tune of $8,674USD.
When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty on all counts of the three count charge preferred against him by the EFCC.
In view of his plea, the Defense Counsel Barr. Emma Onyibor applied for the bail of his client adding that his client had been on administrative bail granted him by the EFCC, and had not defaulted but reported regularly to the EFCC whenever he was needed.
But the Prosecuting Counsel Barr. Habila Jonathan informed the court that he was served the motion for bail, shortly before court proceeding and needed time to study and respond.
The court upheld the argument of the EFCC counsel as the Judge was yet to study the bail application which the defense also served the court shortly before proceedings. The court then ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody, while the case was adjourned to December 6, 2016, for hearing and consideration of bail.
One of the charge against the accused person reads: That you Okwara Victory sometime in the month of April 2016 at Onitsha within Awka Jurisdiction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, with intent to defraud did obtained the sum of N1,332,420 (one million three hundred and thirty two thousand four and twenty naira) being the naira equivalent of $4,190 (Four Thousand One Hundred and Ninety US Dollars) from one Ekweaba Oyemechi when you falsely represented yourself to him that your girlfriend who lives in America will send you $4,190 (Four Thousand One Hundred Ninety US Dollars ) meant for your return ticket to America, a pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to section1(1)(a) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.

Little Marwa, one, was struck by a brain-damaging virus in September that led to doctors insisting she be allowed to die. She had been placed in an induced coma ever since as work was done to try and prevent any further neurological disorders.

Olamide has finally set the records straight concerning his protege Lil Kesh’s label, YAGI.

Authorities at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, have confirmed the death of a final year student who reportedly committed suicide.
A final year student of agricultural engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who is also reported to be a participant of the Mavrodi Mondial Movement investment scheme (MMM), has committed suicide.
Premium Times reports the student, identified as Tobechukwu Okeke was found on Sunday morning, November 27, dangling from a rope in his room at Odenigwe, a community in Nsukka, Enugu state.
The deceased was said to have left a note behind where he apologised to his family, according to accounts by a neighbor close to the family.
The contents of the note read: “Mother, Father, brother, I’m sorry. Ify, may your children never suffer. Uncle Mathias, you gave me all. I am sorry. Death calls. Linguistic department, I am sorry. Okeke Tobechukwu S. 2012/185649,” the neighbour, who did not want to be named, quoted
Though the cause of Mr. Okeke’s death is yet to be ascertained, some of his neighbours suggested that he was in debt, some said he was tired of schooling, others attributed his suicide to the loss of money in a network business he invested into.
The deceased’s last Facebook posts showed he had been involved in the controversial MMM scheme as he used his account to advertise the scheme.
His last post, in September, read: “MMM is enriching lives of millions of Nigerians everyday. If you care to join or you have any questions please send me a message or comment below.”
One of the deceased’s colleagues, who also did not want to be named, said he was given an electrical wiring job to do at the department of linguistics in the university, because of his expertise in electrical works.
“I saw him this (Sunday) morning, he seemed to have a problem which he needed money to solve,” the colleague added.
The university authorities have also confirmed the incident, but said the family had not officially informed the institution.
Uju Umo, the university’s dean of student affairs said: “I travelled for a burial last weekend and yesterday I got a text message saying a student had committed suicide.”
“It happened at Odenigwe, one of the host communities outside the school and I was told he left a suicide note apologising to his fellow gamblers.”
Similarly, Chukwu Emmanuel, the university’s student union president, also confirmed the incident, and said the matter was being investigated.
“There’s no concrete details for now,” he added.
People close to the deceased described him as a comedian who always used jokes to awake sleeping students during night classes.
“He used to go around to classes at night to crack jokes and encourage students to forget their worries and focus,” a friend told Premium Times.
Recall that the House of Representatives recently asked the EFCC and the Central Bank of Nigeria to immediately go after the promoters MMM in Nigeria.
Lawmakers strongly opposed the investment scheme, which lately gained popularity among Nigerians in the wake of the current economic recession in the country.
MMM promises 30 per cent return on investment for any money put into the scheme within 30 days.
The investment scheme has a Russian origin and involves directing clients to make money available for an anonymous person with a promise of 30 per cent return within one month.

An accountant with a lubricant producing firm in Ikoyi, Lagos State, Femi Akinola, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly stealing the company’s $50,000.
PUNCH Metro reports that the company – Eterna Plc – had sent 30-year-old Akinola to withdraw the sum from the United Bank for Africa in the Marina area on Thursday, November 17.
On getting back to the office, he reportedly told his boss that he was kidnapped on the way from the bank, saying his abductors dispossessed him of the money and his phones.
However, Akinola was subsequently arrested by the police and police investigation reportedly revealed that he faked his own kidnap.
He was said to have led the operatives to the fence of a primary school in the Bariga area, where $30,000 concealed inside a concrete block was recovered.
While parading the suspect on Friday at the Lagos State Command headquarters in Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said Akinola stripped himself and threw his phones into a river to perfect the ploy.
He said:
“The suspect worked with a multinational company in the state. He was sent to withdraw $50,000. After withdrawing the money, he faked his own kidnap and claimed that the kidnappers collected the money.
“The police have been able to recover $30,000. He confessed to have given out $15,000. We are making efforts to recover the remaining sum.”
However, Akinola, who hails from Ondo State, denied feigning his abduction, saying one Kingsley, who purportedly lives in United Kingdom, colluded with a fraudster to swindle him out of the money.
The father of two children said Kingsley’s accomplice hypnotised him, adding that the man had left before it dawned on him that he had been defrauded.
He said:
“I am also into music. I used to chat with one Kingsley in the UK, who wanted to help me with my music career. I chatted with him that day and I told him that I just withdrew $50,000. He told me he needed $15,000. He sent somebody to meet me around Marina to collect the money. It was after the person collected the money and my phones and left that I came to my senses.
“I was confused and didn’t know what to do. At that point, I decided to hide the remaining $35,000 at the back of a primary school in Bariga, and left for Epe to commit suicide. On getting there, I changed my mind and reported to the police that I was robbed.
The suspect stated that he was known for honesty, which had earned him awards from the company every year.
“I earn over N120,000 per month. I didn’t have intention of using the money to promote my music career. That was not the first time I would withdraw money for the company as an accounting officer. I had withdrawn more than that in the past. I have been working with the company for five years,” he added.

We know people have been waiting to see what the offspring of the super-hot Gbenro Ajibade and his former Miss Black USA wife looks like, and we can say they did just fine.
An apprentice, identified simply as Grace, has allegedly absconded with the two children of her employer, Mrs. Suliyat Azeez, in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos State.
The incident happened on Friday, less than 24 hours after Grace resumed apprenticeship at Suliyat’s workshop on Ora Street, PPL bus stop, Okokomaiko. The children she kidnapped have are Farouk, 4; and six-year-old Kafayat.
According to PUNCH Metro, Grace fled with the children after they returned from school that fateful Friday and went to their mother’s shop.
She claimed she was going out to buy food and asked the children to accompany her. Only to abscond with them. Nobody had Grace’s contact or knew her place of residence.
The victims’ mother, Suliyat, said she had gone for a meeting of hairdressers when the incident happened. She said,
“The girl came to my shop on Wednesday and said she wanted to learn hairdressing. I asked who her guarantor was because she said she came alone. She said she stayed with a friend in the area and she would have come with her, but the friend had gone to work.
“On Thursday, she returned and bought soft drinks and biscuits to celebrate the commencement of her apprenticeship. I even shared the drinks with people. That was the day she started working.
“On Friday, I planned to go to her place of residence, but I had to first attend a meeting of hairdressers in the community. When I returned from the meeting around 4pm, I was told nobody knew where she went to with my children and we started searching for them. I believe she hypnotised my children.”
The victims’ father, Fatai, a mechanic, said the family had reported the incident at the Ojo and Okokomaiko police divisions. He said other efforts at finding the children had been abortive.
“The girl just identified herself as Grace. She should be about 20 years old. My wife couldn’t collect her phone number because her phone (Suliyat) was faulty. She just decided to admit her because the girl asked for help. We don’t know any of her relatives and friends,” Fatai added.
A relative, Mr. Sanni Saidi, blamed Suliyat for not getting a snapshot of the suspect, adding that it could be difficult to find her.
He said,
“On the day of her induction, Suliyat could have taken her snapshot. She could have taken her phone number. But she didn’t do all these and I think she should take the blame. This shows the extent that people could go to execute their devilish intentions. How could you steal two children without any fear of God? We appeal to the security agencies to help us find the children.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the matter was not reported at the police stations. She urged the parents to go back to the station nearest to them, “so that investigation can commence.”
