A Consultant Gynaecologist, Dr Nathaniel Adewole, has urged all sexually active Nigerians to take the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine, to prevent them from contracting the virus.
Adewole, said in Abuja on Thursday that the vaccine would be more helpful to men or women who had multiple sex partners.
According to him, the virus is the leading cause of cervical cancer.
“Any man or woman who has multiple sex partners stands a high risk of getting the virus, and the virus cannot be cured, it can only be managed.
“The virus can be transmitted from man to woman, especially those who have multiple sex partners.
“It is better when you are not HPV exposed; you know most virus do not have treatment, they can only be managed.
“A person can take the vaccine to prevent him/her from having it and a woman that is not HPV positive can take the injection in order to prevent it.
“The best advice for the man if he has it already is that his wife should go for screening,’’ Adewole said.
According to him, people who have multiple sex partners, early exposure to sex, and people who engage in unprotected sex stand the risk of contracting the virus.
He said that cervical cancer was one of the leading causes of death among women, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
Adewole, therefore, advised women to do regular cervical screening or Pap smear in order to detect and treat whatever could lead to cervical cancer at an early stage.
He further advised HPV positive women to continue to undergo Pap smear screening while non-positive women should have the screening done at three-year intervals.
One of the questions that bothers many gospel musicians is whether it’s alright for them to perform at nightclubs. While others argue that it’s a good way to reach out to souls and draw them to Christ, there are those who believe that performing in a nightclub is biblically inappropriate.
“Change Over” singer Mary Agyemang joins the list of gospel artists who believe performing at a nightclub is okay.
According to the singer, a gospel musician should always be ready to perform at any event as such platforms only present another opportunity to spread the gospel.
“We are to go anywhere and preach the gospel so I’ll go,” she said. “If I don’t go to the nightclub, who will be there to deliver the message to them. I always say that we should not be hypocrite. Will you be tagged as a sinner if you perform at nightclub?”
Agyemang pointed out that many people just want to preach the Word in church yet there are many sinners out there who need to be reached out to.
“We always want to preach at churches so how will the sinners outside the church know Christ,” she asked. “The Bible even tells us to go everywhere on this planet to preach the gospel but didn’t say only the church.”
Asked specifically whether other artists who have chosen to stay away from the club are hypocrites, she gave an emphatic yes and asserted that “if you won’t go and preach to them, who should go there? They are being hypocrites. If you tell me you won’t go there you are a hypocrite because you do not know the lifestyle of the person at church you are always preaching to.”
Some people argue that by performing at a nightclub, a Christian musician gives a bad image, which is likely to send people further away from Christ. The argument is that people whose weakness is clubbing may not quit if they see professed Christians joining them at the club, whether to spread the gospel or otherwise.
When it comes to preaching the Word of God, many Christians say it’s important to look for a neutral place to spread the word. Let it not be a place that can send wrong signals to those who don’t totally agree with Christians going to nightclubs.
For example, what happens when a pastor is seen walking into a brothel? Will people view him as someone going to preach the Word of God or simply giving in to his lust? Even though he might be going into the brothel to win souls, his action is likely to send more people away from Christ.
Still, others insist that it really doesn’t matter what people think as long as your intention is to spread the gospel word.
Speaking to thousands of supporters at the party’s victory rally in eDumbe‚ KwaZulu-Natal‚ on Saturday‚ Zuma said he is not threatened by political parties who approach courts to scare him.
“People think democracy is done at courts. They never mention the will of the majority‚ they always talk about courts. They never even speak to us about democratic debates because they know we are good at debates. They think by going to courts they are intimidating the ANC. We are not going to be intimidated‚ even if it means I get arrested today‚ I am used to it. I have spent a lot of time in jail‚ you cannot threaten me with jail time .I am not scared of jail I have been there‚” Zuma said to loud cheers from the crowd.
The Democratic Alliance won a court application to review the dropping of a corruption case against Zuma in the High Court.
The party will once again lay corruption charges against Zuma following the release of former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s Sate of Capture report.
“This next week will be the moment of reckoning for our country. We have to speak out against this attack on our Constitution and our democracy and fire Jacob Zuma immediately‚” DA leader Mmusi Maimane said in a statement.
Zuma said opposition parties who approach courts on political matters are misrepresenting democracy.
“People who can’t argue democratically always rely on courts. They love courts so much. That’s misrepresentation of democracy. We must debate issues‚” Zuma said.
The president was in eDumbe to thank voters for their support in the local government elections which took place in August.
His address marked his first public appearance in the country since the State of Capture report was released on Wednesday.
Zuma did not address allegations made against him in the report.

Commercial sex workers at Adansi-Obuasi in the Ashanti region are calling on government to as a matter of urgency legalise the trade in Ghana.
They want government to either provide them alternative jobs or legalise the present trade.
According to them, life has been unbearable considering the current economic conditions in the country.
The commercial sex workers explained that they only sneak to have sexual bouts with their clients in hotels, clubs and other joints.
Prostitution if legalised they stated, will enable them operate freely and not being harassed by security personnel.
They are also promising to vote massively for any presidential candidate that will heed to their concerns.
A representative of the aggrieved sex workers in an interview with Obuasi-based Shaft FM Mama Sweet explained that if government legalises prostitution, it will help them make proper savings adding that monies generated from their night work is not enough due to the time limit.
She promised to vote for the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) if it legalises prostitution.
‘We want government to legalise prostitution by giving us licenses to operate, so that we can work morning, afternoon and evening. Some of us were introduced into prostitution by our friends due to lack of financial support from family members,’ she stated.
Nigerian actress, known as Nurse Titi (Nkechi Emmanuel) who studied History and International Relations before delving into acting has revealed that she is a jealous lover and can kill for love.
The actress who has starred in many blockbuster movies in a chat with Saturday Vanguard revealed she can do anything for love.
Speaking further, the actress revealed that she will soon be getting married, although she gave no definite date.
While talking about love, the actress revealed: “I can kill for love. Love is a good thing and when I find it, I am a very jealous lover. If anyone blocks my path, I can kill that person.” she said.
Asked what she thinks about how much actors are paid in Nigeria, she added: “We are not well catered for. I have been opportune to do one or two short movies in Hollywood. M and one other guy were the only Nigerians in the film. Over there, we were pampered; I must confess. If you complain of headache, you will be allowed to the green room. But here in Nigeria, even if you are dying, you must go on because you have been given a certain amount of money.”

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the rescue of a Chibok girl following multiple reports of the achievement.
In a recent release by acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the Chibok girl was rescued by troops of 121 Battalion with her son.

Bishop. David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church worldwide AKA Winners Chapel, has reportedly appealed to those criticising the school fees charged by Covenant University to desist from it so to avoid incurring the wrath of God.
Oyedepo, in a telecast to a pre-Shiloh 2016 Convention gathering of the church monitored via satellite in Jos on Saturday, said the critics were acting in ignorance and risked incurring the wrath of God.
He said one of such critic was smitten with a strange plague of chronic mouth odour over the act. He only received spiritual pardon following his confession and “my intervention before he was restored to dignity”.
The Guardian reports Oyedepo said the issue of school fees paid by students of the university was a godly agenda to meet the demands of raising godly children in an environment conducive for learning.
He said such criticisms were products of ignorance as what students pay could not be compared with what obtained elsewhere that lacked facilities.
“The school fees has God’s approval and is in accordance with the quality of facilities provided by the university in meeting the educational needs of the nation,” he said.
He said the church in its pioneering role in pushing the frontiers of education with excellence had concluded plans to establish offshore universities.
The cleric said a fully automated Bible press by the church had been completed and would be launched soon.
Oyedepo, however, quoting from some verses of the Bible, which include Matthew 24:6-8, 1Peter 2:9, Joel 2:2 and Mal. 4:1, said the current economic meltdown was predicted but that committed Christians would be exempted.
He prayed for resources for parents to always meet the demands of the time and declared the theme of this year’s Shiloh holding between Dec. 6 and Dec. 10 as “My Case is Different”.
The bishop said this year’s annual event of Shiloh would not be advertised as past events as it would be church based.
Within a tragic 5 years of marriage, Ghanaian filmmaker and actress Kafui Danku and her Canadian husband survived 1 stillbirth and 3 miscarriages.
But gracefully, in a couple of days, they will be welcoming their new baby, reportedly a girl. According to Kafui, after she had the 3 miscarriages and 1 stillbirth, she didn’t give up because she believed the Lord has his plans, that when the time is right it will happen and all flesh shall see it. Quite the testimony.
Check out the beautiful maternity photos she just released:
A Nigerian lady “Pretty Billionaire” on Twitter has for days now been trending on social media after a photo of her serving FREE meal to some residents in Lagos, went viral.
According to her, someone asked her why she was giving free food in this recession period and her reply was “In heaven , nothing like recession“.
And of course, this has won her praises from online users.
Okay, I’d be honest, for you to understand the faults of the logos, you need to engage with that dirty, naughty parts of you, that is of course, if you have one, but if you don’t, then you probably wouldn’t get it.
The brand signs that these companies chose are eye-catching enough but all for the wrong reasons. The logo you see above is from the Catholic Church’s Archdiocesan Youth Commission and it’s supposed to represent a priest protecting a child but look closer and what else can you depict ?
That’s why they keep saying “Suru lere”… Patience is a virtue mehn! While this NYSC member was busy keeping people entertained on the ATM queue, he was being duped by someone he gave his debit card to to help him withdraw cause he couldn’t wait for the long queue.
I find it hilarious though… but some others are being pitiful… Follow the thread below:

A woman, Dasola Adeosun, has pleaded with Ile Tuntun Customary Court, Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Oyo State, to put an end to her union with her husband, Taiwo, whom she alleged on several occasions had attempted to use their only two-year-old child for money rituals and that he used to smell her pants and fingers her each time she travelled to check whether she had slept with another man.
According to Nigeria Tribune, Dasola said:
“My husband married me about three and a half years ago as a virgin and we gave birth to a child who is two-year-old, Emmanuel. We’ve separated for about one and a half years and he has not been responsible for our welfare. Whenever he beats me, he either takes me to the hospital for treatment by himself or calls a nurse to come and set a drip for me in the house. I’ve tried to endure his excesses but it seems my patience does not pay any longer.
“After delivering my baby, he insisted on taking the child to his family house where unfortunately, my things were set on fire when a stick of matches was lit and thrown into my room through a window. It was after that incident that he told me he was taking the child to Lagos for money rituals. He took this step twice but he returned to me with the baby that he was told the child was not useful.
“Each time I asked him to give me money to take care of our child, he would say: “the child is not useful for me,” and since then I’ve been doing what I could for the child. I can’t dispute the fact that his sisters brought golden morn and milk for the child every month since he started feeding on them but it’s not enough.
“He paid no dowry on me before we became husband and wife because I was the one who ran,” Dasola told the court.
The defendant, Taiwo, denied the allegations. He said that his wife is promiscuous and stubborn.
“I observed that each time I go to my shop, my wife calls other men. She even uses my phone sometimes to make calls. I’ve tried to stop her but she’s been adamant. “She’s stubborn, disobedient and wayward. Shortly after our marriage, we had a quarrel and she slapped me.”
The court, however, asked Taiwo if he ever beat his wife and what step his parents took. He replied ‘I never beat her once.’
Dasola, however, opened up to the court that although Taiwo’s father has been intervening in their affairs since they got married, he withdrew at the point of provocation from his son.
She said that Taiwo takes advantage of his father’s old age and opposes him each time he tries to make peace between them and that his mother is dead.
Not satisfied with his wife’s submissions, Taiwo said: “I’ve made a mistake getting married to you”
President of the court, Chief Agbaje Henry Olasunkanmi, after listening to the couple, told them to bring their family members and the child, Emmanuel to the court on November 11 for judgement.
A 36 year-old widow in Kenya last Thursday hacked her lover with a machete and left him dead in a pool of his own blood.
According to Kenyan news media, the suspect Martha Mukatisila Emoit, had confronted the man with accusations of infidelity. The couple had picked a quarrel at a pub in Eldoret town, road block area, at around 8pm.
During the heated quarrel, Martha attacked the man with a sharp machete, inflicting several deep cuts on the head before escaping.
“She was breathing heavily when she confronted her boyfriend at the pub. No one attempted to approach her since she was holding a sharp machete,” an eyewitness Mr Joseph Wambulwa said.
“Afterwards an argument erupted prompting her to slash him on the head before taking off.”
Furious residents quickly rushed to her home and set it ablaze following the incident.
The Eldoret fire brigade together with police arrived at the scene and subdued the fire. A manhunt was immediately launched that led to the arrest of the woman deep in the night.
The body of the deceased was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary. Confirming the incident, Eldoret West OCPD Tom Achiya said investigations are ongoing.
“This is a serious case and once investigations are completed we will charge her with murder,” said Mr Achiya.
The woman is currently being held at Baharini Police post in Eldoret West.
I’ve come across the image before though… but coming from the actress and her current status, it speaks volume. The stunning thespian took to her Instagram stories to share the image above and some cool photos from an art exhibition she attended.

Over the years, popular Nollywood actor, Benson Okonkwo’s sexuality has been in doubt. While some people would readily swear that the actor is gay, others have argued that he is bi-sexual. However, what has fuelled the rumours the more is the fact that the actor hardly addresses the issue.
However, in an interview with Saturday Beats, the actor who normally does not discuss his sexuality, opened up. He said that he was not gay even though he refused to talk about his private life.
He told Saturday Beats that he has developed a thick skin when it comes to controversies and that is why he hardly speaks on them.
“I don’t listen to what people say about me anymore. I am just living my life because it is too short. The more you listen to people, the higher your chances of having high blood pressure and death. You only live once and if you let people’s comment take you to an early grave; it is the same people that would come to your funeral. I have never given a damn about anybody’s opinion when it comes to the way I live my life. I am not gay and I have never acted in a porn movie because I am not a porn star,” he said.
The actor who currently released his latest flick, ‘Benson the Maniac,’ said that he is aware the movie would create another controversy because he is playing the role of a bi-sexual person. He told Saturday Beats that people should not judge him as only God holds that right exclusively.
Okonkwo said, “In ‘Benson the Maniac’ my character is a manic who later contracts HIV. The character sleeps with both male and female in the movie. It is a controversial movie. A lot of my colleagues like Cossy Orjiakor, Uche Elendu, Denrele Edun, Beverly Osu, and Shirley Igwe among others acted in the movie. People should not judge, it is only God that can judge me. All I did was do my job by acting in the movie.
“The controversy that would trail it would just make people view it and once they do that, Google pays me. If they don’t understand the message the movie is trying to pass across, no problem. I am no longer interested in what people think. I am doing my job as an actor. I am an actor, I don’t want to have high blood pressure and die before my time. Before, I used to check my comments section to see what people were saying about me but now, I have developed a thick skin for me to live long and enjoy my life. As long as it is not true; I love fashion and my career. My ability to interpret any role given to me is what makes me a good actor.”
The Nigerian military said on Saturday they had rescued another of the missing Chibok schoolgirls near the border with Cameroon.
“Nigerian army troops rescued another Chibok schoolgirl at Pulka” on Friday evening, army spokesman Sani Usman told AFP, adding he would give details of the rescue operation later.
The girls were kidnapped from their school in Chibok town, Borno, on April 14, 2014, by Boko Haram.
The terror group on October 13 released 21 of the more than 200 kidnapped schoolgirls after a deal was brokered by the International Committee of Red Cross and the Swiss government.
The Nigerian government thereafter confirmed it was negotiating with a faction of now fractured terror group for the release of about 83 of the girls.
“These 21 released girls are supposed to be talebearers to tell the Nigerian government that this faction of Boko Haram has 83 more Chibok girls,” presidential spokesman Garba Shehu, said then.
“The faction said it is ready to negotiate if the government is willing to sit down with them,” said Shehu, adding that the state is prepared to negotiate with the branch of Boko Haram.
Boko Haram apparently split when the Islamic State group appointed Abu Musab al-Barnawi as the head of Boko Haram early in August. But the erstwhile leader of the group, Abubakar Shekau, countered the appointment, insisting that he was still in charge.
It is unclear what the Federal Government did to secure the release of the 21 girls freed, but AFP quoting local sources said four Boko Haram commanders were freed.
“The four Boko Haram militants were brought to Banki from Maiduguri in a military helicopter from where they were driven to Kumshe in ICRC vehicles,” AFP reported.
But Shehu and Nigeria’s minister of information and culture Lai Mohammed insisted that the government did not release any Boko Haram prisoner.

Actress, Mercy Johnson has become a household name today but many may not know the screen diva faced rejection in the movie industry at some point in her career.
In a chat with Saturday Beats, she revealed that some movie producers did not give her slots in their production because of her dark complexion.
She said that when she started out in the Nigerian movie industry, most movie directors and producers always preferred to cast fair-skinned ladies at the expense of talented but dark-skinned ones.
“It is very true that when I was starting out in the movie industry, it was difficult to get roles because of my complexion. I faced that a lot and I tell people that my success is just grace. Somebody once told me that I am too dark but that is where the grace and favour of God comes in. Regardless of everything, most of the dark-skinned actresses that are my contemporaries made it,” she said.
The actress who has featured in scores of movies told Saturday Beats that it would be unfair of anyone to say she features in any movie without any consideration.
“It is not true that I pick just any movie role. People are different and what appeals to one person might not appeal to the other. One of my most popular movies is ‘Dumebi Goes to School’ and I know how many actresses rejected that script before I accepted to do it. That movie has been one of the highest selling movies in Nollywood till date. I think it is not fair for anyone to say I just jump on any movie production. As human beings, our strength is in our diversity and differences; this means that what you call trash might not be trash to someone else. I select my scripts and I work with all of my heart because acting is my passion. When I read a script and it appeals to me, I have fun while I do it,” the actress said.
For most people, when it comes to dating an ex’s brother or sister, the general rule is that it is one of the worst things you can do.
Sometimes, people find love in mysterious ways and in strange places. So what if you find love with your ex’s sibling? Would you go ahead and get married to him or her? Here’s what some celebrities think;
No, it would complicate things- Kelechi, Udegbe, Actor
No, I won’t. My reason is simple. Things will get complicated later especially if we still have feelings for each other.
The best bet is to put a good distance with my ex. We could still talk, but we’ll avoid close contact.
Yes, of course! – Bose Oladimeji, Actress
Of course, YES! If he would be better than his brother, why not? If he would give me the joy that I wanted from his brother, why won’t I marry him? There’s nothing new in this world and one man’s meat is another man’s poison. As long as there’s love, there will be no problem. Yes, if we’re happy together- Keira Hewatch, Actress
NO way! – Nkechi Emannuel, Actress
For me, I think it’s a No No, since the person is related to my ex by blood. Even if I’m in love with the person in question, I will ‘unlove’ him immediately. What is love? Love is ultimately a decision… So, in that case, I can also take a decision to ‘unlove’ him
It would breed bad blood between the sisters- Kennyblaq, Comedian
I can’t marry my ex’s sister because such marriage will be filled with a lot of trust issues. I don’t think any woman can tolerate her husband’s ex even if they are related. That means every family gathering will be a time bomb that could go off if I get too close to her sister. Moreover, I don’t think it’s fair to be the cause of that kind of bad blood between sisters.
Popular for bringing news blogging to a completely new frontier, Linda Ikeji has indeed come a long way. With 10 years experience in the business, she is definitely nobody’s fall gal.
The former model recently opened up to TS Weekend on her career, love life and what she wants from her man.
Why do you always write negative stories about celebrities that are not your friends?
Look, I have never written any negative story about anyone except ‘him’. I don’t want to mention any name, because I don’t want any distractions. More so, they are all my friends and I don’t have any bad belle towards anyone, I am only doing what I know how to do best.
Do you think the threat was too much from ‘him’ (Wizkid)?
I am never moved by any threat, and nobody can threaten me. I am not doing an illegal job, I publish what I heard or saw.
Don’t you think your mansion is too big for you especially now that you are single?
Hmmmmm, I am 36 and I have been struggling for 10 years. I believe I deserved it. Look, I don’t belittle myself. I believe that what is worth doing at all is worth doing well. I have the money to buy the mansion, so why won’t I do that even if I am not married yet. Don’t you think that anything can happen anytime? I am not praying for death now but someone needs to enjoy life for the fact that we still breathe. Buying half a billion naira mansion is my choice, and I am not regretting it.
Can you tell us about your plans for marriage and what you are looking for in a man?
Yes now, I am ready to settle down. Truly, when I was still struggling, I didn’t think of getting married. I was so ambitious and focused on my career. I was so passionate about my dreams. But now, I am getting there gradually. Recently, I sat down and thought of everything I am expecting in a man. My expectation was so high but now I have reduced it to just three.
What are the three things you are looking for in a man?
Haaa… why will I tell you that? Okay fine, my man must be rich because I can’t marry a poor guy. Secondly, I need a man that will fully support me, a man that will always drive me, a man that will motivate and push me higher. And thirdly, I want a man that is caring and sexy, most importantly, a man that is good on bed.
If you get married, are you moving into your husband’s house or he is moving into your mansion?
Of course yes, I will move down to my husband’s house and leave my parents there till when God says it’s time for them to come home. There is nothing wrong in that.

A Muslim police chaplain has been ordered to explain himself after he claimed that women “sin” if they do not consent to sex with their husbands.
Musleh Khan, who claims to be an expert on marriage counselling, believes that a wife must be completely obedient to their husband, according to a leaked presentation.
The new police chaplain reportedly said that unless a woman is ill, or is fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, they must consent to sex when their husband demands it.
He allegedly said:
“Without a valid reason then she committed a major sin. “So sisters it’s part of your act of worship towards Allah that you try to respond to this as best you can as part of your duties as the wife.”
Khan also reportedly advised women that they should seek permission from their husbands just to leave their home.
The perturbing comments came in a question and answer session at Ummah Nabawiah Mosque in Ontario, Canada, in 2015, where Khan explained that a girl is fit to be married whenever she hits puberty.
Speaking about Mohammed’s marriage to nine year-old Aisha in the Koran, he reportedly said:
“Nine year-olds back then are comparable to 20 to 30 year-olds now. “Back then at nine years old you were mature enough and you could get married.”
Daily Express UK reports that the president of the Toronto Police Association, Mike McCormack, received a torrent of emails about the chaplain’s views and said Mr Khan “needs to clarify his comments.”
After Chidinma Okeke, a 19-year-old student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka won Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant organised by the Anambra Broadcasting Service, in 2015, little did she or anyone else know that her reign as a beauty queen would record a sad end.
The 300-level student of Medical Laboratory who hails from Ogboji community in Orumba South council area of Anambra State had been enjoying the benefits of her position until 11th day of October, 2016 when she was unceremoniously stripped of her crown by the organisers of the pageantry.
The star prize, a car given to her was not only taken away from her and parked at the premises of the radio/TV house, but the Miss Anambra 2015 inscription on it was erased.
According to the management of the station led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nze Uche Nworah, Chidinma was stripped of her crown because “she had served out her tenure in line with the terms and conditions placed by the pageant organisers.”
The unceremonious event, televised on 11th October had some senior members of staff of the station in attendance. Shortly after she was stripped of the crown, the social media was awash with video clips where the beauty queen allegedly engaged in lesbianism with another girl.
At first, Chidinma was said to have denied being the one in the video until about a week later when a more explicit version of the video, which she later owned up, was released by those she described as her traducers.
Although the beauty queen switched off all channels of communication following the attacks she was receiving from the public court, her lawyer, Mr Ikenna Obidiegwu, on October 26, arranged for a World Press Conference to be addressed by the beauty queen to tell her own side of the story.
The media parley, which was scheduled to hold at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre, Awka, was called off abruptly when information filtered into the complex that some gunmen were coming to disrupt it.
Miss Okeke, was said to have sworn to expose “the powerful cabal” behind her ordeal in the sordid video, but her lawyer later said that she could no longer address journalists because “her life had been threatened.”
Obidiegwu alleged that the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Sam Okaula, had denied his client police protection for the press briefing on the grounds that the police got a short notice.
“The Commissioner of Police said the notice was too short, and that he could not mobilise police security for the queen immediately” he said.
According to a post she made on her Facebook wall, Chidinma said she had been warned not to step into the venue or risk assassination.
It read:
“Considering the need to make the world know the truth about the trending scandal, and what we have been going through before then and now, I decided to hold World Press Conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Awka today. But from the moment I made public this intention; I have been under siege of threats by my blackmailers and traducers.”
“They are seriously threatening to shoot me at the press conference if I ever open my mouth to say the real truth about the ugly episode. Since I have no protection and if I die now the truth would be buried forever, it’s my objective to sacrifice myself to save not just myself but other girls and other upcoming pageants by letting the world know the truth and what we go through” the post added.
Her family breaks silence.
For more than two weeks of the ugly development, all the concerned public could get was a chilling silence from her family.
But Saturday Sun took a bumpy ride to Chidinma’s hometown of Ogboji. Read their report below:
On arrival, our reporter met the family residence under lock. The thick bush growing inside the compound easily discloses to any visitor that the family must be residing somewhere else in the city. But members of their extended family living in the next compound gave their words on the raging controversy.
Speaking to our reporter on the telephone, Chidinma’s father, Sir Jeremiah Okeke who is living in Aba, Abia State with his family, lamented that the family had been going through emotional and psychological trauma since it all started.
With a voice laden with heavy emotions, the 65-year-old man told our reporter that the family had handed over the situation to God.
“Chidinma is my own daughter” he said, “but there is nothing much I can say about this because there is a lifestyle adopted by my family. We don’t foment troubles.
“I, as the father, have committed everything to God in prayers. Human being cannot fight our cause but only God in heaven. We are in serious prayers for God to intervene. I don’t have anybody on earth except God.”
Asked if his daughter has before the incident complained to him that she was being sexually harrassed, he said he was confused about the whole matter, even as he raised the alarm over the whereabouts of his daughter.
“I am confused about the whole thing as of now. It is only when I set my eyes on my daughter that I will know about all these. As it stands now, I don’t know where my daughter is.”
He said he was not suspecting anybody of having a hand in his daughter’s ordeal as speculated in the social media.
Going back memory lane, Okeke recalled that God’s mighty hand on him was evidenced on his miraculous survival from his childhood tragedies.
“There are many ways God is fighting my battle. I was only five years when my father died. I don’t know whether I got up to six years before my mother died too. I don’t have anybody but it is only God that sustained me all through. It was same God that assisted me to raise and train all my children. All the family members are praying.
“As it stands now, my daughter is still a small girl. I don’t know whether she is still alive or dead. But all I know is that God will prove Himself worthy to fight His children’s battle. I don’t have much to say for now.
“So many people have told me to take certain actions but me and my God are still communicating through prayers. There are several ways God reveals some things to me. I am not suspecting anybody but only God knows who is behind that; whether he is human or spirit. I’m leaving whoever that is behind it to his conscience. The life of my daughter is most important to me now. Wherever she is, let her be alive for me.”
The depressed Okeke, who obviously needs assistance to enable him bounce back to his years of comfort told Saturday Sun that his business which hitherto was flourishing was hit by the economic tsunami sweeping through the country.
“I am a businessman but because of this harsh economic condition, my business is no longer moving as expected. You understand? I am just doing little things to feed.
“I was a distributor for Peak Milk here in Aba, Abia State but for some time now, I have stopped because I don’t have strength for fomenting troubles. We borrow money from the banks to embark on the Peak Milk distribution business but when it became too competitive, in addition to the losses incurred in the course of doing the business, I stopped.”
Chidinma’s cousin, Blessing Chinenye Nwafor, who our reporter met in their village in Ogboji, told Saturday Sun regrettably that the sex video had gone round their village.
“There was a day I was going out on a mission, some persons stopped me and told me about the sex video but I didn’t believe it. One of them said he saw the picture but not the video. I left them in anger. After walking some distance, another guy called my attention and showed me the video. The people in that area started mocking me; saying all sorts of foul things. I started crying and walked away from their midst.
“But later on, I learnt that what that boy did in the village was to share it with the villagers. I am personally annoyed about his attitude and I have resolved to call him later and caution him. They have an only daughter in their family. Suppose it were to be her, would he be going about and be showing it to everybody in the village? I have not seen him but once I see him, we would have some axe to grind.”
Though the video had gone viral, Blessing told Saturday Sun that she was yet to believe it.
“When I heard about this sex video for the first time, even though I didn’t believe it, I was not happy at all. I told my mother about it when I returned home and she was very sad all through. She could not sleep that night.”
She described Chidinma as “a good girl” pointing out that “personally, I don’t believe that she did that stuff. I am of the view that she was drugged and forced to do that thing. It is also possible that her enemies are behind that.”
For Mrs Hope Nwaka, Sir Okeke’s niece, her spirit tells her that Chidinma was innocent of the allegations.
“My spirit tells me that Chidinma did not do that thing she was being accused of; I know her very well. I see it as something planned to smear her name and that of our entire family. It is also paining my daughter, Chinenye but I told her to relax that it was not true.
“We are living in the last days. The love among brethren would grow cold. Nobody would want another person’s success. But I have not believed that stuff was true. It was forged. She could not have done that. Even if she did, know it that she was forced to do it.”
Asked on the implications it could have on the yet to be married sisters of Chidinma, Mrs Nwaka said that it would not in any way stop them from getting suitors.
“For now, it is only one of her sisters that has gotten married but it will never stop others from getting married too. God is with our family and He will continue to bless us with everything we need including ensuring that her remaining sisters get married at the appropriate time.”
UNIZIK reacts
Meanwhile, the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka said it was yet to decide whether to expel the beauty queen as the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku was yet to be briefed.
In a telephone chat with its Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu, he said:
“The Nnamdi Azikiwe University has not taken any position yet on the matter. For now, we regard everything we have been hearing as speculation. We will find out from the head of her department and the Dean of her faculty what is happening. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, will be briefed and then the University will know the next line of action.
“This thing is procedural because the Head of the Department would be told to find out what is happening because for now, the whole thing is speculation to us and he will report to the Dean. You know the reporting system in the university. And then the Dean will brief the Vice-Chancellor.
“And you know at Nnewi, we have a Provost in charge of College of Health Sciences who is like the boss of all the medical departments and faculty in Nnewi. So the Vice-Chancellor has not been briefed. Whatever that is happening is still within the realm of speculation”
Pageant organisers disown beauty queen
As the controversy raged, officials of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, organizers of the pageant, through a statement signed by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nze Uche Nworah, denied their complicity in the circulation of the video.
The statement read:
“The attention of the management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, organizers of the Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant has been drawn to a video with lurid contents purportedly showing former Miss Anambra, Miss Chidinma Okeke (Miss Anambra 2015).
“We wish to make the following clarifications:
The said Miss Chidinma Okeke who is allegedly linked to the lurid content in circulation has served-out her term as Miss Anambra 2015 and handed over the crown in line with the terms and conditions of the Miss Anambra pageant.
“We condemn in clear terms any amoral behaviour/ conduct as suggested by the alleged lurid content in circulation and do not condone such. It is on record that the Miss Anambra Beauty pageant has been a platform to empower Anambra women and celebrate our rich culture and heritage. Winners of the pageant are bound by contracts to be of good conduct and moral behaviour and to uphold/maintain the honour in their position as queen.
“Winners of the pageant also contract to refrain from any personal relationship that could appear to hinder their ability to perform the duties of their office as queen and role model and we do not expect any less. We therefore wish to dissociate the Miss Anambra pageant from any discussions on the said allegations.
“We feel sufficiently perturbed by the mere reference already made to the pageant and hereby state that we are in no way connected to the controversy.
“We apologize to the government and good people of Anambra State, our sponsors, supporters, friends and all those associated with the Miss Anambra project for the embarrassment the mere reference to the pageant in the controversy may have caused; whilst reassuring of the good intentions of the Miss Anambra pageant franchise.”
Chidinma seeks asylum
Following the cold silence from the accused, speculations were rife that she had travelled out of the country to seek asylum.
Her family in a chat with Saturday Sun raised the alarm over the whereabouts of their daughter. But her close friend who pleaded anonymity in a telephone chat with our reporter claimed that although she had not heard from her since the controversy started, she believed that she had travelled out of the country.
This was even as her lawyer, Ikenna Obidiegwu, said his client has not sought for asylum outside the country.
He said:
“I have said it severally that my client, Chidinma is in Nigeria. She is in Awka. We shall address a press conference this week to say everything about this issue.”
Meanwhile, the state police command had said it has no knowledge of the sex scandal.
Aniebue Peter Nnamma, 50; Sokpe Zubbye, alias Nzube Chukwudi), 37; Ugwuezumba Hyacinth Arinze, 38; and Obinna James Obi, 30 were arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
Drug trafficking is punishable by death in the three countries. Nnamma, who sells clothes at Aswani Market in Lagos, inserted 11 wraps of cocaine, weighing 460gm, into his anus.
Zubbye, a freight forwarder from Anambra State, with a Ghanaian passport, ingested 955gm of cocaine. Both Nnamma and Zubbye were on their way to China. Obi, an aluminium fabricator in Umuahia, Abia State, who was flying to Doha, Qatar, was caught with 5.2kg of cannabis.
Arinze, who sells musical instruments at Alaba International Market, Lagos, was caught with ingested wraps of methamphetamine, weighing 570gm and 1.560kg of the drug packed in his luggage while on his way to Indonesia.
I really need your matured advise. I caught my friend’s girlfriend cheating (having sex actually) with another guy and she knew I saw her of course.. She’s been begging me not to talk.
If I keep quiet now and My guy later finds out I knew about it I will become a bad friend.
If I talk it could be the end of a 4 years old relationship!!!
I’m even scared the girl may set me up if I decide to talk.
Ghanaian tweeter, abstaina_ who shared the screenshots of the chats you’re about to read, the man in the photo is allegedly a money ritualist, or ‘Sakawa’ as they are popularly called in Ghana.
These Sakawas kill and use human parts for their money making rituals. He is a big boy who who flaunts the big life on Facebook. He allegedly approached someone who had shown interest in joining his ‘club’, but before the guy can join, he has to do ‘something‘ for this alleged ritualist.
