Michelle Obama Melts Hearts With Final Vogue Cover As First Lady

michelle-vogue

To call Michelle Obama’s first lady farewell tour a roller coaster of emotions would be an understatement. There were the love letters in T Magazine, the relentless, passionate campaigning for Hillary Clinton and the rose gold chainmail Versace gown seen ‘round the world, to name a few.

Now, during a week when we could all use a bit of a pick-me-up, FLOTUS is back to kick us right in the feels all over again.

Looking ethereal in a white Carolina Herrera gown, she is, as usual, the epitome of elegance and grace. Aptly calling her America’s “Mother-in-Chief,” the story followed Obama in the months leading up to Election Day.

Of course now, the story, cover and Obama’s words, which went to print before the election, hold a completely new meaning post-election.

Consider the way she describes her role as first lady ― a position that Vogue calls “surprisingly malleable, shaped by the personality, style and interests (or lack thereof) of the person occupying it.

“I could have spent eight years doing anything, and at some level, it would have been fine,” Obama said. “I could have focused on flowers. I could have focused on decor. I could have focused on entertainment. Because any first lady, rightfully, gets to define her role. There’s no legislative authority; you’re not elected. And that’s a wonderful gift of freedom.”

It is what she did do ― advocate for education, promote healthy lifestyles and become a darling of the fashion industry ― that in part will make saying goodbye so hard to do. We don’t know for sure what kind of first lady her successor will be.

All we know is what Michelle has meant to so many people over the past eight years, perfectly summed up to Vogue by President Obama himself.

“Who you see is who she is,” the president said. “The brilliant, funny, generous woman who, for whatever reason, agreed to marry me. I think people gravitate to her because they see themselves in her—a dedicated mom, a good friend, and someone who’s not afraid to poke a little fun at herself from time to time.”

We know it’s better to smile because it happened than cry because it’s over, but we’re going to need a few days to recover from this one.

Below is what he wrote:

“It’s so sad that a lot of people never give me the benefit of the doubt. Only a handful think it is right to respect my freedom of choice. I have been unlucky in life, most of what I do normally have opposite impression irrespective of my positive mindset.

I cannot help it and will rather prefer to continue to be real as possible, I am used to being misinterpreted my entire adult life. I never aim to hurt anybody in words or actions before them or behind them. I am never raised that way. They forget that some people no matter how horrible the situation, still has some dignity left in them.

I have also been raised to know that no matter how small the interactions I have with anybody, I should not let my manners slip. It cost nothing but could win a whole lot of goodwill. Moreso, I have been vigorously warned by my parents never to prove to know if what am ready to give out is a guess.

Hopefully Fran accepts my proposition to end this marriage now as I cannot continue this way, AM NOT HAPPY anymore as we edge close to the 4th year anniversary. Fran is such a beautiful woman, supportive and wish I come live in England, take up employmemt and study. I HAVE USED HER DOCUMENTS TO RENEW MY NORMAL VISA ONLY, so no question she is not willing, I NEVER said that.

With all humility, if she never promised me she is coming to take up employment in Nigeria and live with me, maybe we may not have secured the dating. I have made it abundantly clear I am not prepared to live abroad as my career was just gathering shape then. I decor wedding hall Nigeria colour on purpose.

The outlook of my choice may look familiar to those marriages but I never thought people will think of me that way. I have to live with that but sometimes it can be so bruising.

I am focused on my career and keeping my fans and admirers entertained. I have an absolute right to do whatever makes me happy provided it is nothing criminal, illegal, immoral or anti-social. I am NOT interested with the reason two adult came together. It’s crude and an uncivilized thing to do for me. I HOPE I FIND TRUE LOVE AGAIN WHILE I PUSH FOR A HIT-FREE DIVORCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I will be fine guys. Thank you – Yomi Fabiyi

Watch How A Mother Kicked Her 8 Year Old Son Out For Voting Donald Trump At School.

donald-trump-kid

Watching the video, you can tell that the poor kid didn’t know what he was doing… It felt it right to vote for the new President-elect because he saw his face a lot on TV.

He got back home to meet his suitcase waiting for him after he told his mum he voted for Donald Trump at school – his mom gave him a placard which reads “my mom kicked me out because I voted for Donald Trump” and sent the tearful lad out of the house.

I can psychologically tell that she isn’t really gonna kick him out of the house but she’s probably doing it to show the kid how much she despises Donald Trump, but did she take too far?

Armed Robbers Write Ogun State Residents, Warn Them To Keep Christmas Money, Gifts At Home.

letter

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP, Ahmed Iliyasu, has called on residents of Anglican Road, Ilupewo community in Ado-Odo-Otta Local Government Area of the state to remain calm after they reportedly received a letter from suspected armed robbers of an impending visit.

The robbers posted the letters on gates and doors informing residents of the boundary community between Lagos and Ogun States, to keep Christmas gifts for them as they would be visiting anytime soon.

Following the development, the residents have been living in fear, while some have deserted their homes. According to reports, the residents, Wednesday, woke up to discover several of such letters posted to their doorposts, telling them that the robbers were coming for the operation because of the coming Christmas and New Year festivities.

The letter which had the following incomplete phone numbers – 0702288949, 080449930 – stressed that they (robbers) didn’t want excuses from residents over non-availability of money at home.

The said letter reportedly typed in Yoruba language, introduced the robbers as ‘Strong men of the road that own the night,’ urging the recipients to ensure they keep money at home always, even as they vowed to deal mercilessly with any resident who claims he does not have money as advanced notice has been given to prepare them.

But the CP, in a statement on Thursday, assured the residents that the police was working effortlessly to stop the planned robbery. He stated that about 60 houses on Anglican Road had the letters posted on their doorposts and that the residents reported the matter at the Sango Police Station.

He, however, called on the residents to remain calm as the security operatives were up to task in dealing with the criminals. “We are on top of the situation and security has been beefed up in the community,” the CP stated.

Meet the Gorgeous 27 year old HIV-positive Lady Giving Hope to Many (Photos)

girl-hiv-0

A 27-year-old woman has become instant internet celebrity after openly sharing her HIV status on social media and shining as a light to many like her.

The pretty woman identified as Lebogang Brenda Motsumi from South Africa went public about living with the HIV virus about three years ago in her country, but has recently started gaining popularity across the continent, where people living with the condition largely still face stigma.

Lebo, as she is popularly referred to, makes it clear that even though she is living with the life-threatening virus, she choses not to be a victim, but rather has a positive outlook on life as the commander of her own life.

She melted many hers on Saturday July 9, 2016 after sharing an inspirational story of her survival. The HIV activist encourages those infected to regain control of their lives, often using her own story to help educate her audiences.

In past media interviews, she shared that she found out about her HIV status in 2009 aged 20, after an ex-boyfriend who was famous revealed that he was HIV-positive in a media interview.

“I found out in 2009 on the 15th of August. I dated a guy who is well known. I only found out after reading an article he did speaking out on his status and saying he is sick. After reading the articles I did have a feeling I could be HIV positive but I was in denial. I ignored it and never tested because the media always show poor people with HIV and I didn’t think it could happen to me,” Lebogang told South Africa’s Youth Village in a 2013 interview.

She told South Africa’s DRUM magazine that the late Kwaito singer and producer Tebogo ‘Zombo’ Ndlovu infected her with the virus.

“I didn’t love him. He was famous and I wanted the fame, but all he gave me was HIV. As a fun-loving but naive 17-year-old, I imagined the headlines: “Zombo’s girlfriend pregnant,” with a glossy shot of us as a happy couple,” Lebo said, according to DRUM.

Zombo, born in 1979, passed on in February 2008, a month after revealing in the media that he was HIV-positive.

Lebo said that it took her almost two years to accept her status:

“I got diagnosed with HIV in 2009 and I only accepted my status in November 2011. I was pregnant and I had to take ARVs since I had to protect my daughter. In early 2011 I went to some church and they prayed for me and I thought I’m fine and I went back to living my life drinking and partying. Since I was not looking sick I thought there was nothing wrong so I went back to living my life until I got very sick in August, and I came to the decision that HIV is real and it’s for me to move on for my family and daughter. It’s for me to accept it and live positively. I then joined a youth support group and I noticed that I wasn’t the only one living with HIV there were also some young people living with it,” said the mother of one baby Meekah, who is HIV-negative.

girl-hiv-01

Today, she not only runs her own support organisation, but also sits in several AIDS awareness boards and speaks to youth in various events about living positively and also staying negative.

HIV/AIDS child activist the late Nkosi Johnson is one of her role models, who she said of:

“I am finishing off from where he left off, he was fighting for people to access ARVs, I am fighting for people to not get infected.”

“Good morning, my name is Lebogang Brenda Motsumi aka African Queen. I am NOT HIV, I am LIVING with HIV. I am not the virus, the virus lives in me. I am not defined by HIV, but I define HIV.”

“Selfie at the pharmacy while I wait for my stash (ARV’S). This is not any easy journey, having to commit to medication every day for the rest of your life is rather hard. #‎greaterthanHIV”

“Let’s stop putting a face to the HIV virus. No one is immune to HIV. The H in HIV stands for Human. Simply meaning anyone can get infected. Let’s get tested so we can protect ourselves and partners. I challenge 10 people who have never tested to so today. This is about you and no one else. I am living with HIV and it does not define me.”

Even though she believes science will one day find a cure to HIV, she believes in another cure, as the world awaits on the scientists:

girl-hiv-02

“I always tell people that there already is a cure. For me a person’s cure is their mind. Once you take your medication and live your life positively then you will be fine and you have already cured yourself.”

Her greatest piece of advice to the youth is the very same one that most have likely heard over and over again: abstaining or use of protection:

“If you can’t wait to get married to have sex , please use a condom and don’t base your decision on someone’s physical attributes or financial status. If you are a girl it’s ok to buy and have condoms. If you like partying and going out always carry condoms with you. Both guys and women can be unfaithful and you can never really know what your partner gets up to in your absence so be safe! If you can’t stand condoms then abstain!”

“How I used my hand to destroy my marriage” – Woman tells touching story for others to learn

I am writing to you in order to make someone understand that its good to appreciate our partners despite their flaws.

I am 32 years old. Me and my ex-hubby dated for six years, I started dating him whilst I was in grade 12, I was 19 years old. We were best of friends, I waited until he completed college and started work, my family and his family then met, we got married and had a son. (7 years old now).

My husband was short tempered at times, but our problems started when I wanted to make him feel he can’t control me. Every time we argue, I would pack my bags, go to my family and explain. My sisters would phone my husband and shout at him. If he is controlling me I would always dare him that if you wish to divorce me- I never wanted to divorce, I just had pride and I never wanted to look a lose in his eyes.

One day I pushed him so had that for the first time he beat me and lock me out side, I went to my family, my family took him to police, every time I looked like I am being abused! But to be honest, I used to abuse my husband emotionally.

He was arrested and detained. I was asked by his family to withdraw the case, I felt that what I was doing is wrong.

My husband was never a violent man, he did what he did because I pushed him to the wall. Of which he openly knelt down and apologised. I withdrew the charge, and we reconciled.

After three months, I packed my bags after a small issue, and he remained alone. After two days I received a call that he is in the hospital, my family told me that I shouldn’t go there because it will look like am begging him, and my sisters believed he is faking the illness.

All this time, people felt sorry for me like I was the one being abused. He spent a week in the hospital after he came out, I just received a divorce summon. I wanted to say no to divorce, but because I felt this pride, I wanted him to change his mind and beg me, I called him and say he will get the divorce because I live like am in hell.

When we went to court, I wanted to make him pay, so I told the court that I needed his properties to be shared. To my surprise he openly told the court that whatever he and me acquired together should be given to me, all he wanted was divorce.

We got divorced in 2009 July. Now, this Saturday my husband is getting married again, whilst I am here wasted! My family are gossiping about me, I depend on what my ex gives to my son for survival.

I know I wasted my marriage. I am here telling all wives to be careful how you get advise. Don’t be cheated. Even my young sisters are much more respected than me. Those who encouraged me to divorce are always bad mouthing me.

I thought its good to share. There is no benefit in pride.

Ex-Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke finally opens up on Lesbian sex scandal

chid

Since the story of the sex video involving former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, broke a few weeks ago, several groups and individuals have come forward with different versions of what transpired between the embattled 20-year-old beauty queen and the organisers of the pageant.

The former beauty queen was seen in a shocking x-rated video with a lesbian partner. Surprisingly, the video was released on October 11, 2016, a few days before the expiration of her tenure originally billed for October 28, 2016.

Every day across the state since the video hit the streets, different versions of what led to the scandal are churned out by the actors, leaving the people confused and unsure of what to believe.

Since the scandal broke, Miss Chidinma Okeke, who won the Miss Anambra beauty pageant, organised by the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), has remained incommunicado, choosing to go into hiding over alleged threats to her life. She has also remained silent, leaving her lawyer to do most of the talking.

While the father, Sir Jeremiah Okeke, had claimed in recent reports that his daughter had been handed over to a relation for safety, some others claimed that the ex-beauty queen had relocated abroad.

But after weeks of keeping quiet, Miss Okeke has finally broken her silence. In an exclusive interview with The Nation, she debunked claims that she threatened to commit suicide, adding that there was never a time such thought came to her mind.

She also said her life might no longer be in danger, adding that her traducers were no longer threatening her life, and maintaining that those who were after her life had stopped contacting her.

She also said the faces behind her agonizing period in Anambra would be revealed soon, adding that with God, all things are possible.

Narrating her own side of the story, she said:

“Early last year, the ABS advertised for the Miss Anambra beauty pageant. I heard of it and went to make enquiry.

“My roommate was also interested, but one of the organisers told me to apply. I told them I was not interested but the man insisted that I might win the competition. He also promised to give me the form for free if I indicated interest, and he did when I agreed to contest.

“But one Jane told me that before a winner would be declared, there were certain things to be done, including the (sex) video. I consented after some persuasion from the organisers. I later went for the contest at the Marble Arch Hotels in Awka, and I was declared winner with a Kia Rio vehicle as star prize.

“When I went for my car after the contest, the organisers brought out a contract form for me to sign, but I told them I wanted to contact my lawyer to see it. I was not given the opportunity to do so.

“What they kept telling me was that if I insisted on not signing the contract or wanted to contact my lawyer, they would release the video.

“At that point, I became uncomfortable and signed the contract to avoid such embarrassment, and the car was released to me from where it was packed within the premises of ABS.

“From that moment, I became a slave to them. On October 11, 2016, they called me to come and make presentations inside the office of one the organisers. After that, the man excused some people in that room and showed me the video again.

“They told me to drop my car and removed my crown from me. I told them I would take the car as stipulated in the contract. They insisted I should pack it in the premises of (ABS).

“I told my uncle in Abuja about the situation. My uncle called them and asked them to release my car to me. Instead, they forwarded the video to him as part of the blackmail. That was what happened,” Chidinma said, crying.

She also said the scandal had weighed her down. Amidst sobs, she denied being a lesbian, saying she had never been involved in the act.

For her parents, Sir Jeremiah and his wife, Lady Nora Okeke, the incident remains a shock. According to Sir Okeke, the management and organisers of the pageant capitalised on his daughter’s “age and naivety to deny her whatever monetary gains she made while serving as Miss Anambra.”

He added:

“How can a beauty queen borrow money to pay her driver, even when she is supposed to be receiving a monthly salary?

“I cannot say all that I heard or saw. Why was she not paid her winning prize of one million naira fully? Rather, they paid her on installmental basis. And up until today, the money has not been completely paid.

“They have rubbished her and rubbed the family’s name in the mud. But we have united as a family, praying seriously for my daughter and for the people behind this wicked act to be exposed.

“My family at first agreed not to tell me about the whole thing, because I am hypertensive. But they decided otherwise when things got out of hand. I told them this issue will not kill me because I have had worse experiences while in business years back.

“My God, as always, will answer me and expose the truth in no distant time. I won’t say much because the damage has already been done.

“Chidinma is a small girl who does not know anything, hence, she fell into a trap that was too heavy for her to shoulder. But I thank God she is recovering.”

All through the interview, Chidinma’s mother, who was advised by the husband to remain silent, continued to hiss, and motioning her hands towards the heavens in supplication to God.

Two of the chiefs in Ogboji community in Orumba South Local Government Area, where Chidinma hails from, Chief Obi Okoli (Idejimba) and Chief Julius Nwankwo (Nwabulu-Omee), told The Nation that the incident had left them in shock.

Okoli, who described Chidinma as a nice and well-trained girl from a Christian home, saw the entire thing as a set up, but argued that such issues would only happen if somebody presents oneself.

According to him, “she is a well brought up girl from a good family background and Christian home. There could be more to this than meets the eyes.”

Asked if the community was not going to say anything on the sex scandal involving their daughter, Okoli laughed and said: “There are ways of handling such issues, and I don’t think the community will be involved.”

Also speaking, Chief Julius Nwankwo, described the situation as a pity, adding that today’s children behave as they like.

However, he said that the people of Ogboji community were seeing it as blackmail, adding that none of them was happy with what happened to their daughter.

He said:

“As an Ogboji man, I am pained that such a thing happened to one of our own, and that is why we want the authorities concerned to look into the saga appropriately, with a view to arresting those involved.

“When our daughter won the award, we were happy. For anybody or group of persons to rubbish her and our community is what we will not condone.”

Nwankwo said they heard some people had been apprehended over the sex scandal, adding that the authorities should look well in making sure that wrong people were not punished.

The Managing Director of ABS, the organisers, Uche Nworah did not comment on the queen’s allegations when we contacted him. He instead referred us to the organisation’s earlier statement.

In the earlier statement, the organisers had dissociated themselves from the scandal. Part of the statement read: “The attention of the management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, organisers of the Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant, has been drawn to a video with lurid contents purportedly showing former Miss Anambra, Miss Chidinma Okeke (Miss Anambra 2015).

“The said Miss Chidinma Okeke, who is allegedly linked to the lurid content in circulation, has served out her term as Miss Anambra 2015 and handed over the crown in line with the terms and conditions of The Miss Anambra pageant.

“We condemn in clear terms any amoral behaviour/conduct as suggested by the alleged lurid content in circulation and do not condone such.

“It is on record that The Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant has been a platform to empower Anambra women and celebrate our rich culture and heritage. Winners of the pageant are bound to contracts to be of good conduct and moral behaviour and to uphold/maintain the honour in their position as queen.

“Winners of the pageant also contract to refrain from any personal relationship that could appear to hinder their ability to perform the duties of their office as queen and role model, and we do not expect any less.

“We, therefore, wish to dissociate The Miss Anambra pageant from any discussions on the said allegations.

“We feel sufficiently perturbed by the mere reference already made to the pageant and hereby state that we are in no way connected to the controversy.

“We apologise to the government and good people of Anambra State, our sponsors, supporters, friends and all those associated with the Miss Anambra project for the embarrassment the mere reference to the pageant in the controversy may have caused whilst reassuring of the good intentions of the Miss Anambra pageant franchise.”

15 Reasons Why Nigerian Men Love Patronizing Prostitutes

Prostitutes work in the Copacabana neighborhood of Rio de Ja

1. Men Prefer To Sleep With Hotter Women
Yes, you read right. Most married Nigerian men complained that the moment a Nigerian woman is married, she losses her guard and most times cannot even ‘try’ to be as radiant as she used to be before she got married.

“I have been with women and i must say that the hottest women I’ve ever had sex with is a sex workers …Most of these harlots look sexy, ravishing and enticing. This kind of ‘hotness’ I am saying can only be prostitutes. My woman is too used to me to starting feigning ‘hot’!, a top Lagos civil servant reveals.

Most Nigerian men prefer a stunning woman to the one that is not properly dressed.

2. When They Pay For It, They Derive More Pleasure.

Every man wants to get every drop of satisfaction from the money he paid for a job. Most men reveal that they feel more comfortable asking for different styles and sexual postures from a prostitutes without their ego being tampered with.

I am paying for it, so I make sure I get the best out of it. And more so, I can ask her to do any style for me without me being looked at as a pervert. Asking her to do what I want won’t make me lose my respect and lots of other things which i can make known here’‘, 42-year-old Emeka revealed.

Most of them said there’s something very hot in being able to ask for what you want in bed and get it, no questions asked.

(Although one guy did admit he paid a prostitute once so that SHE could be in charge.) But generally, they all admitted to being more open about what they wanted and more physically satisfied when they paid for sex. Emotionally, of course, remains to be seen.

How Church Drummer, Worker, Invited Robbers to Steal Church’s N1.5 Million

methodist-660x350

A drummer and a worker of a Methodist Church Cathedral in Ibadan were involved in a plan to rob the church’s N1.5m, the Oyo State Police Command has claimed.

Public Relations Officer of the command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the worker, Ogundijo Abiola, 43, and the church drummer, Alabi Olukunle, 25, invited a gang of armed robbers to invade the church and cart away the money with the plan to share the loot with the robbers.

The police arrested both men during Sunday service, Punch is reporting.

“The anti-robbery squad of the command foiled an armed robbery attack on the church in Ibadan on November 6, 2016 and arrested two members of the church for their involvement in the crime Ajisebutu said.

“The robbery was at its final planning stage when they were arrested. The planned robbery was conceived by the two suspects, who invited the gang to rob the church of the large sum of money” Abiola told journalists he invited the robbers on Saturday and told them that there was enough money to steal in the church coffers.

He also told them that the money would be shared equally. On his part, Olukunle said Abiola contacted him and told him that he needed people who could handle the church priest.“

He (Abiola) said he wanted to beat the priest and then rob the church of N1.5m. I know a thug so I contacted him and he agreed to do it. But Abiola called me again to halt the operation and I did. But on Sunday, police came to the church and arrested us. I am only a drummer in the church,” he said.

He and the 10ft serpent now spend every day together watching TV, sharing romantic picnics by the lake, playing board games and going to the gym as a couple.

The unidentified husband is understood to have taken the Buddhist theory that people are reincarnated as animals. He lost his girlfriend five years ago, but photos have shown he and his new wife are very happy together.

How I became a millionaire through kidnapping – Nigerian Man

kidnappers

Joshua Okoh, a suspected kidnapper has narrated how he became a millionaire while engaging in kidnappings.
Okoh made the confession when he was paraded by Police in Asaba, Delta State.

The suspect said he was planning to open a private business when he was caught by the police.

He said,

“Kidnapping is like a business to me. Lack of job and bad economy forced me into crime. I chose kidnapping because that is what I can do best. Now I am in trouble; but since I started this business, I’ve never killed anybody.

“What me and other gang members did was to just collect the ransom and let the person (victim) go. We did pity them, but we did not have any other option.”

“I have carried out about five successful kidnappings and my share ran into millions of naira. I bought cars with the money and proposed to establish a business before this arrest.

“It is not as if we liked the job, but we were forced into crime by rich leaders and brothers who do not help, but would rather exhibit wealth in your presence.”

“It will interest you to know that most people who are victims of kidnapping are set up by their own brothers and sisters who they refused to help, just like this one that led to our arrest. It was initiated by a brother of the woman she may have refused to assist.”

Okoh was arrested alongside Anthony Oren, (alleged to be the vigilante boss of Orhakpo community in Ughelli North Local Government); ThankGod Okeperhie and Clement Efanyobera.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim said the suspects confessed to the crime.

He said they were arrested in connection with the abduction of a housewife, Mrs. Judith Osayande, in Warri.

Ibrahim said N1.8m of the N3m ransom has been recovered with the victim’s Toyota Camry with number plate BEN 825JA, two guns, 13 live cartridges, and one Honda Accord belonging to the suspect.

Tragedy was averted, yesterday, when a fully-loaded plane of Air Peace had to abort landing at Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, when the pilot discovered that the runway had been invaded by cows.

A fully-loaded Air Peace aircraft hovered over the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri for some time after cows invaded the the runway.

According to Vanguard, a passenger aboard the flight, Richard Akinola, said the pilot could not land until the runway was cleared by airport security.

The panic-stricken passengers, who initially thought the pilot deliberately aborted landing, applauded him on being told that a major disaster had been averted as the landing runway had been taken over by cattle.

When Vanguard contacted Henrrietta Yakubu, the acting General Manager, Public Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN for details on the incident, she said she had not been briefed and promised to get back to them.

Nnamdi Kanu Writes Donald Trump From Prison, Urges Him To “Liberate” Biafra.

Nnamdi Kanu

Imprisoned leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, has written the United States of America’s President-elect, Mr. Donald Trump, over his victory, urging him to assist in ‘liberating enslaved nations in Africa,’ Biafra included.

Mr. Kanu, in a letter he personally signed, entitled Nnamdi Kanu writes from Prison to congratulate Trump, made available to Vanguard through IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Mr. Emma Powerful, said:

“Trump’s victory was well deserved and shows that hard work and determination against all odds pay.

“Dear Mr. President-elect, it is with great joy that I, Nnamdi Kanu, received the news of your victory as the 45th President of the United States of America. On behalf of the Indigenous People of Biafra, accept my warmest congratulations.

“Mr. President-elect, the American people have given you their mandate and trust, not only to make America great again, but also to bring positive changes in the affairs of humanity.

“Your victory has placed a historic and moral burden upon you to liberate enslaved nations in Africa, trapped in artificially-created boundaries designed to reinforce colonial domination and subjugation.

“Self-determination is a sacred right of all people as demonstrated by the good people of United Kingdom, when they opted out of the European Union.

It is imperative to draw historical parallels between your victory and that of the great Dwight Eisenhower, a fellow Republican, who was instrumental in the dismantling of European colonialism in Africa.”

“I Cannot Convert to Islam” – Christain Wife says as her Muslim Husband Drags her to Court Over Religious Differences

A 62-year-old man, Adesanya Akanni, is seeking the dissolution of his 32-year-old marriage to Florence Akani, over religious differences.

Adesanya Akanni approached a Lagos Island Customary Court, Lagos on Thursday complaining that wife’s continued practice of her Christian faith was adversely affecting the family.

The petitioner claimed that his marital problems started about 26-years ago, when his wife, Florence resumed the practice of her Christian faith.

He also alleged that she changed the names of their five children to Christian names without his consent.

Akanni said, “Our five children were given Muslim names at birth, Kaosara, 32, Kudirat, 25, Mubarak, 22, Azeez, 19 and Musa, 17.

“Their mother and the Church she attends, have now changed their names to Oluwatomi, Victoria, Oluwasegun, Oluwarotimi and Peter respectively.

“I did not know until I went to the school of my last two boys to ask for Azeez and Musa but officials of the school claimed they did not have students bearing those names.

“It was when I mentioned their surname that I was told that they now bear Oluwarotimi and Peter.”

The petitioner also said he was not informed when his first daughter got married and gave birth to her two children.

“The Church and my wife gave out my daughter, without informing me; she gave birth to her two children. My wife and daughter did not tell me anything.

“We live under the same roof and over the past two years, my wife has stopped cooking my meals. She does not allow me to make love to her,’’ Akanni said.

Akanni, however, prayed the court to dissolve their marriage and award custody of the last two children to his wife, Florence, 61, who denied all the allegations.

She explained that Akanni did not insist that she should convert to Islam after their marriage, stressing that at the time of their marriage, “my husband was not a practising Muslim.

“I started attending Church when I had an 8-year delay after our first child; he used to accompany me to Church but later stopped and then prevailed on me to discontinue attending Church.

“This our fight over religion has been ongoing for years, but I have refused to stop going to church because God has been answering my prayers.

“After eight years of believing God for the fruit of the womb, God gave me, not just one but three other children. I have been taking them to Church ever since.

“When our first daughter wanted to get married, I informed my husband but he said our daughter should go and `meet her father in the church’.

“He had vowed he would not be part of the wedlock, unless our daughter re-converted to Islam,”

The mother of five, told the court that she still loved her husband but, ‘I cannot convert to Islam’.

The president of the court, Mr Awos Awosola, adjourned the case to Nov. 30 to enable other members from both families to mediate on the matter.

“Lagosians Consume N3bn Foodstuff Daily” – Ambode.

Ambode

Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has stated that daily consumption of foodstuffs in the state is worth over N3bn. He added that investors in the agricultural sector had a ready market and returns on their investments.

The governor spoke at the maiden edition of the Lagos Food Security and Exhibition Summit with the theme, ‘Actualising Sustainable Food Security in Lagos State: A New Comprehensive Agenda,’ adding that his administration would maximise Lagos comparative advantage to achieve food security.

He said,

“Nigeria has no business importing foodstuffs to feed its citizens. We must cultivate the land and improve efficiency in the agricultural value chain.

Our core policy thrust towards achieving food security is to maximise the comparative advantage of the state in agriculture and partner other states.”

Ambode said his administration had partnered the Kebbi State Government for the development of agricultural commodities such as rice, wheat, groundnut and onion, expressing optimism that the partnership would result in the supply of 70 per cent of the total national rice consumption.

“We have also acquired agricultural land in Ogun, Osun and Oyo states, as well as Abuja for rice cultivation and oil palm processing, among others,” the governor said.

He said the summit was organised to bring together stakeholders in the agricultural sector to proffer solutions to the challenges militating against the achievement of food security.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Food Security, Mr. Sanni Okanlawon, said the summit would realign emerging realities with new global trends on food safety, processing and funding for agrobusiness.

The Chairman of the summit, Alhaji Sani Dangote, said despite the shortage of arable land, the state should leverage on its comparative advantages to feed itself and neighbouring states.

Remember the man whose kidneys were removed by a doctor who mistook it for tumors in Adamawa? here’s an update on him.

tumor-03

Remember the herdsman kidneys that was removed at a Hospital in Jimeta, Adamawa by a quack doctor who though they were tumours? Here’s an update on his matter.

Isah has been at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital receiving medical attention. The state governor, Bindo Jibrilla, donated N5 million towards his treatment but plans to take him out of the country for a transplant hasn’t been fulfilled.

Audu Bulama Bukarti who visited him at the hospital yesterday, gave an update. Read Below:

The photos below are pictures of Isah Hamman, a 23-year old whose both kidneys were negligently removed by a Doctor in Jimeta, Adamawa state in the course of an appendectomy (surgical removal of appendix) about 3 months ago. He removed the kidneys and gave them to the victim’s parents to bury saying that is their son’s sickness.

This is case generated a lot of public outcry and at the end the Adamawa State Government promised to sponsor a transplant for him. The government has donated the sum of N5, 000, 000 out of which over a million naira has so far been spent on dialyses, feeding and other expenses. This young man is currently at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where he is receiving medical attention. I paid him a visit yesterday at his relatives’ invitation. As you can see below, I met him undergoing dialyses.

He undergoes at 3 dialyses every week and each dialyses takes over 4 hours. From observation and the patient’s testimony, the personnel at AKTH are very diligent and devoted to this patient care. However, the hospital lacks sufficient equipments to conduct a successful transplant.

The victims kidneys were removed more than 3 months ago. He has no kidney at all. But he is waiting for transplant. Hospital sources told me that one of the things delaying transplant is that there is a test they cannot do in Nigeria whose result they are waiting for from abroad. Since my visit, I have not got the peace of mind that this young Nigerian would have a successful transplant here.

My discussions with experts reveal that about N10 million will be sufficient for transplant abroad. I therefore call on the Federal Government, the Wife of the President, any state government or philanthropies to extend their helping hands as quickly as possible in order to fly this brother of ours to India, Egypt or any country for kidney transplant. This young man’s case is unique and requires your unique magnanimity and generosity.

After this stage, we will take up the matter against the doctor, his hospital, his employers and supervisors. Please share this to save your brother. Share until it gets to someone who can help. SHARE UNTIL WE SAVE THIS LIFE. Audu Bulama Bukarti 11/11/16

Outrage as Muslim girl throws Bible down the drain in her Snapchat video

muslim-girl-0

Female students in top Manchester school- Altrincham Grammar School are furious after their female Muslim classmate filmed herself on Snapchat throwing the Holy Bible down the drain. After she was reported to school authorities, the school just gave her a warning.

muslim-girl-01

The girl taunted classmates as she carried out the provocative act, leading parents to complain to her £15,000-a-year school. but she was set free after she apologised to the school authorities.

muslim-girl-02

According to Sun UK. A parent of a pupil said:

“It is disgusting to think this young girl thinks it’s acceptable to insult a religion by defacing a Bible like this. If a Christian pupil did this to a Koran, there would be uproar. Everyone in the school is talking about it and the parents are talking about it too. Pupils have been taking pictures of the video and been sharing it. It’s gone viral. They found the book in school and were throwing it around and making a joke of it before it was thrown down the drain.

The girl posted another Snapchat after she was pulled up on it by the school saying ‘thanks a lot, everybody, you’ve got me in trouble’.

muslim-girl-03

“There’s an awkwardness at school now because she’s angry that she’s been in trouble and she’s trying to find out who told on her. I think the school should have made a bigger response. She was let off with just a warning but I think it’s a lot more serious than that.”

A spokesperson of the school said to Sun UK:

“This was an isolated incident, we dealt with it privately and immediately. The child has apologised.”

“Donald Trump May Pull U.S. From Fight Against Boko Haram In Nigeria” – Wole Soyinka.

soyinkas

The victory of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential race could jeopardize U.S. support in Nigeria’s fight against Boko Haram, according to Nigerian Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka.

In an exclusive interview, Soyinka tells Newsweek that Trump’s “bunker mentality” could see the U.S. withdraw support for counter-terrorism operations in West Africa.

The Nigerian author and playwright also says that he will not destroy his U.S. residency permit just yet, despite a pre-election pledge to “cut” his green card, which is afforded to immigrants granted permanent residence in the country.

Trump, the Republican party candidate, shocked pollsters by defeating Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in Tuesday’s vote. The businessman and former reality television star secured victories in key swing states, capitalizing on an anti-establishment feeling among voters to win out against his more experienced rival.

Boko Haram, an Islamist militant group, launched an armed insurgency against the Nigerian government in 2009, killing thousands and displacing more than 2 million since then.

The group also pledged allegiance to the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) in 2015, though it has recently split into factions following the appointment in August of an ISIS-approved leader.

Under the administration of Barack Obama, the U.S. has provided financial support and military training to West African countries fighting Boko Haram.

The U.S. provided $71 million worth of equipment, logistics and training to five countries—Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Benin—that together formed a joint task force in 2015 to fight the militants, according to a February fact sheet from the U.S. State Department.

Obama also approved the deployment of up to 300 U.S. military personnel to Cameroon in October 2015 to carry out intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the region.

“One should expect that level of collaboration to diminish. Trump’s mentality is one of, ‘What are we doing there? What business do we have over there?’” says Soyinka, speaking to Newsweek from New York.

“I foresee Trump dismissing that kind of expectation offhand and closing in, shrinking, becoming smaller in terms of [the U.S.’s] presence in other parts of the world,” he says.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari extended his congratulations to Trump on Wednesday, saying that he looked forward to working with the president-elect “to build on and strengthen relations between Nigeria and the U.S.

Trump had little to say about U.S. foreign policy towards Africa in general and Nigeria specifically during his presidential campaign. While he has vowed to pursue ISIS in Syria and Iraq, the Republican has made no mention of whether he intends to persist with or discontinue the country’s support for counter-terrorism efforts in West Africa. Newsweek contacted the Trump campaign for further comment but received no immediate reply.

An analysis by South Africa-based thinktank the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) suggested that Trump could become “the single most effective recruiting tool for terrorist organizations across the globe,” including in Africa.

The ISS cited Trump’s hardline rhetoric towards Muslims, his advocation of the use of torture and expressed desire to target the families of militants all as potential factors in Trump being used by militant groups in recruitment drives.

Trump’s campaign pledge to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S. has already been used in a propaganda video by Al-Shabab, a Somali militant group aligned with Al-Qaeda.

Soyinka is based between Nigeria and the U.S., where he is affiliated to several universities. In a recent discussion with students at the University of Oxford in the U.K., which was shared in a video on October 27, the author vowed to destroy his green card should Trump be declared the winner of the election.

Following the announcement of Trump’s victory on Wednesday, Nigerians took to social media to question Soyinka about whether he would honor his pledge.

The Nigerian author—who was the first African to win the Nobel Prize in literature in 1986—says he is biding his time until Trump is inaugurated in January before deciding on his next steps.

“Why don’t we wait until Trump actually takes office?” says Soyinka. “I’m just going about my normal commitments, but definitely not getting into any more commitments. Let’s put it that way for now.”
