Popular Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has taken to social media to suggest that filmmakers use more realistic settings in their films.
He recommended filmmakers to avoid portraying affluent folks in traditional clothes or excessive makeup in everyday settings.
According to the actor, many directors are unaware that their films influence people’s culture and traditions.
Kanayo also observed that affluent individuals frequently dress informally, with their costly watches, sneakers, and T-shirts being more identifiable than traditional clothes.
He urged his colleagues to develop more credible and realistic films in order to strengthen the business and obtain an international reputation.

A Nigerian man identified as Ustaz has taken to social media to provide insight on the deceitful practices of several Nigerian banks concerning the inheritance of cash from deceased bank account holders and the role of next of kin.
According to his revelations, the commonly held idea among Nigerians that the money in the deceased’s accounts immediately passes to the next of kin is false and deceptive.
Instead, he revealed specific Nigerian banks’ questionable activities, asking customers to be prudent and take proactive actions to safeguard their wealth for their loved ones.
Ustaz explained that when a bank account holder passes away, Nigerian banks do not simply hand over the money to the next of kin without proper verification.

A video making rounds online shows the disturbing moment a maid urinated in the kitchen on her first day of work.
The maid, who was newly employed to assist with housekeeping, was captured peeing inside a plate in the kitchen on Tuesday, July 18.
In the trending clip, the woman took a plate and urinated in it before disposing the content into the kitchen sink. She then proceeded to clean the floor with a kitchen rag.
However, it appears she was oblivious to the fact that CCTV was installed in the kitchen, otherwise she wouldn’t have urinated so brazenly in the kitchen.

Veteran Nigerian singer and actress, Onyeka Onwenu, has disclosed that late Afrobeats legend, Fela Kuti, had romantic feelings for her.
Onwenu made this revelation during an interview with media entrepreneur Kadaria Ahmed on her podcast, “Quarter to 12”.
She shared that Fela once sought her hand in marriage, but she turned him down.
She recalled how she openly criticized the military when Fela was arrested for taking money out of the country, which was prohibited at the time.
According to Onwenu, it was during this period that Fela developed romantic feelings for her and invited her to his house to express his intentions.
Onwenu further revealed that Fela was aware that she would reject his proposal, as she later found out about a bet he made with someone, predicting that she would decline.

After several decades of continuous development and improvement, today’s smartphones offers computing performance, camera technology, battery life, charging, and communications features that would have been unthinkable in the not-so-distant past.
Among these features, network connectivity is typically one of the top concerns for smartphone users. Having developed at an incredibly rapid pace too, cell phone networks today cover most urban environments on this planet, enabling billions of people to connect online anytime, anywhere without interruptions. But despite the scale and sophistication of today’s mobile networks, there are still some occasions when connectivity can be suboptimal, often due to factors like poor phone performance or local network infrastructure. This can be of critical importance in times of emergency, when poor network connectivity could result in fatal delays. In such situations, the need for good connectivity becomes all to clear.
Why does phone signal differ from one device to another?
Mobile communication is a complex process involving multiple components like baseband chips, antennas, and more. When we send a message via WhatsApp, the baseband chip converts this message into an electrical signal and sends it to the nearest base station via radio waves through the phone’s antenna. After receiving the signal, the base station forwards this to the base station closest to the receiver, which then relays the message to the recipient’s phone. The recipient’s phone then converts the electrical signal back into text so that it can be read by our friend.
This of course is a highly simplified version of events. In reality, the radio waves sent by the phones and base stations will encounter a large number of obstacles on their journey, undergoing various forms of refraction, reflection, and diffraction that ultimately cause the signal strength to weaken before it reaches its destination. Walking into an elevator or an underground pass will block most routes for the radio waves to travel, and crowded places — where hundreds or even thousands of similar signals are flying around at the same time — can cause interference. Even holding a phone horizontally when playing games or watching videos can block the phone’s antenna. Together, these everyday situations have a large impact on signal strength, leading to stuttering phone calls, forever-loading web pages, and even full disconnection.
No two phone models are built the same, and signal performance can vary dramatically between different smartphones depending on their specific hardware and the user scenario in question. Excellent hardware no doubt forms the foundation for smooth network connectivity, but it is the effective use of software and signal processing algorithms that ensure this hardware remains effective in a variety of different situations.
Stable connectivity is only possible on flagship smartphones, right?
Despite being such an essential feature, not every smartphone is able to provide consistently good network connectivity. Big Brother Naija “Shine Ya Eye” winner and singer, Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney, has revealed that he was into music long before participating in the reality show.
The reality TV star disclosed this while appearing on the latest episode of The House Chronicles podcast.
According to Whitemoney, he had already begun his music career and even had his own band prior to his participation in Big Brother Naija.
“I was already into music before [going on the Big Brother Naija reality show]. It is just that I was doing more of highlife. Back in the days, I had a band and everything, and there was no media to really show us out, but I did my thing low-key. I have been in music for long. I got my scholarship as a drummer to go to school.
“When I came out [of Big Brother Naija show], the opportunities that presented themselves were not cooking opportunities. In fact, no cooking brand came to me. For those who are saying, ‘When this one start singing?’ I think they forgot that 99 per cent of the music composed in Big Brother House was done by me.” He said.
A while ago, Whitemoney reacted after a Nigerian journalist, Taiwo Alabi, in an open letter humbly advised him to quit music.
Speaking in an interview with Cool Fm, Whitemoney said he has received tons of hate comments from people who tend to compare him to past Big Brother Naija winners.
He reiterated that, contrary to claims that he’s following a trend by going into music, he had been doing music before he went into Big Brother’s house.
Ace comedian, Ayodeji Makun, popularly known as AY, has revealed that he has given up on trying to reconcile with his colleague, Basketmouth.
AY and Basketmouth have been at odds for 17 years, and AY recently disclosed that the rift was over a N30,000 gig.
During an interview with Chude Jideonwo, AY claimed that his issue with Basketmouth began in 2006 when Basketmouth failed to pay him the agreed-upon N30,000 for standing in for him at an event.
However, Basketmouth denied ever being friends with AY and stated that most of the claims made by AY during his interview with Chude Jideonwo were lies.
In what appeared to be an effort to make peace, AY publicly declared Basketmouth as his “guy” during his Easter Sunday show in London in April 2023. Unfortunately, this gesture did not result in a reconciliation between the two comedians. ICYMI, read here.
In a recent interview with Teju Babyface, AY disclosed that he had made efforts over the years to mend their relationship, but he has now reached a point where he no longer desires reconciliation and is willing to carry the grudge to his grave.
AY mentioned that senior colleagues in the comedy industry were aware of his attempts to reconcile with Basketmouth. However, they advised him to step back and stop forcing the reconciliation when Basketmouth remained unyielding.
“The bros [senior colleagues in the comedy industry] knew [about my beef with Basketmouth] and at some point in time, they had to ask me to slow down. They were like: ‘You’re doing too much. You are putting in too much to make this thing work. Friendship is not by force.
“I was believing that ‘No, this can work’. Even in my last stand-up comedy, I had to go on stage and I did another routine ‘My guy. How’s my guy? This is my guy. If you see this guy, tell him he’s my guy.’ And the following morning, every where exploded again. ‘We are not friends. We are not that. We are not this.
“So, for me now, I’m not pushing anything anymore. As I’m here now as AY, if I have to go to my grave without sitting with any of these guys to say ‘hello, ‘hi,’ I will be happy.” He said.
Controversial Nollywood actress, Judy Austin, has finally addressed her ex-husband’s claim that she started dating her colleague, Yul Edochie, while she was still married to him.
You will recall that Judy’s ex-husband, Obasi, called her out online in October 2022, accusing her and Yul of denying him access to his kids.
Obasi alleged that in 2012, he discovered Judy was having an affair with Yul Edochie, after which he noticed a change in her attitude towards him. This forced him to report her to her kinsmen, who resolved their issue.
He claimed that shortly after, Judy moved out of their matrimonial home with their two children and left with Yul Edochie.
However, finally reacting to Obasi’s claim months later, Judy Austin debunked it as false.
In a Facebook live session on Tuesday night, Judy revealed that she met Yul months after her marriage to Obasi ended.
According to her, her previous marriage ended in March 2013, and she met Yul Edochie years later.
“That is the fattest lie ever told about me on social media and I am going to elaborate more. My previous marriage ended in March 2013 and I saw Yul Edochie for the very first time years after my marriage ended.
I repeat, my previous marriage ended in March 2013 and I set my eyes on Yul Edochie for the first time years after that marriage ended. I saw him years after my marriage was completely dissolved. So anyone saying otherwise, they are planning lying.
If I saw Yul while in that marriage, let all the curses and insults that people have been heaping on me, let it happen to me a billion over but if for any reason I did not see Yul with my eyes years after my marriage was dissolved, then let all the curses go back to the people laying the curses a billion times over”. US-based Nigerian singer, Kelechi Orji, popularly known as Kelly Hansome, has finally reacted to allegations of being a dead-beat father.
In 2020, YabaleftOnline reported that the singer’s babymama, Mirabel Moradeyo, called him out and accused him of being an irresponsible father to their daughter.

Kelly Hansome has now responded to the accusations during a recent interview with media personality Daddy Freeze.
In the interview, he revealed that he hasn’t had the chance to see his daughter in five years because Mirabel denies him access to her.
The ‘Maga don pay’ crooner also accused Mirabel of being a prostitute who travels to Dubai to sleep with men for money.

Popular media personality, Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, better known as OAP Dotun, has advised parents to normalize rejecting certain gifts from their children.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Dotun emphasized that in situations where children give their parents expensive gifts that surpass their earnings, it is best for parents to reject such gifts.
He noted that rejecting such gift does not diminish the love and bond they share with their children.
“Dear Parents, let’s normalize rejecting some gifts from our kids. Sometimes when your kids buy u expensive gifts & u can’t equate what they do to what they give you or u don’t know how they make their money; You can reject it. They are still your children & they will be alright”, he wrote.

Meanwhile, Lagos big boy, Killaboi, who confessed to killing his girlfriend, has denied claims that her corpse was found with missing body parts.
The 26-year-old had admitted to stabbing his girlfriend, influencer Austa, to death in a series of posts on his Instagram stories on Monday, July 17, and stated that he was ready to turn himself in to the police.
Following his revelation, a message allegedly from a WhatsApp group of the estate where the incident occurred surfaced online, claiming that Austa’s corpse was found with her private parts and other organs missing.
Netizens accused him of being involved in fetish practices and using sports and crypto trades as a cover.

Popular media personality and reality TV star, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, has explained why he doesn’t love his birthdays.
Ebuka disclosed on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds, co-hosted by Beauty Tukura and Prince Nelson, that he constantly focuses on his life experience on his birthday anniversaries.
Ebuka, who turned 41 on July 14, 2023, said he goes extremely deep in his thoughts simply trying to find out what else he can do in his life.
He however noted that his 41st birthday was a touch lighter than normal because he had a very calm day. He claimed that it wasn’t as severe as others when he became upset and teary.

Popular Nollywood actress, Mimi Orjiekwe has reportedly been arrested by The Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Ikoyi, Lagos state on Monday night, for allegedly failing to deliver a contract worth N700,000,000 granted to her by a businessman, Mr Micheal Diongoli.
According to the report by blogger, Cuttie Julls, Mr Micheal Diongoli paid Mimi Orjiekwe a total of N700 million (seven hundred million naira) directly to get the procurement contract to provide particular domestic interior-design furniture items, but she failed to fulfill.
Meanwhile, according to information, Mimi Orjiekwe has been on the run for about two months since collecting the N700 million naira from the businessman.
Sharing details of her arrest on Instagram, Cuttie Julls wrote;
“It’s largely rumoured in Mimi’s close circus that the actress had previously mentioned to few that she was confident Mr Michael Diongoli would remain behind bars for a long time when he had issues with the Nigerian Interpol.
