An Italian lawyer is suing Emirates after he was sat next to an “obese” man on a nine-hour flight in economy class. Giorgio Destro claims his flight from Cape Town to Dubai was ruined by an overweight passenger whose body “spilled” into his seat on the Boeing 777. Destro snapped a selfie that shows him looking unhappy and apparently cramped in seat 29K next to the unidentified man who had the middle seat.
Italian newspaper Mattino Padova ,reported that, the lawyer said he suffered throughout the flight last July and was told by cabin crew he could not change seats because the flight was fully booked.
“For nine hours I had to stand in the aisle, sit on seats reserved for the cabin crew when they were free and in the final phase of flight resign myself to suffer the ‘spillover’ of the passenger at my side,” he told the newspaper in comments translated by The Local.
Destro claimed he flies so often with Emirates that he is a gold member in its Skywards frequent flyer programme, entitling him to perks such as lounge access and a guaranteed seat even on fully-booked flights.
The lawyer, who used to work at the Italian Consulate in South Africa, said Emirates refused to apologise or compensate him for his ‘hardship‘.
He is demanding €2759.51 in compensation; €759.51 as a refund for the flight which he wasn’t able to enjoy, and a further €2,000 in damages.
Apostle Kenneth Kiarie, 30, of God’s Covenant Holiness Church in Mihang’o, Kayole in Nairobi, told The Nairobian that he hurriedly married Marion Wagitu, 23, “because being a pastor, I needed a wife officially married in church.”
The two fell in love when Marion attended his church in June last year and the pastor saw in Marion a ‘humble rural girl.’
Two months later, Kiarie visited her parents in Murang’a to ask for her hand in marriage. By December, the pastor had requested for a wedding. It was granted and they were wedded in April this year.
Pastor Kiarie is said to have borrowed money to finance their wedding which has now left him in debt. But now, the pastor is being accused of throwing out his newly wedded wife for what are suspected as plans to marry another woman.
Even before the honeymoon was over, their marriage hit the rocks sometime in July, with both parties pointing accusing fingers at each other.
“He used to tell me that if I left, I would not get a husband, and that he had scores of beautiful girls hanging around him,” says Marion, who has since been allegedly thrown out of the marital home and is now back at her Murang’a village.
Marion says he married Kiarie because he is a pastor, but their marriage has been a bumpy one, with Kiarie allegedly blaming her for the declining congregation numbers and tithe amounts in his church, because of her odd behaviours in and out of the church.
“He blames me over a Sh70,000 debt he incurred to fund the wedding. He claimed I threw hot tea and stove at him and attempted to beat him in front of his parents,” says Marion, adding that the man of God often left her with Sh5 for cooking oil on grounds that she was a villager.
Kiarie swore in the name of God that the accusations were false. He instead accuses Marion of destroying their marriage through her weird behaviour, offensive words, attempt to assault him in front of friends and blood relations and accusing him of infidelity.
“Actually, that was the third time I chased her and it has now been successful. She wanted to control me but that is not African. I said we rather separate than have one of us dead,” he explains.

Many beggars on Lagos streets feign illness to deceive innocent persons and get alms from them, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, said on Thursday.
Egbeyemi spoke while parading a 40-year-old female suspect arrested by the operatives of the State Taskforce at Oshodi, Lagos. He urged Lagos residents to be cautious when giving alms, with many of such fake beggars trooping into Lagos daily.
“The rate at which these fake beggars operate in the state calls for concern.
“That is why the Agency is collaborating with relevant government Ministries, Agencies and Departments to get rid of these beggars on the streets and roads of Lagos.
“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni has directed that the suspect be immediately charged to court,” he said.
The suspect said that she bandaged her son’s leg with two rolls of white bandages and poured Gentian Violet (GV) on the leg everyday to deceive members of the public to give alms to the boy.
She said she made a lot of money in the Oshodi area of the state.
The suspect pleaded with the government not to charge her to court, saying she was ready to go back to her town and re-unite with her family voluntarily.

A fan had tweeted (above) that the singer did not make the recently published list of artistes nominated for the 2016 MTV Music Video Awards (MAMA) – He hasn’t dropped any single in 8 months, and he is set to drop his long-awaited album which had been on hold since he landed the deal with Sony BMG.
The three landlords at Oshorun Heritage Estate, Isheri and their trainer who were kidnapped last Saturday on Channels Avenue have been reportedly freed.
Kennedy Ucheagwu, Dr. Omololu Bello, Fidelis Esang and trainer Coach Oni were whisked away by gunmen clad in military camouflages during their routine exercise near Lekki Gardens Estate.
Initially, the gunmen demanded N300 million as ransom for each of them but the amount, The Nation gathered, was later reduced to N20million.
It was gathered that the police have tracked the suspects, mostly young boys, and their messenger identified as Mary, from the telephone number they used in contacting victims’ relatives.
The Nation reports that security agencies would have rescued the victims two days after the abduction, but had hitches as the kidnappers were also changing their location.
Spokesman for the Estate Association who confirmed the release of the victims, said they got home at the wee hours of Friday.
“We thank God. They have been released. They got home late. I don’t have much details now,” he said.

The 29-year-old reality star said:

Chyna got a bit sentimental and brought Rob (along with friends and mother Tokyo Toni) to the club.

But Chyna didn’t flinch at her fiance’s snobbery toward the sultry sirens of the stage.
‘I’m proud of where I came from, and I just wanted to show Rob what I had to go through,’ she said, ‘and the environment that I had to be in to make me this person.’

Police on Wednesday apprehended two men on drugs in south China’s Guangdong right in their car.
The driver and passenger were found sleeping in a vehicle while waiting at a red light. They were so soundly asleep that not even the honking from all the vehicles got held up behind could wake them.
Police officers responded to calls and arrived at the scene. After failing to wake them up, the officers searched the car and found tools for methamphetamine.
Before long, the men finally came to themselves, and were arrested. Meth substances were later found in their bodies.
The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a “fraudsters’ den” at Pokuku Village in the Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.
The den, which was nicknamed “Pokuku Shrine” was until Wednesday allegedly used by suspected fraudsters to carry out different forms of criminal activities such as fraud, according to the police, Punch reports.
The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ilyasu, on Wednesday said the police raided the shrine after an intelligence report on criminal activities being perpetrated there.
The shrine, which is a two-bedroom mud house, is located in the remote part of the village. It contained effigies, fake foreign and local currencies and other fetish objects.
Ilyasu said the shrine was raided by the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, and one of the suspected fraudsters who was said to be the ring leader, Haruna Moshood, was arrested, while three other accomplices escaped.
The police boss said many victims had been duped by the fraudsters, who were also said to be kidnappers.
He said:
“This is a house of horror where different kinds of criminal activities had taken place.
“Following diligent and intelligent information of our special operatives, FSARS stormed this horror house and we discovered that it is a receiving end of kidnapped victims.
“It is also a place where suspected kidnappers dispose property of their victims. We have been able to recover different denominations of fake dollars and nairas.
“By the time we arrived here, we did not see any victim, and some of the suspected kidnappers escaped. However, we were able to arrest one of the leaders, identified as Haruna Moshood.
“I appeal to the state residents to be cautious so that they will not become preys in the hands of criminally-minded people.”
The suspect told Punch Metro that he and other members of his gang were into fraudulent activities, adding that their victims were people looking for quick money.
Moshood said one of them usually hid in one of the rooms and would be talking as an “oracle” to deceive their victims. He said the effigies were also there to deceive their victims.
“We always play on the greed of the victims because they were looking for quick money.
“Again, we also study how wealthy they were by telling them to bring a certain amount of money. For instance, if we ask a victim to bring N100,000 and he brought it, that shows he or she could bring a higher amount.”
The 34-year-old Moshood said he just joined the gang in 2015.

Tragedy struck at the Ogoja Market, LASU-Igando Road, Lagos State, after operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad shot dead an undergraduate of a polytechnic in Edo State, Eldanojie Joseph.
The 20-year-old business administration student was said to be on a visit to his cousin, Friday Ojah, who lived on Alape Street, Iba Ojo, when he was hit by a stray bullet.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the operatives were chasing a suspected Internet fraudster, identified as Badoo, who had parked his car and fled upon sighting the officers.
The operatives were said to have started shooting sporadically.
The Esan, Edo State indigene, who had reportedly gone out to buy a canned drink with his cousin, was hit by a stray bullet.
He was said to have died on the spot.
Our correspondent was told that the officers took Joseph’s corpse, dumped it in the boot of the suspected fraudster’s car and drove off.
The cousin, Ojah, told our correspondent on Thursday that the police, in order to cover up their misdeed, said Joseph was a cult member.
He explained that Joseph had only arrived in Lagos about three weeks ago.
He said,
“We grew up and attended the same primary and secondary schools together. He gained admission into a polytechnic in Edo State, while I am still processing my admission into the same school.
“Around 9.30am on Monday, we strolled out to buy a can of soft drink. We were returning home when we learnt that some policemen were chasing somebody.
“We decided to go through the back of the market. As we turned back, my brother was hit by a bullet in the head and he fell down immediately.
“As I tried to call for help, I saw that the policeman that shot him had aimed his gun at me. I fled the place immediately.”
He said the officers put the corpse in the boot of the car left by the suspected fraudster and drove away.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the corpse was taken to the SARS headquarters in Ikeja, from where it was taken to a morgue.
Our correspondent was told that the SARS team that conducted the operation alleged that the victim was a cult member and he had attempted to shoot at them when they fired back.
“But it was all lies. He only had the canned drink we bought, a phone charger and a handset on him when the incident happened. The police lied to cover up their misdeed,” Ojah added.
The policemen on the team that killed the victim were identified as Lucky, Oganla.
A legal practitioner and family friend of the victim, Saheed Sanni, decried the killing, saying the policemen must be arrested and brought to book.
He said,
“Cases like this, involving SARS officers, have become rampant in the state. They kill with impunity and believe they can always get away with it. Whereas Section 33 of the 1999 Constitution protects the sanctity of human lives and prescribes punishment for violation of that sanctity.
You cannot just take anybody’s life without a court order or judgment. We are taking up the case and justice must be done.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said she had yet to be briefed on the incident, adding that she would get back as soon as the Officer-in-Charge of SARS briefed her.
She said, “The OC SARS has yet to brief the command on that issue and he has been directed to do so. I will get back as soon as I have the facts of the case.”
A girl was found motionless at Allen behind Alade Market yesterday – Facebook user, Hon Gabriel who shared the story, says he had to call 767 and waited 2 hrs for the Lagos state Emergency service to come to her aid.
As the story of this couple keeps unfolding, one is left with no choice than to be skeptical on the whole issue but who are we to judge?! We only know what we read and see on Social media.
Recall that moments after the lady’s story spread like wildfire on Twitter, Miriam Shehu, the lady who claimed her fiance, who she sponsored his M.Sc, betrayed her, deleted her Twitter handle over trolls on the platform…
…well, she has restored her account and has addressed the whole matter – in a series of new tweets, she says she’s at crossroads now and her fiance is dead to her.

Mark Angel and Emmanuella are hilarious duo making waves in the entertainment industry.
The young, online comedians open up to TS Weekend about their career, challenges and future expectations.
Could you tell us your names? Emmanuella: My name is Samuel Emmanuella Mark: My name is Mark Angel. That is my real name, not just a stage name even though I used to bear Ebere. Mark Angel is my real name.
Okay, Mark Angel, tell us about your family background? Mark: The background of my family is bush, bush, bush…
How do you mean? Mark: I grew up in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. I come from a small family of three kids, with my parents.
How did you start up in the entertainment industry? Mark: I dropped out of school and went to learn photography.
Why did you drop out? Mark: I dropped out due to financial issues, and moreover, I didn’t want to study Medicine because my aunt wanted me to be a medical doctor. So, I left for photography, and from there, I went into Nollywood business, working as an MC at events. Soon, I started shooting movies with Denilson Igwe. That was how we started.
How did Emmanuella come into the scene? Mark: Emmanuella happened to be one of the kids I was always with. There was this day we wanted to do a comedy which would require kids. So, we thought of using kids and it wasn’t playing out well. We were trying to play Mr Bee’s characters because I used to act as a clown at events. One day, we were rehearsing for a stage drama when Emmanuella, who usually came around to watch and sometimes joined in the voice training for laughter, suddenly picked interest. Someone was acting and she (Emmanuella) said she could do it. It was like she could do it better and we allowed her to do it, and when she did it, we saw that she is good and only needed training, but then, she was still very small.
How old are you Emmanuella? Emmanuella: I am six-years-old.
Can you tell us why you like acting? Emmanuella: I like to make people laugh and make them forget their sorrows.
Has there ever been a time someone came to you and talked about what you are doing? Emmanuella: Yes, there was this day my friend in school told me that she likes the way I act. Her name is Love. I felt happy when she told me that.
How have you been coping with school and comedy? Is acting not affecting your studies? Emmanuella: It is not affecting my studies. I try to cope and I am doing well in both.
What do you want to be in future? Emmanuella: I want to be an actress and also a fashion designer.
How was the experience when you had your first stand-up comedy? Emmanuella: I felt excited and happy. I wasn’t shy because that is not possible. I can never be shy.
How are your siblings? Emmanuella: They are doing fine.
What your position in the family? Emmanuella: I am the last born of the family.
Since you dropped out of school, have you ever felt like going back? Mark: I want to go back to school to study Business or anything related to security.
Now that we know your brand as skits, what should your fans expect from you in the nearest future?
Mark: It depends on what you want. Skits may stop for a while and we are working on our movie. Apart from that, there are so many things we have been doing. It is a happy industry.
Emmanuella, how did you feel when the Igbinedion family hosted you to an in-house party in Abuja? Emmanuella: I felt very happy.
Do you hope to meet with President Buhari one day? Emmanuella: Yes, I will be happy to meet him because I have been eager to talk to him to reduce the price of fuel.
You said you want to be an actress, who is your role model, I mean the actress you want to be like? Emmanuella: I like aunty Mercy Johnson that acted Dumebi and aunty Chioma Chukwuka. I like the way they act.
In the comedy industry, who do you like most? Emmanuella: I like uncle AY and uncle Basket Mouth.
What is your best subject in school? Emmanuella: I like Mathematics and English.
Since you came to Lagos, what challenges have you been facing? Mark: We are a brand coming from the digital background. It has not been easy digging into the industrial environment. It is the challenge of how to do a bigger production because we need money to get results. It has also been difficult convincing people to invest in us and have confidence in us. Another challenge is that, we usually stay in our house, make a no-budget video and send it on-air, and it gains acceptance. But now, we are moving to budget-based projects. You have to make the right connection and move from your house. We need money to do bigger productions. Even as I speak, Denilson is about to quit his job because the game has gone too far, and for him to devote more time.
Will it be right to quote you that you are broke and need sponsors? Mark: Yes, we need sponsors, basically partnership. A lot of projects are just lying there wasting. It is hard to convince people.
When last did you see your mummy? Emmanuella: A day to my birthday and that was July 21. I am missing her.
Tell us about one naughty thing you did that made your mummy beat you? Emmanuella: Ask my uncle (Mark Angel). I can’t remember.
Mark: I can only tell the day I beat her. That was not too long ago. She poured popcorn all over the room, and I had warned her about that.
What is your overall assessment of the Nigerian entertainment industry? Mark: It is growing too fast; so fast that if you are not awake, you will be left behind, and one morning, you’ll wake up and see that it is not beside you anymore. It is a proactive industry and so unpredictable that we have to always be at the edge and guide against being pushed off. Again, it is a competitive industry but we aren’t out to compete with anybody. We are just on our own line to make people happy and do our thing. They want us to dress as celebrities, come out of a big car, if not, they won’t talk to you. Anyway, we are learning.
What do you want to tell your fans?
Emmanuella: I want to say a big thank you for loving, watching me and also loving and accepting Mark Angel.
Princess Oritsema Ekwejunor showed how her husband allegedly abused her physically
A victim of sexual abuse in the hands of her estranged husband has taken to Facebook to vent her anger after exposing the man’s dirty shenanigans. She alleged that the husband has been sexually abusing her and beating her to the extent that he blackmailed and extorted her money. The woman’s revelation has put into question the status of her husband who is said to be a pastor.
Princess Oritsema Ekwejunor wrote:
“Mr Omasan Mabiaku marriage is not by force I have left you over a month due to your constant violence, torture but this is the end; you pretend to the world you are a pastor only because you are now broke, election is over and the aspirant you blackmailed and duped is no longer there for your extortion.
You lavished money buying cars and impregnating 16-year-old girls. I married you with just two children now you gave me extra 6. As I am talking right now your Turkey Baby Mama is 7-months pregnant. Imagine using soldiers to beat me up and tore my clothes at Tima Guest house like a criminal, a harmless woman and arrested me because you think you are the owner of police station.
You raped me at a tender age of 16 where I lost my virginity to you. I am not perfect I wanted to build a home with you and straighten your life, I never knew that was my unforgettable mistake. I find it difficult to understand why whenever I get pregnant and I get you informed I always get miscarriages.
Your evil deeds has virtually made me enemies with everyone and people plot evil against me just because I am your WIFE! You bribe pastors so they can hide your evil deeds. I recorded a conversation of you having sex talk with one of your church girls and now you ended up framing me so I can be the victim.
Princess Oritsema Ekwejunor
You secretly slept and had an affair with my best friend, you bought a car black evil spirit and opened a shop somewhere at shell road for her. When even the car I drive posing as a big man’s wife is not bought with my name. People think I am enjoying but hell no!
I fend for myself. The South Africa trips were all arrangements I did on my own where you later applied for yours just because you are obsessed with me. I told you I am fed up I don’t need this hell life I’m living as marriage. If we were in the western country will you beat up a woman like this?
You think you are God but I will prove to you my God lives. If I have been a bad wife let God judge and if I have been a good wife and took care of your kids of 17 all grown up like me let God judge”. I might not have anybody to stand for me but God will fight for me.
Soon I will upload the audio of your conversation between you and underage girls having phone sex. Let the world hear the pretence of wolf in sheep clothing! Say no to domestic violence!”
You have probably heard of Bobrisky, the “Nigerian male Barbie” and Nigerian King of SnapChat.
You haven’t? Well, you’re probably leaving under a rock or haven’t been on social media for about a month or so now.
Bobrisky is a highly effeminate and openly gay Nigerian man who is a ‘bleaching expert,’ wears makeup and lives lavishly.
All the above pretty much sums up Bobrisky, real name Idris Okuneye; or so we thought until he was ousted as a fake who just displayed enough affluence on social media to create a popular opinion that he was indeed rich.
We believe there’s a Bobrisky in everyone. Here are our seven reasons why.
1. You’ve caught the Snapchat bug
And on Snapchat, you only have to post the best.
There’s something addictive about sharing every moment of your day with your friends, and even more addictive when you carefully select the highlights of your time only.
A young man identified simply as Linus, from Phase 1 area of Police barrack in Gwagwalada, Abuja, was few hours ago, apprehended for stealing his neighbour’s goat.
The suspect who reportedly killed the goat and attempted to sell it at a nearby abattoir, was caught and paraded with the dead goat and made to pay N5,000 in compensation to the owner.
As part of the ongoing digital migration process, Ugandans are set to start paying to listen to radios, the way it is with televisions, Chimpreports has learnt.
Uganda officially migrated to digital from analogue in June last year, a process that requires TV set owners to purchase digital terrestrial decoders installed on their sets to receive digital signals.
Addressing broadcasters during the National Association of Broadcasters Annual General Meeting at Hotel Africana, Uganda Communications Commission Executive Director, Godfrey Mutabazi, said that in 2 years’ time, the country will move from analogue to digital radios.
“Two years from now, radio will also go digital .We shall have pay radios. We are still doing research together with Makerere and other Universities about the same issue but in 2 years it will be here,” Mutabazi said.
“There will be digital signals that these radio stations will have to pay for because whoever gets a license for signal distribution will demand something,” he added in an interview to Chimpreports.
Mutabazi cited that there are not so many people in Europe catching the stations like BBC free of charge apart from those in disadvantaged areas.
“In order to access that signal, you must pay some money. We must understand that slowly free things are disappearing.”
Emphasis
The UCC boss said digital migration is a technology that must be accepted by everyone, and that there are no shortcuts.
“There was a time we had Short Wave and when we migrated to Frequency Modulation, people never complained of it. People didn’t say anything about the migration. Why now talk ill of digital migration, something we have been working on for the last 10 years?”
Mutabazi said digital migration was conducted properly according to the law, stressing it must be done and complied with by all people.
He noted that these directives originate from Geneva and UN member countries which are expected to implement them and that as a member of the Northern Corridor Integration body, Uganda cannot sit and watch.
“For you to have a radio set or television, you have to be rich and buy it. It then makes no sense when you say you want a free signal,”Mutabazi wondered.
To these people, recession is just word. An apparent “big boy” was the center of attraction in a Benin nightclub in Edo state, after he bought a bottle of Ace of Spade champagne for his girl who was celebrating her birthday.
Against expectation, the young man poured the expensive drink which is worth over N120,000 ($300) for the girl as she washed her hands with it (this is apart from the other expensive drinks which were ordered at the club).
Being a rare happening, other girls at the club couldn’t help but take pictures.
