A 22-year-old lady, Grace Igwe, who lives with her parents at 19, Agulu Street, Umuahia, Abia State, has reportedly organised her own abduction with her boyfriend, Sunday Bright.
Igwe and Bright were yesterday paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade. Bright, according to Oyebade, is from Esan North, Edo State.
He was arrested in connection with the abduction of the lady after she was reported missing by her father, Obinna Igwe, on August 9.
“Search for the whereabouts of the missing Grace Igwe by the police and the family of the victim yielded positive result when an unknown caller demanded N100,000 ransom, which was paid in parts into the bank account of the suspect.
“This link was followed by the police in their investigation until the suspect was arrested on September 9 at Akpakpava area in Benin City, Edo State and the suspect led the police on the rescue of the victim,” Oyebade said.
Narrating his own side of the story, Bright said his girlfriend, Grace, came to him demanding N200,000 and when he said he did not have the money she pressed for whatever he could afford.
He explained that because of the pressure and the urgency of the demand he suspected she had fallen into the hands of fraudsters who wanted her to bring the money.
Bright said he asked her whether the parents were aware of the development and she said no. From that time he started making contacts with her parents to raise the money demanded by the fraudsters who Grace alleged took her phone and other valuables until she returned with the ransom.
The suspect added that when it became obvious that she was a victim of fraudsters, he decided to help her raise the money by making calls and text messages to her parents and in the process he was arrested by the police. He said Grace stayed with him for three weeks while trying to raise the money.

A 20-year-old student is auctioning her virginity online in order to raise enough money to study abroad. Ariana, from Russia, is selling her virginity on an escort site, with bids starting at £130,500.
Although she looked at other ways to raise money, she settled on the sale of her virginity as the easiest way to raise money quickly.
‘Many students have the issue that during their studies they have to deal with multiple problems. You have to go to work in order to pay for your education,’ said Ariana.
‘I want to move to another country for my studies in medicine. The university will be very expensive, the rent will also be high.
‘I want to move to another country for my studies in medicine. The university will be very expensive, the rent will also be high.
‘I imagine that living in another country will be very hard, therefore I want to get the financial burden out of the way so I can focus on my medical studies.’
According to Ariana, her parents are not aware of how she is currently hoping to raise the money to start her new life abroad but she has no problem with explaining it to them when they eventually do discover what’s going on online.
And Ariana is not facing the auction alone. Her best friend Lolita is also auctioning her virginity, with bids starting at £130,500.
Despite having her friend alongside her, Ariana describes herself as an ‘independent woman’ and feels that selling her virginity is her own choice.
‘Why should I wait any longer?’ she said. ‘Why should I lose my virginity to someone who could then break my heart later?’
And while Ariana is looking at the sale from as an investment, she hopes the winner will be caring, and deal with her respectfully.

A middle-aged woman identified only as Agnes on Sunday in Abakaliki lost the pot of rice she was cooking to thieves. Some pressmen who visited Agnes’ residence behind Nnodo Secondary School, Amike-Aba on Monday report that she was still in shock over the incident.
It took repeated appeals by Vanguard‘scorrespondent to make Agnes talk, as she maintained that her husband had barred her from speaking further on the issue to avoid negative attention to the family.
“I came back from a village-meeting late on Sunday and put the rice on fire so that my family could have their dinner and eat the remnant on Monday morning.
“This apartment, as you can see, has no kitchen so we cook in the space in front of the house, likewise other occupants of the building,” she said.
Agnes said that as she went inside her room to fetch some condiments, she was delayed by the attention she had to give to her crying child.
“I gave attention to my child who was crying and by the time I came out to continue cooking, the pot of rice had vanished, with the stove still enkindled.
“After I recovered from the shock, I started screaming which attracted my husband, family members and neighbours who were all as stupefied as I.
“When it was established that no occupant of the building took the pot, it dawned on us that the act was perpetrated by a thief who exploited the vulnerability of the improvised kitchen,” she said.
The woman declined further comments but her neigbour, Justin Mbam-Egbe, noted that the situation had re-awakened security consciousness among the occupants of the house.
“This is the first theft case we are experiencing and we will henceforth be security conscious to avert future occurrences,” he said.
A private security consultant in Abakaliki, Dr John Odikwa, blamed such incident on the current economic recession in the country.
“The country has degenerated to a level that people now steal pots of rice and soup and with the yuletide approaching, the society should be ready for serious security challenges.
“The Federal Government should take immediate measures to alleviate the sufferings of the people to prevent total breakdown of law and order,” he said.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ebonyi police command, Mr George Okafor, described the incident as funny and noted that it had not been reported to the command.
“It is difficult for such incidents to be reported but we assure the citizens of the state of adequate protection of their lives and properties,” he said.

A Kano Senior Magistrates’ Court sitting in Rijiyar Zaki on Monday sentenced one Rabiu S., 22, to 30 months imprisonment for theft of slippers.
The Senior Magistrate, Aminu Fagge, sentenced Rabiu to two years and six months after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge. Fagge did not give the convict of Aisami Quarters in Kano an option of fine.
Prosecutor, Yusuf Sale had told the court that Surajo Umar of Kurna Quarters, Kano, reported the case to Nasarawa Police Division, Kano, on Sept. 16.
Sale said on the same date at about 8PM the convict went to the complainant’s business place at Gidan Gashash Singer Market Kano.
He said Sani “used razor blade and tore the sack where the complainant Umar kept his goods and stole one roll of bath room slippers containing 35 pairs valued N6,000″.
Sale also told the court that the convict was charged for theft at Chief Magistrate Court and sentenced to three months imprisonment or a fine of N10,000 on February 5, 2016.
He added that Sani was also sentenced to six months imprisonment or a fine of N20,000 at the same court on April 7, for theft.
The prosecutor said this was the fourth time the accused was arraigned for theft this year, stressing that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Penal Code.

Dr Adekunle Owolabi, a Nigerian doctor practicing in Labrador West, Canada, who asked a woman during a Pap test if she “liked big ones or small ones” has lost his medical licence for six months and must be chaperoned when seeing female patients for two years once he goes back to work.
A three-person tribunal established by the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons found Dr. Owolabi guilty Monday of four counts of professional misconduct after a six-day hearing earlier this year.
Four female patients had accused the Nigeria-trained doctor of making sexual comments, and of inappropriate hugging and kissing.
To resume his general practice, Adekunle must take a course on appropriate doctor-patient boundaries. He was also ordered to pay $75,000 in costs related to the investigation and disciplinary process.
In each of the four separate complaints, Owolabi was found to have shown a lack of respect for the dignity and privacy of his patients, constituting professional misconduct.
He has 30 days to appeal the penalties to the trial division of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dr. Elizabeth Mate, who led the tribunal said comments Owolabi made to one complainant during a 2014 Pap test, asking if she “liked big ones or small ones,” were “cavalier” and “unprofessional.”

A blind hoarder who had always wondered what became of her son 20 years ago has discovered that he was lying dead upstairs the whole time.
But because there was so much junk and bad smells in the house, she apparently had no idea.
Authorities in New York say they believe the woman thought he had simply left home without saying anything, Daily Mirror reports.
Now the horrific truth has been revealed at the house on Avenue N near East 22nd Street.
The mother is now quite elderly and had been living with the skeletal remains of her son, possibly for as long as 20 years, the New York Post reports.
She is a legally blind hoarder who may not have even known he was there, NYPD sources told the paper. The chilling discovery was made on 15 September when a relative arrived at Rita Wolfensohn’s home in Midwood.
Rita was in hospital and needed some things, and the relative was helping out.
Upstairs, in a bedroom stuffed full of items, the sister-in-law Josette Buchman found a “completely intact” skeleton, dressed in jeans, socks and a shirt, lying on its back on a thin mattress on the floor, police sources told The Post.
The law-enforcement source told the paper it was like something out of Hitchcock’s finest horror – the 1960 flick in which a son, Norman Bates, keeps his dead mother’s remains in a basement.
The source said: “It was like some reverse ‘Psycho’ scene.”
However, it seems investigators really believe Ms Wolfensohn may not have known she was living with the corpse of her son. Cobwebs and garbage filled the room where the body was found. The smell of decaying food had long replaced any odour of rotting flesh.
Police asked her about her son, and she talked as if he had simply moved out.
Authorities have not yet officially identified the body but believe the man was Wolfensohn’s son and that he died of natural causes. According to public records, Wolfensohn had two sons, Michael and Louis.
Relatives said they had not seen Louis – who today would be 49 years old – in 20 years. Michael died in 2003 at the age of 38, according to court documents, said the paper.

A 20-year-old man, who lures children into his room with kids cartoon television shows on cable network, and then rape them, has been apprehended by the police in Egbeda area of Lagos State.
Upon interrogation, he blamed the devil for his act. The suspect, Bassey Johnson, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, met his waterloo when one of his victims, a four-year-old girl, complained of pains in her private parts to her mother.
During interrogation, the toddler mentioned Johnson’s name, consequent upon which her parents invited the police. When interrogated, Johnson, who just concluded his apprenticeship in welding, said:
“This is the devil’s handwork. I am indeed very sorry for my action. I did not know that the offence is this grave.
When I came back from an outing on Saturday, I tuned my television set to a cartoon station. Immediately, the children in the compound heard the sound, they rushed inside to watch. I took my clothes, which I had washed the previous day, to the line and when I came back, I sat on the bed and carried one of the children on my lap. That is how I do it.
After some time, as my conscience started pricking me, I dropped her. The children later went out when there was power cut. But the child’s mother later called me and asked what I did to her daughter. I opened up but maintained that I did not penetrate.”
According to Vanguard, the clinical check on the girl revealed that her hymen was broken, indicating that there was penetration. The suspect, according to his parents, had been transferred from Egbeda Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Yaba.

At a first glance, it might strike you as just a design but it is there for a reason and meant to serve a good purpose.
Without the hole, a pen will be completely airtight and as you write and use the ink, the pressure will fall preventing the ink from flowing to the tip and eventually the pen will cease to write although there is still ink in it.
On highlands or in planes where the pressure is lower, a pen with no hole can explode soiling your attire with ink.
The hole equalizes the pressure in the pen to allow it to write. So the next time you see it, you should know it is not just there for fun.
