When Shonde’s appeared in court today, the prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, informed the court that he had received a copy of the legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPPs when the case was mentioned.
But the counsel to Shonde, Mr. I. B. Mohammed, responding to Uwadione’s submission, told the court that he was yet to be served his own copy of the advice and would like to apply for it.
The prosecutor further stated that the offence contravenes Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 which prescribes a death sentence for convicts.
The Chief Magistrate, Oluwayemisi Adelaja, ordered that Shonde should remain in prison custody and adjourned the case to July 8 for mention.
It will be recalled that the 51-year-old was alleged to have murdered his wife, Ronke Shonde, 37, on May 5 at their residence on 3, Tiemo Street, Egbeda area of Lagos state.
A US-based Ghanaian businessman, Dr. Bartum Kulah, who accused Gollywood cum Nollywood actor, Van Vicker of sleeping with his wife, Clarice Ford-Kulah, has tendered apologies, saying there was nothing of such.
Recall that Kulah had accused the actor of having illicit affair with his wife who is his manager and business partner.
Kulah had said in a statement to Ghanaweb: “My wife will deny the accusations and claim to be his Manager and Business partner. That’s what she always says, it’s all a cover, and I’ve caught them at a hotel twice.
“He sleeps with my wife anywhere they go. I really have evidence to show that he is sleeping with my wife and even warned my wife on that but still they are doing it.
“It is a shame to Gollywood/Nollywood actor, Van Vicker sleeping with people’s wives as he has married too. This is part one, I will bring all the pictures, videos, I mean all the evidence out, if they refuse to stop, especially Van Vicker.
“I have been married to my wife for long years with two children, but she does not care about the children, all she knows is travelling with Van Vicker,” the actor’s manager’s husband had alleged.
But in a swift ‘U-turn’, Dr. Kulah has withdrawn the allegation, describing it as unguided.
On his Facebook page, the businessman apologized to the actor and his family for the harm he could have caused them during the period.
His statement reads:
“I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to my wife Dr. Clarice Ford-Kulah and Van Vicker for the inconvenience caused by my unguided statements which went viral.
“I allowed my misunderstanding of genuine professional relationship and jealousy to get the best of me.
“However, it is unfortunate that many statements I made were misquoted and embellished by the press.
“I have no evidence (pictures nor videos) to prove that Van Vicker is having an affair with my wife. It was an empty threat.
“Again to Van Vicker, I regret the inconvenience this caused your career and family.
To my wife Clarice, I’m sorry for my actions and for putting you out there negatively. Please forgive me,” Kulah added.
Nigeria’s Bring Back Our Girls movement and family members are demanding that the government provide news of the only schoolgirl among the 219 kidnapped to escape the clutches of Boko Haram Islamic extremists, the UK Guardian reports.
Yakubu Nkeki, an uncle of Amina Ali Nkeki said:
“Even this morning people came to my house asking if I had been able to find out her whereabouts. It’s outrageous. Some people are crying. We don’t understand why the government wants to keep her family away,”
Hunters found Ali on 17 May, wandering on the fringes of Boko Haram’s Sambisa Forest stronghold with her four-month-old baby and the father of the child, a Boko Haram fighter who she said had helped her escape.
Ali was flown to the capital, Abuja, two days after her escape for a televised meeting at which the president, Muhammadu Buhari, promised her the best care and rehabilitation. The Bring Back Our Girls movement says no one has seen her since, not even leaders of the Chibok community where the girls were kidnapped. It says Ali has said some of the girls have died but most are alive, raising hopes they could still be rescued.
“It is now more than one month since Ms Ali was rescued and her avowed restoration process by the federal government as pledged by the president began. Having given a reasonable length of time, our movement has a number of concerns regarding Amina Ali as well as the rest of our Chibok girls still in the terrorist enclave,” said the statement signed by the movement’s founders Aisha Yesufu and Oby Ezekwesili.
Government and military officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment. It had been presumed that Ali would be debriefed by state security agents for information that could lead to a rescue operation, and that she would receive psychosocial care.
Ali’s uncle said the last time he saw her and her mother, Binta Nkeki, along with baby Safiyah, was in the office of the National Security Adviser at the presidential villa on 19 May.
“We have had no credible information since, though I am told they are in the hands of the government,” he said.
Bring Back Our Girls also demanded the government prosecute the father of Ali’s child, Mohammed Hayyatu, for abduction and rape. The military has said he appears to be a Boko Haram commander and is being held for interrogation.
“We are extremely disappointed with the evident lull in rescue actions and lack of any progress report,” the movement said.
New militant group, Asawana Deadly Force of Niger Delta (ADFND), has not only vowed to disable the oil business in the nine Niger Delta state, but also blow up the longest bridge in West Africa, 3rd mainland bridge and other bridges in the South, unless the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Government honour their demands.
A statement by its leader, Commander Olomubini Kakarakokoro, a.k.a No Mercy reads:
“Except our demand for Niger Delta Republic is granted, without further notice to the Federal Government, we shall proceed to bomb Bonga field flow station, Asaba- Onistha Bridge, Third Mainland Bridge and other major bridges in the Southern part of the country, just for a start.
“The Federal Government should as a matter of urgency, withdraw all the military check points from the riverside areas of the Niger Delta, else we shall proceed to match against any baby military formation in the region without further notice.
“We are most dreaded, deadly and dangerous group in Niger Delta. Our team is comprised of specialists in different fields of war, and is poised to win the struggle for a Niger Delta State.
Our struggle is not for monetary benefit or the so-called monthly N65,000 amnesty stipend. It is for the liberation and the development of the Niger Delta region.
“We therefore, warn every other group or persons as regards the fake dialogue process embarked upon by the Federal Government to know that they are not doing that for us. We are taking over from our brothers, the Niger Delta Avengers.
“As we speak all preparations and plans are on ground to strike and bring down the crude oil production to 0%, irrespective of the of the military presence in the region. The Federal Government will hear from us.”

Activists, students and other protesters joined Malawi’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Bon Kalindo in the streets of the capital, Lilongwe on Thursday, June 23 to demonstrate against albino killings.
The legislator, human rights activists and other concerned citizens were protesting against continued abductions and killings of people with people with albinism.
The protests came after at least 19 albinos had been killed in Malawi since 2014.
The legislator, who was a popular stage and TV comedian accused some unnamed politicians of being part of the albino hunters’ syndicate, hence their failure to act decisively.
Kalindo, announced that he would parade naked but during the march, he simply wore a small red short, a red vest, a red scarf and red cap.
Contrary to the guidance by Amnesty International that life imprisonments were enough punishments for albino killers, Kalindo said those convicted should face the death penalty.
“The heinous acts of these criminals need to be stopped immediately. If we want to prevent further murders, we should use the strongest punishment available to deter murder, and that is the death penalty,” Kalindo told News24 in a telephone interview before the march.
He said if murderers were sentenced to death and executed, prospective ones would think twice before killing for fear of losing their own lives.
“The bottom line is simple. Vicious murderers should be killed to prevent them from murdering again. Let’s accept the fact. The death penalty as a deterrent and as a form of permanent incapacitation helps to prevent future crime,” he observed.
Malawi’s information minister Patricia Kaliati recently ruled out the implementation of the death penalty against killers of people with albinism. She said it was possible to mete out stiff punishment while respecting human rights.
“Life imprisonment is also a strong deterrent punishment,” she said.
Malawi leader Peter Mutharika has also rebuffed calls for the implementation of death penalty.

His ex must really be special to him for him to go this length just a make a point.

Controversial OAP, Daddy Freeze has pointed threatened to dump Zenith Bank Nigeria over allegations of unethical practices.
The Cool FM OAP, following reports that some members of staff of the bank went on their knees at Governor Fayose’s residence, has declared that he would stop banking with the institution and sell all shares he has with it.
He also expressed disappointment at the behaviour of the staff, “If these are really Zenith Bank workers, I am utterly disappointed! What rubbish!? Either side of the argument, all I see are unethical banking practices. Being accused of giving financial backing to a candidate in an election is bad enough, then men with the alleged bank’s ID kneeling before a governor?? This is the height of it.”
He then demanded an explanation from the bank’s management saying “Dear Zenith bank, you had better come up with a good explanation for this garbage or I will be tempted to stop banking with you and sell all the shares I have in your bank, as I will never own a single share or have an account with a bank that funds political campaigns!”

2Face Idibia, is seen here having a glorious moment as he takes a photo with Snapchat king and popular music star, DJ Khaled.
If DJ Khaled were to share a snap video on his snapchat with 2Baba, we’re sure he’d be like “African mogul talk! Stay tuned, we up to something!” and 2baba will like sing a line or something and Khaled would reply “I like that!“. Lol
