Parents Who Post Photos Of Their Children On Facebook Could Be Jailed.
Parents could face prison for putting embarrassing photos of their children on Facebook, French authorities have warned.
Mums and dads who overshare pictures of their kids could be embroiled in legal action once their little one grows up.
This is according to the French government, whose infamously strict privacy laws dictate that parents could be slapped with thousands of pounds in fines or jail time for posting intimate snapshots without their children’s permission.
Parents face fines of up to €45,000 if found guilty of breaching their right to privacy when they are young.We all know the mum who posts more than 10 pictures of her baby a day, or the dad who overshares details of his kid’s toilet habits.
But these parents might want to reconsider their approach on social media. Because a professor of education and social research has warned that mums and dads will one day face “backlash” for it.
Professor Nicola Whitton from Manchester Metropolitan University told The Guardian:
“I think we’re going to get a backlash in years to come from young people coming to realise that they’ve had their whole lives, from the day they were born, available to social media.Parents have to work out what’s right for them, but be aware that this is another person, another human being, who may not thank them for it in 15 years to come.
“It may seem hard, but my line would be don’t put pictures online until they’re of an age where it’s appropriate to discuss it with them.”

How Killer Husband, Lekan Shonde Surrendered Himself To The Police After Friends Persuaded Him To (Photos)
Beleaguered husband, Lekan Shonde – accused of killing his wife in a story that has captivated the nation – yesterday surrendered himself to the police, after insisting that he wouldn’t.
Lekan has been accused of beating his wife, Ronke to death in a domestic fight in his Egbeda residence.
According to Encomium, the suspect decided to turn himself in because friends pleaded with him to report himself to the police and face the full proceeding of the law in proving his innocence.
The efforts to get Lekan to surrender by his friends was initiated when they reached out to a certain Chris Kehinde Nwandu, a blogger who has stayed on the story.
A delegation met Lekan at a hotel in GRA Ikeja around 11:30 am before they subsequently went on to meet the commander of the Rapid Reponse Squad, Tunji Disu who in turn took them to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni.
The Commissioner referred the case to the homicide section in Panti police station, Yaba.

“He Had No Idea His Wife Was Dead” – Lekan Shonde’s Friends Speak.
Yesterday, Lekan Shonde who was alleged to have beaten wife, Ronke to death on Thursday night and fled, turned himself in. However, his close friends claim he did not kill his wife, Ronke.
Since leaving home, the suspect was said to have move from Cotonou, Benin Republic to Badagry and Ondo State.
The Nation reports that he was convinced to come back to Lagos from Ondo State on Sunday night. According to a police source, Shonde, who is from Ogun State, eventually listened to the advice of his friends and relatives and returned to Lagos, but stayed in a hotel at Ikeja GRA.
It was gathered that undercover detectives from RRS were already in the hotel before his friends took him to Disu’s office at about 1pm.
Shonde, it was gathered wept, claiming that he did not kill his wife.
Although the police shielded Shonde from reporters, his friends, Sunday Nwobi and Gbenga Sholuki, who claimed to have known him for over 30 years, said he is not violent.
They claimed that he loved his wife so much that he allowed her to keep the family’s account.
“At the moment he has nothing because even the money he makes was kept in an account the wife has access to. Even the ATM card is with her. Everything was under her. That’s how much he loved her,” they claimed.
According to Nwobi, the suspect’s friend for 33 years, they both attended Ikeja High School, but he was a class ahead of Shonde.
“He has never been violent. I have known him for the past 33 years and I can tell you that he is a gentleman. He was in the same class with my immediate younger brother who has just returned from the United States because of this matter.
“He attended Ikeja High School. I have been in touch with him since the ugly incident and he sent me over 70 messages threatening to commit suicide.
“He told me he had quarrelled with his wife on alleged infidelity. He said his wife confessed she has a man friend in her work place.
“Lekan told me that he caught his wife talking to the man on phone and that she went to Abuja with her lover and they spent five days together.
“As the wife was confessing and begging him, he said he pushed her aside and went into the room to sleep. That he didn’t talk to her nor touch her because he was angry.“Since he usually left the house early (5am) for work every day and returns around 8pm, he said he left that day as usual and that their eight-year-old son was the one who bolted the door, while he used his own key to lock the gate as usual.
“Lekan told me that he never knew anything has happened to his wife until he was called by his landlady on phone. That his landlady told him his wife had died and that he was a suspect. He said his landlady’s daughter also called him.“He was on his way to the house but different people called and told him to run because police were in his house and they were looking for him as the suspect. That was why he fled.
“But as soon as he contacted me that same day, I kept telling him to come out. His aged father also told him to turn himself in and allow the law to run its course,” he said.
Some of the text messages the suspect sent to Nwobi on May 7 read:
“I want to die. Please help me, I can’t face the police or cell. They will kill me.”
Other messages sent to Nwobi, including that of May 9, thanked him for being a true friend.
“Morning Senior Sunday, thanks for everything. I want to go to Alausa. You are the only one that advised me not to kill myself. I will respect you till I die,” he said.
Sholuki, Executive Director, Campaign against Impunity and Domestic Violence, said he came out for Shonde because he believes in him.
He said:
“Even as we were coming to the police command, he has spoken with his mother-in-law to notify her that he has surrendered. The woman told him that he has done very well for her family and that though they were pained, they have forgiven him and he should not think of suicide again.
“He also called his wife’s lover and told him he hoped he was happy now that he has destroyed his home. The man begged for forgiveness.
“When information came to us about what happened, we told him to come out for the law to take its course. We have known him for a long time and he is not a violent person.
“We want justice. We are demanding a medical examination to ascertain what really happened. He is a family man. He cherishes his wife and says very pleasant things about her. All we want is justice. If scientific evidence proves he killed his wife, then, he should go in for it. But what we do not like is his being condemned even before autopsy result comes out.”
Owoseni said autopsy would ascertain the cause of death, adding that the police were yet to interrogate Shonde.
“As you can see, he has just been brought. It is still an allegation and the police are not the court of law to pronounce anyone guilty or otherwise.
“He has turned himself in. I confirm he is in our custody. We will ensure we get to the root of the matter. He shall be interrogated and investigation is ongoing. We cannot say for sure what happened but autopsy report will prove the cause of death,” he said.

Woman Gives Birth To Baby Without An Anus
Ennang Wushikka from Pankshin LGA, Jos, shared the pictures of her baby who was born without an anus.
According to reports, the woman had been delivered of the baby at home. It was however after the delivery that she noticed that her son’s stomach was getting swollen; and after taking him to the hospital, doctors revealed to her that the baby’s anus opening was not there.
Doctors at the state specialist hospital revealed that the case is not new. The medical condition is known as Imperforate anus.
The defect is one which is a congenital condition (present from birth). Those affected usually have no opening to their anus, as it could either be completely absent, or blocked. The anus is the opening to the rectum through which stool leaves the body.
The doctors warned if nothing is done swiftly, the baby might die. A surgery has to be conducted soon to carve out an anus for the little baby for him not to die, they said.

Lagos Police Hunt For Man Who Beat His Wife To Death
The Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for Mr. Lekan Shonde, who allegedly killed his banker-wife, Ronke, in Lagos on Thursday night.
Ronke Shonde, a mother of two, was found dead in their apartment located on Tiemo Close, Off Awori Street, in the Egbeda-Idimu area of Lagos State on Friday morning.
The husband was said to have fled with his wife’s mobile phones after the incident occurred.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos Command, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident on Saturday, adding that the matter had been transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.
She said “marks of violence” were found on Ronke, suggesting that she was murdered in cold blood.
The police spokesperson further said the command had launched a manhunt for the husband of the deceased.
Badmos said, “Yes, I confirm the incident. It was reported on Friday at about 8am by the landlady. She said at about 7am, she heard the screaming of Mrs. Ronke Shonde’s children, who is one of her tenants, as they couldn’t find the key to open their door from inside.
“When the door was forced open from outside, the lifeless body of the victim was found on the floor.
“Police operatives visited the scene and the corpse was removed and deposited at the Isolo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
The police spokesperson explained that the deceased’s husband was at large and could not be reached on his telephone lines, which had been switched off.
“Effort is on to get him. The command will certainly get to the root of the case. The case has been transferred to the homicide section of the SDCI for discreet investigation,” she added.
Some residents of the street on which the couple lived, who spoke to SUNDAY PUNCH when one of our correspondents visited the area on Saturday, lamented that the deceased had been enduring an abusive marriage.
It was gathered that Ronke was the second of three siblings to die within two years.
A neighbour, who has a shop on the street, said Ronke died on Thursday night but the neighbours did not know until Friday morning.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the neighbour said, “It is a very unfortunate incident. The man had serially abused and assaulted his wife until the Thursday attack led to her death.
“He would tie her, beat her and take her mobile phones away. She should have left him long ago.”
The neighbour said the couple lived comfortably, as the wife worked with Guaranty Trust Bank while her husband works at the Apapa depot of Mobil.
The neighbour also said,
“The husband is much older than the wife; the woman was in her 30s while man should be in his 50s.”
The neighbour further said, “Some people heard when she screamed on Thursday night but nobody knew what happened to her until her nanny raised the alarm on Friday morning.
“I was one of those who packed her remains. She had injuries on her head, neck and around her private parts. There were blood stains on the walls, which indicated that she must have struggled with him until he overpowered her.
“She was a light-skinned person but by the time we broke into their apartment, her body was already becoming dark and swollen. A doctor who conducted some tests on her said she must have been killed around 11pm on Thursday.”
According to the neighbour, Ronke’s mother had three children, while her younger brother died about a year ago. He lamented that her death might have been prevented if her brother’s wife, who had been living with them, was home on Thursday night.
When one of our correspondents sought to speak with the couple’s immediate neighbours on Saturday, their residence, which had two buildings one of which was said to be occupied by the landlady, was shut.
Another resident in the area, who also declined to be named in print, said the police had sealed up the couple’s flat, while other occupants of the building had shut the gate to visitors ever since.
“The flat was not just sealed. The police called a welder to weld the doors, which are made of iron to protect the crime scene,” the souce said.
The neighbour added that Ronke’s uncle came to take the children to their grandmother who is based in Kwara State.

Domestic Violence Survivor, Nkiruka Shares Her Story: “I was beaten to the altar on my wedding day…”
Following the tragic death of Ronke Shonde, Ladies are sharing their own experiences.
Below is Nkiruka’s survivor story. She shared the post on Instagram.
“The domestic violent story that led to the death of Ronke Bewaija Shonde today broke my heart and took me back to memory lane. Yes that is my ex husband and I, I was just 19 years on that photo. you can see the innocence in my eyes.
We where perfect , very perfect , outside but we fought inside .
You see that smile on that picture was plastic .
I was beaten to the alter on my wedding day .What happened because I was tired and refused to pack plate .
I swallowed it and matched to the alter .
With tears In my eyes the pastor asked will you take him as your husband for better for worse , till death do you part?? Tears rolled down my eyes but the crowed clapped , screaming tears of joy ??.I embarked on the journey of marriage .
At the age of 19 years I endured like a lion .
This fine young man here is an animal .He beat me up and even beat up my younger once . The day he beat me to coma , he was beating my lifeless body before he was stopped and I was rushed to the hospital .
Do you know what my mother in law told me as I gained consciousness , she said (nkiru, lucky will beat you again o, get ready cause the father beat me too )
I went back in to coma .He begged and I went back home .
This continued until I decided to face reality .
But the truth is , do you know why we women endure domestic violence ???1) financial security . Yes I was scared to leave because I did not know how to begin financially .
2) society .. Yes after bragging to my friends , and society see you as a lucky perfect girl you will want to keep it that way .
3) loneliness … Yes you are scared if u will find someone better . I was saying who will marry me again , with my boobs like this , stretch marks , milk was still coming out of my boobs as of then , my big tommy etc , I was insecure , so I stayed.
Until one day , I woke and took a strong decision to walk away .
And when I left I left with nothing .I left empty handed and embarked of this journey .
I kept repeating my name , Nkiruka , Nkiruka , Nkiruka (my future is bigger ) until I reached my destination .Now I can hit my chest and tell myself I took the right step, even tho I never knew where I was going”

Man Proposes To His Girlfriend In Traffic In Yaba Today
Below is how an eye witness who shared the photos on social media narrated the romantic story.
“We all thought it was a movie or photoshoot (due to the presence of the photographer) when this man went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend! At that moment, the whole traffic stopped. That was when we knew it’s real life.
“Even the policewoman directing traffic had no choice but to watch in amazement. It happened at Agnes junction close to St. Dominic Catholic church/Our Lady’s secondary school in Yaba, Lagos.”
According to reports, the guy had spoken to the traffic warden about his intention before he went ahead so the warden helped him steer away traffic for the minutes it’d take him to pull his “stunt”.
