Jacob Olalekan Ponle, popularly known as Mr Woodberry, has been sentenced to eight years and three months in prison for organizing a multimillion-dollar fraud.
The convict, who is a well-known associate of imprisoned Nigerian fraudster Hushpuppi, was sentenced on July 11 in Chicago by Judge Robert Gettleman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois after being convicted on one count of fraud.
It was gathered that seven other counts were dropped as part of a plea agreement in April. Mr. Woodberry is now expected to surrender to the United States Marshals Service for transfer to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, where his family members, particularly his American fiancée, will be permitted to visit him.
Mr. Woodberry, who will be deported after serving his prison sentence, will pay $8 million in restitution to seven victims. This comes after the court discovered that he is financially capable of making the payment in full, without interest.
Prosecutors, who learned he had 152 bitcoins, asked the court for permission to sell them and a 30-day notice was provided to the public for anyone with a legitimate interest in the assets to register claims, but no one showed up at the time of his sentencing.
He is expected to forfeit his assets in Dubai police custody, including a Rolls-Royce, a Lamborghini Urus, a Mercedes-Benz G-Class AMG G55, four Rolex watches, one Patek Philippe watch, and three Audemars Piguet watches.
Mr. Woodberry will also hand over 3 gold and diamond-studded rings, 5 gold bracelets and 2 gold bracelet keys, 6 gold neck chains, 1 gold and diamond-studded necklace, 1 small gold nugget, 2 bank cards, about $1,835 in Emirati dirhams, and approximately $15.45 in South African rands.
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has granted a full-ride scholarship to Umeh Kamsiyochukwu Precious, the candidate with the best score in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
The gesture comes after JAMB announced Miss Umeh from Anambra State as the highest scorer in the examination, with a total score of 360.
According to a statement released by Soludo’s chief press secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, the governor commended her for making the state proud with her exceptional academic performance.
He also offered her a scholarship to study any course of her choice at the state’s Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
The statement read;
“In further celebration of Miss Umeh’s feat, Governor Soludo has announced a well-deserved scholarship for her to study any course of her choice at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Anambra State.
“The scholarship will not only serve as a token of the state government’s appreciation for her hard work but also provide her with the opportunity to pursue her dreams and contribute to the development of the state in the future.”

A Nigerian pastor, Femi Aribisala, has reacted after his son’s babymama, identified simply as Imoteda, called him out for allegedly being a deadbeat father.
Imoteda had taken to Twitter to express her displeasure in her babydaddy, Femi (Jnr), for allegedly failing to play his fatherly role.
She said this in response to a viral tweet warning single women not to use their babydaddy’s surname on their children’s documents because they will require his approval for everything.
She posted screenshots of her chat with her baby-daddy, in which she begged him to be present in their daughter’s life but he failed to respond.
Just recently on May 8, 2023, she asked for a picture of his passport so their daughter’s visa could be renewed, but he also ignored it.
She wrote,
“PLEASE O! So that you will not be begging one useless deadbeat. Cause money they will not drop, visit the child, they will not visit, respond to WhatsApp they will not respond. But Nigerian immigration will be telling you that you have to bring a useless man’s passport.”
“Anyways, if you know Femi Aribisala please beg him to try and be a father small. And to stop lying that I moved his daughter without his knowledge and I don’t keep him updated. Here I am begging somebody’s father to pretend to be a father. I don beg tire,”she added.

However, Femi (Jnr) failed to react to the allegations and did not say anything for several hours after she called him out. His father, on the other hand, went online to respond to Imoteda in a statement released on Tuesday, July 11.

Eve Tilley-Coulson, a US Attorney who has been single for five years, is offering $5,000 reward to anyone who finds her a husband.
The 35-year-old corporate litigation attorney based in Los Angeles, extended this enticing offer on social media because she is tired of being single.
She revealed in an interview with The Post that she initially made the offer to her close friends, stating that she would pay them $5,000 if they successfully introduced her to her future spouse.
However, she has decided to widen the scope of her offer, making it available to anyone who can help in finding her a husband.
“A while ago, I told my friends I’d pay them $5,000 if they introduce me to my husband,” she said.

According to the fan, she can’t wait to see Beauty and her unborn child.

A nanny has reportedly absconded with a baby boy entrusted to her care in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja.
An Abuja-based businesswoman took to social media to raise alarm about the incident on Monday, July 10.
She said the nanny left the estate with the baby as captured in a CCTV footage and failed to return.
She further disclosed that the mother of the missing child is currently battling cancer.
“Please help find this baby and pray for his safe return. Taken by his nanny from an estate in Gwarimpa Abuja. Please be on the look out and pray. The boy’s mum is battling cancer.. help please,” she wrote.

In other news, a Nigerian man has embarked on a crying challenge in an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest crying marathon by an individual.
The man, identified as Danny Green, started his cry-a-thon on Sunday, July 9, 2023, with the goal of crying continuously for four days.
A video of his attempt, which is currently circulating, shows that he has completed 2 hours out of the 100 hours he plans to cry for.
However, it remains unclear whether Danny had properly registered his attempt with the Guinness World Records before embarking on it. Watch the video here
A 31-year-old lady has narrated how she found and reunited with her biological father after recently discovering that her mother had lied to her about his identity.
The woman, identified as Mashudu on Twitter, shared that in February 2022, she made the shocking revelation that her mother had been deceitful about her real father’s identity for over three decades of her life.
Mashudu revealed that the discovery caused her immense agony and pain. However, she mustered up the courage to uncover her father’s name and took it upon herself to locate and reunite with him.
In December 2022, she successfully tracked him down, and they began communicating over the phone. Finally, in January of the following year, they met in person for the first time since her birth.
She also shared a video she recorded in July 2023, showing her father in the kitchen, diligently doing the dishes.
In her caption, she disclosed that her father was taking care of her and nursing her back to health after she fell ill.

Popular Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has taken to social media to caution women against undergoing liposuction.
The veteran actor gave this advice in a video posted on his Instagram page while recounting the story of a woman who died after being abandoned by her partner due to a liposuction infection.
He revealed that the lady developed a bad infection after going under the knife to enhance her backside and her boyfriend abandoned her because of the terrible stench. Sadly, the woman passed away few days later.
Following the tragedy, he advised women against undergoing butt enlargement surgery to please a man because it’s not worth it.
He also questioned why boyfriends are the ones who always ask their girlfriends to do liposuction, whereas husbands will never ask their wives to undergo surgery.
The 61-year-old actor also rained curses on any man who would make his daughter undergo a ‘bumbum’ enlargement surgery.

Recall that the Guinness World Records issued a statement on its official Twitter page a few days ago, advising anyone seeking to break a record to have it certified by their team beforehand.
“A polite reminder that you should probably have your world record title confirmed by our team before attempting it,” the statement read.
Just recently, a 25-year-old Cameroonian lady, identified as Danny Zara, has caused a significant buzz on social media after she announced plans to break a record for the longest coitus time.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, has seemingly reacted to reports that Yul Edochie’s first wife, May, has filed for divorce.
It was earlier reported that May Edochie and her legal representative allegedly went to court on Monday, July 10, to file a petition to end her 18-year-long marriage to her husband, Yul. (Read here)
May and Yul have been at odds since he publicly announced his marriage to his colleague, Judy Austin, in April 2022, and welcomed a child with her.
At the time, May strongly disagreed with Yul’s decision to enter into a polygamous marriage, emphasizing that no one should be forced to accept it.

Almost a day after she shared the post and the event had ended, Daniel went online to respond to her request and explain why he didn’t honor her meet-up invite.
According to him, he intentionally chose to snub her because he disapproves of her support for the ruling party despite the ENDSARs incident. He also maintained his earlier stance that the movie falls short of expectations.

A Nigerian man has been presented with a brand new truck as a reward for fixing potholes on Abuja roads for 30 years.
The heartwarming story of the 60-year-old man caught the attention of Twitter user @DoubleOGAdoga, and he took to the microblogging platform to share the account.
The tweep disclosed that he has known the man since he was 8-year-old and was deeply moved by his commitment to patching roads in Abuja for free.
According to him, he reached out to the man recently and was deeply heartbroken to discover that the man was suffering and had nothing to his name.
He then initiated a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the man and his family. Fortunately, the story went viral and many Abuja residents attested to seeing the man in their communities.
In an interesting new update, the man has now been rewarded with a brand new truck for his outstanding acts of selflessness and dedication.
@DoubleOGAdoga, who owns a venture capitalist company, also presented a certificate of service to the man.

Apparently, the “Who’s Your Guy” crooner has had a huge crush on the American screen diva and has been trying to get her attention since 2021.
In a screenshot of their chat posted on Instagram by entertainer Tunde Ednut, Spyro is seen expressing his desire to meet Meagan one day in a message he sent her in 2021.
In another recent message, the music star informs Meagan that he has become a big star with the success of his song, “Who’s Your Guy.”

Nigerian singer and member of defunct-music group Plantashun Boiz, Blackface has accused his junior colleague in the music industry, Asake, of stealing his song.
During a recent interview with Naija FM, the ‘Ghetto Child’ singer claimed that Asake sampled his song ‘Ikebe Super’ in his hit song ‘Joha’.
He said he knows he is a huge source of inspiration to younger artistes but they should do due diligence by contacting him first before sampling his song.
According to him, he locks himself up in his room to get inspiration to make music so it doesn’t sit well with him when someone steals his idea.
Blackface, who once called out his colleague 2face Idibia, also accused other artistes including Burna Boy and Wizkid of sampling his song ‘Twist & Turn’ in their collaborative song ‘Ginger’.
He said he is not against them sampling his work in their music project but they should seek permission and properly acknowledge him.
“Young ones dey get inspiration from my music. The first person wey sample my music na Wizkid when he do ‘Baby girl I like the way you whine it.’ When I release these records, dem go find the one wey dem like and dem go turn am to their own,” he said in part.
