A young Nigerian man has caused a huge stir on social media after he donated his only pair of shoes to his church.

In a video making rounds online, the man explained that he couldn’t contribute financially to his church’s project because he is currently incapable, but chose to contribute materially by donating his shoe.

The yet-to-be identified man captured a video of himself walking back home barefooted after donating his shoes during service.

According to him, he filmed a video of his ‘sacrifice’ so he can use it as a point of reference when God blesses him for his contribution to his church project.

He went on to ask netizens what they can do or sow sacrificially to God.

Nigerian comedian, Emmanuel Iwueke popularly known as Craze clown, has recounted his conversation with his friend’s brother who didn’t know what a travel visa is.

Crazeclown, in a post shared via Twitter, disclosed that he was having a chat with his friend’s brother about a travel visa but he had no idea what it was despite having travelled across Europe and North America.

He said the more he tried explaining what a visa is to his friend’s brother, the more he got confused that people needed a ‘sticker’ to travel to another country.

Speaking further, the 31-year-old comedian clarified that his friend and his brother are from Sweden and have never needed a visa to gain entry to any country, unlike Nigerians.

Popular Nollywood actor, Adewale Alebiosu, has refuted the belief that actors are adequately compensated for their roles in films.

This comes after actress Jaiye Kuti’s Instagram video, where she criticized the trend of veteran actors resorting to begging for financial help on social media.

Kuti cautioned her older colleagues against tarnishing the reputation of the Yoruba film industry and accused them of not planning for their future during their younger days.

Responding to Kuti’s comments in a video making the rounds online, Alebiosu asserted that the accusation was unfounded, citing instances where actors are often underpaid.

To support his argument, he shared a personal experience. Alebiosu recounted a time when he was paid a mere N3,000 for 11 scenes in a movie.

According to him, it was just a few days till Christmas, and he had hoped to earn enough to support his family.

He stated that after getting the N3,000, he boarded a bus and cried uncontrollably till he arrived home.

22-year-old man k!lls friend over $3000 ‘yahoo-yahoo’ money in Imo

A 22-year-old man, identified as Obinna Ugochukwu, has been arrested by the Imo State Police command for allegedly stabbing his friend to death.

According to the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Okoye, Ugochukwu was arrested following a case of murder that was reported at the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID).

Parading the suspect before newsmen, Okoye revealed that Command’s Forensic Experts conducted an analysis that led to the arrest of the suspect, who hails from Ikeduru LGA of Imo State.

Okoye said in the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to stabbing his friend Nwachukwu Stanley ‘m, who hails from Umuoma in Ikeduru L.G.A. of Imo State, repeatedly with a sharp knife on the upper part of his body when asleep over a misunderstanding that he failed to give him his cut of 3000 dollars they fraudulently gained in a cyber-crime deal.

The police spokesperson further revealed that the corpse of the victim has been deposited in the morgue, while the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

In other news, three suspected kidnappers have been reportedly struck dead by lightning in Oro Ago, an agrarian community in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that the incident, which occurred three days ago, is believed to be linked to the efforts of a local vigilance group in the Igbomina Kwara axis, focused on addressing security challenges in the area.

It was gathered that the victims of the lightning strike were suspected members of an eight-man kidnapping gang that reportedly operated in Iwo, Osun State, about two weeks ago.

Speaking on the incident, the state police Commissioner, CP Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi, noted that the command has initiated an investigation into the incident.

The CP added that the veracity of the incident would be determined after a thorough investigation had been conducted.

A Nigerian student at Lancaster University, identified as Opeyemi Adedipe, has been found dead in his room.

According to a Twitter user, @IamMaxObesi, who shared the sad news, Adedipe was found lifeless in his flat after he failed to show up for work.

Adedipe, who was pursuing a Data Science Masters degree program at the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University, was engaged in his summer work placement at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology in Oxfordshire at the time of his death.

It was gathered that he showed no sign of illness, and an autopsy will be conducted to uncover the cause of his death.

“Sad News: I have just received the unfortunate news that a Nigerian student studying MSc Data Science at the School of Computing and Communications, Lancaster University, Mr. Opeyemi Adedipe (Emmanuel) died while participating in a summer work placement at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology in Oxfordshire.

“Emma and I spoke not too long ago. He was fine, showed no sign of ailment. He even spoke to friends and family on the eve of his death. There was no sign that he was sick. His body was found lifeless in his flat after he failed to show up for work. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, but preliminary investigation determined there was no foul play and no reason to suspect anyone, at the moment,” the Twitter user wrote.

It was earlier reported that the Zeh Nation boss was involved in a severe accident that wrecked his G-Wagon, but fortunately, he survived.

In a video shared online, the singer recounted the harrowing experience and how he narrowly escaped death. He explained that the accident occurred while he was driving to the studio in heavy rain on Wednesday, July 12.

Nigerian singer, Portable, has reportedly survived a ghastly motor accident with his brand-new G-Wagon.

His g-wagon automobile was severely damaged in the collision, which occurred on Wednesday, July 12.

The distressing state of Portable’s g-wagon was captured in an online video, highlighting the extent of the wreckage.

However, the artist remained upbeat and stated his intention to get another automobile as soon as possible.

He acknowledged that his present automobile was the result of his hard work, and he hoped that his devotion to his craft would allow him to replace the damaged vehicle.

Portable also addressed false claims that occurred following the disaster in the video.

He stated that certain people had falsely accused him of participating in rituals, adding that these accusations were incorrect.

“Hustle wey buy me that one go buy another one. You can’t ruin my life; I buy moto, dem use mouth spoil am. The car didn’t kill, they said I did ritual and it would kill me. Na rain cause am, I was going to studio when I had the accident. No death can kill me, I’ve done jazz, you can’t get me. It happened in Lekki, Osapa London; I will buy house in that place,” he said in part.

Guinness World Records reacts to the surge in record attempts by Nigerians

Guinness World Records has reacted to the increasing number of Nigerians aiming to break new records.

This surge in interest came after 26-year-old Nigerian chef Hilda Baci broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual.

Following her achievement, there has been a notable rise in the number of Nigerians attempting to break records in various categories.

Some have embarked on cooking marathons, singing marathons, and, most recently, a Nigerian man started a cry-a-thon, all in an effort to claim a world record title.

One curious Nigerian, using the New Threads app, recently asked Guinness World Records if it were tired of Nigerians constantly attempting to break different records.

“Aren’t you people tired of my country?… Nigeria, we’re trying to break all records.” The user wrote, to which Guinness World Records replied, “We welcome applications from all over the globe. We can all be friends.”

Popular American actress and Nickelodeon star, Jennette McCurdy has revealed she was showered by her late mother until she turned ’17 or 18′.

The former child actress, who is now 31, claimed that she never showered alone until her late mother, Debra, started battling cancer and passed away at age 56 in 2013.

Speaking on the Louis Theroux Podcast, Jennette disclosed that her mother would stay clothed while ‘shampooing and conditioning’ her hair and ‘washing her body’.

She added that her mother would also examine her breasts and private parts for signs of lumps or infection.

‘She would give me breast and vaginal exams in the shower and said that she was checking for lumps – she was just checking for cancer.’

Jennette described the experience as “uncomfortable,” but said her mother became “hysterical” when she complained about it.

This is not the first time the thespian is making disturbing claims about her mother. In September 2022, she revealed that her mother forced her and her older brothers to shower together until she was 11.

When her brother suggested showering alone, their mother reportedly broke down in tears and said she didn’t want him to ‘grow up’ so he never mentioned it again.

Three suspected kidnappers have been reportedly struck dead by lightning in Oro Ago, an agrarian community in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that the incident, which occurred three days ago, is believed to be linked to the efforts of a local vigilance group in the Igbomina Kwara axis, focused on addressing security challenges in the area.

It was gathered that the victims of the lightning strike were suspected members of an eight-man kidnapping gang that reportedly operated in Iwo, Osun State, about two weeks ago.

Speaking on the incident, the state police Commissioner, CP Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi, noted that the command has initiated an investigation into the incident.

The CP added that the veracity of the incident would be determined after a thorough investigation had been conducted.

In other news, the Osun State Police Command’s anti-cultism section have detained a cow that was reportedly going to be used in an Osogbo celebration of Cultists Day on July 7th.

Residents of Osogbo’s Egbatedo neighborhood gave the police a tip-off after they observed cult members congregating there on Friday for the yearly event.

The suspects left the cow behind as they fled when they saw the cops approaching. The cow was tagged with an axe symbol and had the word “Oroki” written on it. The police confiscated the cow and took it into their possession.

The incident was reported on Saturday by SP Yemisi Opalola, the Osun State Police Command spokeswoman.

“After intelligence revealed plans by a particular cult to celebrate the 7/7 festival. The CP ordered operatives to ensure that the plan by these cultists fail.”

The operatives, working in line with that directive, combed every part of the state and went to Egbatedo, a suburb of Osogbo. When the suspects saw them, they fled but the cow they planned to use for the celebration was seized. We want to assure people of the state that the command will continue to work hard to keep the state very safe,” the PPRO stated.

Confusion in court as victim burst into tears, begs on behalf of convicted offender

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court A mild drama unfolded in Badagry court on Wednesday when the complainant, James Bassey, broke down in tears to beg for leniency for Puis Savoir, a dry cleaner who had been given a one-month term for stealing a pressing iron and N20,000.

Following Savior’s admission of guilt and the presentation of the evidence, Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya found him guilty.

Ikem Uko, the prosecution, stated to the court that the offense was committed on July 6 at around 7:00 p.m. at Yeponnawa Str. Church-Gate, Lagos, by the defendant.

Uko claims that the accused took a pressing iron and N20,000 from the complainant, Mr. Bassey. He said that the offense was against Section 287 of the Lagos Criminal Law from 2015.

The Chief Magistrate ruled that the court would be lenient because this was a first-time offender. As a result, Savior was given a one-month jail term, with seven days spent behind bars and the remaining three weeks spent performing community service at the Morogbo Police Station.

Mr. Bassey sobbed profusely and begged that the offender be pardoned immediately after the sentence was pronounced.

“My Lord, I don’t have a wife or children; it is this convict that always takes care of me. He used to help me do all my domestic work and massage me, but the habit of stealing my things is too much, that is why I reported him when he stole my money and pressing iron. If you sentence him to prison now, nobody will be assisting me, and this could lead to my death,” he said.

Veteran Nollywood actress Cynthia Okereke is dead.

Popular actor and filmmaker Joseph Okechukwu announced her tragic demise in an Instagram post on Wednesday, July 12.

According to him, she passed away on the evening of Tuesday, July 11 at the age of 63.

He revealed that he had planned to pay for Okereke’s flight ticket to America before her untimely death.

Sharing a photo of the veteran actress on his Instagram page, he wrote,

“REST IN PEACE, Nwanyi oma. I am shattered beyond words.
The fact that I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come and finish what we started only to hear you went to be with Lord just last night is one of the toughest things I have had to deal with in recent times.

“I pray I am able to recover from the shock. Life is really just a mist. One minute you have it, the next you don’t. For the more than 20 years that I’ve known you, you’ve been such an amazing, decent and lovely soul to be around. Words fail me. May your gentle soul rest on till we meet again in glory. #CynthiaOkereke.”
