Nigerian actor and politician, Banky W, has spoken on his absence from the recently concluded Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The 9th edition of the AMVCA, which took place at the Eko Hotel on Saturday, May 20, 2023, celebrated talents in the film industry across Africa.

Numerous celebrities attended the event in glamorous and stunning fashion. However, the beloved pair of Banky W and Adesua Etomi, who are known for their stunning red carpet appearances, were noticeably absent.

Days after the event, Banky W shared photos of himself and his wife, Adesua Etomi, dressed in matching khaki outfits on his Instagram page, and expressed how he considers his wife to be his award.

Meanwhile, fast-rising Nollywood actress, Bella Ebinum, has said she is tired of acting in village-themed movies and desires to feature in better roles.

She stated this in reaction to the public outcry that arose after Asaba-based actors, including herself, were snubbed in the recently concluded Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Recall that the organizers of the award show were called out for not recognizing actors based in the Eastern and Southern part of Nigeria, such as Destiny Etiko, Yul Edochie, and Junior Pope, and failing to nominate them in any award category.

Following the outburst, Bella went online to defend AMVCA, stating that they did not recognize Asaba-based actors and producers because of the quality of movies they churn out.

She said they are fond of producing movies with the same recycled storylines, adding that she is fed up of acting in village-themed and witchcraft movies all the time..

Speaking further, Bella encouraged producers to create impactful movies with compelling storylines, as this could potentially lead to recognition in future award ceremonies.

In her words, “Do good movies; every time you people will keep repeating the same stories. I’m tired of acting in village movies; let’s upgrade. When you upgrade, they will recognize you, people. I don’t blame them for not recognizing you; just do good movies.”

“Why it’s better for ladies to marry older men” – OAP Nedu

Popular On Air Personality and podcaster, Nedu, has asserted that it is better for ladies to date and marry older men instead of their peers.

According to him, marrying an older man would provide a lady with peace of mind and greater financial security.

He expressed this viewpoint on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, which he co-hosts alongside Husband Material and Diety Cole.

However, he emphasized that ladies should only consider dating or marrying older men who are wealthy and capable of meeting their financial needs.

“Please, let me encourage you. If you have an older man who is interested in marrying you, who is 45 or 50 while you are still in your twenties, you are an adult. Does he have the means to take care of you? If he does, go ahead.” He said.

Nedu argued that entering into a relationship with a young man could be challenging as he may still be inclined towards youthful exuberance.

He further stated, “It can be a struggle if you choose an older man who lacks financial stability. You would be wasting your time. It’s better to go for a young guy.”

Nedu also encouraged young men who are tired of dating younger women to consider older women, pointing out that many men are already involved with older partners.
