“She bullied me, left all my properties out in the rain” – Lady narrates experience living in a shared apartment with her friend

A young lady has shared the horrible struggle she went through while sharing an apartment with her friend in Yaba, Lagos State.

She claimed that even though she and her friend divided the rent equally, she was treated unfairly in the apartment because her friend located the apartment and she had to balance the payment.

She continued by saying that after getting into a confrontation, things became so terrible that she was forced to vacate the apartment even though she still owed rent for seven more months. Her belongings were dumped out into the rain after she left.

She tweeted;

“December 2022, I decided to rent a space with a mutual and it’s been the most hectic experience of my life. I met Ope may 2022 through a mutual because we were both house hunting and looking to split the rent. The first time we spoke we got along and she seemed very cool. We saw some houses and we went to check them out together but we didn’t get any of those houses.

Fast forward to August/September she reached out to me that her bf was moving out because of studies and his roommates were also moving out so the house would be vacant and he told her to get the place.

The situation around the house was that it was the company that provided the house for the bf and the other housemates because they were employees so the bf spoke to the HR or someone in the company that he’d continue to pay for the house because his gf wants to live there.

So she communicated this to me and when everything was finalized we agreed to pay for the house. It’s a 3 bedroom that was going for 1m naira and we split the fee equally that’s 500k each and we decided to leave the extra room vacant for whatever we decide to do with it.
I sent the money to Ope late November and I moved in February. Ope is a chef and so she decided that she wanted to renovate the kitchen and buy some appliances which she communicated with me but I told her that we should consider decluttered items as I could not afford them new (the cooking gas was like 200k )and she said that wasn’t a problem.

I moved in to see that the kitchen was renovated and everything was available so I asked her if she was okay with me using her things and she said yes but I had to clean it really well as that’s what she uses to
work obvs I understood and I did my very best to always clean the kitchen anytime I cooked.

I realized that the vacant room (the one she paid for) was locked by her and I asked her why and she said that she wasn’t ready to move into her room so she was living in her bf’s former room and locking the “supposed vacant room”.

I let it go because obvs she didn’t have the money to renovate the room and move in so I let it go. She called me one day to complain about the gas cooker and how it was oily after I cooked so I apologized for that and asked her how best I can clean the gas to her satisfaction and i adhered to her rules but I guess she still wasn’t satisfied with the cleaning.

I called her that we should have a conversation about the house, that I wasn’t feeling comfortable in the kitchen because she was always nitpicking on some things that I do and that I felt bad that she knew I was sick but when she saw me the next morning she didn’t ask how I was feeling she just said that I didn’t clean the gas well. We spoke and we came to some sort of agreement about the kitchen and how I was feeling and we cleared the misunderstanding and that was that on the kitchen.

I asked her about the vacant room and she said that she’s not going to open up that room because as for now there won’t be a guest room and she’s aware that there’s some power dynamics going on here but she has to be selfish to herself.

I found that really weird and I told her but she insisted and said that was going to be it. She then said that she doesn’t want me to renew the rent next year because she found the house first and that she’s telling me on time so I can start planning on getting a new apartment.

I found that really weird but I just let it be. She came back to retract her statement about the rent renewal that I should forget about what she said and that I can still renew the rent, she also said that sometime in June she might open up the vacant room( this was in April).

Sometime in May, I forgot to put off the tap in my bathroom because there was no water that morning and I had to rush to work, she called me that the water was wasting. I had a spare key in the living room and I told her to use it to enter the room and lock the tap and she did.

Another time I went out and I felt like she was in the house because I was hearing music from her room so I didn’t inform her before stepping out ( normally we don’t tell each other when we step out we just kind of know). She called me in the evening that the gen was on I was surprised I asked her if it was the neighbor that put on the Gen and that was so weird she said no that she left the house around 9:11 and I confirmed I left 9:30 so I took responsibility for the situation and I apologized that I thought she was in the house.

When I got home she came to my room and said that she was going back on her initial decision about the rent and I was just like okay no problem, On sunday I decided to talk to her about how I felt concerning her decision on the rent renewal.

I called her to the living room and shared that I felt it wasn’t in her place to send me packing next year that we both paid equal rent and we never had an agreement that I wouldn’t renew the rent. I also did not like her mannerism when she was sharing the news

Ope refused and kept saying she found the place that it was her bf’s house and that if I decide to stay next year how will I pay the rent because obviously I was paying to her and she’d pay to her bf who would then pay to the company and the company will pay to the owner.

She pulled me back and that was how the fight started. The story that she and her friends have been narrating that I hit her and I started beating her is all lies, in the middle of the fight she broke a nail and her screen guard cracked but she keeps telling everyone that I broke her phone.

This babe hit me on my chest and I had to struggle my way from under her because she was on top of me hitting me. Can I just say that in the middle of our discussion she called one of her friends and was saying things like “this bosola is crazy” and all sort trying to get her friends involved in something that was supposed to just be a conversation.

Anyways after the fight she barged into my room and seized my room key. I called my boyfriend and he asked if he should call the police and I told him to. At this point Ope was holding my key and had refused to give me back.

I called my mum and told her about what was happening and she decided to call Ope and pacify her. My mum was legit begging this babe to give me my key but she kept refusing.

I got a text from her mum saying this(first frame) and I sent it to my mum. My mum decided to call the number and ask her why she’d send such a text to someone’s child. That’s how Ope’s mum began to insult my mum nonstop.

After that incident she and her friends went on a subbing spree and started even included my mum in all this rubbish, still I didn’t say anything.

After that incident I decided to move out of my space even though I had 7 months more, I packed out on the 27th of may and I demanded for a refund which she said she couldn’t give me because she wasn’t the landlady. I decided to rent out my space and a lot of people showed.
“Interest in the space. Today I took the interested parties to the house to see the space and Ope said she can’t live with a stranger, again she found the house and she will let me know when she’s ready if I can rent out my space lol.

After much back and forth with herself and my mom (she was around today) she decided to pay for the space instead of allowing me to rent it out. No problem I told her she could send the money on Wednesday as I still had things in the room like my dressing table to carry.

She insisted that she wanted to send the money today and I asked her that if she sent the money today would I still be able to come pick my things on Wednesday as I won’t be dropping my key till after I had packed everything. She said no problem and she transferred the money.

Tell me why I got a text from this babe saying she had packed all my remaining things from my room to the compound and I should come and pick it when I’m ready .

All my things were soaked in rain and I had to start coming from Berger to Yaba that evening to pack my things. I cannot begin to explain the amount of bullying Ope and her friends have put me through on Twitter.”

“Medical misogyny is disgusting” – Twitter users slam Ugandan doctor for telling feminists to get pregnant as fibroids love dormant uterus

A Ugandan doctor, Ssrunjogi Emma, has been accused of medical misogyny by netizens for insinuating that women develop fibroid from not using their uterus.

According to him, young women had to get pregnant and not keep their uterus vacant to prevent fibroid.

He wrote;

“As you’re trying to fear men and being an active feminist, don’t forget to get pregnant as Fibroids really really love a dormant uterus. The good thing is that they’re not cancerous but have their own complications including infertility, recurrent miscarriages etc.”

Netizens did not agree with his medical diagnosis and called him out for using his professional knowledge to lead people astray.

“This is medical misogyny, the use of medical means to uphold, assert, or achieve harmful patriarchy norms in order to control and harm women. Because of it women disproportionately experience delayed diagnosis, overprescribing, and a failure to properly investigate symptoms,” one user wrote.

“Medical misogyny is such a disgusting thing to witness in real time because this dickhead could’ve just posted helpful info about Fibroid. but nah it’s what feminists decide to do with their bodies that’s his problem,” another Twitter user wrote.

Lady recounts how she ended a friendship of over 10 years with a guy after he exposed himself in her house

A Nigerian lady identified as Koromone has taken to social media to describe how she ended a friendship that had lasted more than ten years after her male friend exposed himself in her house.

She tweeted;

“I’m not sharing this because I want pity but because I want to raise awareness for young women who have experienced the same and didn’t know what to do. 2 days ago, a close friend came over to listen to my album & at the end, he exposed himself in my house. Trust shattered.

10+ years of friendship down the drain. A complete violate of my living space and our friendship. We’ve never been involved sexually so what was the plan? Was he expecting the gawk hawk 3000? I don’t know. But people it is not okay to expose yourself to your friends. It is not.

I let him leave with his dignity. Before I blocked him on everything, I sent him a message letting him know what he was wrong and whatever friendship we had was done. If a man does not want to respect me or my space, I am happy to let him walk.

If your guy friend ever does this to you, please let him know that he crossed a boundary immediately. Whatever you decide next is up to you, but I will not tolerate it.

If you guys don’t want to respect yourselves or learn self control, you will lose your friends, jobs, and many other things. I’m still processing but I know this will take a long time to forgive.

My house is closed and I won’t be hugging anyone of the opposite sex or allowing them to touch me until further notice. I’m taking my body back. You guys have tried.”

Read her full story below,

“Slide 1 photo was me by this time last year-1st June 2022. I was in the middle of a manic episode that lingered for months. One day, I woke at 3am feeling unsafe and ran vigorously to a nearby motor park. I travelled to Lagos from Asaba like a fugitive.

Loitered the streets/hotels and beaches in Lagos for days. It was a rough blend of schizophrenia, depression, identity crisis and bipolar disorders. Using this “made-up” Identity card of me from one of my imaginary companies; I headed for Ghana by boat. Clad in black jalabia, I kept moving. I passed border after border; terrified & unrecognized.

In that moment, I was a “Drifter”. It was at First bank in Ghana through a lovely bank staff named “Esther” that somehow, I remembered me. I remembered home. Esther was an Angel the universe used to open my eyes to the reality I disconnected from. I began to make my way back home. It took days but I returned, albeit sickly & in denial. One year later, l’m thankful to have survived one of my craziest episodes ever recorded.”

The guy stole enough money to build a house in his state. Now, two things, I’m slightly impressed that he actually invested the money into something that is going to benefit him and his family. For that reason I’m not upset.”

Serial phone thief caught fast asleep in church

Police officers in Osun state have apprehended a reputed serial phone thief, Saheed Abioye alias Anini.

The suspect, who was apprehended by members of the Osun State Police Command’s Anti-Cultism Squad, claimed that he had gone to an Osun state church in the Alekuwudo neighborhood on the day of his arrest with the intention of robbing the worshipers’ phones during their vigil service but had instead fallen asleep.

“I got to the church around 10.45 pm and sat at the back, waiting for the opportunity to steal mobile phones of people who might want to charge at the back of the church. Unfortunately, I was unable to steal anything that fateful day because I slept off as soon as the vigil started and I did not wake up until around 3am. By the time I woke up, the vigil had ended and people were already going home, so I left the church premises. I was unable to steal anything.

When I got to the Alekuwodo area, before Akindeko Market, I saw a police patrol vehicle and some anti-cultism operatives from Dugbe (divisional headquarters, Osogbo). They stopped me and asked what I had on me and I replied that I had my purse and ID card. They searched me and found no incriminating item.

They later took me back to the church to confirm if truly I was coming from there. When they asked the pastor, he said he did not see me in church, so they took me back to Dugbe Police Station. Later, my video was recorded and sent to other stations and some operatives, who had arrested me in the past, identified me as an expert in the theft of phones. I don’t steal cars, motorcycles or any other thing except phones.” he said

He admitted to the police that he had taken and sold more than 18 phones from various locations across the state.

According to the police command, he will be presented in court as soon as possible.

“Men run away when they find out I’m a virgin” – Viral virgin ex-corper

A former corps member, Justina Dauda who recently made headlines after she revealed she completed her National Youth Service (NYSC) program with her virginity intact has opened up on the struggles of keeping her virginity.

The 20-year-old Taraba State University political science graduate stated that her intention was to inspire young girls.

However, she claimed in an interview with The Punch that when she tells men that she is still a virgin, they usually run away from her.

In her words;

“(I call myself virgin corper) because I am a virgin and I made a post about it. People call me the “virgin corper”. Actually, when the graduation list was published before I graduated from the university, seeing my name made me excited because it wasn’t easy for me. I burst into tears. At the age of 19, I was one of the youngest corps members from Taraba State. I got into the university at the age of 15. I was 19 when I arrived at the orientation camp. I lost my father when I was in my first year at the university, so my mum has been trying her best to make sure my needs are catered for. I shed tears when I remember my late dad.

When I was broke, I promised myself not to participate in any immoral act that would make me lose my virginity. It was between me and God, that I will never disgrace my late father. I took my stand and have remained intact till now. No matter the situation, nothing will happen to my virginity.

I faced challenges during my service year. I met people who wanted to date me but sleep with me first. Some people will spoil your name and claim that they slept with you if you resist them, even when they’ve never had a form of intimacy with you.

It takes a lot of discipline to be able to ignore temptations. Some of my friends actually mocked me and told me I won’t come back home as a virgin, why some were waiting to hear bad news about me. I was happy that I finished strong. There is nothing wrong with making the post public in my perception. I want to motivate young girls out there and let them know that keeping one’s self is dignifying. I want to serve as an example to my younger ones; I want people to know keeping one’s virginity is not hard. It requires self-discipline and determination.

It is important to be prayerful, young girls should be content as well; men nowadays want to sleep with you before giving you money. Many young girls now are not content. They want to be seen among big girls. They should also avoid early relationships. The ideal age to start a relationship is 20.

I think virginity is what every woman should be proud of, whether she is a Christian or not. It is so unfortunate that some men don’t value virginity anymore. Some men will tell you they can’t marry a virgin, and that they can’t go through the stress of deflowering a lady. I have met so many men who ran away from me because I told them I am a virgin.”

The two adults were arguing about his choice to break up with her when the little child climbed into the man’s Honda and tried to drive off.

The viral video shows a little child trying to start and move the automobile, but his mother did not chastise him; instead, she supported his actions.

The lady’s ex-lover requested that she correct her son and call him to order, but the woman said that since he made the decision to stop the relationship, he deserves what is happening.

The man was observed yanking the youngster out of the car and reprimanding him, but the lad abused him with derogatory language.

He appealed to the young boy to quit so that he wouldn’t wind up in jail or a juvenile detention facility.

He advised his ex-girlfriend to discipline her son and be a better mother, but she responded that her son is fighting for her because she was a good mother.

“Most of your faves are in debt trying to keep up with your expectations” – BBTitan star, Jenni O

Reality Tv star, Jenni O has noted that many influencers incur debt in an effort to live up to the expectations that the public has of them.

She shared a lengthy note on her Instagram page while discussing the downside of being a public figure.

According to Jenni O, leading a life as an influencer consists of faking everything. People tend to become dissatisfied with what is real and even when their fave posts an unedited photo, it becomes an issue.

She claimed that in an effort to live up to the high expectations their supporters have for them, some influencers have now gone into debt.

She wrote;

“Nigerian Influencing consists of fake a*s life. Everything is so fake. Post a real picture it’s an issue

Can’t dress a certain way outside because you don’t want to appear somehow. Some of your faves are in debt trying to keep up with this high as* expectation you all have put for them.

Nothing is real. It’s only in Lagos I knew you could rent anything to look a certain way.

Being an influencer is being able to influence every day PEOPLE.
I’m annoyed. Everyday people are not doing photoshoots every second, everyday people are not wearing full beats to the gym, everyday people are not overdressing to the grocery store.. I can actually go on and on and on.

Lmao I don’t know what kind of unrealistic expectations you all set
Or are you all not seeing your mates abroad.
For a country that already seems like it’s fictional must the indutry be a fantasy land as well?”

Tems finally receives Grammy Award plaque

Sensational Nigerian singer, Tems has received the plaque for her Grammy.

Her manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi announced this in a post on his Instagram stories on Friday, June 2, 2023.

She got it for her work with Drake on Future’s song “Wait for You,” which took home the prize for Best Rap Melodic Performance.

Muyiwa posted a picture of someone displaying the award.

Although the song was up for the Best Rap Song award, this is the first Grammy she has ever won.

Tems is the second female Nigerian performer to win a Grammy, following Sade Adu. In 1986, Sade received a Grammy for Best New Artist.

A while back, Tems spoke out after she was heavily criticized for her outfit to the 2023 Oscars.

The singer trended on social media on Monday after rocking a flamboyant white dress with a long train and huge shoulder piece that wrapped around her head.

It is evident from videos shared online that those seated behind her struggled to see the stage because her shoulder piece obstructed their view.

This sparked a huge controversy online as some netizens dragged her to filth for her choice of outfit to the star-studded event.

Many tagged her “rude” and “selfish” for blocking the view of others in a bid to make a fashion statement.

Following the backlash she received on the internet, Tems took to her Instagram page to release official photos of her outfit to the event with a dramatic caption.

“Uh Ohh!” she wrote, hinting that she is aware of the drama caused by her outfit.

“I can’t marry a mummy’s boy” – Angela Eguavoen

Nollywood actress, Angela Eguavoen has revealed the reasons she is unable to have a romantic relationship with or even wed a “mummy’s boy”.

Angela noted in an interview with Saturday Beat that while she wants a partner who respects and listens to someone in his family, she wouldn’t marry a mummy’s boy.

“I cannot marry a mummy’s boy. He has to be a man of himself. Of course, I want a man that has someone in his family that he respects and listens to. He has to be someone who keeps to his words, and cannot be easily swayed,” she said.

She also stated that she won’t allow any relatives in her home. She said;

“No family member will live with me and my husband unless she (mother-in-law) is sick and is in need of attention. I am a busy woman and not the type that would sit at home to take care of anybody. I am of the opinion that in-laws living permanently with a newly-wed couple is not good.”

Speaking on fake friendships in Nollywood, the actress noted that she didn’t have many friends in the industry so she could not relate.

In her words;

“I don’t know about them. I do not keep many friends. I have just a few of them and they have all been true to me. I believe friendship should not be a one-sided thing. If we (friends) are benefiting from each other, the person won’t think I am using them.

But, one way or the other, one person will outdo the other at some point. However, that one person is doing better than the other does not mean they cannot do better later.”
