Famous billionaire and Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, has reportedly resumed construction on his $175 million home following his engagement to his girlfriend of five years, Lauren Sánchez.

According to a Daily Mail report on Thursday, May 25, workers are currently working on the roof of the expansive, three-story mega-mansion located in Beverly Hills, California.

Bezos, whose net worth is $138 billion, purchased the 10-acre estate previously owned by former Warner Bros. president Jack Warner in early 2020.

The 28,000-square-foot home features the main house, a guesthouse, a gym, a pergola, and a separate house for security.

Following his engagement to Sanchez, Bezos plans to expand the property with a new pool house, a powder room, and retaining walls.

Bezos proposed to his Emmy Award-winning journalist girlfriend aboard his $500 million superyacht, Koru, while in the South of France for the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

The news comes shortly after the couple were seen kissing and cuddling on board the superyacht over the weekend.

Sanchez, 53, was also spotted wearing an engagement ring with a huge diamond on her finger, confirming her acceptance of Bezos’ proposal.

The couple made their relationship public in January 2019 after Bezos ended his 25-year marriage to MacKenzie Scott, with whom he shares four children.

During that period, Sanchez, the former co-host of Good Day LA, was also going through a divorce from her husband of 13 years, Patrick Whitesell.

Sánchez shares two children with Whitesell and has a son from a previous relationship with former NFL star Tony Gonzalez.

Nigerian singer, Cynthia Morgan has shared an encounter she had with veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie in 2016.

After a video of Pete exchanging pleasantries with revered Yoruba monarch, the Ooni of Ife, surfaced online and garnered reactions, Morgan took to her Instagram page to narrate an incident where she claimed Pete forced her to do something against her tradition.

The video showed Pete Edochie shaking hands with the Ooni of Ife instead of prostrating or bowing down, as is customary in Yoruba culture.

This action by Pete Edochie received criticism on social media, with many considering it disrespectful to the king.

In response, Cynthia Morgan commended Pete for respecting the Igbo tradition during the exchange but accused him of disregarding the traditions and beliefs of other tribes.

She recounted her own experience in 2016 in Okrika, Port Harcourt, where Pete, as a titled man, allegedly forced her to give him an “osiba,” which is against her Benin tradition.

“Osiba” simply means to bend slightly in front of an elder for a pat on the back. It is a sign of respect in Benin.

She said that as a Benin lady, it is considered taboo for her to give a titled Igbo man like Pete Edochie an osiba, but she claimed that he made her do it against her will, thereby disrespecting the Benin tradition.

Cynthia Morgan noted that she hopes that Pete Edochie would learn to respect other people’s traditions as he had respected his own.

“I like the fact that Pete Edochie’s tradition is being respected today, and I hope he learns to respect other peoples’ traditions too moving forward. For example, that Benin women cannot give a common or titled Igbo man an ‘osiba’ for no just reason. Unlike when he forced me to give him an ‘osiba’ in 2016 in Okrika precisely. Cheers,” she wrote.

Popular Nigerian actress, Iyabo Ojo has reacted to a fan who recreated her expensive look at the recently concluded Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

It will be recalled that many Nigerian celebrities attended the ninth edition of the award ceremony on Saturday, May 20, in regal and glamorous outfits.

Iyabo Ojo was one of the celebrities who graced the black carpet at Eko Hotel & Suites, and she did not disappoint with her dress. She wore a striking black dress with red and orange feathers that gave the illusion of flames.

Following the event, a content creator who recreates the outfits of celebrities in a funny and low-budget way, recreated Iyabo Ojo’s outfit, hair, and make-up to create a satirical look.

Popular Nollywood actor, Deyemi Okanlawon has proposed to his wife, Damilola, again after ten years of marriage.

The couple recently celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary and decided to mark the milestone with a simple get-together, surrounded by friends and family.

A highlight of the event was when the actor got down on one knee and asked his wife to marry him all over again.

Deyemi explained that over the years, he has come to truly understand the meaning of marriage and wishes to renew his vows with his wife.

On bended knee, stretching a box of ring to his wife, Deyemi said,

“It’s been 10 beautiful years, and we have two beautiful boys. When I first asked you, ‘Will you marry me?’, I didn’t fully comprehend what it meant. Big Brother Naija star Natacha Akide, better known as Tacha, has reacted after she was called out by her colleague, Ella.

Ella had during a recent Instagram live session seemingly accused Tacha, of being on hard drugs.

According to Ella, Tacha was always dehydrated during the show, and her lips looked dry and chapped, which is often associated with drug use.

She also claimed that Tacha’s jaw was “locking” during the BBNaija ‘Pepper Dem’ reunion show in 2020, a common symptom among heavy drug users. Read here.

This is not the first time Ella has called out a fellow BBNaija star. In April, Ella called out her colleagues, Mercy Eke and Venita.

Ella, who was a housemate on the fourth season of the reality TV show, finally addressed the drama between herself, Mercy, and Venita during the reunion show in 2020 in an Instagram live session on Tuesday night, April 11.

A widow and a mother of four kids has called out her late husband’s relatives for attempting to seize their property.

The widow who appeared in a video pleaded for assistance from the governor of Edo State, the oba of Benin, and other Nigerians claiming that she and her late husband, who lived in Europe for 24 years, were lawfully wed.

She went on to say that her spouse had returned to Nigeria after being given a cancer diagnosis and not improving. However, she believed her husband’s family was planning to have him killed.

“My husband was sick in Europe and was diagnosed with cancer. He was brought to Nigeria to find a cure. When they brought him to Nigeria, I never knew his family had some conspiracy and plans of killing him…,” she narrated.

Promise graduated with a grade point average of 4.08/5.00 from the private Ivy League University in New York City, U.S.

South African ex-contestant of the Big Brother Titans reality show, Thabang Mazibuko has expressed surprise at the unusual food combinations Nigerians eat.

Thabang who has been in Nigeria after the show ended for several weeks with other South African housemates like Tsatsi and Blue Aiva shared his experience in an interview with Hip TV.

He went on to say that he was surprised by the cultural similarities and distinctions between South Africans and Nigerians, emphasizing the rich history of Nigerian culture.

Fast-rising Nigerian rapper, Odumodublvck, has revealed that he turned down a request to perform at the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The rapper, who is known for his hit song ‘Declan Rice’, made this revelation in a now-deleted tweet on the micro-blogging platform, Twitter, on Thursday, May 25.

According to him, the inauguration team contacted him to perform during the inauguration ceremony on May 29, but he rejected the offer.

He added that they should have done proper findings before reaching out to him to perform, suggesting that he is not a supporter of the president-elect.

Popular media personality, VJ Adams has offered advice to teenagers, urging them not to rush into moving out of their parents’ homes.

According to him, the growing trend of teenagers renting their own apartments is not prudent.

VJ Adams emphasized that teenagers who have the privilege of residing in desirable areas such as Ikeja, Gbagada, Ogbudu, or central locations like Yaba and Surulere should seriously consider staying with their parents until their mid- to late-20s.

Precious Chikwendu, ex-beauty queen and the former wife of Femi Fani-Kayode has taken to social media to share her heartfelt sentiments and affection for their children as they turned a year older today.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Precious shared a lengthy message that captured the transformational effect of motherhood and her steadfast devotion to her kids.

She wrote;

Figuring that when one decides to have kids, it is no longer about them completely. A major portion of you is dedicated to the little ones and for them you would cross oceans and climb mountains just to get it right. My darling Ragnar, Adien, and Liam, I choose you every day and will fight for and beside you all my life.

American media personality and socialite, Khloé Kardashian, has admitted that she struggled to connect with her newborn son, whom she had through surrogacy.

Khloe welcomed Tatum, her second child with her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson through surrogacy in July 2022.

In the Season 3 premiere of Hulu’s “The Kardashians” on Thursday, May 25, she revealed that it didn’t fully register that she was having a child until she arrived at the hospital.

The reality star expressed her mixed feelings about the surrogacy process, which she described as transactional, and shared her guilt over another woman giving birth to her child.

“I felt really guilty that this woman just had my baby,” Kardashian confessed in a confessional. “I take the baby and go to another room, and you’re sort of separated. It’s such a transactional experience because it’s not about him.” She said.

She also mentioned feeling shocked throughout the entire surrogacy experience.

“I wish someone had been honest about surrogacy and the differences involved,” she said, clarifying that it’s not a negative thing, she added, “It’s still great, just very different.”

During a conversation with her sister Kim Kardashian, who welcomed two of her four children through surrogacy, and Kourtney Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, Khloé admitted that the process had been challenging for her.

A Ugandan man, Michael Mumuramye, has taken to Twitter to narrate how a woman he dated for six years ended up marrying his friend.

Recalling the incident, Michael said his girlfriend was traveling to Kigali, Rwanda, and needed help with getting a suitable accommodation.

Out of the goodness of his heart, he contacted his friend in Rwanda to help her get a place, but this proved to be a bad decision because his friend fell in love with his girlfriend and they eventually married.

Though he didn’t share details of how his ex-girlfriend ended their relationship, Michael said she and his friend have been married for five years.

“A lady I dated 6 yrs ago had travelled to Kigali. As a concerned BF I called a one of my friends over there to help her get good accommodation. Long story short, they’ve been married for 5 yrs now. Since then, I fear short ladies with big foreheads which look like a solar panel,” he tweeted on Wednesday, May 24.

There was a mild drama at the airport recently when a passenger confronted a cabin crew member, accusing him of stealing his bag of dried meat snack, popularly known as kilishi.

A video circulating on social media captured the moment when an altercation broke out after the passengers arrived at their destination in Lagos.

Upon reaching Lagos, tension heightened as one of the passengers discovered that his cherished bag of kilishi was missing.

According to the passenger, he had boarded the flight with the snack securely in his possession, but it appeared to have vanished during the journey.

He confronted one of the cabin crew members, insisting that he had stolen his bag containing the kilishi.

The crew member, who apparently wasn’t having it, told the man, “Get out of here! You are behaving like a mad person. Where is security?”

Despite the crew member’s response, the infuriated passenger refused to back down, continuously asserting that he had boarded the flight with his snacks.

Police reacts after female officer alleged she was detained for attempting to resign

The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has reacted after a young female officer alleged that she was detained for trying to resign from the force.

The officer, identified as Corporal Fauzziyah Isiak, had earlier taken to social media to lament how the Nigeria Police Force allegedly detained her after she submitted her resignation.

Isiak, who narrated her ordeal on Twitter, said she had worked for the force for six years and that she tendered her resignation last year, but it has not been approved to date.

Recounting how she was detained, the officer said that she was called by the deputy commissioner to “show up” on Wednesday for an interview.

She had thought that the call was to finally approve her resignation but was shocked to hear that she would be detained to be tried and dismissed.

“I never saw this coming. I never thought I would be put in detention without interrogation. All I did was try to resign. I have been trying to resign from the police since last year, but my letters were not approved. My boss had called me to show up yesterday, May 24th, to meet the deputy commissioner for an interview.”

“I thought they were finally going to approve my resignation, but the only words I heard were that I should be detained to be tried and dismissed. Due to the shock, I couldn’t say anything as the officer led me away,” she wrote in part.

However, reacting via his Twitter handle, Hundeyin said Isiak did not follow the laid-down procedure.

The spokesperson further said Isiak, who serves in the office of the Imam of the command, “without leave, permission, or discharge from service, absconded from duty for over a month, in flagrant disregard for the conditions of service she willingly signed to.”

“Setting the record straight,” the police said the detained officer did not follow the laid-down procedure. “It is one thing to submit your resignation. It is another thing for the application to be processed, upon which you receive your discharge certificate,” Hundeyin said.

“Until you get the discharge certificate, you remain a serving member of the Force, bound by all extant rules and regulations of service.

“Absence from duty for twenty-one days without leave or permission automatically results in your being declared a deserter. Every serving member knows this,” he added.

Taking to his official Twitter account on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the presidential candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi, congratulated Ugorji on the remarkable feat.

“I sincerely congratulate Obioma Somtochi Ugorji, the young Nigerian boy who emerged as the best-graduating student of Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, California, USA in 2023. I rejoice with him for achieving this great feat in education,” he wrote.

He then proceeded to teach those present the appropriate response to be used when he chants ‘Igbo Kwenu,’ and they enthusiastically followed his instructions.

“My family is from the Igbo tribe, and in our culture, we have a phrase called ‘Igbo Kwenu.’ It represents the collective strength and unity that the Igbo people share,” he said in part.

A video making rounds online shows the young man painstakingly peeling the husk from 50 coconuts with his teeth. However, it is not clear if he is breaking a record or setting a new record.

This follows the hype around Hilda Bassey, a Nigerian chef who recently cooked for over 100 hours in an attempt to break the world record for the longest cooking time by an individual.

The unidentified man, who seemingly wants to also make a name for himself, went the extra mile to peel 50 coconuts with his teeth.
