Nigerian singer Tems is going to take a break from music after being diagnosed with reflux laryngitis.
In a post the talented singer made on Instagram, it was disclosed that she has postponed her upcoming shows in line with the doctor’s directive.
Reflux laryngitis is an irritation in the back of the throat due to acid or other chemicals that come up from your stomach. This usually happens at night when you’re asleep. Other terms for this problem include gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), acid reflux, and chronic laryngitis.
“It breaks my heart to say this but there’s no other option for me.
I’m not feeling too good at the moment.
After my last performance, I was diagnosed with Reflux laryngtis and I have to take some time off to protect what’s left of my voice.
On the Doctors orders. I have postponed the two shows this week, the Birmingham show on the 15th and the first London show on the 17th.
The new dates for both shows will be announced tomorrow,” her post on Instagram reads.
A 39-year-old Nigerian footballer, Akeem Omolade, was found dead in his car in Italy just days after complaining of pain in his legs.
The emergency services found the former Torino striker unresponsive in a Peugeot in Sicily’s capital Palermo on Monday, June 13.
Although the initial examination showed no obvious external injuries, the family of the deceased said the Kaduna-born player had complained of leg pains days before.
Akeem Omolade represented the Maroons in Serie A, Italy’s top flight, between 2001-2003, making five appearances in total. He also represented 11 other clubs in the country, including Treviso, Novara, and Reggiana, before his retirement in 2017.

In other news, the family and friends of a young Nigerian lady have been thrown into mourning after she was stabbed to death by suspected armed robbers in Anambra state.
The deceased, a 300-level student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) identified as Chiamaka Mabel Okeke, was stabbed during a robbery attack at a Shawarma spot where she had been working due to the ASUU strike on Friday, June 10.
The Vice President of the Faculty of Arts Student Association (FASA), Comrade Chioma Kanu, who confirmed the incident, said Chiamaka succumbed to the injuries she sustained on Saturday, June 11 and has been laid to rest in her hometown in Uruokwe village in Enugwu-Ukwu.
Men of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a secondary school teacher, Benjamin Job, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old student of the school.
It was gathered that Benjamin was apprehended by the Police on Tuesday, June 14, after the victim reported the incident to her mother.
The incident reportedly took place in a private school in Warri, Delta State, called Gavriela Schools.
A source who gave an account of what transpired said,
“Benjamin is an English teacher in Gavriella school here in Warri. He has been sexually harassing her, touching her boobs and all of that. When we found out, we went to report him to the school authority and they promised to sack him, but apparently, they didn’t.
This morning, her mom started perceiving an offensive smell from her and queried her, after much talking and questions she finally opened up and told her mom what happened.
She said the English teacher dragged her to the toilet from the stairs and forced himself on her. We had to go to the school to deal with him before arresting him, he’s currently in the custody of the police.”

A woman has been reported to the Abuja State Police Command for allegedly brutalizing her little nephew over N100.
A video shared online captures the moment the woman was confronted by some concerned residents who saw the bleeding child.
It was gathered that she sent the little boy on an errand and gave him N100 to buy an undisclosed item, however, he misplaced the said amount.
This aggravated the woman who unleased hell on the little boy and reportedly hit a bottle on his head.
An eyewitness claimed the woman was still threatening the child and ignored his bleeding head and only made attempts to take him to a hospital when she was confronted.
Another witness, who seemed to be acquainted with the woman and her nephew, said she constantly maltreats the little child and subjects him to dehumanizing punishments.
The 42-year-old man, identified as Ibrahim Adamu Mohd, was reportedly found dangling from a tree with a rope around his neck on Sunday morning, June 12.
Following investigation, it was discovered that he is from Gayawa village in Ungogo LGA of Kano State and travelled all the way from Kano to Jigawa to end it all.
Nollywood actress, Osas Ighodaro, has dismissed rumours that she’s in a romantic relationship with music icon, Wizkid.
The Nigerian American actress, who made clarification on her relationship with the Grammy award winner on the Off Air show with Gbemi and Toolz, said they are platonic friends.
Reacting to a viral video of her on her date with Wizkid that sparked dating speculations between them, Ighodaro said that contrary to what many people may think, Wizkid has never made any moves on her.

Some unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked the Celestial Church of Christ in Wasimi, Ogun state, and abducted two worshippers.
The gunmen are said to have stormed the Celestial Church of Christ, Oshofa Parish, at Wasimi, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, during a vigil.
The spokesperson of the Ogun state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the attack in a statement, identified the abducted victims as the Assistant Shepherd of the parish, Oluwaseun Ajose, and a Sunday school teacher, Agunro Ayobami.
The Daily Post reported that the pastor of the church, Oluwatomisin Ehuwaojomo, who confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation, revealed that the abductors called him and demanded a ransom of N50 million for the release of the two church workers.
Ehuwaojomo said he was not in the church when the incident happened.
“When my Assistant Shepherd called me almost two hours after they left, the kidnappers refused to speak with me twice. But on his third attempt, they spoke with me and demanded N50 million ransom. I told them that, I am a servant of God, nobody pays me a salary. I have spoken with the Ogun State Commissioner of Police. The command is on the matter.” He said.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user who claimed to be a member of the church claimed that the gunmen, whom he alleged are herdsmen, tortured a pregnant woman but left her behind because she couldn’t walk.
He also shared a video of youths in the community protesting over the attack.
A 17-year-old student, Charity Eze, has been shot dead by yet-to-be identified gunmen in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Charity was said to be an SS3 student of St. Monica Girls Secondary School, Otukpo, and was writing the ongoing West African School Certificate (WASC) Examination before her life was cut short.
It was gathered that she went outside to pack the clothes she hung to dry around 10:30 PM on Friday, June 10, at her father’s house on No. 38 Idikwu Road when she was gunned down.
The gunmen reportedly jumped into the compound through the fence and shot her in the forehead.
Her young sister, Rosemary, reportedly witnessed the agonizing incident and ran back into the house to relay what happened to their father but by the time they returned outside, the gunmen had already fled.
It’s not clear what the motive behind the killing was but the young lady was supposed to write her last paper on Tuesday, June 14th.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, confirming the incident said, “The death of the student is confirmed. It happened on Friday.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti, has shared his thoughts on the kind of people Nigerians regard as good people.
In a social media post, the singer averred that only individuals who give money and do giveaways on a regular basis are considered good in Nigeria, even if they are responsible for the destruction of others.
He explained that this is due to the country’s high poverty rate.

A Federal High Court, Abuja, has convicted and sentenced two co-defendants in a suit filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) against suspended police boss Abba Kyari, to two years imprisonment.
The judge, Emeka Nwite, in a judgment, convicted Chibunna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne on counts 5, 6 and 7 of the drug trafficking charge the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, preferred against them.
Nwite sentenced them to two years imprisonment on each of counts 5, 6 and 7.
Recall that the duo, who were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu while attempting to smuggle cocaine into the country, were on March 7 arraigned before the court alongside DCP Kyari and four other police officers- ACP Sunday J. Ubia, Insp. Simon Agirigba, Insp. John Nuhu, and ASP Bawa James.
Both Umeibe and Ezenwanne had upon their arraignment, pleaded guilty to the drug trafficking charge against them.
Though Justice Nwite initially deferred the case to review the facts of the case against them, the NDLEA notified the court on Tuesday that it had entered into a plea bargain deal with the two defendants through the Director of its Legal Department, Mr. Sunday Joseph.
As a result, Joseph persuaded the court to accept the provisions of the plea bargain agreement as the court’s ruling against the defendants.
Consequently, Justice Nwite, in his judgement, convicted and sentenced the two defendants to two years jail term on each of the three-count charge against them.
The court, which noted that the two defendants were remorseful, held that the sentence would run concurrently, commencing from the date they were arrested.
The court also held that the defendants should forfeit their international passports in accordance with section 30 of the NDLEA Act, Cap M30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.
In line with the plea bargain agreement, the court, approved Umeibe and Ezenwanne to testify as witnesses in the trial of DCP Kyari and the other accused police officers, even as it ordered the NDLEA to ensure their safety in any Correctional Facility of their choice.
It directed the NDLEA to constantly monitor the two defendants to ensure that they do not engage in any drug related criminal activity while serving their jail term.

A man who was left heartbroken and dejected after his girlfriend got married to another man has committed suicide at Kanti quarters in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim’s corpse has been deposited at a morgue in the Kazaure council area.
Although doctors had first verified that she was pregnant, the new mother, who had been married for two years and was trusting God for the fruit of the womb, admitted that she had no idea the baby was developing in her stomach and not in the womb.
She said a couple of weeks into the pregnancy, she started having tummy cramps, so she went to the hospital, where the doctors requested that she have a scan.
At the first scan clinic she visited, she was told that her womb was empty and there was no baby inside. Instead, they said she had multiple fibroids.
Veronica said that, with advice from doctors to go for further tests, she visited about five more hospitals, and they all confirmed that she was actually pregnant. She noted that while she was glad that she was pregnant, she was worried because she was always in pain.

A newly built house that is reported to be owned by a suspected internet fraudster, identified as Ifeanyi Osuji, was set ablaze by angry youths over alleged defilement and mysterious death of a 14-year-old girl, Amarachi Iwunze, in the Umuduruewuewuru, Umuezeala Nsu in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state.
According to reports, the 22-year-old suspect, who is currently now on the run, allegedly raped the teenager to death in his own house.
Sources in the community say that the teenager’s lifeless body was stained with sperm when it was found in the suspect’s room on Sunday, June 12.
A source told PUNCH that the suspect escaped after his mother raised an alarm which attracted residents and indigenes to the scene.
Following the death of the teenager, enraged youths stormed the house of the suspect on Monday morning, June 13, and burnt it down. The Deputy PG of the community, Mr Okechukwu Oguowere claimed the teenager was murdered for ritual purposes.
Mr Oguowere also disclosed that the deceased’s cousin, Uche Iwunze, who took her to the suspect’s house has been apprehended and handed over to the police for interrogation.
He explained that Uche Iwunze is an apprentice to the fleeing suspect, adding that they both conspired to use the girl for money ritual.
The Publicity Secretary of Umuezeala Nsu Youth Organisation, Nathan Onyenehido, who confirmed the incident, stated that the suspect’s mother discovered the victim’s corpse in her son’s room on Sunday.
“Little Amarachi Iwunze from Umuduruewuru, Umuezeala Nsu Autonomous Community in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State was raped to death on Sunday 12th June, 2022 by one Ifeanyi Osuji, a suspected Yahoo plus boy/ ritualist from Agbaghara Nsu Autonomous Community in Ehime Mbano LGA Area of Imo State,” Onyenehido narrated.
“The ugly news came late hours of yesterday when the mother of the suspect unlocked a room and found the dead body of little Amarachi lying lifeless. On raising the alarm, it was discovered that Ifeanyi Osuji, her son, is the suspect and the killer.
“When Ifeanyi Osuji found out that people are now aware of his ugly act, he took to his heels to an unknown destination. Till this very moment, he was wanted. All we are seeking is justice for little Amarachi.”
The victim’s grandfather, Raymond Iwunze, a 79-year-old retired driver, said he was the one taking care of the teenager after her mother’s death.
“Amarachi is my granddaughter. My first son’s daughter. I want the government to give me justice. Her father, my first son, is in Lagos. She had been with me since the death of her mother, my daughter-in-law.” he said.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Micheal Abattam, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation had commenced.

The family and friends of a young Nigerian lady have been thrown into mourning after she was stabbed to death by suspected armed robbers in Anambra state.
The deceased, a 300-level student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) identified as Chiamaka Mabel Okeke, was stabbed during a robbery attack at a Shawarma spot where she had been working due to the ASUU strike on Friday, June 10.
The Vice President of the Faculty of Arts Student Association (FASA), Comrade Chioma Kanu, who confirmed the incident, said Chiamaka succumbed to the injuries she sustained on Saturday, June 11 and has been laid to rest in her hometown in Uruokwe village in Enugwu-Ukwu.
Friends of late Chiamaka have taken to Facebook to mourn her demise.

Police Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has taken to Twitter to tackle Nigerians who are quick to reference advanced countries when having an argument about Nigeria.
He asked such people if they have ever travelled to those countries they are referencing or just relying on hearsay.
According to him, those quick to compare Nigeria with advanced countries and how things are done over there should minimize it and form their opinions on experience because “seeing is believing”.
His tweets read,
“Hmm, people always refer to advanced countries in whatever argument they have, but come to think of it, have you been there? Or you rely on what you read? Seeing is believing, see it, and believe, so that you have first hand info.

A sex worker, identified as Hannah Saliu, was reportedly beaten to death and set ablaze for keeping the Holy Quran in her room in Lagos.
According to reports, Hannah was killed by a client who patronized her service and his friends after they found the Quran underneath her pillow.
They were said to be aggrieved because she kept the Quran in a room where she carries out her sex work with different clients.
A source who gave an account of the incident to Punch said,
“What happened was that the girl was a prostitute and a customer patronised her and after sleeping with her, the customer paid N1,000 for her service.
“But when the customer was leaving, he stole the prostitute’s N5,000 and after discovering that her money had gone missing, the prostitute chased him to ask for her money.
“The Northerners, who were with the customer that the girl accused of stealing her money, asked if she was sure that he stole her money. So, they decided to go and search her room where she attended to her customers.
“While searching the room, they found Quran under her pillow and started asking what she was using the Quran for as a prostitute. So, they started attacking her; they stabbed her, took her out and set her ablaze.
“The incident happened at Alaba Rago, where a lot of Northerners reside. The girl that was killed also came from the North. Their grouse was that she was not supposed to be carrying Quran because of the kind of work she was doing.”
Meanwhile, three suspects have been arrested and charged to court by the Lagos State Police Command in connection to her murder.
Confirming the incident, the Spokeperson of the state police command, said it happened in April and the suspects have been charged to court.
“The case is at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, and three suspects have been charged to court. The incident happened in April.” he said.
A video of a groom brutally beating his bride at their wedding has prompted outrage on social media.
The man is alleged to have become enraged when his bride defeated him in a game during their wedding reception.
The new couple were on stage during their wedding reception, which was held in Uzbekistan, when the toastmaster made them take part in a competition.
The bride won the game, and when the groom realized he had lost, he aggressively whacked her in the back of the head with his hand.
Mystified, the bride put her hand to her head, before she lifted her white wedding dress from the floor and was led off the stage by two other women.
As if nothing had happened, the groom stood on the stage, peering out across the silent throng that had been cheering the pair on seconds before.

Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti, has shared his thoughts on the kind of people Nigerians regard as good people.
In a social media post, the singer averred that only individuals who give money and do giveaways on a regular basis are considered good in Nigeria, even if they are responsible for the destruction of others.
He explained that this is due to the country’s high poverty rate.
According to him, a lot of Nigerians are living in poverty, so they are easily swayed by money.

In other news, journalist and AAC Presidential candidate in the 2023 Presidential election, Omoyele Sowore, has dragged the Labor party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to Sowore, the Labor party has become an orphanage for politicians that are homeless. He added that the Labor party secured a mere 5000 votes during the last election, compared to him who polled a total of 33, 000 votes.
He also added that the Labor Party should not have someone (OBI) who managed 13 months of strike in Anambra State.
