My friend told me I cannot attend her wedding because I could not afford the Asoebi – Nigerian Lady writes.

A bride has reportedly forbade her friend from attending her wedding because she didn’t buy aso ebi, even after she explained that she couldn’t afford it.

According to a Twitter user @g bemmie, who recounted the story on the platform, she had been looking forward to her friend’s wedding for a long time, but now the bride has denied her invitation.

The lady said, after she explained that she couldn’t afford the material due to financial obligations, the bride insisted that her wedding party would adhere strictly to the “No aso ebi, no entry rule”.

According to her, the reason for this rule is that the bride wants uniformity at the event, which she concluded from her conversation with the bride.

“I was really looking forward to attending my friend’s wedding but we move. No aso ebi, no entry. I can’t afford the aso ebi cos I have other budgeted commitments. She said I can’t attend if I don’t buy. Says event planner is in charge.

Well from our chat I guess she has an image of what she wants. I wish I could buy it but it’s out of my budget for now. Na to siddon for house o. At least I would save makeup and spray money. She said it without mincing word. I just don’t want to share our chat.” Her tweet read.

Bandits release female corps member after getting N2m, 5 phones, N100,000 recharge cards and motorbike

A female corps member, Faith Onoriode, who was kidnapped on the Abuja-Kaduna road by bandits, has been released after her family met the conditions set for her release.

The Biology/Microbiology graduate of Delta state Polytechnic, Otefe, Oghara, was kidnapped alongside others on March 21, 2022, while on her way to orientation camp in Jigawa state.

Her brother, Mr Festus Onoriode, who confirmed her release to Vanguard, said she was released on Sunday, May 29 and is currently undergoing medical attention.

Speaking on details of the release, he said the kidnappers demanded for a motorbike, five Tecno phones, airtime and two million naira.

Festus said the abductors gave them specifications of the motorbike and the telephone, and also requested for airtime worth one hundred thousand naira, all of which they received before releasing her.

He claimed they went as far as Lagos state to purchase the bike because it was not sold in Kaduna.

Speaking further, he added that delivering the motorbike to the kidnappers camp was also not easy, adding that the kidnappers advised them to procure service of escort, so they could beat the vigilant eyes of about ten military checkpoints in the Southern Kaduna area of Kaduna state where they were told to drop the bike.

“We paid two million naira, one hundred thousand naira recharge card which they split into fifty thousand naira MTN and fifty thousand naira Airtel that we sent. They also demanded a motor bike and five phones. They gave the specification of the motorcycle and the phone. They said motorbike is not sold in Kaduna, it is in Lagos,” Festus explained.

“We bought the bike and added the five tecno phones. When we told them we were ready with the bike, they advised us to arrange for escort to take it to a spot. And the escort took three hundred thousand naira to do this.

“We used escort to deliver the bike. There are about ten army check points on the road. We waited for sometime before they released my sister. God did it that she was not raped.

“It was God. We went round churches for prayers while my sister was in the custody of the kidnappers. She was released around 6:30 to 7pm last Sunday. It was the lord’s doing. People had paid money and they didn’t see their hostage.

“It was God that released her. We are thanking God for all He did. She is in the hospital in Kaduna. We also thank security agencies in Kaduna for all they did for us. It was not easy raising the ransom. People assisted us. We thank God she came out,”

“I don’t have any choice but to still thank the kidnappers for releasing my sister. When we hear what people pay up north to be released, we are grateful to them for keeping their promise.” He said.

Davido raises

According to him, there is a need for drastic steps to be taken before the naira depreciates further.

He tweeted;

“Dollar heading to 1k. Drastic action is needed,”

A while ago, Davido revealed that contrary to popular notion, the work of an entertainer is not easy.

There is a common belief that the job of a musician is undemanding because they are doing something fun and constantly travelling.

Since music also brings pleasure, it is believed that entertainers are doing a chilling job and living their best lives.

However, Davido has attempted to correct that notion as he revealed that the job is not as easy as it looks.

He also showered accolades on hardworking entertainers worldwide for not giving up on their craft.

The DMW boss tweeted; ”Shout out to all entertainers worldwide Red heart as fun as it looks this out work no easy … ”

10-year-old girl allegedly brutalized by her ‘madam’s husband’ for bed-wetting (video)

A 10-year-old girl who was allegedly trafficked from Enugu to Abuja to work as house help for a couple has been rescued by a Nigerian lawyer.

The lawyer, Mr. Archbong, who identified the minor as Onyebube, testified that she was subjected to physical abuse by her boss’s husband for bedwetting.

According to Mr. Archbong, the incident happened at Range View Estate, News Engineering, in Abuja.

Sharing a video showing the young girl with bruises on her back, the lawyer revealed that the man who subjected the little girl to such torture has been arrested.

“The Success Story of Our Rescue of An Abused 10 Year Old Child. A few days ago I received information that this girl was trafficked and abused by her madam’s husband. He beat and severely injured her because she wet her bed. She is only 10 years old. The challenge was in identifying the incident location and the parties involved in the abuse.

For the last few days I have been working with the fantastic #NPF on this issue. I am glad to say that through my work with the police the location was established, the abusive man identified and he is now in police custody. Pure Evil. Sometimes sharing a video such as this is not enough. You have to act.

We scream domestic violence but see what a woman and her husband can do to a ten year old child because she peed on the bed. This is not their child. She was trafficked from Enugu State to Abuja as a house slave. At ten years of age. By a Christian family. I have made a formal complaint and the Nigeria Police Force are handling the case. They are searching for this child. If you know of her whereabouts let me know. The husband and wife who did this are right now on the run, but they will be caught.”

In other news, a church has reacted after a photo showing two people laying on each other on the church’s altar while a pastor and several church members put out their hands towards them, went viral and sparked outrage online.

According to viral reports, the pair had been trying for a child for ten years without success, and when they sought help from the church, the minister encouraged them to have coitus on the altar in front of the congregation.

The photo sparked controversy, with many people expressing their thoughts about it.

However, reacting, the church located in Brazil said the photo was of two women, not a man and a woman.

They explained that the woman had arrived sick and had fainted during service. So after the preaching, the pastor called the sick woman and told another woman to lie on her as a prophetic act.

The church said getting a female minister to lie on top of the sick woman was based on the Bible passage that saw Prophet Elisha lie on the body of a dead boy while praying to God to bring his spirit back to life.

“You cant evade loneliness by deciding to marry” – Divorced woman who is now single in her 30s says

A woman who married early but is now divorced has advised women to not be swayed by a tweet advising them to get married to avoid becoming old and single.

A Nigerian media personality, Afam, had taken to the micro-blogging platform to advise women about the dangers of moving abroad without being married or having a committed partner.

In a series of Twitter threads, Afam, who remarked that it is difficult for single Nigerian girls to find a husband abroad, recommended individuals seeking to relocate to at least have a serious boyfriend in Nigeria before departing.

He added that while a man can find himself a partner even in his 70s, it is not the same for a woman. He warned that women who are more focused on careers and migration may end up single and lonely despite having so much money.

Reacting, the woman in her 30’s said one cant evade loneliness by deciding to marry.

She noted that being in the wrong marriage is worst than being single.

“As somebody who has been married to the absolute wrong one and is now 30+ and single, i can tell you for FREE that those threads dont touch me at all because i KNOW that the wrong marriage is absolutely WORST than being single.

“I hope that women dont get genuinely pressed by these threads… I’m a love and marriage babe but the real deal CHOOSES you. You cannot evade loneliness by “deciding” to marry. Only marriage to the RIGHT one will deter loneliness and the universe grants you that right fit”. She tweeted.

A Nigerian lady has taken to Twitter to narrate the unusual manner in which her ex-boyfriend gave her hints so she could call off their relationship.

According to the Twitter user @TheNnma, her now-ex-lover had to end the relationship himself after more than a year of dating because she didn’t get the hints.

“Nigerian men’s definition of a strong woman is long suffering, emotional abuse and a high tolerance of accepting bad behavior” – Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa

Popular media personality, Toke Makinwa has asserted that Nigerian men define a strong woman by the amount of abuse and maltreatment she can endure.

The seasoned TV host and Youtuber said this in a post she shared on her Twitter page on Tuesday, May 31.

According to her, the Nigerian society also encourages this ideology and believe strong woman should be long suffering and tolerate their partner’s bad behaviour.

Read her full post below,

“Nigerian men’s definition of a strong woman is long suffering, emotional abuse and a high tolerance of accepting bad behavior. You’ll hear them say “she turned the boy in me into a man”, that means her name is endurance, the woman has endured 😂😂😂.

Society encourages that sort of narrative, women are seen as strong by the amount of BS she’s has to endure till the man was ready to give her peace. When they meet the women who stand up for themselves? Society labels them as wayward and too opinionated. Who is Society again?

They automatically think being alone at a certain age means you are miserable 😂😂😂😂. Would you not rather be 55 and alone than enduring BS with someone? If that’s the definition of miserable, a beg which one will you rather be?”

“I am still Shuddering and shivering. I am very dumbfounded and traumatized. Please watch this is a …………. minutes footage of @ndlea_nigeria jumping through my fence with no bidding from me or any warrant.

My little niece who saw them jumping through my gate called on my attention before I could even comprehend what was happening they had gained entrance into my kitchen , sitting room and was heading upstairs , I was in shock. I have a baby in my home. My little niece is still startled and In complete shock too.

They finally meet with me on my staircase inside my house and said it’s a mere mistake , they saw a man running who jumped into my compound. I kindly asked them to leave my home which they concurred too. I am very devastated. This is definitely not fair. I didnt deserve this unnecessary threat from you @ndlea_nigeria

I watch videos of how you (NDLEA) abuse the power bestowed on you by Nigerians , your men look nothing like law enforcement agents , they have no regards and respect for people . How do you even enter someone’s house without permission or someone to witness your activities within my space . I hope nothing was planted in my house by these lawless humans in your NDLEA monkey jacket. Enough said , I will definitely be in contact with your agency through the right medium . @ndlea_nigeria @nigeriapoliceforce”. She wrote.
