“It’s so unfortunate that a lot of people view marriage as bondage” – Media personality, Stephanie Coker

Media personality Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun, has addressed one of the common misunderstandings about marriage.

In a post she shared on her insta-stories, the actress said there’s a need for a lot of relearning as the majority of people view marriage as a bondage.

“Its so unfortunate that a lot of people view marriage as bondage. A lot of work needs to be done”. She wrote.

Meanwhile, veteran Nollywood actress, Shan George has taken to her social media page to share her opinion on why married couples divorce easily.

In a post shared on her IG story, the thespian opined that marriages end because men and women haven’t come to the realization that they nag and quarrel with each other out of love.

According to her, until both husband and wives realize that their fights and quarrels are done out of love, marriages will continue crashing.

She wrote on Tuesday, April 26,

“Until men begin to realise that women nag bcos of love, and women begin to realise that men quarrel and shout at their wives bcos of love, marriages will continue to break as easily as clay plates.”

A while ago, Shan George made a case for ‘Babymamas’ all over the world.

According to Shan, there is no such thing as a single mother, rather it is society that brings up words to make people feel small about themselves

No woman is a single mother. There’s mother and there’s father. Simple. Society is always looking for words to use for people to feel small and inadequate about themselves.

“My pride was hurt” – Isilomo speaks on being first to be evicted from BBNaija 2019

Isilomo speaks

Reality TV star, Isilomo Braimoh has opened up on how her pride and ego affected her negatively after she was evicted from BBNaija 2019.

Taking to her Instagram page, Isilomo said she was so sure that she would have been among the Top 4 housemates if she wasn’t the first to be evicted, and her pride was hurt.

She added that her ego stopped her from leaving Lagos at the time even though she knew things were not working well for her, and she was dying on the inside.

Isilomo speaks

Isilomo who eventually relocated to Abuja to pursue a better life, stated that ego complicates things and advised people not to put pressure on themselves.

Her words,

“Throw back but make it story time 👇🏽.

I remember these or this period to be a time when I took the most beautiful photos of my life , the good old days of being a pseudo celebrity (😂😂).

The truth ? I was dieing, why ? EGO dears . I was so sure that if they didn’t take me out I would have been in the top 4 (who told me that 🤣) , my pride was hurt because I also had to be the first to leave . EGO because isi could afford 12k manicure and still have money for a decent and may be even a Lux meal on the same day and won’t feel it , the same isi was now doing 1 kobo 2 kobo …for like six months (OMO 🤣)

EGO made me stay in Lagos when I knew it was not working for me, I could have been in Abuja and accessed all my blessings much sooner .

EGO is the thing that complicates most of our lives , it’s a pressure you put on yourself , it doesn’t allow you live in the moment , it won’t allow you be present and that’s where you miss it.

I learned (the hard way ) just how much of my ego was me and how so much of my confidence was attached to it . Needless to say I’m still a very very very proud person but now I have no EGO and my life is so much better for it.”

“I was so ashamed of my beard” – Woman says she has finally accepted her beard after years of hiding it

34-year-old Gennevieve Vaillancourt from Ontario, Canada, has spoken out about her struggle with accepting her facial hair.

Vaillancourt says she spent years desperately trying to hide her facial hair, but she’s now decided to let her beard grow and feels more confident than she has in the past.

According to her, she started growing hair around her chin and upper lip from the age of 16, and was later diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, which caused the excessive facial hair growth.

She says she had to shave every day, but on the second day after shaving the hair was already growing back.

“I was so ashamed of my beard. I was bullied through school because of it and kids would tell me to shave or asked if I knew how to. When I received my PCOS diagnosis, I felt relieved to have something to research and to know there was a reason why these things were happening to me.” She said.

Speaking further, she said,

“I also felt the loss of hope at the thought of not being able to be a mum in the future because it is one of the top causes of infertility in women Another symptom was weight gain and of course, the growth of facial hair. PCOS made me want to hide and I felt robbed of my femininity.”

The mother of one said it was after the birth of her son, Duncan, who is now three years old, that she decided to embrace her look, to be an example to him about self-love. She revealed that she began to experiment with letting her facial hair grow during the pandemic.

“I wanted to lead by example… I couldn’t teach him to love every part of himself if I wasn’t doing the same.” she said.

She began to share photos of her beard online, which helped her confidence to grow, until she was finally inspired to go out in the world as a bearded woman by an interaction with her family.

In her words,

“As soon as my facial hair started to grow when I was 16, I knew that it would eventually become a full beard and I knew that I wanted to get to a place where I was brave enough to grow it out and wear it in public ‘I just needed to learn some tools to be able to do that. The main turning point for me was when I ran into one of my aunts while I was waiting in the car outside of the supermarket.

“I hadn’t shaved in probably about three days and I gave her a warning that I had my beard and she told my uncle not to come over because he “didn’t need to see this”. I saw my aunt’s shame, but it also made me realise that I deserve to be seen! This really fueled me to take the leap to be seen. I have been growing my beard out since September 2021.I have been able to accept myself for who I am and can walk around in public with my beard with confidence

“Surprisingly, since fully growing out my beard I haven’t faced any backlash or bullying. It’s obvious that I am a woman, so I could see the confusion on people’s faces. I was watching them go through a whole process of trying to understand. All of the positive experiences I have had since showing off my beard have spurred me on to keep going.

I feel more confident than I have ever felt with my beard. When I wasn’t able to be my true self and I was hiding away, I was filled with so much anxiety. Showing off my beard has been liberating.”

Pastor Ibiyeomie

The presiding pastor of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has averred that any accountant or architect that doesn’t have a job lacks integrity.

 Pastor Ibiyeomie

Preaching during a recent church service, the popular clergyman stated that any accountant or architect who doesn’t have a job is not being attacked by the devil, but it’s because they lack integrity.

According to him, there is a wide array of jobs available for the taking and if those professionals can’t secure one, then it’s because their integrity is questionable.

He added that integrity is the most important qualification for accountants, not ICAN.

His words,

“Any builder not getting jobs is not the devil. It is integrity that is your problem. All architects, all builders, civil engineers, if you are not getting jobs..there are too many jobs. It is not because there is no jobs, You lack integrity.

You are so good…anybody that is good and is not getting jobs…any accountant that is not employed lacks integrity. The first qualification of an accountant is integrity. The second qualification is integrity, the third is integrity. Not ICAN. An accountant’s qualification is not ICAN. ICAN without integrity, you are in the CAN.”

It was gathered that the deceased, a mother of six, had lodged a complaint against her husband at the Human Rights Defenders (HURIDE) office in Ebonyi State on Tuesday, April 19.

HURIDE chairman, Sampson Oko Nweke, in a statement, confirmed that Anulika had brought a complaint to their office against her husband over alleged incessant cases of battery and other instances of domestic violations.

He said, unfortunately, he received news of her passing on Tuesday, April 26, a day after they spoke on the phone.

Meanwhile, the accused, who is currently in police custody claims that she died after drinking some herbicide, but he does not know who gave it to her.

JUSTICE FOR MRS ANULIKA: A FRESH VICTIM OF ABUSIVE MARRIAGE IN EBONYI STATE
This woman lying dead here is Mrs Anulika Uguru, a mother of six boys. She is from Ndiechi Onuebonyi Igbeagu, married to Mr Sunday Uguru (a.k.a Starger) of Ekeru Inyimagu community, all in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State.

A week ago, just on 19th of this April 2022, this woman brought a complaint to our office against her husband over incessant cases of battery and other instances of domestic violations. Regrettably, there was this delay in serving the husband an invitation notice because according to the wife, he is an inter-state transporter with no valid phone number.

Yesterday, 25th April 2022, I spoke with the woman on phone and asked her to come to my office today (26th April) by 12noon. As I waited till 12:30pm today without seeing her, I dialed her number but was picked up by a child, presumably her child.

The child handed the phone to another woman who then told me that the owner of the phone I was calling is dead. She directed us to one village clinic at Sharon junction where I saw the motionless body of Mrs Anulika. We went in company of a member of GBV Taskforce in Ebonyi State , Comrade Matthias Okinya.

The sight of the dead woman filled my heart with uncontrollable rage and resentment, I phoned the police immediately and a detachment of a Police team came but the husband was no where to be found. We launch a serious search for him with the assistance of concerned villagers and later got him apprehended. He is currently in police detention. He claims Anulika drank some herbicide but does not know who gave it to her.

He must explain what happened to this beautiful young woman cut in her prime. She spoke with me yesterday; spoke with her son around 9am today and died before 1pm. Mrs Anulika must get justice.

“Strangers have advised me to kill my son” – Singer Jodie speaks about the challenges of raising a special-needs child in Nigeria

Nigerian singer Jodie has opened up about the challenges of raising a child with special needs in Nigeria.

The Kuchi Kuchi star, whose 6-year-old son Chinua has cerebral palsy, stated in a heartfelt post that her son’s condition was caused by the hospital where she gave birth to him.

According to the mother of one, who disclosed how her son’s condition has affected her finances, many have advised her to kill the little boy. Jodie noted that she’s had to do all sorts of jobs to provide for her child, but the high cost of child care absorbs all of her earnings.

“My finances have been swallowed. My friends have abandoned me because I’m a beggar. My debts are new every morning.” She said.

Jodie said that just like her, other special-needs parents have suffered alone for too long because they have been ashamed of the stigmatization.

She urged the government, non-governmental organizations, and other authorities to create a “permanent solution” for special needs children’s care so that parents do not have to go bankrupt to care for their children.

“My head is heavy. My eyes hurt, because I cry every night. Don’t wait for singer of Kuchi Kuchi to die first before you do a memorial service while her child is left to suffer. Do not spend a dime when I’m dead. Do all you can about it now while I’m alive. I beg you Nigerians.” She added.

Jodie, whose full name is Joy Eseoghene Odiete, married actor David Nnaji, Chinua’s father, in October 2015, but the marriage ended shortly after Chinua was born.

“Why I was banned from entering the US” – Bovi reveals

Ace Nigerian comedian, Abovi Ugboma, popularly known by his stage name, Bovi, has revealed that he has been barred from visiting the United States.

The comic star made this revelation on Tuesday, April 27, during a question and answer session with his fans on his Instagram stories.

Bovi revealed he had been banned while replying to a fan who asked when he’d be coming to Massachusetts to perform.

In response, Bovi explained that he was banned from the United states after he clashed with a visa-issuing officer and got labelled.

His words, “Ill luck. Met a charity-like visa-issuing officer. Egos clashed. I was labelled.”

When another follower asked if he had plans to relocate abroad, he said, “I am a citizen of the world. Except for Yankee where I’m banned.”

A while ago, Bovi took to his Instagram page to narrate the experience he faced while trying to check into a London Hotel.

The Hotel staff had insisted he presented the cards he used to book the hotel in a seemingly updated security measure that could inadvertently been as a result of the recent #TinderSwindler documentary.

Bovi however did not make the booking himself as it was done by his wife who is back in Nigeria, but the staff didn’t want to hear any explanation.

It was however resolved amicably after he asked them to do a quick google search about his name.

In his words ;

“Simon Leviev done spoil everywhere o. Tryna check into hotel in London and they insist I present the card that was used for the booking. I tell them it was done for me by my wife and she is in Naij. That made it worse. They think I’m stealing. Then to crown am, my own card dey decline. For the first time in my life, I said the words “Google me”.
