Ondo lawmaker escapes assassination attempt
Hon. Olugbenga Omole, a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, has escaped an alleged assassination attempt on his life.
It was gathered that unknown gunmen attacked the lawmaker, who is representing Akoko Southwest Constituency 1, on Thursday night March 31, in Akure, the state capital.
Confirming the incident to newsmen in Akure, the lawmaker said the gunmen fired multiple shots at his car.
In other news, Two men have been arrested by men of the Bauchi State Police Command for killing a 20-year-old okada rider, identified as Auwalu Gidado, and stealing his motorcycle.
According to the spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the suspects, Nura Ibrahim and Auwalu Manu, brutally slaughtered the victim and made away with his motorcycle valued at N330,000 and sold it at the paltry sum of N90,000.
The PPRO in a statement said,
“On 23/03/2022 intelligence report at the disposal of the Command revealed that one Nura Ibrahim and Auwalu Manu of Walakero village, Futuk ward Alkaleri L.G.A criminally conspired among them and lured one Auwalu Gidado aged 20yrs of the same address who happens to be a commercial motorcycle rider AKA (Achaba) from Walakero village to Balande village, of Alkaleri LGA.

Evang. Gospel, the General Overseer of Shekinah Arena Gospel ministry Mgbuoba NTA Port-Harcourt, had noticed the frustration and stress his church member simply identified as Mr Benjamin, was going through with his old rickety car and decided to replace it with a new one.
It was gathered that Mr Benjamin’s car once refused to start after choir rehearsal, and the clergyman was among those who helped him push it before it eventually started.
After this incident, the clergyman paid his church member a surprise visit and gifted him a Toyota CR-V so he could stop using his old car.

The bride, Dami, took to the platform to share pictures from their unconventional civil wedding.
In the photos, she donned an all-black dress with panty hose and a veil, while her groom wore a white shirt and white pants and sported cornrows.
According to the bride, she picked the dress from her wardrobe and did her makeup by herself, and it took her less than 10 minutes to prepare.

The man noted that his thoughtful wife saw the need for him to change his wardrobe, so she contracted a tailor to sew new sets of native attire for him.
To his surprise, when the clothes were ready, he realized his wife had only paid half of the bill and requested that he pays the balance.
Meanwhile, she presented the clothes to him as a gift, despite having to pay for it.

Two men kill Okada rider in Bauchi, steal his motorcycle valued at N330,000 and sold it for N90k

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to killing the victim and selling his motorcycle at Talasse village Gombe State, at the rate of N90,000 and shared it among themselves.
Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing after which the suspects will be charged to court.

Man loses his entire ‘$500,000’ savings in cryptocurrency after Trader died with password
A man has narrated how he lost all of his life savings after investing the entire amount with a cryptocurrency trader who died in 2018.
The man identified as Tong Zuo, recounted how he invested the money with a company called Quadriga CX, and trusted the founder and CEO, Gerald William Cotten, with the funds as he had password to all his clients’ accounts.
According to reports, 76,000 people invested an estimated total of $250 million with Gerald before he passed away, causing all of them to lose their monies.
Narrating his story, Zuo said most of his money came from his parents and he invested it in cryptocurrencies to avoid paying bank charges when he moved from the US to Canada.
Meanwhile, the Canadian-based company which is no longer operational, claims they can’t pay people their monies because they have a legal matter with a bank.
“I kept asking them: Where’s my money? – October, November, December – during all that time. They kept saying it was the lawsuit. I couldn’t get any sleep. I just prayed. I really prayed it wasn’t a scam. At that time, there was nothing I could do. There was no way of getting my money back. Once I deposited it, it was basically gone,” Zuo added.
Cotten’s wife, Jennifer, claims he planned to give her access to the password in the event of his death but he never did.
Zuo’s sad story and others has been featured in a Netflix documentary “Trust No One: The Hunt For The Crypto King.”

Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Debo Adebayo better known as Mr Macaroni, has shared a death threat he received after he objected to the resumption of tolling at the Lekki Toll Gate.
The Lekki Concession Company (LCC) had announced plans to resume toll collection at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge toll plaza from today, April 2.
However, a number of people objected to the plan on grounds of the hardship in the country and the shooting of October 20, 2020, during the End SARS protest.
Mr Macaroni also frowned at the idea and disclosed that a meeting was held to discuss the matter and there was a unanimous decision that the Toll Gate shouldn’t be reopened.
Shortly after sharing this, Mr Macaroni took to Twitter to disclose that he has been receiving death threats from people, and shared a screenshot of one he received.

N2b Investment Fraud: Court orders interim confiscation of properties worth over N150m belonging to 21-year-old Dominic Ngene
Hon. Justice D.E. Osiagor of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted an Order of Interim Forfeiture of fourteen landed properties belonging to embattled M.D/CEO of Brisk Capital Limited, Mr. Dominic Ngene Joshua.
The police say that Joshua has diverted ₦2 billion from over 500 investors. He has spent some of that money on “parties, exotic cars, luxury watches, real estate in Abuja, Lagos and Port-Harcourt,” according to a statement from the special fraud unit on Monday.
SP Eyitayo Johnson, who is the Public Relations Officer of the Police Special Fraud Unit, in a statement on Thursday, March 31, said the Order followed an application on Motion Ex-Parte filed by the (PSFU) in December 2021 pending the determination of criminal charges proffered against Dominic Joshua by the Unit in Charge No. FHC/L/223C/2021.
The properties, spread across Lagos (Parkview Estate), Rivers and Cross-River States were worth over One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N150,000,000.00). These are covered by Deed of Lease, Contract of Sale and other Title Deeds.
According to the police, Joshua lured victims on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as via newspaper publications where he claimed to be a financial investor of repute that manage funds for individuals and companies.
“Misleading and calculated attempt to cover up his act of cowardice” – Nigerian Army reacts to viral video of soldier ‘abandoned’ by colleagues during in the forest
A Nigerian Soldier recently went viral on social media after he made a video where he cried out that he’d been abandoned by his colleagues and he also called on God to save him.
The Nigerian Army has reacted to a viral video by the soldier purportedly abandoned by his colleagues during operations and the soldier’s action was described as “misleading, diversionary, a calculated attempt to whip-up public sentiment and cover up his act of cowardice.”
According to the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, it was the soldier who abandoned his colleagues and absconded in a display of outright cowardice during an ongoing clearance operation in Gurara, Niger State.

“The attention of the Nigerian Army(NA) has been drawn to a viral video making the rounds on the social media, where a soldier on Wednesday, 30 March 2022 claimed to have been abandoned by his colleagues during operations,” the statement read.
“Contrary to the claims and impression created by the soldier in the video footage, preliminary investigations have revealed that the video footage was a deliberate attempt to shield himself from being accused of cowardice, having abandoned his colleagues during an ongoing clearance operation in Gurara, Niger State.
“It could be recalled that troops of the NA, recently carried out a clearance operation in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State. Disappointingly, during an encounter, the said soldier abandoned his colleagues and absconded in an outright display of cowardice and possible sabotage, which negate the precepts of the military profession.
“Sensing the gravity of his action and its consequences, the soldier surreptitiously uploaded the video online in a calculated attempt to whip-up public sentiment and cover up his act of cowardice.
“The soldier’s action amounts to a betrayal of the esprit de corps and comradery that are synomous with a military unit and fighting formation, particularly during operations. The soldier’s conduct is therefore an aberration and against the ethics and core values of the military profession.
“The video footage is thus, in all intent, and purpose a misrepresentation of what actually transpired between the soldier and his colleagues.
“The soldier has rejoined his unit and further investigations are currently ongoing to unravel the reasons behind his unprofessional conduct.”
Minister of Transport denies asking Nigerians to contribute money for treatment of victims
The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, has denied media reports claiming he said Nigerians should contribute money for the treatment of victims of the Monday, March 28, train attack.
On Thursday, news made the rounds that the Minister on Wednesday asked Nigerians to contribute money for the injured victims. The Minstry has however come out to clarify the statement.
The Statement which was signed by the Director, Press and PR for the Ministry reads;
The Ministry of Transportation’s attention has been drawn to the story carried by the print media and other online platforms quoting the Minister of Transportation , Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as asking “Nigerian people to liaise with the hospital management and see how much they can contribute to the treatment of the patients” is false and a terrible misrepresentation.
On the contrary, what the Minister said and we have it on record is: “I have said to the Nigerian Railway Corporation to liase with the hospital management and see how much they can contribute for the treatment of patients”.
In light of the above, we urge the public to disregard these publications as it is not a representation of what the Minister said when he went to commiserate witht he bomb blast victims at 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital and St. Gerald’s Catholic Hospital, both in Kaduna on March 30, 2022.
Yahoo Boy posing as ‘Tom Cruise’ convicted in Lagos
Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of an internet fraudster, Etegene Japheth, to six months imprisonment before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offence court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Japheth aka Mr. Tim Graw and Tom Cruise was arraigned on a one count amended charge bordering on possession of documents containing false pretence.
Japheth on or about the 16th day of February 2022 in Lagos, had in his possession several documents containing false pretences, one of which is a record of his conversation with several unsuspecting victims via his email address: [email protected], wherein he represented himself as Mr. Tim Graw and Tom Cruise in order to obtain gift cards and money from them.
He pleaded “guilty” to the charge when it was read to him.
In view of his plea, the prosecuting counsel, Blessing John, reviewed the facts of the case and tendered in evidence the statement of the defendant as well as the bundle of fraudulent documents printed out from the iPhone 12 recovered from him.
He was, thereafter, sentenced to six months imprisonment, with an option of N200,000 fine.
The convict was ordered to also forfeit all items recovered from him to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Video of former NNPC GMD, Andrew Yakubu, crying after court cleared him of money laundering charges
A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, discharged and acquitted the former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Andrew Yakubu, of the money laundering charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), acting on a tip-off in 2017, stormed Mr Yakubu’s residence at the Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna State and found $9,772, 800 and £74,000 in a safe.

Man shares message he received from a debtor who gave him conditions if he wants his money back
A Nigerian man has shared a screenshot of the message he received from a debtor who gave him conditions if he wants him to pay the money he borrowed from him.
Taking to Twitter, @senibobo disclosed that the debtor borrowed N750k from him in June 2021 and promised to pay back in one month, but has only paid N300k .
From the message he shared, the debtor is demanding that he draft an agreement containing his plan for repayment and if he fails to do so, he should forget about his money.
He shared the screenshot and the debit alert he received after sending the money to the debtor and wrote,
“You see why people never help! I borrowed this guy 750k since June 2021. Money he asked me to borrow him for a month, he defaulted & after 3 months he paid 300k. The remaining 450k, till now he hasn’t paid. See what the person sent me this morning. I should draft a letter. Lmao.”

Nigerian singer and song-writer, Yemi Alade has explained how she would tell a man she had sex with that he wasn’t good in bed.
Speaking on a sex and relationship podcast called “Aylipservice”, the self-acclaimed Mama Africa averred that it is extremely devastating when a man is heavily endowed in the groin region but doesn’t know how to use it on a woman.
When asked about her experience and how she would tell a man that his bedmatics skill is below par, the singer said she would have a conversation with him, asking that they try out another sex position instead of the previous one she didn’t enjoy.
She however noted that this approach might not work because Nigerian men would assume that she has slept with other men, hence why she wants him to try out new sex positions.
The 33-year-old singer added that Nigerian men are very egoistic and telling them that they are not good in bed might bruise their ego.

Nigerian lady apologises to ex-boyfriend for falsely accusing him of domestic violence and ruining his reputation
A Nigerian lady has taken to the micro-blogging platform, Twitter to tender a public apology to her ex-boyfriend weeks after accusing him of domestic violence.
A while ago, the lady identified as @Adura_x on Twitter took to social media to accuse her now estranged lover, @Dondekojo, of assaulting her.
She claimed he physically assaulted her during a quarrel after confronting him for allegedly cheating on her with another lady on Twitter. Adura said he tore her shirt and in self defense, she picked up a knife.
The man had proclaimed his innocence at the time, claiming that he had put a CCTV camera in his room, and the footage proved that the accusations against him were false.
However, in a tweet on Thursday, March 30, Adura tendered an apology to him and a lady she had initially called out.
In the recent tweets she admitted to falseley accusing her ex and asked that he forgives her for tainting his reputation.
“Dear @Dondekojo, I want to apologize for falsely accusing you of domestic violence, you did not hit me and I was never harmed, I apologize for attacking you. I want to apologize for all the inconvenience these allegations caused to you including the damage to your reputation. I hope you accept my deepest apologies. I would also like to apologize to Funke Onafuye for wrongly accusing her of stealing a dress. I have since deleted all my tweets and regret the distress and inconveniences that my actions caused to you. Thank you.” She tweeted.
