This comes after dozens of Nigerians were killed, several injured and others abducted during a terrorist attack on an Abuja-Kaduna train on Monday night, March 28.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has bemoaned the fact that more than N3bn has been lost to the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna rail route.
While reacting to the unfortunate incident at the scene of the attack, the Minister said the unfortunate event could have been avoided if a N3 billion digital security equipment had been acquired.
“We knew what the problem would be. We knew we needed to have digital security equipment. We applied for it. Because if we had those equipment, you will see nobody on that track. And I warned that lives will be lost. Now, lives are lost. Eight persons dead, 25 persons in the hospital. We don’t know how many persons have been kidnapped. And the cost of that equipment is just N3 billion. The cost of what we’ve lost is more than N3 billion. We’ve lost tracks, we’ve lost locomotives and coaches. We’ve lost human beings. Read his full post below,
“My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives, the wounded and those who will be traumatised by this incident for a long time. At this time last year I was on this same train to kaduna and we talked about how unsafe life is and the risks we were taking. We are the lucky ones. Again a month ago I was on the Lagos /Ibadan train and it was the same spectre of death and attacks that plagued our minds. This is not to disregard the comfort and timeliness of the train ride and how desirable it is.
A few weeks later we heard reports of the same train breaking down on the tracks due to lack of Diesel. Again I was lucky that this didn’t happen to me. Point is, it could be anyone any day. On the road, at the airport, train station, no where is safe anymore. This is the extent of our brokenness.
If anything is an indication of how broken we are today, then the shameful storming of the pitch and destruction of the MKO national stadium abuja, is a clear indication. People are angry and bitter and are just looking for triggers. And boy! they are plenty.
See the initial reactions to the quite clear tweet of the young doctor who died from gunshot wounds from the train and you will see that we’ve also lost our humanity.
Nothing surprises and shocks us anymore. We’ve seen and heard it all. Ridiculousness has been enthroned by our leaders at every level.
There is an urgent need to declare a state of emergency in this country. We are heading for the precipice and it doesn’t seem like we are interested in pulling the breaks. After now it’s a free fall.
The government needs to do more than just promises to apprehend the perpetrators and truly save the lives of WE THE PEOPLE.

In an earlier post, Mercy had gone online to express frustration at the recent happenings in the country, specifically the terrorist attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train on Monday.

She shared pictures from the scene and wrote,
“I woke up with an heavy heart, completely heartbroken…. i am so drained… God this country is exhausting… When exactly will God answer our prayers and flush out these evil leaders????
Seeing the replies to Dr Chinelo’s tweet further broke me… has it degenerated to this? Where is the love??? No empathy whatsoever… people just hide behind their key pads and are quick to unleash venom …. how did we get here???
I know we have horrible leaders but truth is as a people, we can do better.. it doesn’t cost a thing to show love, you dont know the actual situations people are in, dont be too quick to judge most especially when you are not privy to events, situations, Dr Chinelo only asked for prayers, yet she was mocked, bullied, attacked, cursed .
With sadness in my heart i say R.I.P to another promising, young Nigerian, whose life was cut short because of this horrible system.. R.I.P to those who lost their lives, Nigeria failed you 🥲
As a people we can do better, cos we are all we’ve go.”

“Say the truth, talk who helped you that day timaya. you know the truth. Timaya is so petty. You are angry cos I told how wrong it was to knock a woman down and leave here to her fate. Nollywood actor, Williams Uchemba, has opined that its a good thing that Nigeria didn’t qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Although the second leg play-off ended with a 1-1 draw, the Super Eagles of Nigeria lost to the Black Stars of Ghana with away goals, losing their spot in the 2022 World Cup.
Williams Uchemba, reacting to the defeat, says it’s a good thing Nigeria lost so that her citizens can focus their rage on pressing issues in the country.
“Maybe it’s good we lost so we can channel our anger on pressing issues in the country. Almost 1000 Nigerian citizens cannot be accounted for and some people are acting like it’s a normal thing. If it takes losing a match to get us upset and know that we are in a hell hole so be it. Some heads of state are yet to make a statement on the issue. I guess they are busy planning for 2023.” He said.
It might seem as though reality show stars, Mercy Eke and Tacha Akide, are ready to squash their two-year long beef as they recently sat down to iron out their issues.
It can be recalled that the reality stars had an altercation in the Big Brother Naija house in 2019 which led to the disqualification of Tacha from the show.
The ‘fight’ continued till after the show and their fans also fueled the beef by constantly pitching them against each other online.
Well, in a recent chat with media personality, Toke Makinwa, on her show “Talk With Toke Makinwa”, the ladies are seen sitting side by side as they spoke about their feud.
They admitted that even though people, especially viewers of the reality show, want them to be at odds, they are tired of fighting with each other.
At some point, Mercy couldn’t hold her emotions as she shed a tear while speaking on how people love seeing celebrities fight.

“If the death of #Zambian doctor Dr Joseph Kabungo at the #Abuja stadium was caused by being attacked by the #Nigerian fans who invaded the pitch, after the @NGSuperEagles lost the @FIFAWorldCup ticket to @GhanaBlackstars, @thenff would be in terrible trouble with @FIFAcom.” Osasu Obayiuwana tweeted.
Survivors of the terrorist attack on an Abuja-Kaduna train on Monday, March 28, have recounted their ordeals.
Unknown Gunmen attacked a Kaduna-bound training carrying hundred of passengers on Monday Evening. The train reportedly left Abuja at about 6 P.M and it was attacked between Katari and Rijana.
Several people were killed, dozens injured, and others abducted by the terrorists during the attack.
Speaking to journalists on her hospital bed, one of the survivors, Maimuna Ibrahim, who was shot on the thigh, said it was a horrible experience.
“We saw hell, I prayed and prayed and prayed”, she said. “I went to a workshop in Abuja in the morning and I was on my way back to Kaduna that same day after the workshop. I was shot on the thigh. But the bullet did not touch my bone. The bullet penetrated out of my thigh. Honestly, we suffered seriously, but thank God soldiers came and they really helped us”. She said.
Maimuna said she was unable to walk after she was shot and soldiers had to carry her out of the train to a vehicle by the expressway
“I was unable to walk, it was the soldiers who carried me on the back to the vehicle that brought us to the hospital. They were able to pass over the cliff, carrying us on their backs! Seriously, they tried because it was not easy climbing the cliff. The terrorists came, were moving about in the train, but they did not come to where I was seated. I was hit by the bullet through the window. They entered SP17. As they were shooting, the police security on the train asked us to lie down on the floor of the train so that the bullet will not get at us. Unfortunately before I could lie down the bullet hit me.
“I saw the terrorists from the window. They were many, they were small boys of between the ages of 18 and 20. They appeared like Fulani. They wore turbans. They don’t look like Nigerians. They were shouting Allahakubar. They abducted some people, I saw them forcing people out of the train. They were beating them as they were taking them out of the train.” She added.
Another survivor, Fatima Shuaibu, a student of College of Education, Gidan Waya, Kaduna state, said her sister was killed in the attack.
“My sister, Zainab Awal, was shot on the stomach and she died,” she said amid tears.
“I was seated by the window in the train. Suddenly I started seeing flashes of touch light, this was around 8pm. Then there was a loud bang as if something exploded. Then the train went off track as if was falling down. We started shouting and praying. As soon as the train stopped, we started hearing gunshots. The security personnel on the train announced that everybody should lie down on the floor of the train. They attacked the VIP couch, they abducted some people and took them to the bush, they shot other people
“They operated for about two hours or so before soldiers and Airforce arrived and they exchanged gunshots. The terrorists came with five buses and motorcycles. Those who were abducted were taken away in the Sharon buses. The terrorists were small boys of between 18 to 20 years. I saw them, they dont look like Nigerians. The soldiers rescued us in the train. Those of us who were injured were evacuated from the train. They climbed the cliff with us and took us to the expressway where vehicles were brought to carry people.” She added.

Nollywood Star, Mary Remmy Njoku is grateful that the Super-Eagles of Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
Nigeria missed out on the qualifying spot after the team played a 1-1 draw with the black stars of Ghana. Per Away goals rule, Ghana’s single goal scored at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium was enough to secure their place in Qatar.
Many Nigerians were displeased with result but for Mary, there are more pressing issues to be concerned with in Nigeria at this time.
Her post reads ;
Thank God we didn’t qualify for the world cup.
It would have been a distraction.
We need to focus on the real problems in Nigeria and pressure the Government to do something.
An attack on a train!
An attack at the airport!
The insecurity in Nigeria is alarming! No more unnecessary distractions!!! This needs everyone’s attention.
