Nollywood actress, Kemi Lala-Akindoju, has reacted to the underwear policy issued to female students by a Nigerian polytechnic.
Reports made rounds last week that the management of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, has declared a ‘no bra, no entry; no pant, not entry’ policy for female students.
A video of female students standing outside the school gate after they were denied entry into the school for allegedly not wearing underwear also circulated on social media.
It was gathered that security officials were stationed outside the school gate to check if the female students complied with the new policy.
Reacting, Lala Akindoju took to her Twitter page to criticize the school, stating that the policy is ‘ridiculous’.
She then asked if the school are also checking if male students wear underwear as well, or if the ‘madness’ is targeted at female students alone.
She tweeted,
“So this Nigerian university and their no bra/no underwear policy for female students- is it that they don’t see the ridiculousness of it? Also did they check that all male students were wearing underwear?.Or the madness is only targeted at women.”

Instagram comedian, Nosa Afolabi, popularly known as Lasisi Elenu, has lost his mother, Grace Afolabi, to the cold hands of death.
Taking to his Instagram page on Tuesday, March 1, the Lasisi revealed that his mum died after a prolonged illness.
In a lengthy tribute to his late mother, the actor said she was his biggest supporter and he recounted how much she fought to stay alive until she finally lost the battle.
“So this is truly how it feels to lose someone so precious to you. This is the saddest moment of my life.
With so much pain and a heavy heart I say Rest In Peace Mummy. “ Madam Grace Osaivbie Afolabi” is gone!! You were my biggest fan. You laughed to the littlest things i did or said, even after you couldn’t control your laughs, there were still so many things I knew “Yeah this would naturally make Mummy laugh”

FG To Begin Evacuation Of Stranded Nigerians From Wednesday – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that it will evacuate stranded Nigerians from Ukraine from Wednesday.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, made the disclosure while also adding that the government has concluded plans to air-lift the first batch of Nigerians on Wednesday.
The Speaker said the House of Representatives would give every needed support to the Ministry to ensure successful evacuation of Nigerians stranded from Ukraine. Gbajabiamila restated the position of the legislature when he invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Godfrey Onyeama, to his office in Abuja on Monday for a meeting on the plight of Nigerians caught in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Onyeama said the evacuation earlier planned for Monday was rescheduled for Wednesday to enable the ministry, the House, and the Nigerian foreign missions in Ukraine, Poland, and Russia to complete the formalities of moving Nigerians from Ukraine to safe borders with neighboring countries.
He said the ministry, in conjunction with the missions, had completed formalities for Nigerians to move to safe border points from where they would be transported in buses to the airports in neighboring countries.

Kwara PDP spokesman, Kunle Ashaolu, dies hours after celebrating his birthday
A few hours after celebrating his birthday, the publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Tunde Ashaolu, has died.
Ashaolu clocked a new age on Friday, February 25, and was hosted by his friends and party members, including former Senate President Bukola Saraki, for a get-together on Saturday, February 26.
Sadly, by Sunday, February 27, at about 7.30pm, Ashaolu took ill and was pronounced dead by doctors.
A friend who took to social media to mourn his demise wrote,
“My brother, friend, professional colleague and politician. Our friendship abruptly ends. Olatunde was one of the young lads that l forged childhood friendship with as sophomores in my Alma mater, Cherubim & Seraphim College in llorin. Others included Abdulkadir Abiodun Baraje, scion of the Alhaji Kawu Baraje, a former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party [PDP], Saheed Olawale Adebayo aka Omo Oga Bello, also the scion of the Adebayo Salami dynasty of llorin. FIFA and UEFA suspend Russian clubs and national teams from all competitions
All Russian clubs and national teams are suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice.
Following the initial decisions adopted by the FIFA Council and the UEFA Executive Committee, which envisaged the adoption of additional measures, FIFA and UEFA have today decided together that all Russian teams, whether national representative teams or club teams, shall be suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice.
These decisions were adopted today by the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA, respectively the highest decision-making bodies of both institutions on such urgent matters.
Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine. Both Presidents hope that the situation in Ukraine will improve significantly and rapidly so that football can again be a vector for unity and peace amongst people.

“Putin, let there be peace” – Nigerians in Abuja stage protest over Russian Invasion
Some Nigerians in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja this morning staged a protest in front of the Russian embassy in Abuja over the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces.
The protesters, who included parents, friends, and loved ones of stranded and fleeing Nigerians in Ukraine, came out in numbers and pleaded with the Russian government to let peace reign.
The protesters carried placards and were heard chanting songs saying “Putin, let there be peace. We are parents of Nigerians trapped in Ukraine. ”
They also wore T-shirts that had the inscription, “Stop the war.”
They lamented the horrific reports they’ve been receiving about their loved ones being prevented from fleeing Ukraine to other countries such as Hungary, Poland, and others.

“Say no to drugs” – Singer, Zinoleesky breaks silence following release from NDLEA custody (video)
Nigerian singer, Zinoleesky, has broken his silence following his release from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) custody.
Recall that Marlian music signees, Zinloeesky and Mohbad were arrested by NDLEA operatives during a midnight raid on their home on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, who confirmed the arrest, said the singers were in possession of drugs, cannabis and molly.
Upon his release from NDLEA custody, Zinoleesky urged young Nigerians to stay away from drugs. Speaking on his arrest, he revealed that the NDLEA had received a distress call. Unfortunately, the issue escalated, which led to their arrest.
He promised that henceforth he and his team are going to be cooperating with agency to help them finish their investigations.

Popular Nigerian socialite, Sodiq Oluwadamilola better known as Dammie Richie, has passed on.
As at the time of filing this report, there are conflicting reports on what led to his death.
While some people claim he committed suicide after battling with depression for about two years, some others claim he died after a brief illness.
However, reports have it that he checked himself into a rehabilitation center at some point because of his mental health issues.
Meanwhile, friends and acquaintances of the Dubai based socialite have taken to social media to mourn his sudden demise.

In other news, a man has called out popular Nigerian singer, Portable, after his apartment was reportedly raided by the singer and his crew.
The young man who shared a video of the state they allegedly left his room said that Portable and his crew planned to raid DJ Chicken’s room but broke into his own apartment.
He claimed that singer and his boy destroyed some of his properties and also stole his money.
He noted that the video was not to drag the Zazu Zeh sta, but to call his attention to the error so that he could make amends.

A Nigerian footballer, Mayi Amanzah Ademe Seth, has proposed to his girlfriend, Blessing Karimu, on the pitch at the New Jos Stadium in Plateau State.
The Akwa United midfielder asked Blessing to marry him just before the kick-off of Plateau United vs Akwa United 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match-day 15 game on Sunday, February 27.
Mayi, who went on his knee to pop the question, rocked a T-shirt with the inscription “Will you marry me?” while his colleagues wore shirts that read, “Blessing Karimu, please say yes.”
The official Twitter account of the League Management Company (LMC) issued a statement about the proposal.
“In Jos before #PLAAKW kickoff today. Akwa Utd star Seth Mayi proposes to his sweetheart Blessing Karimu & she said YES. A wedding party coming up in Jos soon.” the statement reads.

In other news, reality TV star and actor, Tobi Bakre, has resumed father duties with his son, and one can tell he’s enjoying every bit of it.
Taking to his Instagram page moments ago, the father of one shared an adorable video of himself backing his son, Malik, and patting the little boy to sleep.
In the video, Tobi, who backed Malik with a wrapper and a shawl like a “pro”, is also seen displaying some gentle moves like a typical Afican mum would do to make the baby enjoy his sleep on the back.
