The clergyman, while preaching in his church, recently said the greatest mistake one can make is to marry only for sexual pleasure. He noted that people who settle down only for the sex, would eventually get tired and then realize there’s more to marriage than sex.

A Nigerian lady has left her boyfriend in awe after she showed him what she did with all the monetary gifts she’s ever received from him.

The lady sent him a video of a massive wig shop and revealed that she had saved up all the money he had given her and decided to start a hair business.

“I just want to use this medium to thank you for being my father and mother. Thanks for all the lessons in being an independent woman. I’d like to inform you that your wife is not only a materialist, but also a productive one…All the money you give me, I don’t use it to spend everything,” she told him.

The man who was impressed by his girlfriend’s actions explained how he usually gave her a lot of money, and at some point, he threatened to stop, not knowing she was investing wisely.

“My girlfriend surpassed me by opening a shop. I used to give her money gaan to the extent I disagreed say I no dey give her again. Not knowing she was up to something she really shocked me”, he wrote.

EFCC returns €1,120 to German victim duped by a Nigerian fraudster

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has returned €1,120 (One Thousand One Hundred and Twenty Euros) recovered from a convicted fraudster to his German victim, one Ms. Regina Gluck.

The antigraft agency returned the money which was recovered from a convicted fraudster, Austin Isibor Aisosa on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

Austin had obtained the fund from Gluck through false representation that he was a wounded American soldier in Afghanistan and needed urgent medical attention to return to the United States.

The Secretary to the Commission, Dr. George Ekpungu who presented the money to Jan Ritterhoff, an official of the German Embassy in Nigeria, expressed satisfaction for the recovery and the Commission’s resolve to continue to partner with the German Embassy and other international partners in fighting economic and financial crimes.

“It is obvious that EFCC is doing its work and we will continue to do our best to fight all forms of economic and financial crimes”, he said.

Ritterhoff thanked the EFCC for their efforts and assured Nigeria of the German government’s support in the fight against economic and financial crimes as he accepted the money on behalf of the victim.

“We are happy that this is possible and we will return it to Ms. Gluck as soon as possible. We are always here to help you and we are grateful for your help in very difficult cases,” he said.

The Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, has refused to comment on the Federal Government’s stand on the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

It was earlier reported that the biggest fear of the Ukrainians came to pass on Thursday, February 24, after Russian military invaded the country and deployed bombs.

Onyema had been accosted by some journalists at an event on Thursday, and was asked to comment on Nigeria’s stand on the impending full-blown war.

However, he simply laughed and walked away from the newsmen.

This comes in the wake of Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin’s threat that any country that tries to interfere in its war against Ukraine will face severe consequences greater than any faced in history.

The video of Onyema ‘fleeing’ to evade the question has stirred mixed reactions from Nigerians home and abroad, as they point out that Nigerian citizens are also trapped in Ukraine.

Nigerian clergyman, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has called for prayers for Ukraine following the country’s invasion by Russian forces.

The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, in a video shared on his verified Facebook page, assured Ukraine’s domicile that he has been praying for them, and hopes for a swift answer from God.

Suleman went on his knees to pray in front of a projector screen showing the map of Ukraine and Russia.

He stated that Ukraine is not the target of the war, but he won’t say whose country it is so that people in other countries don’t start to panic.

“Those who do not understand warfare are the ones worried about physical things. Every physical happening has a spiritual undertone. We are going to pray to the Lord to intervene, because what the enemy is intending… I’m not going to talk about that.

Ukraine is not the target but I won’t talk about that so those living in certain countries won’t get afraid. We are praying for them, not just Ukraine, we are praying for Russia that God Almighty will intervene for the war to cease,” he said.

Man allegedly strangles his fiancée to death in Abuja, informs her family to “come and carry her corpse”

The Abuja Police Command has arrested a man identified as Ugochukwu Joseph for the alleged murder of his fiancée, one Evelyn Alifia in Lugbe area of the state.

According to reports, the couple started dating in May 2021, and got engaged in August of the same year. The suspect reportedly moved into the deceased’s house afterwards because he was unemployed and didn’t have an accommodation.

It was gathered that Evelyn shouldered the financial responsibilities of Ugochukwu, who was said to have physically assaulted her at the slightest provocation.

She had planned to move out of the apartment over his constant abuse. However on Saturday, February 19, they got into an argument during which he allegedly strangled her to death and fled.

“After running to a safer place, Ugochukwu called Evelyn’s father in the village intimidating him of Evelyn’s death, that he should come and carry his daughter’s corpse. He also called a brother in-law to say the same thing. It was the father who called from the village to inform the siblings in Abuja. That was how the news broke out,” a source said.

Her corpse was reportedly recovered by the police on Monday, February 21.

Friends of the deceased have taken to social media to mourn her untimely demise.

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky bans males aged 18-60 from leaving the country amid Russia’s attack

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has banned males between ages 18-60 from leaving the country after it was invaded by Russia.

Zelensky gave this order in a video statement released on Thursday evening, February 44. The president who was clad in a military camouflage, said the male citizens are needed to support the country’s military against Russian attacks.

He also ordered that a general military mobilization should begin within 90 days from the date of entry into force of this decree. The mobilization also instructed “the Security Service of Ukraine to take counterintelligence measures during the general mobilization.”

Speaking in the video, Zelensy disclosed that he believes Russian special forces have already invaded the Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and they’ve put a target on his back.

He said,“According to our information, the enemy marked me as target No. 1, my family, as target No. 2. They want to destroy Ukraine politically by destroying the head of state. We have information that enemy sabotage groups have entered Kyiv.”

“I am staying in the government quarter together with others” he added.

Nigerian human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed that the police said he was arrested for defaming billionaire businessman, Ned Nwoko.

The media personality was arrested by the police on Thursday, February 24 in Abuja.

Taking to his Facebook page, following his release, Sowore wrote,

“Released from Nigeria Police Force idiotic arrest and detention. They claimed I defamed a criminal, Ned Nwoko! Useless people.”

In another post, Sowore claimed he was detained for refusing to write a statement after being detained.

In his words,

“Yesterday I was arrested and detained by @nigeriapoliceforce for what they claimed was “criminal defamation” of one @princenednwoko. I kept asking the police team how it is that anyone could defame a person without character or integrity? NO ANSWER! A viral video has shown the moment a Ukrainian woman confronted a Russian soldier hours after Russia’s invasion.

In the video that’s currently serving the rounds online, the woman is seen telling the soldier that he has no business in her country.

“What the f*** are you doing in our land?” The brave woman asks.

When the soldier says they are there for “exercises” and says he’s Russian, the woman replies, “So what the f*** are you doing here?”

The soldier then tells her that the chat will “lead to nothing” and that she should move on, but she refuses.

“The Church is wrong on LGBTQ doctrines” – Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich calls for revision of Church teaching to accommodate homosexuality

A prince of the Roman Catholic Church, Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich of Luxembourg, has said that the church is wrong in its position that homosexuality is a sin.

The Cardinal who is also a strategic Jesuit ally of the pope, made this assertion in a recent interview with KDA, a German Catholic news agency.

According to him, the church’s stance on homosexuality is no longer correct and the doctrines need to be revised to accommodate the LGBTQ community.

His words,

“The Church’s positions on homosexual relationships as sinful are wrong.

“I believe that the sociological and scientific foundation of this doctrine is no longer correct. It is time for a fundamental revision of Church teaching, and the way in which Pope Francis has spoken of homosexuality could lead to a change in doctrine.

“In our archdiocese, in Luxembourg, no one is fired for being homosexual, or divorced and remarried. I can’t toss them out – they would become unemployed, and how can such a thing be Christian? As for homosexual priests, there are many of these, and it would be good if they could talk about this with their bishop without his condemning them.”

The Cardinal’s statement has gotten a lot of attention from people, considering his position in the church.

An outspoken conservative, Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, reacting to his statement in a tweet posted on Twitter, said, “This Cardinal seems to be claiming a private revelation which is contrary to scripture & the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Any private revelation that contradicts public revelation must be condemned.”

In other news, the controversial singer recently reacted to the arrest of his colleagues, Zinoleesky and Mohbad, by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

Reacting in a video shared on his Instastory, Portable called out the NDLEA and asked if people are not allowed to smoke in their homes and neighborhood anymore.

Some Nigerians who are currently trapped in Ukraine after the country was attacked by Russia, have reacted to the Federal Government’s offer to evacuate them.

Daily Trust spoke with a couple of them over the phone on Thursday, February 24, and they dismissed the offer and said most Nigerians would prefer to stay back, than return to Nigeria.

Edidiong Cyprian Ukpakha, who has been living in Ukraine for years, said the government’s plan is unrealistic as the airspace has been closed down. He also said the government never fulfils their promises.

“I was here in 2013 during a similar crisis when they promised to evacuate Nigerians and they never did. So, this is the attitude of every Nigerian in Ukraine that they will promise and not fulfill.” he said.

He also berated the government for telling Nigerians trapped in Ukraine to take responsibility for their safety when “other countries are making provisions on how to evacuate the citizens, providing phone lines to call, shelter and aids to their people and the Nigerian government is telling us ‘You are on your own’.”

“Let’s tell ourselves the truth, there is no airspace to fly in, America evacuated her citizens a long time ago, and other countries. Now Russian troops are all over Ukraine already. We rely on the prayers of Nigerian pastors and bishops to save us from this.

The Nigerian embassy here are not helping matters and they don’t want to hear the truth.” said.

A medical student in Kiev, Treasure Chinenye Bellgam, said it would take a lot of humility for Nigerians to return to the country as it’s like they are being demoted.

“I am a believer in Christ Jesus and I have to ask God for direction whether to return to Nigeria or not. Most Nigerians who are here on hustle are not willing to leave. They prefer to die here. It’s like after God has lifted you one step higher you want to go two steps backward, it’s like being demoted.

But you need a lot of humility to go back to Nigeria because some people sold lands, cars, and the rest to come here and they have amazing stories.” she said

Another Nigerian living in Kiev, Julius, encouraged the government to provide an aircraft but noted that many Nigerians will not return.

“Considering the economy in Nigeria, I think a lot of people would look for the safest place here than returning to Nigeria. They should do it (supply of aircraft) so that it becomes a choice for those who would want to stay back or those who want to return.”

Two prospective corps members killed in auto crash on their way to NYSC orientation camp in Adamawa

Two prospective corps members have died in a fatal auto crash on Thursday, February 24, on their way to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Adamawa.

The victims have been identified as Nana Aisha Ahmad Kila from Jigawa State and Said Shehu Ibrahim, a graduate of the Bayero University Kano.

Family and friends of the deceased have taken to social media to mourn their demise.

Aliyu Danladi, a friend of late Shehu, in a touching tribute to him described the deceased as a real gentleman.

This has to be the most painful loss I suffered so far this year. I realized that to cry is relief for tears relieve pain.

George Izunwa, a Nigerian preacher, has counseled women to avoid bringing a partner who hasn’t proposed to them to their parents.

The clergyman, who gave this advice to single ladies during a sermon in his church also advised them against introducing boyfriends to siblings and friends.

According to him, introducing a man who has not yet proposed marriage to family or friends may block other people who are interested in them from approaching them.

In his words,

“Stop taking somebody who has not proposed to you to your parents house. Stop introducing somebody who has not proposed to you to your sisters and brothers. Don’t assume relationship. Keep the person at arms length. Stop introducing the person to many of your friends. If somebody is dating you, let the person date you. If they ask, you say I am just going out with him. He is a date. Don’t make it serious.

One of the reasons you shouldn’t make it serious is because maybe somebody is ‘eyeing’ you. The person may think you are occupied when you are not occupied. That you are dating somebody doesn’t mean you can’t take a date from another person. If he hasn’t proposed, you can move”.

Embattled Nigerian singer, Mohbad has alleged that his boss Naira Marley, and others working with the Marlian music label are after his life.

Recall that men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency picked up Mohbad and Zino in the early hours of Thursday but he was later released some hours later.

Instantly, Mohbad took to his Instalive to claim he was on his way to the hospital for treatment, he also made some disturbing claims during the video session that he didn’t want to die.

The “feel good” crooner claimed that he didn’t know that some of things he was doing was getting people under the music label angry.

The impending war between Russia and Ukraine is now in full swing and stranded Nigerians in Ukriane have said they feel left alone by the Federal government as they do not know what to do.

Speaking to CNN Africa, Anjola-Oluwa Ero-Phillips, a Nigerian medical student in Ukraine, said he and around 70 other Nigerian students are stranded with no way to legally leave Lviv in the west of the country, close to the border with Poland.

In his words ;

“There have not been explosions here but earlier in the day we heard the siren tests. Flights are cancelled and it’s hard to get any taxis or Uber. Everybody is at the ATM trying to withdraw cash but banks are not opening. Money is running out at the ATM and you can’t do app transactions anymore.

Based on what I have heard from the Indian citizens, their government is trying to get free transit for them to the Polish border,”

A lady has taken to video-sharing platform, TikTok, to warn people against being in toxic relationships as she shared her recent experience.

The TikTok user shared a video of her badly bruised body and disclosed that she was allegedly attacked by her boyfriend on her birthday.

Her lover seemingly threw her a birthday surprise with cakes and gifts, however things went south and he allegedly physically assaulted her.

She was hospitalized after the incident and took to social media to thank God for saving her life.

In other news, a video circulating online has shown a young lady being confronted after sharing her friend’s naked footage on social media.

It was gathered that the yet-to-be identified lady had posted nude videos of her friend on different social media platforms, in a bid to embarrass her.

However, after she was accosted, she’s seen begging for forgiveness.

In the viral video, a voice is heard saying that the lady is in the habit of recording her female friends when they are unclad, and she would then share the footage on social media.

Actress and wife of legendary Nigerian singer, 2Baba, Annie Idibia, has opened up about her childhood, revealing that she once shared a one-bedroom apartment with her three brothers.

The mother of two made this revelation in an Instagram post on Wednesday night, February 23, while expressing her excitement over being on the cover of the March issue for Glamour South Africa magazine.

Recounting growing up in a one room apartment with her brothers, she wrote,

“Yes! Mama I made it. We made it! This is so so huge for me (Oh God knows) @glamour_sa. Now just look at that cook’s daughter who used to live in a one bedroom ‘boys quarter’ with her three brothers; who used to watch colored television in the next door neighbor’s room because their mother couldn’t afford a colored TV at that time. #GraceFoundMe.
