The trial of Nigerian businessman, Ismailia Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, continued at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos today, January 18.

It can be recalled that Mompha was arrested by Operatives of the EFCC, Lagos state command, on Monday, January 10, for allegedly laundering funds obtained through unlawful activities and retention of alleged proceeds of crime, and was first arraigned in court on Thursday morning, January 12. The internet celebrity is currently standing trial alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment Limited, on an amended 22-count charge bordering on cyber fraud and money laundering to the tune of N32.9 billion.

During the last hearing, the court ordered that Mompha be kept in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) until the hearing of his bail application.

He appeared again in court this mronng for hearing and photos of him in court found it’s way to the internet.

In updated reports, the court granted a bail of N200million to the suspected internet fraudster, with two sureties in the like sum.

The Presiding judge, Justice Dada, granted the application for bail filed through Mompha’s lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole. However, Mompha opted to be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Center following his inability to meet the strict bail conditions.

Nigerian music producer and singer, Samuel Oguachuba a.k.a Samklef, has predicted doom and gloom ahead of the forthcoming 2023 elections.

A Nigerian businessman has narrated how a lady who came to him for help with fees to learn a skill ended up using the money he gave her to buy a phone.

The businessman identified as Iwuala Nnamdi, who called the lady out on social media, said she approached him and said she needed help with N100,000 to pay for makeup training lessons.

Iwuala Nnamdi revealed he introduced the lady to another guy who helped her with the fee, but surprisingly, she used the money to buy a phone.

Taking to Facebook, he wrote,

“You came to me and said you want to learn make up, I told you I don’t have money but I’ll try for you as soon anything came up, fast forward a week later, I introduced you to a guy because you told me your problems.

Taking to his Facebook page, Ossai chided parents for not instilling the fear of God in their children. According to him, children trained properly won’t engage in such vices.

He further stated that parents no longer question the source of their children’s wealth and who their friends are.

Ossai maintained that parents are the root cause of prostitution and ritual killings in Nigeria.

A young man has called out popular socialite, Cubana Chiefpriest, for allegedly refusing to pay the sum of N700K he owes him since 2019.

According to the young man identified as Killaboigram, he paid for some clothes the celebrity barman bought at a mall on his request, and Chiefpriest is yet to refund his money to date.

Sharing screenshots of their chat to back up his claim, Killaboigram fumed that his debtor sprays money at different events and does numerous giveaways on social media but has refused to pay his debt.

He added that he had sent several messages to Cubana Chiefpries asking that he pay up his debt, but all his messages were ignored.

It can be recalled that the “clergywoman”, whose real name is Funmilayo Adebayo, became an internet sensation after her controversial sermon videos went viral.

Reacting, Reno took to his Instagram page to state that religion thrives in Nigeria because of poverty and suffering.

Nollywood actress and entertainer, Iyabo Ojo, has called for guns to be legalized in Nigeria so pedophiles can be easily dealt with.

The thespian made this call while reacting to a heartbreaking video shared online by comedienne, Princess.

In the video, a traumatized four-year-old girl narrated how she was sexually assaulted by her female teacher who warned her against speaking up.

Princess, whose foster daughter was allegedly molested by actor, Baba Ijesha, posted the video on her Instagram page and wrote,

“4 year old survivor talks about how her teacher Mrs Ogar sexually abused her this traumatized me all over again #Abuseofminors have become the new trend in Nigeria & only few people are speaking up. Reacting, Iyabo Ojo who has always used her voice and platform to speak against sexual harrasment, threatened to deal with anyone who messes with her kids.

In other news, 61-year-old American grandmother, Cheryl McGregor, who recently tied the knot with her 24-year-old man, Quran McCain, has revealed they are planning on having a baby through surrogacy.
According to her, they decided to opt for a surrogate pregnancy after attempts to conceive naturally were unsuccessful.

“We prefer surrogacy, however, we have seen a lot of people embroiled in legal complications far after the child is born, We are looking for a nice surrogate who is willing to sign a contract to have nothing to do with the child after it’s born. We don’t want people trying to have a baby for us for financial gain, we are not that financially inclined ourselves. With adoption, we are looking for a biracial baby so the baby would know, ‘I have half black and half white parents”, the husband, Quran McCain said.

Cheryl has seven children and 17 grandchildren already, but she and her 24-year-old husband said they feel they deserve to have children of their own.

Cheryl’s daughters were initially considered to carry the couple’s baby, but both have had hysterectomies so were unsuitable.

Due to her age, Cheryl noted that she might not be there for their children for long, but she has faith in her husband to raise them well.

In her words,

“We understand that I may not be there for as long as Quran is but I have faith in him. If I am not here he can do it. He’s gonna be a great father, he’s a responsible adult. I had every bit of faith that he could raise our child and do it very well.”

The couple first went viral after after they shared video clips of themselves on TikTok. The 61-year-old grandma from Rome, Georgia, first met Quran McCain in 2012, while they were both working at American fast food chain Dairy Queen.

Anambra businessman reportedly found dead in a hotel room, private part missing

A young Nigerian businessman identified as Zubby More was discovered dead in a hotel room in Anambra state.

It was gathered that he lodged at the hotel on January 13 after he attended an event in Amichi. However, the circumstances surrounding his death have prompted his friends to call for a thorough investigation.

One of his friends, Nnaemeka Ikerionwu, in a Facebook post said that Zubby was reportedly found dead the next morning and the management of the hotel took him to the morgue without informing his family.

Ikerionwu further revealed that the family only got to know about the death when they launched a search when he didn’t return home the following day, and were told that he died in his hotel room and had been taken to a morgue.

The family went to the morgue and found out that his testicles were missing. They confronted the hotel staff and were told that the deceased died after he slipped on the bathroom tiles.

According to a Twitter user, @AkwariCharles, who shared the story on the micro-blogging platform, the man is currently petrified and has gone incommunicado since the incident.

He claimed that the man got the wedding planner for his upcoming wedding pregnant, despite the fact that he was about to tie the knot.

Lady recounts — A group of mature African American women and men wearing robes, singing and clapping in a church choir.

A Nigerian lady, identified as Omah fitness, has recounted how a lady who was co-habiting with her boyfriend judged her for not being a churchgoer.

Taking to Twitter, Omah disclosed that when she couldn’t take the judgmental comments anymore, she slammed the chorister and pointed out that she is cohabiting with a man she’s not married to.

According to her, the lady stopped talking to her after the incident.

“I remember when my neighbour’s girlfriend had issues with me not going to church few years ago. Sis was cohabiting with a man she was not married to and sings in the church choir and always preaching to me to go to church.”

“It wasn’t the question that was irking then, it was the undertone. She always sounded so judgemental. I was the ekwensu that was going straight to hell because I don’t go to church.

“So one day I got so fed up and told her ” ‘I no dey go church but I still better pass you wey dey live with man wey never marry u.

“Omo! I could tell those words pierced her soul, from the way her face dropped to the ground and she walked away without lifting it up till she got to their door.
