Nigerian author and lawyer, Reno Omkri, has berated men who cry when their women leave them.
According to him, it’s a sign of weakness for a man to cry when a woman ends their relationship, even if she’s a good woman.
“When a man cries over the death of loved ones, he gains respect. But if he cries because a woman left him, or rejected his proposal, he projects weakness. How can you cry because of a girl? Yes, Christ wept. But where was He was when He wept? At Lazarus’s funeral!”, he tweeted.
A Twitter user with a contrary opinion, however, averred that a man can express his emotions when a good woman leaves, because they are human too.
In response, Reno Omokri stated that the best thing for a man to do at that time is not to cry, but rather, he should go and look for a better one.
In his words,
“If a good woman leaves you, that is not enough reason to cry. Think of it this way: If you have $3.5 billion, and you lose $1 dollar, would you cry? There are 3.5 billions other women on Earth. Many of them will also be good. Instead of crying, go and find another one! In fact, don’t go and find another one. Rather, go and find a better one.
Develop yourself to the extent that it is women that should cry at the thought of losing you. Stop chasing them. Go and chase success. By the time you have a good command of business, coupled with self control, and have made money your servant instead of your master, no good woman will leave you!
But when you are so clingy and needy, and always kowtowing to her, and professing love, and writing poems, and following her around like a puppy, you will make it impossible for her to respect you, and she will pack her kaya and look for a real man who knows that he is the head in the relationship.”
“That the world may know that greatness can be found in the most unlikely places”

“I had hyperemesis gravidarum for the first 25 weeks of pregnancy, and when I tell you, it is the hardest thing I have ever experienced in life, and I doubt any-other thing can be more challenging or more painful. I was bedridden for weeks and could barely open my eyes and talk. All I could do was breathe.
I threw up 10-15 times a day. I won’t call it throwing up; it was an exorcism where i felt like a sick volcano needed to erupt way too often. I couldn’t eat or drink anything.
All through, I have had the worst heartburn, indigestion, constipation, acid reflux coupled with the worst pelvic pain that started at 6weeks ( cue in my voice over artist voice )
Between the big, painful agbalumo looking boils, Wicklow, sore eyes, and teeth, it was hard to remain grateful.
How did something I wanted so much become the most painful experience of my life? I cried a lot from the pain, and I cried because I felt terrible for feeling so awful because I just couldn’t see past the pain.
I know it can’t be easy growing life, but why did I feel like I was dying and getting the life sucked out of me. Why didn’t I know what was wrong with me? Why do they call it morning sickness when you feel sick every damn second. Why is my Dr telling me this is normal! It’s not normal! Why do I see new mums write how happy they are and how it is the most beautiful experience when I Don’t feel that way.
………………..
Growing a human is mind-blowing, and a miracle, but know it is HARD. I feel like a broken record I feel like I’m complaining But this is my reality. I had HG for 25 weeks when most women have it all through pregnancy. I’m sending love to every woman that has ever felt this way. Well done, mama ❤️.
PS- pregnant women have the most robust sense of smell! We can smell your soul 😂”

Following the invalidation of the marriages carried out at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry, by a Federal High court sitting in Lagos, Nigerian singer, Simi, who years back, got married to her husband, Adekunle Gold at said registry has questioned him on where their marriage stands following the development.
It was earlier reported that there’s been a legal dispute between the Federal government of Nigeria and Local government areas who to have the power to grant marriage certificate — and in light of this, a High court gave a verdict in favour of the LGAs, leaving all marriages certified by the FG as invalid and illegal.
In reaction to the update, the mother of one took to her Twitter page to ask her husband if the development means that their three-year-old marriage is void and they’ve been “fornicating” since then.
“Ngbor, Adekunle Gold we have been fornicating?” Simi asked.
In response, her husband wrote, “My own na make them do refund.”
UPDATE: FG DISMISSES REPORTS THAT MARRIAGES CONDUCTED AT IKOYI REGISTRY ARE VOID
The federal government has debunked reports making the rounds that the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has voided all marriages conducted by the Ikoyi marriage registry.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, the Permanent Secretary and Principal Registrar of Marriages, Ministry Of Interior, described the reports as “false, misleading and a deliberate distortion of the decision of the Court in Suit No: FHC/L/CS/816/18 between Eti-Osa Local Government Council & 3 others”.
Read the full statement below.
The attention of the Ministry of Interior has been drawn to news making the rounds on social media claiming that the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has declared all Marriages conducted by Ikoyi marriage registry to be illegal and invalid.
We would like to state that this statement is false, misleading and a deliberate distortion of the decision of the Court in Suit No: FHC/L/CS/816/18 between Eti-Osa Local Government Council & 3 others… where the Honourable Court held that only the Local Government councils can conduct valid marriages in Nigeria.
It is noteworthy that, the same Federal High Court situated in Ikoyi, Lagos in Suit No. FHC/L/870/2002 between Prince Haastrup and Eti Osa Local Government held that the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Interior is constitutionally empowered to conduct marriages in Nigeria and held that the Local Governments were delegated by the Federal Government to conduct marriages, by virtue of Legal Notices issued pursuant to the Marriage Act.
In that case, the learned trial judge held that nothing in the role of local governments, as defined in the Constitution, suggests that local governments can conduct or contract marriages as alleged in their pleadings. The Court affirmed that powers of the local governments to contract statutory marriages is derived from the Legal Notices issued by the President.
The Court also confirmed that the role of local governments, as enshrined in the Constitution is limited to registration of all forms of marriages (including Islamic and customary marriages).
Rather than appeal this decision, the same claimants instituted another action in 2016 Suit no. FHC/L/CS/1760/16 Egor Local Government, EtiOsa Local Government and 2 others V Hon, Minister of Interior and 2 Others.
The Court held that the Suit was an abuse of court process, as it could not be invited to make another pronouncement on the same point, which would lead to conflicting decisions coming from the same court and struck out the case.
The same issue was adjudicated in the case of Olumide Babalola vs Ikeja Local Government and the Registered Trustees of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Suit No. LD/1343/GCM/2016 delivered on 15th May, 2017.
The Court held that while registration of marriages are regulated by local governments, being under the concurrent list, formation of marriage is under the Exclusive Legislative List, within the jurisdiction of the Federal Government, regulated by the Ministry of Interior.
It is further worthy of note that the issue of formation, annulment and other matrimonial causes are by virtue of item 61 of the 1st Schedule of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria exclusively reserved for the Federal Government. The General Public is invited to note that these judgments are all still subsisting, competent and have not been appealed against till date.
Further to the above, the current decision of the Federal High Court delivered by Hon. Justice D. E. Osiagor of Court 6, cannot set aside a previous decision of the same Court, which is of coordinate jurisdiction, as that would amount to the court sitting on appeal over its own judgment.. In the circumstances, the Federal Government through the Ministry of Interior, has applied for a certified true copy of the judgement and will take appropriate further action including but not limited to filing of an appeal in respect of this conflicting and confusing decision, in line with the provisions of the Constitution.
We would like to appeal to the general public, the international community, to couples who had hitherto had their marriages solemnized at Federal Marriage Registries by duly licensed places of worship and to all intending couples to be calm and continue transacting their normal businesses at all Federal Marriage Registries subsisting throughout the federation in line with statutory and constitutional provisions.
The general public is to please note the foregoing and maintain status quo ante. Dr. Shuaib Belgore Permanent Secretary/Principal Registrar of Marriages
