Photos and video of two male adults rescued alive from the rubbles of Ikoyi building collapse
Two male adults have been rescued from the rubbles at the scene of the 21-storey building that collapsed at Ikoyi, Lagos state.
It was earlier reported that the building located at off Alexander way, Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State, collapsed on Monday, November 1, leaving many trapped under the rubbles. Read here.
While details of the casualties and those trapped inside the building are still sketchy, two men have been rescued by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) this morning, November 2.

According to reports, while the building was collapsing, the boy jumped off it, into another compound.

Ikoyi Building Collapse: Family of trapped NYSC member weep profusely as they beg for her rescue
Yesterday, November 1st, 2021, tragedy struck at Ikoyi in Lagos State as a 21-storey building collapsed and trapped people who were in it in the process.
Many people have been feared dead as efforts as still ongoing to rescue lucky survivors.
A touching video making the rounds on social media shows the moment the family of a NYSC Member who is trapped under the rubble begged desperately for their loved one to be rescued.

According to the BBC, At least 10 people have died and dozens are missing.
Rescue workers at the site say they have heard more voices from under the rubble. Nine people have been pulled out alive so far.
The partially built block of luxury apartments came down on Monday but what caused the collapse remains unclear.

A Dubai-based Nigerian man has advised people to marry a spouse who understands the meaning of real value as he narrates his personal experience with his wife.
The man, identified as @Asthms on Twitter, revealed that every time he bought his wife an expensive designer item, she always told him to return the item.
According to him, due to her sacrifices and willingness to let go of those Gucci and Balenciaga items, they were able to pay off her Masters Degree loan on Monday, November 1.
He tweeted,
“On my wife’s birthday 4 years ago, I bought her a Gucci Bag and Purse. She told me to take it back.
Last year I bought her Balenciagas. She told me to take them back.
Today we paid off her Masters Degree.
Marry someone who knows what real value is.”
His tweet was met with mixed reactions as netizens opine that his marital advise was not necessary because there is nothing wrong with owning designer items.
In response, he said, “No. It was actually more of a statement on her teaching me through her own financial principles to make better decisions and prioritize correctly”.

Osun polytechnic student dies after allegedly visiting her boyfriend
A year-one student of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, simply identified as Omowunmi, has reportedly died after visiting her boyfriend.
According to The Nation, the Mass Communication student developed medical complications after she returned home from her boyfriend’s house where she had spent the night.
“The girl slept in her boyfriend’s residence. When she left his place she developed complications and started foaming in the mouth. She was rushed to hospital but was rejected. She died on the way to another hospital.
We believe that Wumi was used for rituals by her boyfriend and that was the reason some of her friends reported the matter to the police. The officers took her body to a morgue in Ikirun community.” a source said to The Nation.
The spokesperson of the institution, Tope Abiola, confirming the incident said,
“Wumi “died at the weekend. We do not know the cause of death; The police are still investigating.
The boyfriend has been arrested in connection with the death. The boy is in police custody for investigation. The boy is not our student.”

There was pandemonium at a community in Rivers state after Photos of different men and women “in chains” were uncovered in a shrine in the state.
The native doctor whose shrine the photos were uncovered, is said to have been caught while burying a 3months old child alive. Residents accosted him and beat him to confess, but he mysteriously disappeared in the process.
The angry youths then invaded his shrine and found Photographs of people tied, padlocked and nailed to different spots. It was alleged that most of them who were nailed are suffering strokes or dead in real life.
A Facebook user identified as Ununuma Bidemi Edward-Odoi, who witnessed the incident, wrote,
“A Delta State Native/Witch Doctor who lived in Edeoha in Upata Ekpeye was caught burying a 3months old child alive and when confronted and beaten to confess, he disappeared.
On getting to his house/Shrine 100’s of pictures were discovered nailed, tied and chained, to different places.
Padlocks were in chains littered everywhere tied to people’s pictures. The dead 3months old baby was dung up, the angry youths tried all they could to burn down his building in order to set victims in chains free but the building couldn’t catch fire so they broke it down instead. So many items and unimaginable things were found there, and most of those whose pictures were found there are all dead in real life.
The good news is that, most of those blind and with stroke whose pictures were found there have gained their freedom as we speak, the blind can see and those with stroke are perfectly fine.”
Giving a detailed account of the incident that reportedly happened at Edeoha, Ahoada in Rivers State, another eye witness added,
“Wickedness Of Man to his Fellow man. Yesterday, a Native Doctor known as Dr Mike Indian was caught while trying to bury a 3 Months old baby Alive in Edeoha, Ahoada in Rivers State.
The angry youths and villagers pounced on him heavily before he disappeared.
As they went to his house, they saw Photographs of people tied, padlocked and nailed in his shrine, most of them who were nailed are suffering strokes in real life.
The Youths Started breaking some of those keys and to the Glory of God, some that were tied in that shrine has started receiving their healing. A serving Deputy Controller of Prison in Lagos was among those tied in this now broken evil shrine”.

In what seems like sarcasm, the young man who resumed a new job in a company in Germany on Monday, November 1, shared a photo he took on a train during his commute.
In the picture, the seats around him were not taken and he disclosed that one of the things black people enjoy is that white people would never sit around them regardless of how packed the train is.

Celebrity barman, Cubana Chief Priest has reacted following the arrest of his former boss, Obi Cubana by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
It was earlier reported that popular club owner and Entrepreneur, Obinna Iyiegbu, otherwise known as Obi Cubana, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged money laundering.
According to reports, the chairman of Cubana groups arrived the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi, Abuja, at about noon on Monday and is currently being interrogated by operatives of the commission.
Reacting to the news of the arrest via his Instagram page, Cubana Chief Priest noted that the Igbo’s are used to this kind of probing.
He shared a photo of himself with his former boss and wrote,

Show promoter calls out Burna Boy over alleged extortion and refusal to perform at a show he was paid for
A show promoter has taken to social media to call out popular Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, for allegedly trying to extort him of 10,000 dollars.
The man, identified as @goldmoola, alleged that he paid the singer and his mum who doubles as his manager, Bose Ogulu, money to perform at a show in Houston, Texas, on Sunday, October 31st.
However before the event the singer’s mum requested for an additional sum of 10,000 dollars before the singer would ‘come downstairs’ to perform on stage.
According to the show promoter, when he realized that they were trying to extort him, he changed his mind about having the Grammy-award winner perform at his event and requested for a refund. He claims they refused to refund the money and snuck out of the venue.
Taking to his Instastory, the young man has now demanded for a refund from the self-acclaimed ‘African Giant’.

Climate Change: Buhari hailed by one of the richest men in the world, Jeff Bezos
American billionaire and founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos commended President Buhari’s leadership role in restoring degraded lands in the country during a climate change conference in Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday, November 1.
The COP26 side event themed, “Accelerating land restoration in Africa, the case of the Great Green Wall (GGW) initiative”, was attended by Jeff Bezos, President Buhari, French President Emmanuel Macron, Prince Charles and the Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.

Ikoyi building collapse: We have heard voices underground – NEMA official says (video)
An official of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Ibrahim, has stated that voices have been heard from under the rubbles of the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos state on Monday, November 1.
Ibrahim in an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday morning, November 2 noted that efforts are being made to rescue the people whose voices have been heard underground.
“Yesterday night we were able to recover another body. We now have five alive, four dead. We had a little break of about one to two hours. By the time we woke up, we were hearing voices underground and that is what we are now trying to do. The heavy weight on top, we want to bring them down to get to them. We have isolated their locations already and we are trying to get to them”. He said.

In other news, a video of a man being rescued alive from the ruins of the Ikoyi 21-storey building collapse at around 12am Tuesday morning, November 2, has been shared online.
The man who is one of the few survivors was identified as Mayowa Sunday. So far, about five adult male bodies have been recovered from the scene while the number of rescued persons has risen to four. Watch video here.

Nigerian human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the alleged arrest of billionaire businessman, Obi Cubana by EFCC.
It was earlier reported that the club owner has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged money laundering and tax fraud.
Deji Adeyanju who in July 2021 condemned the businessman for the grand funeral ceremony he held for his late mum, took to his Twitter handle to react. According to him, he had warned Obi Cubana to be careful but people mistook his warnings for jealousy.
“When I told Obi Cubana to be careful, some people said I was jealous of him. It’s still much better to be arrested by EFCC than FBI. He should be celebrating that it’s EFCC. Calm down Obi. It’s not serious for now but it could get worse”. He tweeted.
Recall that after Obi Iyiegbu, the chairman of Cubana Group held a Mega Burial ceremony for his mother at his hometown, Oba, Anambra State, months ago, the activist warned that Obi Cubana didn’t need to draw so much attention to himself

“It is mentally and emotionally draining to be Nigerian and be LGBT” – Gay Activist, Bisi Alimi cries out.
Nigerian Gay Activist Bisi Alimi, has taken to his social media page to bemoan the difficulty in being in the LGTBQI community as a Nigerian.

Do you know how mentally and emotionally draining it is to be a Nigerian and be LGBTQI?
Do you know how hard it is to use the public platform you have to help your friends promote their business cos you are gay?
The constant fear that they might lose customers or people might question their sexuality because a gay man dare support them.
Do you know how hard it is to decide not to take pictures with your friends and when you do, not to post the pictures because you don’t want to get them in trouble?
So if you have never ever have to second guess yourself about the little things you take for granted, then don’t tell me your homophobia is just an opinion
If you have never been in a state of anxiety just to let the know you admire the people you love, then don’t tell me, I am forcing anything down your throat
Because everyday you have an ugly opinion about my innocent beautiful life, is everyday you make me think twice to do the simple things you do without thinking
So homophobes, why are you scared to own your hatred?
What about being a hater is shameful to you?
Own it with your full chest. Wave the flag of your hatred and stop the camouflage under the pretence of opinion
Nigerian lecturer set to marry his former student (Photos)
A Nigerian lecturer who teaches at the Taraba State University, TSU, Francis Collins Somorija and his former student, Mercy Momboya are set to tie the nuptial knots on the 6th of November, 2021 in Yakoko, Zing Local Govt Area, Taraba.
The bride-to-be, with much excitement, took to her Facebook page to share their love story — according to her, when her former lecturer approached her and made an advance at her, she said she thought he was trying to take advantage of her, but his determination is what led them to where they are today.
She wrote,
MR.FRANCIS COLLINS SOMORIJA, MY DESTINED HUSBAND TO BE.
Today been 1-11-2021, I want to share a little story about Collins Francis Somorija my husband to be….
First of all Collins was my lecturer in Taraba state University TSU, Department of Sociology. Anyway it is funny but it is unique & it is will be in record that a Departmental lecturer married his student
I love that you have keep a record my lecturer turn husband…… Like joke like play when Collins open up to me he loves me seriously I thought he wanted to take advantage of me so, I was reluctant but he was so determined and trusting God that one day I will listen to him, Collins said I’m not going back to Adamawa this is the suitable place to stay.
When I agreed to his gentle request, I saw seriousness in him, though men are funny a times. They can change at anytime but in life u have to try someone no matter what
I love his zeal because he really knows what he wants,his patients makes him to achieve his goal today.
Secondly we have seen a lot of trials in our relationship but because I have a strong husband he always raised me up anytime I’m weak, he makes me stronger, he respects me before everyone, he denied alot of ladies because of me.
Thank you my love for making me special before everyone, he hate seeing me angry, men like you are rare u have most of the quality a woman will always pray to have u never give up u are a strong man indeed anytime I think of how u patiently waited for me is not all men that can tolerate that I love you I love you I love you Collins.
Finally I won’t forget all his relatives and friends most especially his parents, they welcomed me in that house as if I’m from Taraba state. They hate seeing me disturb n is what I prayed for God to Join me with in-laws that will love me n support us in our relationship not in-laws that will try to see our downfall..At last my Prayers is answered. thank you Jesus! I love you my in-laws may God keep us together and continue to unite us forever and ever amen.
Two certificates collected in Taraba state University is not easy. It has been God all the way and I will forever be grateful to God. All honour and glory belong to him.
