The final conversation between a 100 level Chemical Engineering student of the University of Port Harcourt, Hilkmat Gbadamosi and a friend before she took her own life has surfaced online.
In the chat, Hilkmat was advised by her friend to stay away from a particular guy – probably her boyfriend – before she was later invited for a fellowship which she said she would have loved to attend if she would be alive the next day.
According to reports, Hilkmat had been battling a medical condition since birth and the resulting pain sent her into depression. Before her death, she was complaining that the pain has refused to go away although she clearly did not specify the cause of the pain.
However, other sources said she committed suicide because her boyfriend left her. Neighbour said she might have died since Saturday as they did not see her on Sunday and on Monday afternoon.
Her body has been deposited to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.
She didn’t do well. What on earth would let u into commiting suicide? So sad!
Olaiyan was very irresponsible and insensitive to having been informed so clearly of her friends intention to commit suicide, still could not do anything better than inviting her to fellowship.

It requires God intervention for someone who has suicidal thought at night …no will of his or her own cus by that time your body coupled with your spirit is weak ….I can’t say for sure but her decision was wrong ..oh what a waste

Depression is a disease!! You would be surprised what extreme depression does to someone.
She was already depressed as a result of her illness. All it took was another traumatic incident to push her over the edge.
In Nigeria we don’t take depression seriously. She was going through immense pain,both physically and emotionally.Yet she appeared normal outside, so people did not notice anything.
Anybody that complains of depression should seek medical advice immediately.
There are drugs that could temporarily remove you from that state. A change in environment, Exercise and constant company with friends/family helps a lot. YOU SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT ALONE TO TACKLE EXTREME DEPRESSION.
Victims that are weak minded contemplate suicide. They are never really in their right minds when they do it.
