Veteran Nollywood actor, Segun Arinze has described how, more than 30 years ago, he earned his first N1000 working as a voice actor.

The well-known actor claimed that in 1987, when he was just 21 years old, he received his first voice-over assignment and his first paycheck.

In a recent interview with Biola Bayo for the “TalktoB” podcast, Segun Arinze revealed that he was able to secure the voice-over job thanks to well-known broadcaster Soni Irabor.

The 58-year-old movie actor said that Irabor was the one who first introduced him to voice acting when he talked about the history of his venture into the voice-over business.

He said; “Soni Irabor walked in someday and he was looking for a voice-over artiste. There was nobody around that day then he heard me speak.

Then he said ‘You can do the voice’ Really? I cannot, he said ‘Yes, you can and I will see what you do’. And I did the voice-over. He paid me N1000. That was 1987. N1000 for just doing (voice-over). I said this is big. Coloured TV was N500 at that time.”
