Popular singer, Chukwuka EKweani, professionally known as Ckay, has sparked a debate online after he spoke on the influence of his senior colleagues, Runtown and Tekno in the Nigerian music industry.

He claimed that the duo’s music opened the door for musicians like him, Oxlade, and Rema to perform their brand of Afrobeats on a global scale.

According to Ckay, many people were aware of this but were hesitant to bring it up, which is why he thinks there will come a time when it will be necessary to do so.

The Love Nwantiti crooner took to his Twitter page today, June 16 to make the statement.

He tweeted; “One day we’re going to sit down and talk about how tekno and runtown’s music paved the way for songs like love nwantiti, emiliana, ku lo sa & calm down…”

In other news, popular Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known as Odumodublvck, has recounted how he was hospitalized and almost lost his life a few days before his fame.

Odumodublvck made the revelation while speaking on the latest episode of popular singer Joeboy’s Body & Soul podcast.

The rapper disclosed that he almost died following an accident that led to major surgery, with about 16 stitches in his mouth.

Despite the challenges, Odumodublvck expressed that his life took a turn for the better when Grammy-winning artist Wizkid shared his song “Picanto” on social media. Coincidentally, it was also the day he was discharged from the hospital.

Recalling that morning, Odumodublvck mentioned waking up to numerous messages, including one from Wizkid, and feeling that God had spared him for a purpose.
