Nigerian author and public speaker, Japheth Omojuwa, has said that there is nothing wrong in parents seeing their children as their retirement plan.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Tuesday, February 22, the social commentator said it’s okay for parents to see their children as their retirement plan because they sacrifice a lot for their children’s success.
“There is NOTHING wrong in your parents seeing you as their retirement plan. And some of you had better not forget the homes you came from just for twitter banter. Don’t get carried away. They sacrificed everything for your success. You are their retirement plan.” He wrote.
Meanwhile, Nigerian Blogger and fashion expert, Noble Igwe, opined that Parents should stop using their children as a retirement plan as the pressure is becoming too much.
His tweet reads,
“The biggest scam ever invented by parents was/ is making their children send them money in their own age.I repeat, you don’t owe your parents anything. They were here before you and should have prepared for old age. Parents are always taking and taking . Stop the pressure!”
