Nigerian rapper, Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has asserted that legendary singer, Wizkid was the one who introduced Afrobeats to the globe.

According to the rapper dubbed “Best Rapper in Africa,” Afrobeats gained enormous popularity with Wizkid’s 2020 release of the smash song “Essence,” which featured Tems.

In a recent interview with American publication KTLA, Blaqbonez stated that the song’s message to the globe was to alert people to watch out for African music.

He said:

“Afrobeats took a massive leap when Wizkid dropped Essence and it went craazy. It just told the world Afrobeats is something you really have to watch. Crazy things are happening right now for Afrobeats. More talented artistes are coming up.”

In other news, Nigerian singer Terry G has opened up about his loner nature, revealing that he has never had friends throughout his life, both within and outside the music industry.

In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, the “Akpako Master” clarified that he lacks close relationships with his colleagues, attributing it partially to his personality.

Terry G expressed: I have never had friends, not just in the music industry but my entire life. I am a loner.

The singer disclosed that he primarily spends his time at the studio and mainly engages with business associates rather than forming personal connections.
