A woman recounted how her husband remained committed to marrying her despite unexpected demands from her family during her bride price payment.
According to the woman, her parents had initially guided her husband on how to approach and relate to his prospective in-laws before the marriage process.
However, things reportedly took an unexpected turn when the extended family insisted that every item on the marriage list must be provided three times.
The development reportedly upset her husband’s family, who felt her relatives were taking their demands too far. They consequently advised him to walk away from the marriage arrangement.
To her surprise, her man refused to back out of the commitment he had made to her and her parents.
She explained that her husband insisted he would not go back on his promise, despite the unexpected demands and pressure from his family.
He eventually fulfilled the marriage requirements, and the couple went ahead with their wedding.
Reflecting on the experience, the woman acknowledged that family involvement in marriage processes can sometimes make things unnecessarily complicated, adding humorously, “Our families too do sha.”
