Singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has responded after a social media user questioned whether his children could speak Igbo.
The conversation began on X, formerly known as Twitter, after the singer shared that watching his children speak French effortlessly while in Paris made him consider owning a home there.
Reacting to the post, a follower asked, “Hope they can speak Igbo, too?”
Peter, however, dismissed the concern, asking, “And who Naija language help? Make I hear word abeg.”
His response sparked mixed reactions online, with some social media users arguing that teaching children their native language helps preserve culture and identity.
As criticism continued, the singer doubled down, telling critics to “mind your business” and stressing that what languages his children speak is a personal family decision.
He added that people should teach their own children whatever languages they deem fit, questioning how his children’s ability to speak Nigerian languages would improve anyone else’s life.
