A man has sparked a conversation online after revealing that a colleague he has worked with for about three years did not inform him when his wife gave birth last year.
According to him, the colleague told almost everyone at their workplace about his newborn baby, except him. He learnt about the birth only through conversations with other colleagues.
The man said that whenever the colleague calls him while he is at home and he hears a child crying in the background, he deliberately avoids asking whose child it is.
Explaining his position, he said he operates on a simple principle: if someone doesn’t tell him something, he will not ask about it.
He, however, sought people’s opinions on whether his decision to maintain that stance makes him petty or whether he should let the situation go.
His account has sparked conversations about workplace relationships and whether colleagues should feel obligated to share personal milestones.
Some Twitter users insisted the man should remain ignorant since he wasn’t informed about the childbirth. Others claimed his job was more important than a colleague’s family.
Online users alleged the man and his colleague might be having work-related issues.
