A young lady has cried out over being unpaid for six months during her internship. In a video she shared online, she reveals that she’s worked diligently as an intern for six months, but has never been paid.

Some of her colleagues always received their pay at the end of every month, but when she and others go to ask why theirs is not coming in, they are showered with many excuses. She wearily states that it’s not as if she begged for the internship; she wrote the exams and passed. How long do they expect her and other unpaid interns to keep b3gging their parents for financial support? Some of her mates have had up to a million in their accounts, while she has no naira to account for.

Her reasons for sharing this are not to complain, she says. She is coming out with this so people would be aware of what many young professionals go through silently.

“Nigeria is so messed up. I’m also Med lab scientist. I got my appointment letter in October 2020, we got our 1st salary in May 2021 and guess what? we got paid 18k like eighteen thousand naira 😂. We protested at the hospital gate, nothing was done, next thing the CMD claimed he got a thr3atening message and proceeded to suspend us. We contributed money and sent some people to Abuja to protest at the senate house. We started receiving our arrears in December 2021 that is more than 1year after getting our appointment letter. It is well my dear”, a lady reacted.
