Akin Alabi, Nairabet CEO and House Of Reps Member-elect has stated that the man who rejected a house offer for a borehole in his community didn’t make a wise decision.

Recall that it was reported yesterday that a gateman has rejected a house offer as a parting gift from his boss whom he served for 25 years. He, instead, requested that a borehole be sunk for his community which he said lacked water. Usman, who had served the Indian national, Mr. V. Verghese, who is also the Managing Director of a pharmaceutical company, Jawa International Limited in Lagos, for 25 years, left the service in order to reunite with his family in the village.

When Usman was leaving, Verghese offered to build a house for him to appreciate his diligence while he was his gateman. He however opted for a borehole in his community.

Akin Alabi who reacted to report admitted that it was selfless, but however stated that it was not a wise decision because he could have collected the house, sell it and sink multiple boreholes. He wrote;

Selfless decision but not very wise. Collect the house, sell it and sink multiple boreholes. The suggestion is not in the verbatim. With some critical thinking, he would have gotten a better deal.

Who is talking about chasing money? We are still on the charity level. Maybe he would have gotten two boreholes. Maybe a borehole and repair of village classroom. Boss was ready to build a house. He could have gotten more for his people with deeper thinking.

  1. For me hausa man decision is good to help the masses, but he would have collect the house gift first and am very sure his boss will sink a bolehole in his compand and he will run it out to the people with pipe.

  2. akin alabi, do you know how much it cost to sink borehole in the north? if you know how much it cost then you would know the man made a wise decision. By the way you know the kind house wey the man want build for am in the first place? you wey be nairabet CEO wey Don empty millions of people life savings and give token to few winners, was elected into the house of representatives, but this gateman wey serve him boss diligently and watched over his property for 25yrs wey supposed say make them build house for am but looked beyond that and see say him community dey suffer water come say make them sink borehole for him people, instead wey you go hail the man and even encourage am u dey there dey yarn bombo. Everything no be business always. Na em likes them need for federal house of representatives not you…

  3. selfless service but not the best decision, take the house then sell it to build multiple boreholes. Is a great sacrifice anyway.

  4. Everybody is write but the question is. Does the man had knowledge of selling the house.(NO). SO WE CANT BLAME HIM AND the man did it with his heart

  5. am not surprise cos its u kind of people jeopardizing the d nation that why u set a scam thing nairabet to make our youth lazy slap on ur face

  6. How about having had to collect the house which probably would have had a borehole inside and he could then let the villagers fetch free? Selfless indeed but not smart. A laborer is worthy of his wages. People may oppose my thinking, but truth is, he should have collected it, except maybe he had another building we dnt knw about. Did he think about his family, it would have been a good retirement benefit. Everyone may be applauding him for that decision but smwer, we know it was neither wise nor smart. Finally, maybe derz more to his decision than community service

  7. Mr Oloye, that guy, just won the World for himself. Look u, what did you know about pain is Gain…?

  8. Mr Oloye, that guy, just won the World for himself. Look u, what did you know about pain is Gain…? That decision, can attract more from the world not only His Boss. Thanks

  9. That man is rare in our clime. If he had asked for the house his story would not have become a talking point.Such altruistic disposition is inspiring. He will still get his reward shortly.

  10. His decision is going because may be he hadn’t idea about borehole he do not know where he reached borehole company because he is villager

  11. If akinalabi doesn’t know that having a borehole in north is like having a daily income.
The man knows that water is a necessity in north if you experience dry season for north you will know that man made right choice..
    Choosing borehole over house means..
There will be generator to power the water supplication and also water sellers will come and buy.
Remember nobody is paying the man again so the borehole is a life saver..

  12. the make a wrong decision because he would have collected the house and request for the boss to help his community by Sunkin a boreholle for charity request.

  13. the make a wrong decision because he would have collected the house and request for the boss to help his community by Sunkin a boreholle for charity request.

how much it would cost to sunk borehole just 300,00/or 360,000,but house will cost almost a million five hundred thousand so I prefer for the man to aceipt the house offer.

  14. please stop attacking oloye personality, he only made his own view know, everyone has freedom to think in his/her own wisdom and reasoning……. the man made de best decision down his heart which he will always be joyous about,Humanity first and everything will fall in place if done with pure mind cos everything ends at 6fts

  15. Akinalabi just exposed his ignorance. How much is a house worth in such an environment?
Will he buy a house at such a place?
That borehole was worth more than a house….. Come to think of it, I would not expect a scammer to understand what selflessness meant.
Shame to have a someone like that in the house of the people.

  16. This man has made selfless service to his community and history will judge him right. However l wish to appeal to government, philanthropists, and well meaning Nigerians to reward this man with a house gift.

  17. you are the one who fail to think, if not the man take a wise decision, if the house was built in his village who is going to buy it, i wonder kind of law you will make for Nigeria

    I don’t see,anything wrong with wat he did…..
He,choosing clean water over house, was a very smart move, bcus their future generations will surely enjoy n profit from it.

  19. the issue is that if para venture the house was built in that typical village,if he wants to sell the house for instance. How much will the house worth in that village..that house can be on sale for 20 years without anybody pricing it. the gateman decision is 100% okay for letting his boss to sink borehole in his community..

  20. Cast your bread into the ocean! The selfless man has just done what God demanded from the faithful one has one the medal for himself everything is not about money Hon. Little kindness of love is enough to make the world a better place sir.

  21. Who would have bought the house in the middle of nowhere? And for how much? Akin Alabi give a little from your plenty, dash the man a house and God will reward you abundantly.

  22. I’m surprised that the so called Mr Alabi can say this..
it shows how humanitarian cares concern him..
he has forgotten as well that fulfillment is not a function of houses, cars , companies e. t .c..
If you can serve people wisely shut up and stop convincing people with your greediness..

  23. It’s seem uve not been to the north to experience the hardship of water scarcity treking long distance to get water! This man am sure has experience such n thought it wise to relieve not just himself but the entire village! We need leaders with such selfless attribute in this country! Leaders dat understand wat d masses are passing through n are ready to go extra mile just for the masses not leaders dat are always looking for a beta deal!
