A man has come out to call off the bluff of people who praised their boarding schooling experiences for shaping them. According to him parents should not send their kids there because the downsides are way more than the upside; highlighting that decades after, he still dreams about his boarding house, still eats so fast, and finds it difficult to miss his family or friends.

Siting the culture of bullying that comes with the experience, he critiqued how it becomes the “normal” of the students, and the never-ending viscous circle of bullied juniors aiming to unleash vendetta when they become seniors. Adding that teenagers were made to wake up by 5:30 am with the knowing that no matter how well-behaved they get, there is always one punishment, cutlass, cane, belt, hanger or chain lurking somewhere. A student is either sitting on his/her head, hanging on the wall, frog-jumping, rolling in the mud, giving up your provisions to seniors, and being given ₦100 to get something of ₦500 and return a balance of ₦200

He added that those who share the sentiment that boarding schooling was one of the best years of their lives are the minority in the large ethos. Not to downplay their experiences, he asserted that the upsides of the institution don’t beat the downside. And if parents do not wish to raise children with traumas, they should avoid sending them to boarding houses.

He called himself anti-boarding school and concluded that he would continue to advocate against it for those who care to listen.
