A Nigerian man has shared on the microblogging platform X, a screenshot of the message he received from his tertiary institution after making payment for a convocation gown.

The man who is about to graduate from the University of Lagos said he just made payments yesterday, only to receive the message today.

He was informed via message that the distribution of academic gowns had been suspended because the remaining gowns were stolen and the institution bus was vandalized.

The young man who had looked forward to his graduation day was sad to receive such information from the institution.

According to some comments underneath the post, it is clear that the majority of the people graduating received the sad news.

Below are some of the comments,

@AdenijiOluwat17: Boss we dey the same shoes I weak when I see d message 😂

@DrJohnBishop: They didn’t even mention a refund! And if you ask they will gaslight you. The scam is real!

@Orguy: Toh. No wahala. Refund please, thanks. And to Unilag, na ‘Graduand’ and not ‘Graduate’😮‍💨

@Gathyinsights: Graduation gowns stolen in this Lagos? Hmmm, this is more than we’re thinking. They should refund then

@jidennaofficial: Thank God I’ve not paid. I was contemplating paying although our class governor told us to pay for only the convocation fee of 30k so that we can rent gowns and snap pictures.
