Toyin Aimakhu and Adeniyi Johnson may be looking to still live together as husband and wife – or so hopeful fans think, and this is because the duo who separated years ago are still legally married.
Recall that their relationship packed up in 2015 following rumours that the actor cheated on her. The duo moved on to date other people, with Toyin getting into yet-another disastrous relationship with filmmaker Seun Egbede of Golden Effects Films who is presently in prison on fraud charges.
Many people assumed that Toyin and Adeniyi were legally over, until this latest report from SDK, which cited a source close to the duo, saying that the actors are still married.
According to this source, Toyin filed for divorce but when her lawyers reached out to the actor last year, he hesitated, saying he needed to consult people before going ahead with the decision to dissolve their relationship. He had yet to respond to the suit as at press time.
Here’s what the source said:
“Toyin’s Lawyer had called Niyi to finalise the divorce. Instead of Niyi’s lawyer contacting Toyin’s, Niyi showed up at the meeting alone without his lawyer at the mall in Ikeja. After deliberations and discussions, Niyi said he would like to consult some people first and he should be allowed to get in touch with his lawyer and agreed to get back to them. When they didn’t hear from him, Toyin tried reaching out to him personally to sort the issue but as we speak Toyin is yet to hear from him as well.”
The blog added that the former couple are “showing signs of reconciliation.”
