A Nigerian man identified as Abiola has narrated the strange accusation he was charged with when he was giving out free sanitary pads to kids.

According to him, the parents of the young girls accused him of attempting to use their kids for ritual so he was forced to stop his humanitarian act.

He disclosed this on the microblogging platform, Twitter in response to a tweet from a Nigerian doctor named Sina, who bemoaned the growing cost of towels and sanitary products.

Doctor Sina wrote;

“Menstrual pads and sanitary towels for ladies are now so expensive. They need to be subsidized, or made free.
Hearing stories of people reusing pads because they cannot afford new ones is heartbreaking.
For context
At an outreach, we subsequently interacted with young ladies some affirmed that they actually wash those pads and reuse them, some said they have cut towels they use and re wash and dry and use as pads since they cannot afford the normal sanitary pads”

Reacting to this, Abiola shared his experience with the parents, he wrote;

“I started giving free menstrual pads in 2019 but had to stop it last year when parents said we are trying to use their kids for rituals.”
