A Pakistani man has admitted the murdering of his younger sister in an ‘honour killing’ because she married a Christian man.

Mubeen Rajhu, 24, from Lahore, shot Tasleem, 18, in the head at home in August after he discovered his Muslim sister had defied the family and married a Christian.

He had been taunted by co-workers who had seen Tasleem in their neighbourhood with the man. Rajhu, who is from a poor neighbourhood on the northern edge of Lahore, is being held by police.

He said he had demanded that his sister swear on the Quran that she would never marry the man.

He said:

‘I told her I would have no face to show at the mill, to show to my neighbors, so don’t do it. Don’t do it. But she wouldn’t listen.

‘I could not let it go. It was all I could think about. I had to kill her. There was no choice. There was no yelling, no shouting. I just shot her dead.’

Ali Raza, a co-worker at the mill, said the taunting of Rajhu about his sister had gone on for months.

He said:

‘He used to tell us, “If you don’t stop, I will kill myself. Stop!” The guys here told him, “It would be better to kill your sister”.’

Raza said Rajhu told them he had bought a pistol and one day in August stopped coming to work. However, Tasleem’s father Mohammed Naseer Rajhu puts the blame on his daughter.

Daily Mail reports he said:

‘My family is destroyed. Everything is destroyed only because of this shameful girl. Even after death I am destroyed because of her.’

The number of ‘honour killings‘ in Pakistan has increased over the past few years. According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, 1,184 people were killed in 2015, compared to 869 in 2013.

    • Please direct your trouble to other person and I don’t even understand your write up. Religious war I’m not among because I don’t worship religion I worship the living God and to me Christianity is not a religion but a way of life, its is called ZOE (the God kind of life). I don’t have to quarrel anyone because of God he is too big for anyone to fight for him rather he will fight your battle if you call upon him.   40. Before you criticise the entire Muslims in the world make sure you’ve read the qur’an or discussed with enlightened Muslims. Just like the bible and every other holy book the qur’an has been misinterpreted by a lot of people for selfish reasons.Last time I checked Rev King burnt members of his church.Prophet Bishiru is selling the blood of Jesus for $2000.Some Christian denominations are forbidden to marry from another denomination. It’s not a Muslim thing,it’s the orientation and it’s in every religion even in Christianity!

  66. Yes I understand she is A Muslim and married someone else who.isn’t it. Maybe she didn’t want to married one of her kind. What was she left to do…. stay single for the rest of her life. Well it happen already and we can’t bring her back to life. It’s sad for the grieving family indeed.
