Popular Nollywood actor, Adewale Alebiosu, has refuted the belief that actors are adequately compensated for their roles in films.

This comes after actress Jaiye Kuti’s Instagram video, where she criticized the trend of veteran actors resorting to begging for financial help on social media.

Kuti cautioned her older colleagues against tarnishing the reputation of the Yoruba film industry and accused them of not planning for their future during their younger days.

Responding to Kuti’s comments in a video making the rounds online, Alebiosu asserted that the accusation was unfounded, citing instances where actors are often underpaid.

To support his argument, he shared a personal experience. Alebiosu recounted a time when he was paid a mere N3,000 for 11 scenes in a movie.

According to him, it was just a few days till Christmas, and he had hoped to earn enough to support his family.

He stated that after getting the N3,000, he boarded a bus and cried uncontrollably till he arrived home.

“I was paid just N3,000 for 11 scenes. I boarded a bus and cried uncontrollably till I arrived home,he recounted.

In other news, a trending video of Nigerian chef Damilola Adeparusi, better known as Chef Dammy, fetching water from a well has stirred reactions on social media.

The chef, who’s an undergraduate student at the Federal University of Oye Ekiti, gained widespread recognition after she attempted a 120-hour cook-a-thon a few weeks ago.

After the attempt, which she later made clear was not to break any records but was done for her love of cooking, she was spotted in public on different occasions with security details.

Every interview she attended after the event was in the company of a body guard, and at the time it stirred reactions from Nigerians on social media who queried the need for a body guard.

Well, it appears chef Dammy has now gone back to her regular student life, as a recent video of her that surfaced on the internet showed her fetching water from a well without her bodyguards. Watch video here.
