“I’m about to be a father” – Bisi Alimi announces as he shares his interesting journey to fatherhood

Bisi Alimi announces

Gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi has taken to social media to announce that he’s about to adopt a child with his husband, Anthony Davis.

 Bisi Alimi announces

In the lengthy thread he shared on Twitter, Bisi shared the detailed process that went into their decision to adopt a child, instead of doing surrogacy.

According to him, he was scared that his Nigerian family members might not accept his child or children because of his sexuality.

However, he said they’ve finally concluded on the decision to adopt and have acquired a bigger home in preparation for their kids.

Our journey to adoption; a Thread
*****************************
2yrs ago, husband and I after several weeks of deliberation decided to adopt. There are options opened to us, including surrogacy.

When we met we actually said if we don’t have a child/children by the time we are 45years we should forget it. On the eve of my 45th birthday, we had the conversation again and this time there was still that nagging question, biological children or adoption or a mixture of both.

We have few friends offering to help, but we also have many people asking us for help. However, there is a bigger issue, as a Black Africa man and listening to conversations about adoption and adopted children while growing up in Nigeria, I was not sure if adoption will “other”my children. As a gay man, I am already dealing with bullshit.

One day at an event in the city, I met a very nice mid-career Black gay man, let’s call him Tom. We were just the two Black gay men at the event. I guess that made us connect even more. Tom and I got so close after months of chatting and meeting for drinks. He told me about his husband and children and how wonderful they all are, but he didn’t tell me two things.

After we became really close, I asked about his children and that we have been considering expanding our family and not sure if we should adopt or go the surrogacy way. Then he opened up to me; it was not just that Tom’s two sons are adopted, he was also adopted and has become a very strong advocate for encouraging Black queer families to adopt.

I rushed home and told my husband about this, this chat with Tom helped but still leaves room for more questions. I guess the biggest was “what will my family say?”. These are group of people who already came to the conclusion I am a disappointment. I know I can deal with their hate, but am I at the point where my children can see their grandparents? Will I be comfortable to introduce them to their cousins, aunties and uncles?

I don’t want to raise my kids away from my history, my journey, my truth. I want them to know me and be proud of me, but I also don’t want to expose them to people questioning them.

After many thoughts and support from many close friends, husband and I decided to adopt, and this means we have to open ourselves up to scrutiny. Everyone told us to be ready for the invasion of our privacy by the state.

We wrote to @adoptlondonuk and within few days got a reply and were invited for few sessions. After that we had to make up our mind if this is what we wanted.

By this time I was moving really fast to 46, and then my husband for no reason suddenly developed cold feet, he became scared and thought it was a bad idea; we are two very busy people, we can’t make this work.

I am also a man of little faith, I wanted him to give me reasons why we shouldn’t do this and I will jump on it, and he did. But the funny thing is. We did too late.

There was also the question around age, if we are going to adopt, I wanted a baby or a toddler as I am very nurturing but husband wants slightly grown up.

While we were thinking about this, we told my mother-in-law who lives in Australia. Well, the thing is, she has three kids, my husband being the first. The other two, a boy and a girl have made it very clear, they don’t want kids.

The announcement that we are thinking of having kids got my mother in law excited and over the moon, I still remember clearly what she said “who would have thought that it is the gay that will give me grandchildren”

We had a good laugh over that, but we also silently live with the guilt of not delivering and how disappointed she will be. We reached out to Tom who by now is our adoption mentor.

Few days after the chat with Tom, we wrote to the agency saying we want to do this. We were sent forms and all to fill, and we did. Few weeks back, we got the email assigning our case worker to us. We were over the moon.

This week we will meet our case worker for home inspection. Just to be clear, we had to buy a new house so we can have a bigger space for our kids

Why am I sharing this? To be honest I have no clue, I am just sitting here having dinner and thinking about this and getting really excited and teary and maybe this is just my own way of therapy and support.

As a gay man from Nigeria, I never thought I could find love, marry, and now about to be a father without having to at any point deny who I am or lie to anyone.

To the baby on the way, dads can’t wait. To people looking to adopt, please do it. To Black Africans in the U.K. there are many Black kids looking for forever home, we should stop allowing tradition to deny them of that joy.

We are the one that can change this blockage culture and tradition is causing for Black kids and keeping them in a system of care that do them no good.

“Rivers state government did not pay Burna Boy for homecoming concert” – Burna Boy’s Mother, Bose Ogulu

Bose Ogulu, mother and manager of Grammy award winner, Burna Boy, has revealed he wasn’t paid by the Rivers State government for his state-sponsored Homecoming concert.

Bose who confirmed other artistes who performed at the event were paid, stated that her son received no monetary gift because the event was organized to honor him for his Grammy win.

She made this revelation in an interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on his Rubbin’ Mind show.

In her words,

“Money was not paid to him but it was paid to everybody else. It was paid to everybody else that went there to perform but it was not paid to him. They were honouring him, he was not paid to be there. For want for a better word, as my people say, it is only a bastard that refuses honour in his father’s house.

“For me, I do not really pay too much attention to such because I was really busy and that is the honest truth. The facts are very clear, this man was honoured because he got the highest award in his field, in the world.

“He was honoured because he brought that award home. Why did he get that award? Making the same music that speaks the truth. So I do not think anybody was trying to buy him to their side.

I think it is clear to everyone that the man would always make the music he wants to make- whether it is for fans or whatever. He will continue to do that.

It was not a deal or a case of ‘let us honour you and you will not abuse us again.’ That did not come into the conversation. I think, in the case of Rivers State, it was very wise that it was done because if any other state had done it before Rivers, it would have been shocking.” She added.

Burna Boy‘s homecoming concert in honour of his Grammy award win was held March 27th, in Rivers state.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the “Ye” crooner was gifted a land in Old GRA, Port Harcourt and also money to build by the state’s Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Governor Wike also promised to give artistes who performed at Burna’s Homecoming Concert in Rivers State N10 million each.

Lady shares how she dumped a guy who only said “oh wow” when she told him her problem

A Nigerian lady on Twitter has told fellow women not to settle for an inactive man who’s not able to proffer solutions to their problems when needed.

Twitter user, @ozzyetomi shared her experience on the social networking app with a guy she was seeing at a particular time who failed in being a solution provider and as such, she had to cut him off.

She shared that on a particular day, she was driving to go and meet her said boyfriend and on the way, she encountered a problem with her car and so she called him, to share what had happened and all he could say was “oh wow”.

She was eventually rescued by some street guys who helped her with a local mechanic. Here’s what she shared below,

Lmao i rem when I first moved back and I was seeing this guy, I was driving to hang with him and suddenly my car stops. I had kinda just started driving so i was so nervous. I was close to his so i text him saying my car had stopped, and he replied saying “o wow” & that was it 😂

Some street side guys had to call some roadside mechanic for me who helped me sort out whatever the issue was. Dude text me “are you still coming?” and I just drove my ass back home and that, as they say, was that.

Theres two types of people in this world. The “oh wows” and the “let me sort it out”. One time when my friend & I’s flight got unceremoniously cancelled, she called her man to tell him. Before we could say jack robinson, mans got 2 tickets for us on another airline.

I refunded my bit of course but it was the thoughtfulness and the action for meee. So ladies, don’t settle for an “oh wow” ass nigga, get you a “sort it out” nigga. Cos effort is sexy.

“It’s ignorant how we expect poor people to live a righteous life in this country” – Actress, Ifemeludike

Ifemeludike

Nigerian actress, Chioma Grace Ifemeludike has opined that it is not plausible for poor people to live a righteous life.

Ifemeludike

The actress took to her IG page to share her thoughts. According to her, it is insensitive to preach repentance to a poverty-ridden man who doesn’t know where his next meal will come from.

She bemoaned the current situation of Nigeria and questioned if true salvation can ever be gotten in a rotten society.

Here’s what she wrote,

“It’s quite ignorant how we expect that poor people should live a righteous life in this country. Person wey never chop na potential criminal, how can you preach repentance to someone that has no job, no food, wears rags, underpaid, lives in the ghetto(slum) without any physical solutions in sight, you just expecting them to give their lives to Christ when they know that someone somewhere is stealing their collective wealth!!! I laugh in Swahili”

“The reason why we are just religious without really being Christ like(christians) is that we are not telling ourselves the truth. How can you preach salvation to a youth who graduated since 2015 without a job, no government support, starts a business but can’t sustain it because the burden of taking care of his parents, siblings and himself is on the neck of a 23 years old! How??? In a society where Children are now bread winners because one greedy polithieftian has looted their parents pension… How do you preach repentance to the victims and not the culprits??? How do you convince a youth not to get involved in crime while he watches his mother die of an illness that money could have solved??? How do you preach to a 15 years old girl child to stop prostitution when she watches hunger beat her younger ones mercilessly??? How!? Until we identify they people who have shortchanged our lives and values we may be preaching to the Wrong congregation… Can true salvation be gotten in a rotten society??? Hoodlums, yahoo yahoos, bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, militants, run girls association , baby mamas club etc. Are they results you get after looting💰our common wealth for over 60years…”

Man jailed for 33 years for raping and infecting 9-year-old niece with HIV

A 24-year-old Zimbabwean man has been sentenced to 33 years in prison for raping his 9-year-old grade-three niece and also infecting her with HIV.

The man who has been staying at the same house with his sister and her children, reportedly took advantage of his sister’s absence to rape his niece on multiple occasions between March and April.

It was heard by the court that the pervert uncle would sneak into the room where his nieces were sleeping and would rape the 9-year-old. The 9-year-old shared the room with her younger sisters aged four and two.

The sad abuses was uncovered after the little girl refused to sleep in the room. When her older sister questioned about the reluctance, the 9-year-old revealed that the uncle was raping her.

The case was reported to the police and a medical test which was carried out thereafter, revealed that the minor has been infected with HIV.

When arraigned before Regional Magistrate Mr Christopher Maturure on two counts of raping his niece and one count of deliberately infecting her with HIV, the man pleaded not guilty and made a spirited attempt to deny the charges. However his subterfuge did not work, and the magistrate found him guilty after a full trial.

The magistrate had no kind words for the uncle who abused his position of trust to prey on his sister’s child. He said that his sentence should serve as a deterrence to other like-minded would-be offenders and sentenced him to 33 years in prison.

The Chronicle reported that Maturure said,

“Her life has totally changed because of your actions. For rape you are sentenced to 18 years and deliberately infecting the complainant, 15 years.”

“I have no sympathy for single mothers unless they were raped or widowed, unless…” – Reno Omokri

Claiming that the Black world faces a baby mama epidemic, Reno stated that it must not be encouraged.

Except she was raped, or widowed, I have zero sympathy for single mothers. The Black world faces a baby mama epidemic. We must not encourage it, or make celebrities out of bleached, surgically enhanced Jezebels who are unashamed of their whoredom!

Reno recently opined that people shouldn’t make luxury purchases or fly first class, if they don’t own a house.

“What my husband told me before his death” – Dare Adeboye’s wife, Temiloluwa opens up

Temiloluwa Adeboye, wife of late Pastor Dare Adeboye, has shared the last conversations she had with her husband before his death.

According to the bereaved wife, her husband was not afraid of death, as he lived an upright life and she’s certain he’s in heaven.

She revealed her husband told her before his death that if he died, he knew he was fulfilled because he had done what the Lord asked him to do.

Temiloluwa made this revelation on Monday, at the evening of worship and tribute in honour of the late clergy man, which held at the RCCG, House Of Favour, Redemption Camp.

She said,

“Pastor Dare, my husband was a wonderful person. He was amazing in every sense of the way. I do not mourn him at all; I weep because he left me. He slept, he did not die. And I know, I am sure, because on the resurrection morning, he will rise again and we will see him in glory.

“I am sure because he was saved. I am sure because he believed in Christ, his salvation was sure, it was certain.

“He said if I die today, I know I am fulfilled, I have done what the Lord has asked me to do, he was not afraid of death. He was not afraid. It is not a matter of time but how well and he lived a good life, he lived to the glory of God. He lived, he served God. His life was dedicated to Christ and that is why I am sure that he is heaven.

“I am sure that he made it. And I want to say brethren today, if you are not sure of your salvation. If you are not sure that if you sleep tonight, you might not wake up tomorrow, you are not sure of where you will be in eternity. If you have not yet given your life to Christ, if you are here today to see because you heard. Yes, it is true; he is sleeping in the Lord but are you sure of yourself, are you sure of where you will be? Are you sure of where you will be?” She added.

Recounting their ordeal, Bishara told GMA3;

“I remember thinking about what my mum would do at that moment then I prayed. I just remembered a voice in my head saying ‘jump out’. I knew I was going to die either way. I chose to die and that was how I jumped out.”

On how she felt the day she graduated, Bishara said;

“It was awesome, I felt great. I remember being told that I wasn’t going to be able to finish high school; that I was dumb. I never gave up or listened to all the negative talks. It was exciting to walk on that stage after being told ‘you can’t do it’.”
