A video making the rounds on social media captured the moment members of Ogidi community in Anambra state flogged a young man for assaulting his mum.
According to reports gathered, the young man identified as Sunday Maduegbunam Kosisochukwu was seen in an earlier video beating up his mother and shoving her around.
Sunday’s act was deemed abominable by the youths in the community and he was confronted to confirm he is the one in the video.
The young man was then tied to a tree and whipped publicly.
Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency raided some eateries in Jos, the Plateau state capital where freshly baked cakes made with cannabis sativa were recovered in addition to 48.726kilogrammes of assorted psychotropic substances.
Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who revealed this in a statement on Monday, May 3, revealed that some of the drug joints raided include KNL Lounge located along Lamingo road and another branch along Mining Quarters, Rantya Low Cost estate, as well as Tuscany Lounge on Azaki Ave, all within Jos metropolis.
Beside the drugged cakes called brownie recovered from the three eateries, psychotropic substances also seized from there include: Barcadin Codeine 14kg; Flunitrazapem 355.5grammes; Tramadol 370.1 grammes; Exol-5, 30kg; Diazepam 2.5kg and Pentazocine 1.5 kg, totalling 48.726kg. The Plateau Commander, Ibrahim Braji disclosed that five persons have so far been arrested in connection to the seized drugs.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Niger state Command of the Agency have arrested a 24-year-old 400-level student of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Abel Godwin Idio for selling two strong variants of cannabis, Arizona and loud, concealed in textbooks. He was arrested in Gidan Kwano within the vicinity of the university.
According to the state Commander of the Agency, Haruna Kwetishe,
“Abel uses the inner pages of his textbooks to conceal the drugs within the campus to sell.” While stating that Abel was arrested on Friday 30th April, 2021, he said two other traffickers; Yahaya Joshua and Yahaya Audu, were arrested the previous day along Mokwa-Jebba road with 32kilogrammes of cannabis sativa.
Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) in his reaction, commended the Plateau and Niger Commands of the Agency for disrupting the activities of drug cartels in their respective states.
He charged them to remain relentless in pursuit of the Agency’s mandate to rid Nigeria of illicit drugs.

The National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has told those clamouring for the division of Nigeria to jettison the idea as the country is better together.

The alleged lawyer to embattled Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, Akin Olafeso has shared that Nigerian comedian, Princess set up his client following an alleged illicit affair between the duo.
In a post that was shared on Facebook, Akin Olafeso revealed that Baba Ijesha had an affair with Princess in the past — however, his client gained access to her family through this means and molested the 14-year-old adopted daughter.
Olafeso also revealed that although when he molested the little girl, Princess had no idea about it, but as soon as she got the wind that her daughter was molested by the actor, she went into action to set him up in a bid to teach Baba Ijesha a lesson.
However, the lawyer has promised to meet the Princess in court. The alleged lawyer wrote,

A Malaysia-based Nigerian man, Prince Ugo Sam, is giving thanks to God for his life after he narrowly escaped death in a ghastly auto crash.
Taking to his page Facebook on Sunday, May 2, he shared photos from the crash scene and of himself on a hospital bed.

Some days back, it was reported of nine wedding guests who died in a ghastly road accident in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
It was gathered that the victims were on their way from the wedding of a close friend in Benin City when the accident which took their lives happened.
According to viral reports, there were 10 passengers in the commercial bus and only one person survived while the other nine died.
It was said that a truck collided with their bus at Ekpon Junction in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Henry Benamaisia, who confirmed the unfortunate incident said five persons died instantly while three others in critical condition were rushed to the hospital.

A Nigerian lady has given the quite sad narrative of how she was allegedly defiled by her father’s superior in the barracks when she was celebrating her 11th birthday in 1998.
In a post shared on her Twitter page, the lady with the handle, @LADEmie, revealed that at the time, she was hawking Kunu, a locally made nutritious drink, to help raise money for her family’s upkeep when the superior allegedly lured her into his office and defiled her in 1998.
“I was raped my by father’s superior In the military at my 11th birthday. He threatened to sack my dad if I told anyone. He could have killed me. I was 11, while I was hawking kunu to feed my family. He promised to buy my goods and I entered his office. We were in the barracks.
If I didn’t sell Kunu, we wouldn’t eat. My dad’s salary was nothing. It’s been 23 years, but it still fills like yesterday”

In new reports, there’s concerns that Nigeria’s elephant population is fast depleting after local hunters shot dead a 4th elephant in Ogun State.
It was reported that the elephant was killed near Omo forest in Ogun State. According to the Elephant Protection Initiative, this is the 4th elephant illegally killed in two years.

An undergraduate of Imo State University (IMSU), who was declared missing, has been discovered dead after five days.
Kingsley Chiwueze, a 300-level law student, was on Monday, April 26 declared missing after he could not be reached on the phone and his whereabouts remained unknown.
Chuwueze who is a native of Oguta Local Government Area of the state, was involved in student union politics and declared his intention to run for the office of Senate President of the National Association of Imo State Students two weeks ago.
The President of the Students Union Government of IMSU, Arinze Oguike, who confirmed the development on Sunday, May 2, revealed that the corpse of the law undergraduate was found in the morgue of Umuguma General Hospital, Owerri.
He said some students stormed the mortuary and the attendant told them the corpse was allegedly deposited by the management of a private hospital, in Owerri.
The student leader said,
“The attendant told us that his corpse was brought by people from a private hospital on Whetheral Road. We will go to the hospital to find out how they took custody of the student’s corpse.”

Big Brother Naija ‘lockdown’ star, Nengi, has reacted to the sad story of Iniobong Umoren, the Philosophy graduate of the University of Uyo, who left her home for a supposedly job interview in the outskirt of Uyo.
She was reportedly raped and killed by a man who said he had a job opportunity for her.
Reacting to this, Nengi released the curse of God on her killers, she wrote on her Instagram story ;
I release the curse of God upon your killers, cursed be their generations.
Tacha also reacted to the sad killing, as as she joined the thousands who have sent their condolences to the family of late Miss Iniubong Umoren, who was murdered.
She took to her Twitter page to write ;
“PROTECT our GIRL CHILD! Where is it ever safe in this country Nigeria, where? May God have mercy. May your soul find rest Ini, the system failed you, we will fight till you get justice. Rest on Angel”
Comedienne, Princess has revealed that she did not authorize the public release of the CCTV footage which showed veteran actor, Baba Ijesha molesting her foster daughter.
Recall that, Punch recently released the footage which captured the moment Baba Ijesha molested the minor.
However, the comedienne who has now released a disclaimer through her lawyers, claimed that she did not authorize the release of the CCTV footage.
The disclaimer reads,
“Our client disclaims any liability or responsibility whatsoever that arises from the publication of the video on the internet or any other social media platform showing OLSRENWAJU JAMES OMIYINKA (AKA. BABA IJESHA) molesting our client’s foster daughter.
“Our client expressively disclaim any liability whatsoever for any loss however, arising from the content of the CCTV footage released to the general public”.
Meanwhile, since the release of the footage, there has been uproar across social media.
Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson has waded in on the ongoing rape scandal involving Baba Ijesha and the minor he allegedly molested.
Recall that the CCTV footage surfaced online, and Nigerians watched with disdain, the way Baba Ijesha molested the minor.
Reacting to this, Mercy Johnson is of the opinion that anyone who still tries to defend Baba Ijesha at this point needs to be arrested.
In her words ;
“After watching the very disturbing video of Baba Ijesha, Anyone who speaks for him needs to be arrested… As a human being and a mom, it inexplicable how one should feel… May God protect our kids and give the Nigerian police the conscience to so what is right.”

The pastor stood on the pulpit as she addressed members and pointed out that some members refused to contribute towards her birthday and lambasted them for it.
She pointed out that when members come to her with their needs, she gives, yet they won’t do same for her.
In her words : “Even my birthday, some of you refused to contribute. May God punish you. Because you are wicked. Unless you don’t have.

Iniobong Umoren, a Philosophy graduate of the University of Uyo, left her home for a job interview, so she thought —but was raped and killed by the man who invited her for the job interview.
The sad development was confirmed, Sunday afternoon, by the Police in Akwa Ibom State.
The police spokesperson in the state, Odiko MacDon, identified the suspect as 20-year-old Uduak Frank Akpan.
The suspect, said to be a serial rapist, killed the missing woman and buried her in a shallow grave in his father’s house, after raping her.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Uduak Frank Akpan, 20 years old for kidnapping, raping and murdering one Miss Iniobong Umoren.
“On 30/04/2021, the Command received a report on the disappearance of the victim.
“Following available leads, men of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Command, led by CSP Inengiye Igose, consolidated on the initial great progress made by the DPO Uruan, SP Samuel Ezeugo and arrested the perpetrator who confessed to have lured his victim to his house in the guise of giving her a job, but ended up sexually and physically assaulting her which led to her death. To cover his tracks, he dragged and buried her in a shallow grave in his father’s compound.
“The deceased has been exhumed and deposited at UUTH for autopsy.
“The suspect confessed to have told his local government chairman of his atrocity before escaping to Calabar and was never at any time handed over to the Police by anyone.
“Suspect is a confessed serial rapist who has owned up to the raping of other victims. He will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
Ms Umoren was last seen on April 29 before she went to honour the appointment for a ‘job interview’
She was screaming for help on the phone, said one of her friends who established contact with her on the day she went missing.
“She sent me a 1sec audio record on WhatsApp and I had to call her back to know if she wanted to say something to me but immediately I called her I heard her screaming,” the friend, Uduak Umoh, tweeted.
Concerned Nigerians did an amazing job, deploying internet tools to see how they could track the missing woman’s location or uncover the identity and the location of the person she went out to meet.
#FindHinyUmoren trended on Twitter for two days, after Ms Umoren went missing.
The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Amienghene Andrew, commended “the social media family” for their “effort” in the case.
She was raped, murdered and buried in a shallow grave by her abductor identified as Uduak Akpan.
Below is the last conversation she had with her friend, Uduak Umoh while she was ‘heading’ for the supposed interview she was invited for by her assailant.
“It was immediately I got this 1sec voice note from her that I called her and she has not been taking my calls.” Her friend, Uduak had tweeted.
#FindHinyNumoren started trending after her @UmohUduak1 called for help online, saying she was unable to reach Ms Umoren after a job interview along the airport road in Akwa Ibom.
She added that she had received a one second voice recording on WhatsApp, and when she last heard her on the phone, Ms Umoren was screaming.
The police announced that they had arrested two suspects believed to have played a role in the disappearance of Ms Umoren in Akwa Ibom.
Ms Umoren had announced on Twitter on April 27 that she was in need of a job.
